Earlier in the month of August, my AC blower motor went out 2 years after a new Carrier HVAC was installed. I called Waycoff and they advised that it would be 3-5 buseiness days to get the replacement motor After having to spend multiple nights in a hotel due to the heat (the temperatures got up to 92 degrees in the house), I called Waycoff and was told the motor was in and a technician would install between 8 am and Noon the following day. When no one showed that morning, I called Waycoff again and was told that I didn't have an appointment and the motor was not in! I was told that the blower motor was suppose to be available in Naples FL but it is no longer available and that it would be 112 days before a motor could be obtained! This was after waiting 12 days with no service and no motor! I called 4 times and asked for a return call from a manager and never received a return call! On that 12th day, out of shear desperation, I called an authorized Carrier dealer at 5:30 pm. They called back within the hour and told me they would be out to replace the blower motor tomorrow! Great service from that company ... no service from Waycoff! We were leaving the following day for an out-of-state trip and were called after leaving the state by Waycoff and advised the blower motor was in and it could be installed the following day! Obviously, it was no longer needed and we weren't at home anyway. Based upon this incredibly poor service, this company does not get my recommendation and I will never use them again. read more

We used Waychoffs last year and it was amazing. We even purchased the plan to get the discounts and have twice-a-year maintenance. We booked our free maintenance last week and found that Waychoffs has been purchased by a bigger corporate company. VERY DISAPPOINTING. They came out to service and once they left, the AC in our upstairs does not work since they serviced it. Worked fine before they serviced it. Scheduled another call a few days ago (had to take off work) and was told they would be out between 8 - 12. I have another commitment at 1. It is now 11:30 and I haven't heard from anyone. When I called, they stated they didn't know how long they were going to be and they can't guarantee they will be here by 12. THEN WHY give me a time window? They said they were overbooked. Is that my problem? SERVICE these days is awful. I will be looking for another company. Service industries have gone downhill and now I feel like they are just in it to make a buck. Although I once thought Waychoff's was one of the better AC companies in Jacksonville (I must have, I bought four units from them in the last three years), I have come to the conclusion that they might be good on sales, but they definitely shaft you on the follow-on service. Today they showed up for a scheduled maintenance checkup of a less than three year old system. The tech tells my wife the evaporator coil needs cleaning, price $191.00 (not covered by maintenance contract). Next, the capacitor needs replacing, capacitor is under warranty, but $90.00 labor to change it (5 max 10 minute job). I called Waychoff's only to be told, "we have a lot of overhead and if we didn't charge that, we wouldn't be in business". Now let's figure this out, Maintenance fee $180+ for two trips, the $90 charge is because they have to change capacitor (5 or 10 minutes), take the capacitor back to the shop and mail it to the AC company for warranty replacement. Throw in $191.00 to clean the coil, any way you look at it, not a bad hours pay. I will let Yelp readers make their own decisions, I am only sharing this to help you do it. read more

Do yourself a great service and never ever use this AC company. They are totally inept and don't care a lick about their customers. Tech was out on Wednesday for annual maintenance check and said everything was perfect. 48 hours later my AC is blowing hot air and it's 100 degrees outside. I think no problem, I pay extra for the emergency service contract that they upsold me. My air goes out on Friday and they can't get to me until Tuesday. The teenager they have answering the phone is rude could care less and hung up on me twice. Called back and was told by another staff person that a manager would call me back right away. We were quoted a price for the service call of $165 for diagnostics. When he got here the copastor was bad. the part was about $20 covered under warranty. When he said it was going to be around $440 I about had a stroke. After listening to all of his bullshit I told him i would fix it myself, and only then he came to $285. never ever again read more

After our AC and heat no longer worked after a security company installed a smart thermostat, I decided to call Waychoff's as they were the company that had originally installed the equipment. A tech by the name of Scott came out to our house who was condescending with me the entire time. He was upset that I let the security company come out to replace the thermostat. After he noted that the previous thermostat was a special two-way unit, he began to tell me how I was fortunate that I didn't fry my system and that I could have ended up paying $1000. He indicated that he was going to charge me an additional $100 fee on top of the service call because he had to take out a communication device within the air handler itself. I asked him if they would give me a military discount and he looked at me with a frown and said "Not for something like this!" He began to then lecture me on how homeowners shouldn't be touching the thermostats. These are things I was clueless about. Why would Home Depot be selling Nest thermostats for customers to install if they didn't want home users installing them? He was nice enough to configure the new thermostat for me. I printed out the instructions for him and he configured the equipment settings. He let me know that since I ditched the old proprietary unit, I would not be able to take advantage of a special dehumidification function where the fan runs slow during the summer to remove extra moisture from the air. I guess I will have to see how the new unit fares come summer. Toward the end, he takes out a temperature probe and punctures the ductwork right above the air handler. After he removes the probe, he leaves a nice small hole as he checks to make sure the heat is functioning. He could have patched it but I guess he decided to leave it as a warning to never touch our own thermostat again. Fortunately, I have some flue tape so I was able to patch it a day after he left. Based on my interaction with the technician, I would probably go with a different AC company that offers military discounts and has a better attitude toward customers. For our service contract, I will definitely be looking for a company more focused on customer service. read more

Waycoff's AC is not what we expected when paying $9961.00 for our unit. This was supposed to be the best! I have news for you, it is not the best nor a reliable unit. We have had the system for 2 years and have had the AC quit 2-3 times. Every time we call the "24/7 Emergency Service" no one is able to come out. Tonight we had the unfortunate experience of needing another service call because our AC is not working. It is set at 78 and the house is 82 degrees. The woman who answered the phone apologized and said they could not send anyone out because there "system is down." That's 2 for 2! No HELP, NO AC. I highly suggest finding another company who will charge less up front and somehow try to make it out if their unit breaks!! Very disappointed Waycoff. read more

My AC broke while I was out of town. I came home and asked for recommendations on who to call. I was told to call Air McCall, not knowing they are now Waychoff's. They were super prompt and came out within three hours. Knowing the unit was super old since we recently bought the house I wasn't expecting good news. I was told I needed a brand new unit and I would have to have a consultant come out that day. At this point it is close to 90 degrees in my house and getting hotter and I work from home, so not ideal. Now I know being a female 23 year old homeowner I have to be on my toes at all times when I have people come over because they will just try to over quote me and pull a fast one on me. Once the consultant came over, I was quoted $18,000 for a brand new "top of the line" unit it. I thanked the guy and politely asked him to leave. Based on prior knowledge and research I obviously knew that was completely unreasonable. They kept calling and I said in order to be comfortable I needed to get a few more quotes. They chose to ignore that and schedule an appointment to install the HVAC unit against my knowledge and my confirmation. I tried to cancel and they refused to cancel it. I was then directed to someone else who laughed when he heard what I was being offered. The unit was not top of the line and triple what I eventually got it for. From an almost customer standpoint- the first impression i got from this company was completely appalling, to where i feel the need to share this with you all. I called in on a Tuesday afternoon, my unit was blowing hot air. I spoke with a Cassidy on the phone, and was apparently placed on a "hold". Only it wasn't a hold at all, i was driving my kids to practice, and over the car Bluetooth, this lady dropped many curse words. Said i " had an attitude " and wasn't going to offer me today. She was laughing and cursing away with other people in the office, while i was busy driving and trying to get her words off my car audio so my children didn't hear this company representative talk that way. Once she came back on the phone from my lovely "hold", she told me the soonest they had was a Friday mid-day. Just how she joked about, that because I was "rude", I was suddenly offered Friday? Please let it be noted that all i did was call in, and ask for a service appointment to see what was going on with my unit. I mean i understand a wait in Florida, and I didn't mind the next day, but 3 days without air when you knowingly had openings on your schedule? And when your representative withholds service? Completely unprofessional and embarrassing, meanwhile, McGowans came out, and i bought 2 new units with them. Dont waste your time here. read more

I had used Waychoffs in the past loyally. I had two new units installed when my builder grade units finally died. So pains me to say I can no longer recommend them. There customer service has really gone down hill. I had my units inspected and or serviced every year since install in 2015. I called to have annual check and possible cleaned. The lady who answered the phone was extremely rude. After all the money I have spent, I really couldn't believe I was being treated so poorly. I purchased a 3 ton unit in October and the techs have been out 6-7 times due to house been hot. Freon is constantly leaking and they make excuses for the house being hot. Insulation not good, not enough vents on the outside of the house, etc etc etc. my old unit was 17 years old and kept my house cooler than the new one, but was aging out. DO. NOT. USE. WAYCHOFF'S. The bad reviews are true. I had a couple of techs from Waychoff's service my property on two separate occasions. First time the tech talked me into doing an insulation job for an extra $1,500. Weeks later, I received no invoice, no service agreement, nothing. Just a fat charge on my credit card. Finally got them to email me the invoice, only to find out the $1,500 insulation job was documented with nothing more than "as agreed" on a service invoice. That was the line item: "as agreed: $1,500" After asking the Waychoff's rep if they had any other documentation of the insulation service, I received nothing. That same day, after I had canceled my second service appointment in the same email, a tech came out anyway. This second tech brazenly lied to me, saying my package unit needed more refrigerant. He said maybe I had a slow leak and couldn't give me a warranty. Luckily I had another company look at it later that day -- which is when I found out my system categorically didn't need any refrigerant. The Waychoff's tech was just trying to extract money from me. And not pocket change either. He refused to tell me how much freon my system might need -- that it could be 2 pounds or 5 pounds (at over $100 per pound). Really happy I told him to pound sand. Well I got back from Savannah for my birthday weekend to a nasty surprise...broken AC at the house. It was 94 outside, and 88 inside the house - not optimal. I received a recommendation from someone I work with, and I have to say I had a great experience. I called yesterday at around 8AM, and they said they could have someone out to me by around noon. I met the technician, Seth at my house at 12 and he got right to work. We went over some basic troubleshooting and he quickly diagnosed the problem. The wait time was short, the pricing was fair, and Seth was professional, personable and very skilled. read more

I'd hoped for better... A/C just wasn't cooling well so I figured I should have someone come look at it. I looked up Waychoff's online, found their $59 precision tune-up deal and scheduled someone to come out. I fully expected they would tell me I needed a whole new system. They did not. However, no 'tune-up' was received. The tech looked at the air handler - he didn't touch it - didn't take off any covers to look inside at the blower or coils, there was definitely nothing cleaned. He did tell me the plenum needed to be replaced. He then looked in the attic, to check insulation. Comes down ladder, tells me we need more insulation. Fine, give me the numbers. So, for plenum replacement and to bring the insulation up to code, $2300. We can have it done tomorrow. Tells me this will make the house much cooler and the a/c won't have to work as hard, plus, electricity bill will go down. So, I talk to my husband and we decide to go with it. (We had been saving the money for a new unit but since these 'professionals' are telling us the unit is just fine, we figure everything is ok.) A crew comes out the next day to do the work. Now, it's been a couple of months. House is not cooler, bill is most definitely not lower. Mind you, we live in NE Florida so, yeah, it's plenty hot, so I don't get to stressed about it. But the back bedroom is most always at least 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the house. I can't say for sure but I feel they didn't put much new insulation back that way due to the slope of the roof. Nevertheless, we keep hoping for the best. Then about 4 days ago the air handler starts making noise. I'm thinking well, this is it, it's going to have to be replaced now. (btw, house built in 2006, same a/c from build) I call up Waychoff's to request someone come look at it and give me a quote on replacement. I told the lady on the phone about the insulation and plenum replacement as well as the fact that I never received the "Precision Tune-up". She is sorry... I'm told it would be $90 for someone to come out. I said, your website says, "Free Estimate on any new system install". She says, "you said something is wrong with the handler, so we know there is a problem, and we have to charge the fee for someone to come out." Now, why would I request a quote on a new install if the equipment I had was working properly??? Obviously, I did not have them come out again, nor would I recommend them to anyone. read more

Waychoff's has terrible reviews for a reason. My AC unit was on the fritz and my husband scheduled an apt with one of their techs. He comes out and tells us that we need our coils cleaned and our capacitor needed to be changed. Total would have run us $1400. No thanks. I called Ball AC and he looked at our coils, took a pic, and said they were CLEAN! He checked our unit, took a pic, and said we were low on refrigerant. For a few hundred dollars, Ball AC resolved our issue. Stay far away from Waychoff's. read more

I would avoid this company for AC service. My initial contact with this company was for a routine maintenance. My AC unit was fully functional at that time. I was told I needed to change 2 capacitors and it cost me $400. 6 months later the AC unit completely failed and it was determined it was one of the capacitors that had failed. They replaced it but charged me for the "warranty" price of $100 plus a service fee. Two months later the AC system failed again and they would not come out again unless I agreed to a $90 service fee. I said no thank you and will never use them again. read more

I had a technician come out for a tune up. My system was working good and I wanted to keep it that way. The technician came out said my system was old but was still working. I knew that. He told me he had to force my free pound of refrigerant into the unit and charged me $90 and left. Two weeks later my system started freezing over. I contacted a different company and was asked by the technician if I had recently had it serviced I advised yes. He asked if they put in refrigerant again yes. I was advised whoever did it put in the wrong kind and too much. What the heck!?? Charged me to break my unit. NEVER AGAIN! Technician says weak capacitor is the reason why it's cooling down only to about 75 ( it was set at 76 and actual 76 when he came). After we refused to pay $440 for part that is online $20, technician states that AC won't work even after somebody else replaces capacitor, as a matter of fact it won't work after he leaves. I asked him why it wouldn't work if it worked when he came, he says it died few minutes before he got here. Guess what, it's not working after he left. Stay away from this company!!! read more

We had our system replaced in April and couldn't be happier. The pre-installation inspection was thorough, the rep was informative, professional and not at all pushy. Our second electric bill told the tale, saved $175 from year to year same month. Well worth the investment, because our old system was 20 years old. My AC was on the way out, and I knew it was time to replace. I called 6 companies, 3 never bothered to call me back (So glad they are doing so well they can walk away from a sale) and got quotes from 3 others. One was 5800 for my 2-ton AC install, another was 4100. I chose Waychoff's for a couple reasons, 1, Rusty was so knowledgeable, and gave me the straight info, and 2, although they were a few hundred dollars more than the low bid, I got a variable speed handler, which I wanted, and I got a name brand unit. Sure maybe the brands the others are just as good or better, but be real, will you save money and buy a xiaomei phone, or rest easy you paid more but got a quality Apple or Samsung phone? Waychoff's offered an AC unit from a company that has been around decades, and that's all I needed to see on the quote. The install team was courteous, efficient and tolerated my questions and hovering. I have no complaints, and since the install in july, I saved 25 dollars on the august JEA bill and 30 on the September bill. I cannot ask for much more, and I have recommended Waychoff's at least 3-4 times to neighbors and friends. read more

My AC decided to quit at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon (they're programmed to do that you know). Dr Google and YouTube suggested the problem was probably a capacitor in the outside unit. Checked Amazon and found the capacitor for $20 but no delivery until Monday. Called a local supply company who had it in stock for $50 but was closing in 20 minutes. Since I had company staying with me, I started calling a few AC places to see about getting a service call. Waychoff's said they could come out Friday evening for $85 and would waive that if the parts were over $250, so I booked the appointment figuring I'd be looking at maybe $150 bill. Long story short, Waychoff's charged me $230 for that $50 capacitor and since, in an absolutely stunning coincidence, the parts bill was $20 short of the $250 cutoff still charged me the $85 service call. After some discussion, I benefited from a $50 coupon but still wound up with a $280 bill for a 30 minute service call to install a $50 capacitor. The service rep was very polite and competent, but Waychoff's prices and policies will definitely send me and all of my friends somewhere else for AC service calls. read more

Watch out. They can be game players. I paid for a diagnostic inspection. Determined I had a leak. I said o.k. fix it. The tech said now I have to pay for a leak inspection. I told the tech the last time you were here I paid for a leak inspection. Well ,he said I have to pay again. On his way out the door he wrote on the invoice " Customer has declined leak inspection" . I called around and found an independent. He was here 30 minutes. He pumped in a pound and one half of gas and tightened things up. He said I should be fine. Techs are fraudsters. Had them come out for common issue, I just needed r410a check and recharge. Kid shows up, doesn't even have $2 tool to take off caps. Vanishes for another hour before coming back. Tells me he checked and pressures right. Fudges wiring to put in heat mode and tries to sell me a new thermostat for $309. On top of $86 service call. I paid $86 just to get him out. Call and hoping to get a new tech. Even worse. Shows up, flips wires on outdoor unit, ohhh magically no "heat mode." Total fraud. I'm assuming he was trying to replace me w thermostat marked up 10 fold. Then after that didn't work, conclude I also need additional $270 for 3 pounds of r410a. Do yourself and wallet a favor and find another vendor that is honest. read more

Also there price I found is not competitive and the add in a lot of fees that are not clear or printed anywhere. Wow! I'm surprised there are so many bad reviews on here? I actually found these guys on Google. But decided to write the review here since Google has so many great reviews about this company. We used these guys 2 weeks ago when our ac stopped working in the middle of the night. Our ac was only 2 yrs old and is still under warranty but that company couldn't send anyone out till the next day. What?! Isn't it consider an emergency here in FLORIDA when it's 95+ outside and your ac breaks? I said screw that! We gotta find an ac repair guy today! Waychoff's came out the same day and fixed it. He explained why it stopped working and in less then an hour it was done! We are a happy customer and would recommend these guys to anyone. read more

One thing I failed to do before employing Waychoff to re-configure our duct system was to review their history on Better Business Bureau and Yelp. If I had, I would not have used their service. From all indications, Waychoff is a company without a capacity for fair play, but their focus is only on the sale. Just reading through some of the responses on the BBB site posted by Waychoff reveal a total lack of concern and sympathy for the consumers' circumstances that trusted in them. The tone of Waychoff's responses to the people who relied on them for honest and quality products and service were hard and callous to their circumstances. This speaks volumes about the (lack of) character Waychoff has as a company, and shows that their primary goal is money over providing a quality service at a fair price, which would lead to economic growth. As I stated, I hired Waychoff to do some duct work. Waychoff's representative stated confidently and emphatically that we would realize an appreciable improvement over our air flow situation at the time. We signed off on the work. After spending a significant amount of money, we have only gained marginal improvement, at best, in our air flow situation, nothing like what the Waychoff representative promised. It's hard to find a reputable company that operates with integrity and fairness, and deliver on its promises. I can say with confidence Waychoff is not that company. All of the available information points to this conclusion. To find a reputable contractor, you cannot forego the hard work of research. There is no easy way. You must do your due diligence. Even doing the heavy lifting, you cannot guarantee a positive outcome. But, you will reduce the chances of being taken by a company like Waychoff, that's out to get every penny they can from you. All of those fancy tv advertisements cost money -- money that comes out of your pocket if you fall prey Waychoff. I don't know about other companies, but I have had experience with Waychoff. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. To be forewarned is to be forearmed. Finally, caveat emptor - 'let the buyer beware.' read more

After a bitter bitter experience with another company, I called Waychoff's to check my air conditioning unit which kept turning off. Required information was gathered, price quoted, and appointment made. The technician called as scheduled, showed up, very professionally dressed in their uniform, explained what he was doing, and was out in a hour. Paid by credit card and received a receipt by email. They are over priced for their service and I would not recommend them. Their maintenance plan is a joke. My AC is fairly new, but somehow always needed a new part for every "maintenance" visit. Used them for a 59.00 tune up which is just an inspection per Ricky(owner) and Unit went out within the week. Technician said he vaccumed outside line but that was the issue that made unit not work. I asked for readings for Freon, capacitor/amp etc and he said need to buy the maintenance plan. I used the same 59.00 plan last year but gave a detailed list in which the owner said he did too much for the service call. I informed the owner that you should have a checklist for each technician so you know what was done and not. He basically said NO because it's 59.00 they need to get in and out. So buyer beware.. you might get a good technician and one that just inspects. read more
