Today, I went with the build your own burger and had a Swiss cheese and mushroom burger with grilled onions. Amazing! I placed the order myself using their kiosk, and the only interaction I had was with the person who gave me my order when it was ready, and he was very polite. They have a drive-through that I will use next time and at this point I'm sure there will be a next time because it was quite nice. Interior is spacious and very clean . read more

Food- Spicy Buffalo Burger- it was pretty good. They did put a little too much sauce but it was overall really good. Onion rings were alright. Family enjoyed the Cajun tots and fried pickles. My burger was somehow dry and crazy greasy..like a heart attack in sandwich form. Bummed out as we enjoyed it more before. Truly an awful experience here. We were traveling through, and needed a break here to put the pause button on sitting in the traffic from the I-5 Bridge work. Taking the exit, we found this area with a number of restaurants. Trying to decide which one to grab dinner in, we saw the BOGO offer in the window, and that made our decision for us. Going up to the counter, I asked the server how the system works. "Just scan the QR Code and setup a new account with us, and bring me the discount code", I was told. Scanning the QRcode, I created the account, and took a screenshot of the resulting numeric discount code. Going back to the counter, I started my order. When I got to the payment portion, the server acted like we had never had the previous discussion; apparently dealing with two other customers between the two encounters will do that to a person. Now, I was told "you need to show me the QR Code". I told him there isn't one in the message generated. "You need to download the app", I was informed. "How do I do that? It's not showing as an option", I replied. "I guess you don't get your free burger then", he retorted. Being unable to proceed from here, we canceled the transaction and walked over to Popeye's for a delicious chicken sandwich. Unbelievable that Wayback Burgers would make such an onerous process, and if it is indeed required, not train their servers on how to manage this, since the poster is displayed all over the restaurant. I am left to believe the deal really isn't available; they just display it in order to draw potential customers in. We visited for the first time on a Tuesday and had to take other family members back to give it a try on Wednesday. The location is good and the inside was very clean. We saw them take the raw meat to the grill and we were so impressed that we were getting real hamburger meat. Everything was freshly cooked and hot for us even the real "potato" fries. The menu is on the wall so folks can figure out their costs before they order so if someone says they aren't informed (as one of the reviewers) it's because they didn't open their eyes. If you aren't starving, try the kids menu. The cheeseburger is the same size as the single burger but you get fries and a drink with it. The price is only $5.99. However, if you're hungry, there are many other options. Also, try the fried pickles.... delicious. Wayback Burgers is a chain and the employees at this location do a good job for them. We watched as the employees disinfected each table as customers left. We definitely will be back. read more

For $15, I received a bacon burger, fries, and bottled water that I easily would've received better quality at half the price if I had gone to an In & Out Burger. Granted, Wayback prepares their burgers the exact same way that In & Out does- I fully expected more for $15. I was surprised when the employee mentioned the total, yet I was hungry on this day. No way was I going to eat at the alternative place on the other side of the gas station. Seating here is so-so, considering that its at a gas station, and not a stand alone location. Front cashier order taker didn't know how to do the app and although I had the code she said she didn't know how to do it. So, we lost out in our intro free classic burger or shake. Took about 20-25 minutes to get our meal. My wife went to check on it and the cashier was just getting it ready. Food was not as expected. Honestly, this place just serves up a quality burger. You might be skeptical because it's at a gas station and has a drive-thru but they are serving up delicious burgers. The meat has very good flavor and it's made to order. The sides are just ok, though. The onion rings were good but the fries weren't anything special. The Mac and cheese bites also were alright. The Cheeeesy burger was amazing! It has four slices of cheese on a double stack of patties, served between upside down buns that are grilled. The double bacon is your standard bacon cheeseburger. I love their veggie burger! The patty is so good and I love all the toppings too. And their tater tots are not too greasy.

After the third time (today) I decided not to waste my time or money. The first time they gave me someone else's "To Go" order and I had to drive back. The second time wasn't so great either. Today after the person ahead of me placed her order I waited patiently at the counter while she prepared the milk shakes. When done, she took my order and told me "10 minutes". After waiting 20 minutes I finally asked about my order and was told "you're next". When I questioned that I was told a "call came in before yours and was a $200.00 order". I knew that was a LIE! Because I could see the person behind me had to wait until the person taking the order had to wait! Not only was I offended that she lied, but I felt it was completely unprofessional to make me feel that a $200.00 order was worth lying for and pushing my order behind because there wasn't enough grill space! The menu includes a variety of double patty burger choices, the create-your-own burger option, hand-dipped chicken tenders, chicken sandwiches, several dipping sauce options, coney-style hot dogs, milk shakes, and more. A notable drawback is the long wait to receive your order. If you don't use the app to preorder, you can expect a 10-15 minute wait...not ideal if you pull up in the drive-thru or are on a tight schedule. The other concern is the tables typically seem a bit sticky, and the table top napkin holder on each visit has been empty. Not a big deal but worth a small deduction. This place is phenomenal! How have I not reviewed it until now? I can't get enough of this place! Extremely fresh ingredients on the burgers! There's also really unique items and not just really unique burgers! I love to stop by this fantastic place whenever I can! It's connected to a Chevron that has several other restaurants available but that shouldn't stop you! It may have some spotty service but that's not necessarily unexpected from a restaurant connected to a gas station! I always get very fresh and great tasting food! I'm not gonna say it's the best burger (especially for me when I live like 20 minutes away!) but it's DEFINITELY not the worst! I think the prices are somewhat reasonable for the quality! But you may occasionally hate the service or wait time enough to think it's expensive! Overall for me I'm patient enough to wait for this very enjoyable food at a themed restaurant! Pro tips: Get a Chocolate Banana shake because their's has got to be the best because it's actually a flavor they list! We stopped here on the way to the coast. We actually ate at their location in WY and were presently surprised they have one 10 exits up the freeway from our home. They share space with a gas station/convenient store but it does not take away from the atmosphere or quality of food/service. They have an expansive menu - where you want to try it all but need to be mindful of the pocket book. Their burgers are amazing - their Mac n Cheese bites are addicting...My daughters love their milkshakes (although they are spendy)...the area is clean and plentiful. I tried their new impossible burger and it was just about the most amazing impossible burger I've tried. They put some kind of delicious sauce that kicks it up a notch too.
