I only bought this home a month ago and my air conditioning went out. Being from the north I wasn't familiar with heat pumps. 87-year old dad's AC was working fine until they showed up for the EXPENSIVE annual checkup. Technician says it needs an additional part and some kind of upgrade. Dad calls me at work upset because he's been taken advantage of numerous times. I can't believe how much these people charge! Definitely taking advantage of elderly in our case. TWICE A YEAR checkups are unnecessary and literally pay for the AC unit twice. I would never pay this much for a "check up". But okay, dad says he wants it. He's been paying them for this ripoff for years apparently. But I can't go over there from work to pay them, so I call the office and ask them to just bill us since we've locked down his credit card to protect him, but no, they won't bill us, they want cash now. They call the technician, who leaves and does not restore the AC to its original working condition prior to the technician's arrival. He literally broke it. Not only that, he didn't say goodbye and he left dad's garage door wide open. Vulnerable to attack, all the cool air going out into the heat of Florida. My AC blowing warm air & turned it off (to save electricity) and made a online appt. for 11am on Monday 10/21/19. Received phone call from their office gal confirming all info I already had given & ok for 11am appt. Tech called at 11:16am & said on his way & should arrive in 20mins. & his name is Tyler. So I guess my 11am appt. was not! I told tech what happened with unit & I shut it off. Lots of (sales pitch) questions followed & I knew then this was not going to be ok. Tech said condensor was hot & he couldnt check further till it cooled down? I told him unit OFF more than 12hrs. how could it be hot? Then more questions,ie when filter last changed, when last freon, etc. I knew whatever I said it was going to lead to a "thats why unit not working". Then tech made a cell call & was describing all he had done(so far-not much)including hosing down unit with water hose. I called my husband & told him I did not think this tech was experienced in this field & was told to just pay him for service call & get another company. I had to in to take care of kids & by time I went out to dismiss tech, he said he found problem & got AC running. $525.00 bill, tech claims found problem part & replaced it. I told tech bill too HI & I was not given estimate of cost nor copy of bill. I had to call the office & was emailed a incomplete copy of the bill-did not reflect the "discount coupon" over $250.00 work. Water spots on the ceiling below our AC unit began to form and grow which could've turned into a disaster, but Waychoff's had a technician out to us within half an hour. My wife and I have used Waychoff's since 2000, and have never been displeased with their service or timeliness in resolving an issue. In 2009, we used Waychoff to install a new Bryant unit, and aside from minor maintenance calls and one minor service call that was covered under warranty, we have had no problems with the unit - until a couple of days ago. Our indoor air handler was running constantly, and the outdoor unit was only operating occasionally, so we called for service within a few hours of the issue beginning. Our technician arrived within 3 hours of our call and proceeded to diagnose the issue as a bad fan controller, with the fan motor and compressor motor both on the verge of failure. All items were covered under warranty. The technician explained that even though the items were under warranty, labor and "warranty processing fees" were not. Since not repairing is not an option due to the fact that the fan constantly running would drive electrical costs through the roof, and that our daughter suffers from breathing issues in the heat, we agreed to pay. The total cost for approximately 5 man-hours of labor and the warranty processing? $1375. The reason for my 2-star review is the level of detail in the invoice that was emailed to us. The invoice was two line items of service call: $86 and service call: $1289. No explanation of parts replaced and unit cost, no explanation of labor hours or warranty processing fees. It is impossible to tell if you're getting a good price for the services provided if the invoice offers no explanation other than the narrative from the technician. This was our first less-than-stellar experience with Waychoff's - and just to be perfectly clear, this two-star is not because of their service (which was quick and resolved the issue) but is because of the CLARITY of their invoicing and the seemingly high price for labor and warranty processing. read more

Do not use Waychoff's Air Conditioning Company unless you want to overpay for your A/C unit and Service Calls!!! My unit was very expensive and never worked properly from the day of installation! This unit is only 31/2 years old and still under warranty! And, even though the unit is under warranty the service calls and parts were very expensive!!! The A/C unit constantly leaks water and has to be vacuumed out every week during the summer. I was very surprised to see all the poor reviews on this company!! We have been using Waychoff's for almost 3 years now and have never had a bad experience! From the customer service techs in the office to the technicians that come out, everyone has always been very helpful and accommodating!! We had an incident last Sunday where are AC went out. I called Waychoff's and Chase was out to our home in under 2 hrs from my call. He was able to figure out the problem and repair it quickly! This is not the first time we have had emergency service needed, prior to that our AC died in August and I was 8 1/2 months pregnant. They could not fix our AC that day due to needing to order parts, but they made us a priority and got it fixed the following day. Give them a try, I don't think you will be disappointed!! read more

I don't like having to sign 3 places on their blank (i-pad?) they hand you; you can never get a complete, itemized printout of what they did and why they did it. It's frustrating to call the office FIVE times hoping to finally get a complete and thorough printout as to what was done and how much each part cost without getting a condescending "Interesting...." from the young ladies when you assure them that what they sent you does not have as much information as past ones. I keep all e-mails and even sent them an example so they could have looked to see what I was talking about if they had only bothered. We keep files at home on all of our major equipment (appliances, autos) so we know what was replaced, when and why - so apparently we are not going to have one for our November 5, 2021 issue. We had a couple of things replaced that were over $200 just for the labor. Also the techs do not thoroughly check their work when they are done and I called them both out on not tightening those panel cover bolts, and the last time there were bolts missing from the panel of the inside unit. On this last occasion, I phoned the office back and asked them to send the tech back out here to replace the missing bolt. He came back promptly, and then proceeded to inform me which bolt would need to be replaced next, because they tend to wear out and you have to go to a bigger one. (So, knowing this, why did he not take the opportunity to do it right the first time?) We paid for their twice yearly maintenance program, and I expect that they will come out and do their job thoroughly without me having to check up after them. After the last tech left, I found that he had just taken a bolt out of another location on our panel and put it where the missing one was, so now we still have a missing bolt elsewhere. (Seriously, you can't afford to outfit their worktrucks with bolts?!??) They don't seem to care like they did when they sold us a $7K system 5.5 years ago. Here's what happened from day one: brand new system was installed in 2016; that first day, they claimed they had bad coolant that had "trash" in it, and they had to drain it and re-install. They also had to wait for some other part, so no operating brand new a/c for one day. We were concerned that this "trash" in the coolant, which had circulated throughout our new system, was not only going to violate our warranty but ruin our system. We were assured it would not. Two years later, our system completely quit in the middle of summer. They could not get anyone out for FOUR DAYS. Don't believe their flowery ads. Sadly, we have found that Waychoff's is no better than anyone else out there. Some techs are better skilled, more personable, and more customer service oriented than others. You cannot count on getting them every time. read more

One of the worse companies I have ever dealt with. They were going to charge over $200 to hard restart the compressor. Another AC company had no such charge when they fixed the underlying problem. Waychoff will also threaten to disconnect your AC in the Florida summer instead of working with you when a problem arises such as asking for a couple of extra days to pay the bill. The dollar bill is their number #1 priority. Expect to pay more than the average competitor if you use these lying thieves. read more

Jacksonville, FL. Waychoff's charged us for 3+ lbs of coolant to our unit. In less than a week, we were hot again. I called the business and spoke with Nicole (very nice and professional). She took detailed information and said she would have the supervisor, Billy, give me a call. After more than a week of not hearing from Billy, I called again and spoke with Nicole again. She assured me that she had given Billy info and informed him I was expecting a call. Nicole said she will inform Billy again. I never received a call back from Billy!!!!! Very unfortunate, we wasted over $400 with this company and couldn't even get the courtesy of a call back from supervision. I would not recommend them to anyone and would not have them return to our residence for anything. Yes they are open on Sundays but it's not worth the waste of money. read more

Very happy with my AC service with Waychoff's for the second year in a row. I see the negative reviews posted here on yelp, and I'm sorry to see them. But, it hasn't been my experience. Communication is good, technician shows up on time, explains the issues in non technical terms (or technical, if you want it), lays out the options. No pressure. No pressure to scrap the aging system and get a new one. Took good care not to get mud in the house. Friendly, personable, prices seem reasonable compared to others ( and I have tried several other services over my years in JAX). Excellent service, in my experience. read more

We bought 3 brand new unit from Waychoff's. Since they installed these new units, we have horrible smell coming from vent all day long. They said that caused by mildew & mold inside of handler and very common in south. They said that it called "wet socks syndrome". The only way to eliminate this smell is to install a device call Air Knight which cost about $2,000.... We have been living in Florida 20 years but we never experienced air coming out from vent smell like this until Waychoff installed our NEW units. Even our old unit never smelled like thud at all.... I was talking with someone few days ago who also happen to use Waychoff, and she said same exact thing. Waychoff told her that she needs to install $2,000 Air Knight to eliminate the wet dog smell.... Another thing is that since We got these 3 BRAND NEW A/C unit from Waychoff, we have so many A/C problem. We have been calling for service every 2-3 month to solve some kind of problems. I never had this many problem With A/C before. We have one right now again. Won't even blow air at all.... But we will call someone else. No more Waychoff for,us, we are so done with them.....way too many problem in 2 years since we got these units from Waychoff. __________ OK, its been several months since I wrote this review.. We had call Waychoff's again, because air is not crisp & kinda luke warm. The usual guy showed up & said that he need to vacuumed out water out of pipe. He use machine to suck the water out. And charge was $180. We did this twice in 6 month because air got warm again 3 month after he did this vacuum thing. I got tired of this problem with my BRAND NEW A/C unit. So I finally called another company, CHASE AIR. Chase Air came in 3rd time i need to "suck out water from pipe" service. Chase air said "no, ma'am, it have to be PUSH OUT, not such up"....... And he also told us that the pile that cause this problem ever 3 month & costed us $180 each time, was installed WRONG. The pipe was tilted toward to handler. that's why water stayed inside pipe to cause this problem every 3 month. So Chase Air pushed water out or pipe, then bring the pipe to right angle. All this took about 1 hour or so. He was up & down many many times (our handler is in attic) until my A/C work perfectly. And you know the charge was? $59...... Waychoff charges $180 every time he comes & he was there only for 5 minutes each time. I am huge fan of CHASE AIR..... fast service, honest, and reasonable!! Chase Air, everyone!! read more

My a/c broke down over the weekend. The repairman came out on Sunday which I was very grateful for. He tried to fix it but was not successful and stated that I would have to replace it. I was still charged the $85 which would of been fine. However, he told me that one of the sales associates will give me a call me the following day to set up an appointment for someone to come out and give me an estimate on a replacement. No over ever called me back. I had a few different companies come out for an estimate. The last company that came out actually fixed my AC! I still have to replace it but the house has been without any type of AC for 3 days! That means that there was no need for anyone in my house to have suffered thru the heat this entire time. I would leave 4 stars for the service maybe 5 but I am leaving 3 stars , I have used the service several times , quick and honest but my experience with the salesman was less that comfortable. My ac is out so I call three places for estimates , 3 appointments 1 hour apart. They all arrive at the same time I assume trying to beat the rain , Waychoffs is 30 minutes early based on the appointment I get from the office . I am ok with this but the salesman from Waychoffs was not. He is upset as soon as he sees another estimator and makes the whole situation uncomfortable with his pouting. I have 3- 5 star Angie's list companies and he talks down about them and is so upset he calls them in professional. First off a hot house and a diva salesman are not a good mix. The salesman follows up with a call this morning and I tell him I went with another company and he tells me I will get a poor installation from the company who was lower in price. To be honest with you he lost the job the minute he belittled the other companies and my level of knowledge. I just tolerated his desire to force his will on the process and to be nice . I liked the idea of financing but even with his estimates I had no trust in his estimates. You arrive early you are likely to cross paths with other estimators so don't let it lose you a job is my advice . You made the whole process uncomfortable. I have tried to reach the manager twice on this issue and they never call back. I know why! On 5/8/18 I had them out to our home for their Spring Tune up special. The technician was knowledgeable and professional. He did his tune up and then told me that we needed a hardstart assembly and replace the condenser fan. These "must do needs" came out to over $400. I have a home warranty service so I refused these add ons. Not less than a month later, 6/4/18 the AC STOPPED working. The technician for my home warranty came out (a local contractor) and fixed it in minutes. I showed him the bill from Waychoff and he rolled his eyes. The only thing wrong. Two wires were frayed and needed to be replaced!! UMMMM WAYCHOFF...... You owe me a $75 service call fee from my home warranty and an explanation of WHY your SPRING TUNE UP did NOT see those frayed wires that were OBVIOUSLY there and in need of repair just the month before. Don't trust. I wonder how many people went for the big stuff and suffered from little stuff that is not a money maker getting done? read more

Summary: Don't purchase a new A/C from Waychoff's. We've had to call them 3 times in 8 months. It's unacceptable and I will advise family and friends against this company. We purchased a new $6k+ air conditioner from Steven in Oct. 2018. He was nice, provided us with a portable unit for the night and then had the installation take place the next day. "We aren't the cheapest but we make up for it in quality and service." If only that were true. We've had to call Waychoff's with installation issues three times in SIX months of purchasing an expensive brand new unit. The first time the thermostat was incorrectly calibrated - no big deal. The second time it was snowing insulation in my garage because the ducts weren't sealed properly. Most recently, in the heat of June, our unit completely stopped working. The newly installed quick connect had melted, no one could come out until the next day and we had to purchase additional floor fans for all rooms, including my infant's room. When I spoke to the manager of sales, Mike, because Steven wouldn't return my call, I explained to him my lack in confidence in the abilities of his technicians. I'm concerned for issues in the future due to this track record of installation inadequacies and now quality of their air conditioner and parts. He said, "Rest assured we're in your corner 24/7." I reminded him that we went an entire night without a/c with an infant even though we have a brand new unit. He said they've been "backed up for two weeks, we only have so many technicians." I requested an extension in their service warranty but was denied. He offered a complimentary maintenance check (which doesn't help) instead for our inconvenience. So no, Waychoff's is not in your corner 24/7 or at all for that matter. They're friendly while they try to make the sale but no further. I would advise against using them, especially if you have young children and want to have air conditioning for them in the middle of Florida's summer. read more

We called Waychoff's because they were the company that installed the AC system when the house was built. We still have 5 years warranty left on the parts and unit. Waychoffs sent a guy really quick and he said it was a bad capacitor. The Tech called the office and then and came back in and said that they could not honor the warranty on the capacitor because it did not look like it was the original capacitor and that it would be something like $192 for a capacitor. We told him no and that was too much and it should be covered under warranty. We paid $86 for a service call. I called another AC company and they sent a guy out and they had no problem replacing the capacitor under warranty. This company did not charge us anything because we got ripped off by Waychoff's. We will not use Waychoff's again. read more

I don't know if I got my monies worth or not. I watched the person conducting the service and he seemed to do a good job. I didn't see any cleaning and thought that is what I paid for. The biggest problem I had was the parts cost. He didn't have one of the parts so he was doing paperwork and finding out the resolution for the replacement part. That gave me some time to look up the part number. I looked up the part and it was $20. Waychoff's price was $230 for the part. That is highway robbery! It takes all of 5 minutes to change out the part and I will happily do it myself. read more

Waychoff's installed our HVAC unit for the previous owners of our home. We have had them come out on a couple of occasions for regular service and a problem. In all instances, the technicians were very professional in their work, appearance, and interactions with us. What I really liked, besides the fixing/maintaining, was that there was full disclosure of any needed or anticipated actions. All our questions were answered fully, and if the tech didn't have the answer, he didn't hesitate to call and find out. We couldn't be happier with the service we received and they will be our go-to company for HVAC work in the future. read more

I would give them zero stars if possible. I ordered a new AC heat pump system from them. When they came to install it, the unit did not fit. They tried to sell me on turning the unit around so it would no longer pull air from the hallway vent but from the closet door (unvented and facing the bathroom!) The owner did not even have the decency to return my phone call to the office. I had to ask the installers to put my unit back together and leave. Luckily, my unit still worked and I was able to find a reputable AC company to do the job. read more

I had 2 brand new units installed by Wyckoff and have had 6 repairs that may or may not have been covered by warrantee. Ironically, the last repair both units had the same part go out at the same time (suspicious?) and both were covered under warrantee - but I had to pay over $800 for Wyckoff to fill out the paperwork for the warrantee? Purchased an AC from Waychoff's. Worked well for 2 1/2 years. Come home from work and house is hot. Call emergency service. No reply.. Call again, no reply. Finally was told tech would be there between 10am and noon next morning. I leave home at 8am to go buy a replacement filter from Walmart. I notice that a Waychoff truck is 3 condos down. 35 minutes later I get a call to see if he can come early.(finished neighbors job quickly) I know why. I met him 10 minutes later, he came in and looked at the unit walked out back and said the capacitor needing replacing. Took my check and was gone in 7 minutes. I return home from work and its 82 degrees in my home with over night guests coming. Call and finally raise enough hell that a SUPERVISOR calls me. I spent approximately 1.5 hrs trying to trouble shoot the AC problem through calls and text. Supervisor apologizes and says will not charge for the service and will have tech there at 8am sharp. 8am comes around and no tech. I was suppose to be at work at 8:30 no big deal , it's just money. Call the office and after much BS finally talk to someone with clout. Leave work to meet tech at 3pm (again it's only money). Tech arrives (a different one) and he was amazing. He actually troubleshot the problem and fixed it. HE DID HIS JOB. He leaves and I am happy. NOW two weeks later they have cashed my check. They said there would be no charge for the problems and the time I missed from work because of their Unprofessional, untrained in a hurry technician. Only problem was this account is not a daily account and it now will probably bounce. This company needs better follow up and a way to talk to a MANAGER or someone that has a name on the building. read more

I called Waycoff's to have an AC unit cleaned on a house I am selling. (I had a home inspection report saying coils needed to be cleaned and half of a heat strip needed to be replaced.) I scheduled a system cleaning. However, when the technician arrived and I read the inspection report to him, he said that type of cleaning would be $500, not the $90 I had agreed to on the phone. After much back and forth with the office personnel, I requested a credit of the $90 towards the more expensive cleaning. Waycoff's refused. The receptionist said I should have asked more questions on the phone. Maybe, but maybe, since they are the experts, they could have worked with me instead of against me. Terrible customer service from a receptionist with an attitude! I'll never use them again. read more
