I'm almost ashamed to say that I had never been here before. This place has been around for a long time and could be older than me. Went here for breakfast. Covid friendly, they put panels over 6' tall up between tables. This is a small restaurant, not sure it would hold 50 people under normal conditions. Also have take out available with outdoor pick-up. Friendly Staff. My buddy's wife had pancakes and bacon. Looked good and bacon appeared crispy. She didn't have complaints so considered it to be ok. My buddy had ham and cheese omelet, he likes his food and would have said something if he didn't like it. He and I split chipped beef gravy on biscuits. Biscuits were fluffy, gravy was almost as good as I make, better than most places. I ordered a bologna sandwich ( let's face it if you're from the south and bologna is on the menu, its practically an obligation) I would have liked the bologna to be either thicker or more than a couple slices for almost a $5 sandwich. But it was fried so it was fine. My buddy and I both had home fries with onions. Sadly they weren't cooked together onions were sautéed and laid on home fries. Not sure how potatoes were cooked but I think they were frozen from a bag and and put in an oven. Overall it's worth going because it's really a retro place to eat. service was friendly and very quick. Most of the food was delicious, though I will echo the flavorless fries sentiment. We had pancakes, French toast and a cheeseburger and everyone enjoyed their meals. If it's a cold day, don't sit at the tables on either side of the door because you'll get a cold breeze every time the door is opened. I was puzzled about there not being a restroom and then realized you have to walk around the outside to the side of the building. We visited Weasie's Kitchen this past Sunday for breakfast as we were already staying near town and wanted to try something different that was not in Charlottesville or Stanton for that matter. And boy were we glad we did! I'll keep this short and simple for the average reader. If your idea of an excellent breakfast takes place at a fancy looking location offering Jumbo Chickpea Pancakes, tofu omelets along with toast with refried beans and avocado, safe yourself the hassle and go to either Charlottesville or Staunton. If your idea of a good hearty breakfast is perhaps ribeye steak with eggs and quite literally homemade fries, you are in luck here! Our breakfast was beyond this world and we just could not believe how inexpensive the place was for what we were getting. Any time we are nearby and need breakfast, this will be the place we will stop at. We are from Richmond, VA and are often in this area. Again, this is a hidden jewel and I hope it never changes. PS - The only item in some serious need of change is their coffee. I had already read that in a yelp review before we decided on this place and will have to wholeheartedly agree with that assessment. read more

I'd give this a solid 3 stars, maybe 3.5 if I could. I am pretty easy to please when it comes to breakfast, and this was just that- somewhat pleasing. The menu was a bit overwhelming and it was hard to figure out the different options/ what came with what. I thoroughly enjoyed the bacon, the eggs were pretty good, and the homefries (usually my favorite part of breakfast) weren't so great- a bit tasteless. Either way, like I said, I did enjoy the breakfast, it was just nothing special. I have to admit I like the hole in the wall feel of the place. I wouldn't suggest it as the greatest place to go for breakfast, but I'd go back for a quick, cheap breakfast and try it out again! read more

POOR MANAGEMENT. This place has nose-dived in the past 2 years. Rude manager/owner and very grandiose. This s a diner, not a fine dining. Been a resident of Waynesboro for 30 years and have 50 employees which I am pleased to say have excellent customer service skills. When I took a group out to breakfast at Weasie's they all commented over the poor service. A 45 minute wait. The food was nothing more than Sysco bought. If this place goes out of business, which I anticipate it will, I might just buy it and urn it around to a local favorite eatery. read more

We ordered the Vegetarian Omelette, Corn Beef Hash and Egg Sandwich. I really enjoyed the Omelette the cheese made the inside really creamy and delicious. Hubby enjoyed the Hash but thought the Egg Sandwich needed a tomato or something it was pretty plain. Customer service was great and food came out quick. Weasie's is a Waynesboro institution and a quintessential local, Southern, home-cooking, good-eating diner. You can't eat here every day but once in a while you need to stop in and enjoy this local treat. This morning I had one of their reasonably priced specials: a sizable serving of scrambled eggs, wonderfully cooked home-fried potatoes with onions, four slices of nicely crisp bacon, and toast. The coffee isn't exactly Starbucks -- I had to add some cream to give me some taste -- but it also didn't cost me an arm and a leg. In fact, my whole meal cost me less than one of those fru-fru concoctions at your local Starbucks. The service at Weasie's is excellent, with waitresses calling you "sweetie" and "honey," and you get to mingle with the locals. Best diner in Waynesboro. Although I have only been there for breakfast, Weasie's gets my order perfect every time. Parking is limited and if you're going on a weekend, you hope you can find a table or else you're waiting outside, but all of that is just part of the experience. The building is old, the bathrooms are outside and, yes, there are plenty of regulars 'perking over their coffee' whom are known to the waitresses by name, and probably order, but that, along with a perfect fried egg, make Weasie's what I dream about when I wake up a touch hungover on a Sunday morning. With that being said, I have to, in response to another reviewer, give a piece of advice of my own. Don't go to Cracker Barrel on the other end of town. Don't drive to the neighboring town (which may only be 9 miles away but takes 20 min to get to) to their diner. Weasie's is great and places like this are becoming harder to find. Support your local diner. NOT a Cracker Barrel. They're a dime a dozen. read more

Heard about this place on a local independent film, and decided to drop by for lunch. Ordered their special of fried chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes with gravy, and a buttered roll. At the start, this place didn't seem very welcoming to me. It was crowded with regulars that seemed to think they owned the place, and they all gave me a glare as I entered. The staff themselves seemed friendly enough, although they seemed more interested in chatting with the regulars than checking up on me. The food itself was not good. After attending a public school and working at a Boy Scout camp for many years, I could immediately tell that this was Sysco food. It is pre-made and cheap, with a $10 price tag slapped on it. It was no wonder that it only took 5 minutes to "cook" my food... Can't say that I recommend this place. While I would normally not recommend corporate businesses over local businesses, you could find better service at the Cracker Barrel, Panera, or Starbucks. read more

Firstly, I have been here many times in the past and considered the food to be pretty good. I just moved back to the area and wanted to have breakfast at the tried and true Weasie's. I was quite disappointed. My boyfriend ordered French toast, which came out pretty soggy and pitiful looking. It was supposed to be "texas toast" french toast, or so the menu said. it was just plain ole sliced white bread. I ordered pancakes and one egg, over easy. The egg was entirely cooked through, not over easy. The pancakes were decent, but the syrup that goes on them just tastes like corn syrup. There's nothing maple flavored about it. And the entire bottle is just coated in the sticky crap. The coffee, just eh. I've had better coffee from 7 Eleven. Secondly, one of the girls waiting on us had tons of bleach stains and holes in her work shirt. It also appeared as though she were wearing her bathing suit under it. If you're working in the kitchen where no one really sees you, this might pass. However, if you are working in the dining area where EVERYONE sees you, for goodness sake, wear something respectable. Don't come in to work looking as though you just spent all morning at the beach and then fell into a bucket of bleach on your way in. That's very unprofessional. Thirdly, NO restaurant should allow their wait staff to wear facial piercings at work. Every single member of the wait staff at this establishment had some sort of metal in their face; some had multiple piercings. This is just gross. No one thinks your lip rings are attractive, or appetizing for that matter. In fact, my boyfriend couldn't even look at the waitress while ordering because he was so grossed out from her THREE lip rings. I'm really surprised that management allows this just based on the large proportion of regulars from the older generation folks who generally disagree with the idea of any kind of piercings other ears. All in all, I doubt I'll be going back unless there is a dramatic change in the food and policies here. Having just traveled through New England this summer on the motorcycle, and across the country over the past few summers, this is type of place I seek out for breakfast when i'm in new towns. I check out Yelp. With that in mind i'm writing this review with a suggestion at the end. Rolling past this place, I'd think this is it, as its always crowded and looks like the building was repurposed from some other past. Being local, I took my son out to breakfast here thinking i'd get him a taste of the diner culture I've enjoyed while traveling. It sucked. Ambiance is typical diner; regulars, old men parked over coffee known by name by the waitresses. So with some experience with diners, this food sucks. I've been three times, prolly one time a year. I get the special, this time three eggs, bacon, and 2 blueberry pancakes. The bacon is greasy, cooler than I'd like, the eggs were ok, scrambled, and the pancakes were a bit gross. They were blue, like either the batter had aged for awhile or they used blueberry jam or something but not blueberries. They weren't great. Then there's the overall kinda gross ness of the place. Dishes and cutlery are sometimes dirty, kinda sticky tables and seats, just a feeling of gross. Again, its a diner, I get it... So if you'e traveling and reading this, looking for breakfast, here's my local suggestion. There's another diner, Basic City Diner, which is also way diner-y, also requires a bit more patience with diner-ness than is worth the quality of food, which is not present... instead, either go to the other side of town for the chain Crackerbarrel, or go west 9 miles on 250 toward Staunton (prounounced Stant'en- u is silent) and go to Rowes, right by the Interstate. It has what you're looking for in a breakfast diner. Enjoy! read more

Great if you want to wait more than an hour for sub par food. We had five people and ordered pancakes and omelettes. After an hour of sitting and watching other people who had ordered their food after us get their food, eat and leave we asked the waitress and she said that it takes a while depending on the order. Thy later said they were having grill issues. I get that things happen, but leaving customers waiting an hour for breakfast without even checking on the table or letting them know that food is going to take longer than expected is completely unacceptable. We got lost and found this place, and I can't wait to get lost again. Here is the honest to god truth, I found a place that made my grandma's mac and cheese. Ever break down and cry over food? Cause I sure did. I ordered an omelet to try and stay safe from any out of town food (I admit it I thought a place that might have previously been a car dealer ship might have raised my kitchen prejudice.) My husband however ordered a lunch menu food item and let me taste the Mac. EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. Like GOD himself came down and said this should be what breakfast/lunch should be. We drove into Waynesboro at 10:30 am on a weekday hoping to find a diner type restaurant for breakfast, and seeing the full parking lot at Weasie's we thought it looked promising. Self seating was immediate (1 of only 2 empty tables) and the menu was as we hoped - a wide array of breakfast options (3 of the 5 pages of the menu were breakfast) that were conventional - scrapple, sausage, homemade biscuits, creamed chipped beef, etc. We were pleasantly surprised that they offered both the typical preformed deep fried hash browns, but griddled home fries with sweet onions that were delicious. So many diner type restaurants have gotten lazy with the potatoes, but the home fries were the real deal. Quantities of everything we ordered was very good and the prices were much better than what we normally pay in the DMV area. The waitress misunderstood my daughter's potato order, bringing her the home fries instead of hash browns but she immediately submitted a reorder at no charge and did not affect any attitude, most gracious. My only complaint would be true so far of just about every diner style restaurant I've been in - the lack of a quality coffee option. I get it that many people prefer the weaker, standard big can coffees but it would be a nice touch to offer a premium choice for those who prefer a stronger, better quality brew. I gave this overall 5 stars because it exceeded our expectations in what it delivered in food quality, and quantity, vs. cost. If you were expecting to find a smoked salmon & avocado eggs benedict, or free range kale with organic chicken omelette made with gluten free eggs you're probably better off looking elsewhere. Very good breakfast and huge portions. I loved my pancakes in particular and the eggs and bacon were also cooked just right. I prefer my home fries a bit more done but those had good flavor and again, large portion. The restaurant is quaint and nice inside. It looks like an old diner from the outside but the inside is updated and very clean. The only flaw is that its pretty small inside and there's a pretty bad draft from the door inside when its cold out. Service can be a little slow too when they are busy but all the staff were very courteous. Its nice to have a little mom and pop diner with good home cooked food like this locally, especially when most restaurants in the area are generic, mediocre chains now. read more

I've been here once and plan on returning. This is such a great diner type place. It's got great ambience. The wait staff are friendly and I love the biscuits and country fries.
