If you want to be treated like a head of cattle instead of a human being, here's your dealership! We leased a new CX-5 from Wayne Mazda in 2019 and, had I reviewed them at that time, the rating would have been higher. The lease end process with this dealership has been nothing short of dehumanizing-- and since they don't seem to respond to negative reviews here, I doubt they care, but let my cautionary tale warn you away.
Even though our lease isn't up until October, I started getting pummeled with emails beginning in May. I made a service appointment for the beginning of July and agreed to see a lease specialist while I was there. I guess that's when they smelled blood in the water because between "service appointment confirmations" and "leasing specialist appointment confirmations", I was getting 6-7 calls A WEEK - mind you, I had to book the service appointment 6 weeks out so you can imagine how I feel when "Wayne Mazda" pops up on my caller ID now.
During my service appointment, I was scheduled to meet with Atavia, but ended up meeting with Dan C, who was friendly enough and took the time to give me the numbers and information I needed. We agreed to connect again soon and I mentioned bringing my husband back with me to make our final decision. Well, shortly after that visit, my whole family came down with Covid and it took a while to come back around to making a next appointment - we were contacted by a different lease specialist (Atavia) who claimed she'd be handling our account. So we made an appointment WITH HER for today at 1 pm.
We show up at Wayne Mazda, they page Atavia to let her know we've arrived, and within a few minutes they come back to let us know she's tied up with a customer and we'll be meeting with Dan instead -- all good, I figured, as he was who I'd spoken with before. After we'd been standing around for no less than 30 minutes, we're told Dan is also tied up with a customer and sit us down with a third sales rep, Alex. We explain to Alex that if we enter a new lease, we'd be interested in something with more space and would like to test drive both the CX-50 and the CX-9. "Well those are two totally different cars," he told us flatly. Right...which is why we want to *test drive* both of them.
After a lackluster test drive (very little effort to engage us at all, very little information about the cars shared), we ultimately decide to buy out our CX-5. At that point, with no shiny promise of a new lease commission dancing in his eyes, Alex became even more robotic and impersonal. He went back and forth to the office no less than 3 separate times to get us the numbers we needed and began speaking only to my husband. Mind you - the lease was in my name, and I had been their sole point of contact for the entire life of the lease, but sit back little lady, I guess *buying* a car is a man's job. How embarrassing!!! (Not for me, but for the sales managers at Wayne Mazda to not drill this behavior out of their sales reps in the year of our Lord 2022.) At one point, I went to enter my information as a co-applicant and after asking my husband if he had good credit, Alex told my husband "she doesn't need to do that." SHE - as if I weren't sitting right there?
Of course, as you can imagine from the other reviews, the numbers suddenly jumped up almost $4k from what Dan had originally quoted me three weeks prior. Maybe it was tax, maybe it was more "mystery fees" as others have mentioned - at that point, we had been there for nearly 4 hours and just wanted to get out. Not only did we not meet with who our appointment was scheduled for, despite being essentially harassed into making said appointment for weeks, we ended up meeting with someone who had no idea what our situation was and couldn't be bothered to even pretend to care.
Their claim to fame is the free oil changes for life, and that they have the largest inventory in the area. I know the car market is rough out there folks, but unless you want an experience that meets every ugly stereotype of a car dealership, stay far far away from Wayne Mazda. Mazda as a brand should be embarrassed to have this dealership representing them, as they've definitely soured my opinion towards what has been an otherwise great car. read more
