My lunch special is tuna and salmon combo arrives bright in color, firm, and fresh sticky rice. I added more crisp green veggies, extra seaweed, and fresh mangoes. I order this online and it always arrives just as I ask, fresh cuts, no fishy smell, packaged unscathed (that means a-lot when you're ordering lunch delivery across town) and with all the little extras. Omg! I am in love with this place. There should be a button where I can give over 5 stars! If there really was, I would give this a 1000 stars!! The owner was so kind to me and gave me a complimentary appetizer! The food was delicious times 100. Not only was the owner really kind, but also tender-hearted. This is my favorite sushi spot . It's right across the street from my job . This spot is in Brooklyn on Myrtle Ave in Clinton Hill. They have lunch special 2- 3 rolls under $20 . You can pick your roll . I love their spicy tuna , spicy salmon and Unagi ( eel ) rolls with either avocado or cucumber . I've had both and prefer the cucumber. Eel is cooked if you didn't know . My other favorites are the Yaki Udon which is a specialty along with their excellent Ramen soup . For appetizers I usually stick with the pork buns . My friends and I ordered take out from this spot recently. I decided on the salmon teriyaki dinner bento box ($19), which was quite a lot of food! The meal consisted of 3 nice sized pieces of salmon, white rice, veggie tempura, shrimp shumai, salad, and roll of my choice. I selected the shrimp tempura roll. The salmon was wonderfully tender, succulent, juicy, and I enjoyed the sweet, teriyaki sauce full of flavor that accompanied it. The veggie tempura (broccoli, onion, carrot, sweet potato) was also really tasty. The batter was delightfully crispy and light. In addition, the veggies were nice and fresh. The shrimp shumai was great! It was cooked to the perfect texture and well seasoned. The shrimp tempura roll was yummy and had a lovely, satisfying crunch. Prices are quite reasonable and I had plenty of food left over. There are some yummy sounding Rice and Noodle dishes, Special Rolls, and Desserts. This is a great little Japanese spot on Myrtle. It is definitely targeted towards students, as it is right near Pratt design school. The lunch specials all $12-17 for sashimi and/or nigiri, and dinners are around $20 for more pieces. All sushi offerings were substantial. Their Ramen and Pokies are all beautiful as well. I'm an 8 year hardcore fan of Saketumi In Brooklyn Heights, and we live directly between Saketumi and WAZA in downtown Brooklyn. It is so refreshing finding another offering in the area that's walking distance (15-20 mins). WAZA was a real find. We've been in for lunch 2x, dinner once. Came here on an afternoon the day before Thanksgiving. I ordered a Pokebowl for the very first time. It was interesting. It's basically an Asian salad with everything not mixed in. I ordered a large Pokebowl with mixed greens and everything else except of onions. I should've told them no sesame seaweed and no avocado and edamame. Oh well. The bowl itself was not bad but the yuzu dressing was terrible. I would get it again but not with that dressing. The place had nice decor with good amount of seating. I don't even know why I keep ordering delivery. It's a nightmare every time. I order delivery because I work in a store that I can't leave. Typical for this neighborhood. But don't pull up, honk at me repeatedly from the street when I have a store full of customers, hand me my food out your wet car window as I'm running out, then demand I sign a receipt on your wet car before returning back to work. If you offer delivery service, then fucking deliver. Why does this keep happening? Waza is a great addition to Myrtle ave. strip in the hood. Go for their Ramen, it is DELICIOUS*, porky goodness, better than some places I have tried in the city. They also give you a generous amount of sliced meat, unlike other joints. Their sushi is not bad, fish is fresh. My only critique is that while the sushi looks huge, it is only big in size because they pack a lot of rice. I wish they can cut back the rice a little. The staff are always pleasant and attentive. Ordered food by calling the restaurant. I've had numerous people who stopped giving Waza business and have warned me about their delivery service and I should have listened. They are known to take a while, at least an hour. This is fine with me as long as the food is warm and good. Food here is a bit more expensive than the other normal Japanese restaurants in this neighborhood. With that said, food was good I must say. The big issue here is the service and the follow-up after my complaint to the restaurant. The delivery guy begged me to come out of my apartment and come outside to get my food! He refused to come upstairs!!! The whole point of delivery service is so that I don't have to move. I was in my pajama shorts. When it was time for me to sign my receipt, he smiled and said Happy New Year. Irritating. I called the restaurant to complain and I got a sorry and the sound of the phone hanging up. I'm a super loyal customer. But after this, I'm saddened that I can't order from here anymore. Poor running the business, food is not always everything. I'm so glad a noodle soup place finally opened up in this neighborhood. Especially since winter is around the corner. The decor is contemporary and really cute, with their chalkboard wall and ocean chalk drawings. It's also BYOB, which works since there are a bunch of delis surrounding the place. Ramen: Not the best I've had, but still pretty tasty. Although it doesn't compare to the ramen houses in Manhattan, it is much better and filling than Chuko. My favorite is their Waza Buta Kakuni and Spicy Tonkotsu, both are $10. I like that they give you half an egg with every bowl. Some ramen places charge extra for that. Sushi: Their heart and soul roll was pretty good and the tuna was fresh. I like that they creatively made it a heart shape too. Appetizer and Salad: -Avocado salad was standard (avocado on top of field greens, a few tomatoes, and cucumbers). Although I was not crazy about their dressing, I still thought it was good. -Sexy Jalapeno (jalapeno peppers stuffed with spicy tuna, then fried) was tasty. Overall: Food is good and so is the service. I also like that I don't have to wait in crazy long lines or get there before it opens to avoid waiting forever. The kani salad is a spicy, crunchy explosion of textures and refreshing flavors that include crab, masago that "pops" in your mouth, fresh veggies and cold mayo dressing. The fried California roll with sauces is to die for. The shrimp shumai is also very tasty. The chilled Black Bottle sake is as smooth as Billy Dee. I'm no expert, but it's some of the best I've had. The sushi isn't bad, but the assembly was a tad sloppy. I had a roll with cooked onions and a crunchy crust on top, which was a bit odd with the cooked onions, but totally doable. Really want to give this place a better review. :-( The space is super cute. Chalkboards with intricate designs on the walls. Booth and table settings that are comfy. The food is average. We got take out of Spicy Tonkatsu, a naruto roll, with a three roll lunch combo. Everything was decent. The broth was really yummy and the pickled egg was perfect! The service leaves a lot to be desired. On that take out order they didn't give us the shumai, miso salad or soup that comes with the lunch combo. So we called and told them and they gave us a credit...everything is great so far. So two days later we decide to get ramen and sushi again and to use our credit. They remember us cause of my OC phone number, but wouldn't give us the credit cause it isn't in their system. Sorry, whaaaat?? Essentially they said they wouldn't honor the credit, so we said fine can we order anyway...and after ten minutes of trying to put in an order we gave up and ended up getting Thai food from their competators across the street. :-( Such a shame cause their rolls and ramen weren't bad. read more

If we're going for taste, I'm giving it 5 stars, but I need to give a overall rating, so I'm going with 4. After they are open a little longer I think it can easily be 5. I stopped in today, it's the grand opening. Since it was the grand opening I got 15% off. Woo! The lunch special I got was 2 rolls + miso soup, it came to about $8. The only downside was they were really slow. I take it they are working out kinks per the opening, but I really waited a long time for 2 rolls. There were a few people eating in and I heard them mumbling that their dishes arrived one at a time so one person ate while the others waited for theirs. Then 2 dishes arrived and the others waited for theirs. ETC. The wait staff was very nice. NOW TO THE FOOD. DELICIOUS! I get basic rolls, but these were no ordinary rolls, they had something special. I like that do the rice on the outside, with scallion (?) on top. The salmon and tuna were super fresh. I judge restaurants by their miso soup and theirs was delicious! Bonus points for takeout extras - they give you a little dish for your soy sauce, usually noone does that for take out. I will be back (probably alot). Ordered the Party Platter D for delivery and we were super happy with it! The fish was so fresh and beautifully organized in the platter. It was a great variety of sashimi and sushi (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, mackerel, white tuna, white fish, kani) and 4 rolls (spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, rainbow, dragon). I had a terrible and shocking moment at this restaurant. The food was ok but I went there with my Asian friend and was treated like a dog. She cleared everything he used as soon as he was done and even packed his to-go box before she removed any of my plates even though I finished Everything before him. He even had to cation her at one point that he was not done with a plate; on the other hand, she would not even make eye contact with me. Came back here last Friday with a friend and had to take off a star. The sushi here continues to kick ass (the salmon and avocado roll was so fresh it was ridiculous, and the Myrtle Lover roll was the awesome-st, hugest roll ever with seriously like 10 ingredients), and the shrimp tempura ramen was pretty good and had super creamy broth. However, our service wasn't great. We had a bunch of different people waiting on us, and while they were all nice, one of them spilled my friend's sake and never brought us any more. She also never returned to the table. We ended up having to pay for our sake that we never got to finish because it was spilled-- not awesome. I still love the food, though! read more

WAZA is the closest ramen place to me, so I go there when I want something quick and not too expensive. The pork dumplings are delicious. Edamame is as expected. Now, I've had the tonkatsu ramen three times now (once in restaurant and once takeout), and I thought I liked it in the restaurant, but the second time, the broth was flavorless. I wanted to dump soy sauce into it so it tasted like something! I was pretty disappointed because the broth is what gives flavor to the entire dish, so the whole thing was pretty bland. For me the goods about Waza are their lunch bento boxes. Priced around 12, you can have a filling, balanced meal with soup, sushi roll, rice, meat, salad and some hot veggies.
