Bought 2 subs. I chose the Italian and my wife wanted a cranberry walnut chicken sub. My Italian was very good but for $14, I thought it was overpriced for its size. My wife's cranberry walnut chicken salad sub was also tasty but the chicken salad was extremely sparse.... less than 1/2" thick for the length of the sandwich. For a $27+ charge, the sandwiches were good but overpriced for what we got. The store, though, is very interesting and I would not hesitate to buy some of their imported goods, but doubt that I would get sandwiches again. Too bad, I had high hopes. After living in Framingham almost 7 years, I have yet to find a great sub shop. When we lived in the North Shore, great sub shops seemed to be everywhere. read more

A little piece of Italy in Framingham! I walked in and was transported to the old Italian deli we used to be dragged to as kids. It honestly felt like home. Came for the sandwiches which were generously portioned, incredibly fresh and just delicious. Will most definitely be back for some of their fresh pasta and meats. Holy Connoli! I died and woke up in Italy. Who knew this hidden gem was in the middle of this S. American mecca? **Ponders** Well, I guess that'd be the proper definition of a hidden gem. Anyways....the Stefanini started this place all the way back in 1929! David Stefanini still works his magic in the lunch/dinner/catering operation in the back and let me tell you, the food is well worth driving out for. The fridge section is stocked with row after row of homemade pastas and sauces. You can find specialty meats, cheeses and sweets imported from the old country. The fruits/veggies are even individually washed and lined up in the fridge for display. Way too pretty to eat. Food was so good on Tuesday we were back for more Thursday. His auntie and mama welcomed us at the counter with a heart felt greeting of: "David, the girls are back!!." Who could resist those amazing sandwiches, hot entrees and all that charm? This place is fantastic! An Italian market and deli with excellent sandwiches and various other items. My wife and I had drove nearly an hour to try them out as we heard good things. We ended up ordering 5 sandwiches to take home. Two of their signature Italians, two porchetta with broccoli rabe and provolone, and a meatball sandwich. All were excellent!! They also have a big frozen case with homemade sausages, porchetta, meatballs, braciole, and pasta/raviolis. We picked up a package of the garlic and pepper sausage which were excellent! The subs are to die for (why doesn't anything I put on a piece of bread ever taste as good?) and the selection is just great. Pasta shapes you've never seen. Truffle oil you may not be able to afford. Check out the frozen section -- it's like your Italian grandma filled up the freezer for you, because you're getting a little skinny, you know. Was in here today. Got the WORST attitude from the little man behind the counter. Asked if I could see the guanciale and he asked if I had ever ordered it before (yes I have) and threw his hand up (like in a ba fangool kind of way), and responded that that's what is was, guanciale. I just looked at him like WTF. Then the older lady..I asked her what part of Italy she was from as she was ringing me up (since I am Italian too), and she responded "my mother" in a gruff short mean ass tone. I walked into this place friendly with a smile on my face trying to make small talk with both of these people and left feeling like I had been slapped in the face. Will not return. read more

A long icon in Framingham, the Waverly St market is one of the best places in the metrowest area for great meats, cheese, italian food. The smell alone once you walk in makes you hungry. Their selection is fantastic and its not as pricey as Savenor's. We have ordered their porkcetta many times and have never been disappointed. Great sandwiches if you are just stopping by for lunch. Had to stop in to see what the fuss was about. Got the porchetta sub although they had quite a few that sounded really good. The pork was thinly sliced (I think I was thinking bigger slabs in my mind) but the meat was fantastic. The sub wasn't quite as large as a large sub would be at my local sub shop but the ingredients were good. Everyone was polite and helpful and the older lady at the front was super nice ~I chuckled when I read the other reviews maybe she is a twin? The only thing that would have made the sub better would be better bread, that old style white bread stuff just isn't my thing, that sandwich deserved to be on focaccia or in a panini. I'm just saying they could step it up a notch, and maybe throw in a bag of chips! I noticed they had local farm fresh eggs too and they didn't seem that expensive, if I lived closer I'd probably buy them there. read more

Ya know that New England Compounding place that's all over the news for contaminating their steroids with syphilis or something? Yeah, Waverly Market is across the street from there. So David's probably going to lose some customers since NECC filed bankruptcy. That sucks... David's business, not NECC. They can go suck an egg. Ordering at Waverly is easy: Ask them what's good. There's always something in the food cases that they can knock up into a kick-butt sub for you. If not, get their Italian sub. It rocks some housemade porchetta and is amazing. I have been going to the Waverly Market since the late 70's. It is pretty awesome now that we live in Vermont no matter how many months pass when I walk in the door David and his Mama greet me like family. Not sure how anyone would ever say David or his Mama where rude. They have been so friendly to my family over the decades. The food is just amazing and Davids fresh sausage is hands down the best! Their subs are out of this world! Haven't been there in a couple years and David immediately said "hey Vermont " and we chatted as I waited for my antipasto and my husbands sandwich. I was in Framingham on business this week and Googled "best sandwich in Framingham" as I was STARVING before several appointments I had. Waverly Market was the first place that came up, and I am so happy it did. I couldnt decide between the Italian or my usual roast beef sub, and the gentleman with a moustache behind the counter recommended that since it was my first time there, I do an Italian, and it was AMAZING. And, may I add, he was EXTREMELY nice and friendly to every customer who was in there, and genuinely seemed happy to help, answer questions, and be there...unlike some places I go for lunch when I am on the road. I do a lot of business in Framingham and will be sure to be stopping by here whenever its lunch time and I'm out that way. read more

I recently moved to the area and heard about Waverly Market. I was extremely excited after viewing the menu online and couldn't wait to try them out. My fiance and I came in one afternoon and were not greeted by the lady behind the first register-noticeable, but still gave the benefit of the doubt. Going further into the market we were the only customers there amongst 2 other employees and we seriously felt like we walked in to a place that we weren't welcomed to. The main reason this place gets only 1 star is because the lady who was preparing my garden salad did NOT put on gloves. I asked if she could put gloves on (damage already done after handling lettuce) and her response was that she had already washed her hands...um no thanks. I cancelled the order and left. My fiance was nice enough to still order a warm sub which was ok, but he was grossed out as well. And although she explained that they clean all the time, I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that its FLU season and an outbreak of the measles is currently going on in Framingham. He made me a special chicken parm sandwich with eggplant today that was incredible. In my last review of 2012, I believe I called him an artist! Well, that opinion certainly hasn't changed at all! I found this place when I worked downtown back in 1997. They were already well established back then. I had the best Italian sub in my life. They used real prosciutto and the other meats all tasted like I had just gone down to the deli in a small town in Italy to pick them up.. Oh MAN! Was that sub good. I tried the Italian sub as was recommended by yelp... it was very good but in the future I would make sure they didn't put whatever mystery meat loaf on it. It was very peppery and I didn't really care for it. Other than that, the sandwich was very good. My husband had turkey sandwich which was also very good. I was expecting a larger dessert and cookie display which was kind of disappointing. The other prepared foods all looked delicious. Service was friendly. They eat here almost daily. After eating their sandwiches for two weeks, I made my first physical trip to Waverly Market this afternoon. The place is immaculate. It's incredibly clean. When you walk in, that's the first thing you notice. The sandwiches are excellent. The staff is also a lot of fun. You can tell that they love what they do.
