    Out our back door

What a great time staying here. We were lucky Jimmy had a room available. Super clean and met several very nice people that have been staying here every August for the last 50 years. I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back.

View from room 13. That's my room every time!

I absolutely LOVE this place. The owner is a Doll! So is his sister who comes in to man the desk. His other gal that runs the desk has been with him for 25 yrs. no joke. These room are comfortable, some might think they are dated but I absolutely love it. You have very large rooms with fireplaces and kitchens, to a large room with large bathrooms. And clean! He always is jiving around there cleaning and doing maintenance and the gals who clean also look after the flowers around the place. It feels like a home because he lives on site. You want a chill, comfortable place to relax and unwind from the stress of life. Go here. Prices vary during the year and sometime the inert will even drop prices for you on the fly, especially if you stay for two days. And he always has great recommendations, so ask! The view here... you won't get a better one. You don't see Haystack from here, but a simple walk and its right there. Another great thing is that you can have fires right there in the beach right in front of your room. Just remember to kill the fire before you leave it. Oh, one other thing. There's a deck up too in the second floor. Where I love to stay. The sunny days and calm evenings, this is a great place to sit and read, talk with your hunny and have some wine.

My wife and I had a wonderful three night getaway here and, while the place isn't 100% perfect, we will definitely be coming back. First for the bad (which isn't really bad): this place is a bit older and some of the decor is dated and bit cheesy. And that's really it. Now for the good. Although a bit dated, everything worked perfectly and was very clean. From my vantage point on a second floor common deck, I could see the owner personally attending to many of the rooms and the property in general. He obviously takes pride in the place. Location. The location is amazing. First, you're right on the ocean and pretty much all of the rooms have ocean views. There is a large grass community sitting area immediately next to the beach, as well as a second floor community deck with chairs, a bench, and a table that affords a wonderful view of the beach and Terrible Tilly (a lighthouse). Second, you're just a block or two from the Cannon Beach commercial area (restaurants, coffee shops, stores, etc). We didn't have to move our car until we wanted to go to Ecola State Park. Finally, the wifi here is amazing. I know you're supposed to unplug when you hit the coast, but I have a monthly zoom call with my high school classmates that I took from the second floor deck. Many hotels advertise free wifi and then totally let you down. What good is free wifi when there's only single access point. And that access point is situated at the bottom of a 100 feet steel well casing? At Webb, the bandwidth was excellent. In fact, halfway through my call, a guy walked up the stairs to the deck to ask me how the service was. It turns out that he designed the wifi network and was checking on the quality of the signal. That's good service. As we packed our stuff up, my wife and I were already talking about when we would come back later this year.

    The view from Webb's.

We have been staying at Webb's for years and make a point to stay a week in the early fall every year. The location is spectacular. The rooms open onto a grassy area above the beach and to a stairway onto the beach, with a view northwest of Tillamook Rock, Ecola Creek and a beautiful stretch of beach and coastline. You can't see Haystock Rock from the property -- for that you have to walk two minutes onto the beach. It's two blocks to the main section of downtown and all of the restaurants and stores. The place has been able to maintain its 40s motor lodge feel but has been updated just enough. The rooms are always clean, and some are pet-friendly (we always get the same room at the north end of the first floor). The owners and managers are terrific. Prices are very reasonable, particularly considering the view and location. We have stayed up and down the Oregon coast over 20 years, and this is our favorite place -- we don't even think about going elsewhere anymore.

One of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in.

My wife and I stayed here recently (early June) for three nights…read more First, the location is great. On the main drag of S Hemlock, a short walk to a grocery store, Tolovana State Recreation Area, and the beach, as well as a few restaurants. The compound is a series of buildings with rooms that you enter from the outside. We were upstairs with our balcony overlooking the garden, which was nice. The day we checked in, the woman at the front desk was helpful, but for me, with a hearing deficit, she talked fast and I relied on my wife to interpret for me. No big deal, though. They offer cookies individually wrapped, which is a nice touch. In the lobby are tea and coffee. Our room had double queen beds, was clean, and had all the amenities: mini fridge, microwave, and hairdryer. Strangely, we found that our heater was on, and we had to investigate how to turn it off. There is no A/C, at least not that we saw. However, it does not seem to get hot there, so with the window open, not an issue. The bathroom had a small tub/shower but nice fan and great water pressure. The TV worked fine. The first morning, we checked out the complimentary breakfast. You have to walk across Surfcrest St into another compound called Lodges at Cannon Beach and back in the corner is the breakfast room (there is a sign that leads the way). However, we were not impressed. Except for the sausage, biscuits, muffins, and juice, we were not impressed. There were no scrambled eggs that morning, just hard boiled. I'm not a fan of biscuits and gravy. They don't have a waffle maker, so the waffles had been sitting out and, for us, not edible. Ultimately, we skipped the breakfast the next two mornings. Housekeeping did a great job of cleaning and tidying up our room each day. We appreciated that. Besides the unimpressive breakfast, I only had one other issue. About dusk the frogs start up in the pond at the center of the garden area where most rooms overlook. They are continuous and loud, so that we had to close the window to be able to sleep. There is a fan in the room, but we like fresh air and were unable to enjoy it. Overall, we were happy with the Inn At Cannon Beach.

After incredible experiences in…read moreBend and Newport, Oregon, my husband and I were excited to arrive in Cannon Beach, expecting the same warm hospitality we had encountered throughout the state. Unfortunately, that was not our experience at the Inn at Cannon Beach. My husband checked us in around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 16. We had booked a four-night stay. Although there were no other guests waiting and three employees were behind the front desk, he was greeted with a curt, "How can I help you?" There was no hello, welcome, or smile. The check-in process felt cold and robotic, with none of the warmth we had experienced at every other property on our trip. After settling into our room, we returned a few minutes later to request the complimentary pass to the local gym. A different employee provided the information with little enthusiasm. She mentioned the gym was about a mile away. When I asked whether it was walkable, she replied, "I can do it." I wasn't asking whether someone could walk it--I wanted to know whether it was practical and safe for visitors unfamiliar with the area. We decided to explore on foot. The route followed a busy road with no sidewalks, something that would have been helpful to mention. We also encountered several large elk roaming near the road and decided it was wiser to turn back. My husband asked to speak with a manager and was directed to the front desk supervisor, who was the same employee who had given us the gym information. He explained that, based on our check-in and subsequent interactions, we did not feel welcome and would prefer to leave if we could receive a full refund. She responded with a perfunctory, "I'm sorry you feel that way," agreed to refund our stay, and that was the end of the conversation. There was no attempt to understand our concerns or ask whether anything could be done to improve our experience. We were disappointed that our first impression of Cannon Beach came from a hotel where we felt like an inconvenience rather than valued guests. For a nightly rate of $500+, we hoped for better service. Although we had to scramble to find accommodations during the busy summer season, we ultimately found another hotel where the hospitality matched everything we had come to appreciate throughout Oregon.

We were able to get partial view of the ocean as well! It's probably just me but I always stress out when I book hotels that have carpeted rooms because people don't remove their dirty footwear. It's always so pleasant to spend my money on non-carpeted floors because I can clean the floor myself. With two toddlers in tow who love to touch, sit, and lay down in places they've never slept at before, this resort definitely helped relieve that stress! I really have nothing negative to say about this place. Upon checking in, we received two cans of beer, free of charge - not sure if that was because it was Thanksgivings weekend, or if it is some they they normally do - but that was a nice surprise to have. The rooms included dishes and utensils which was a bonus as well as a dustpan and broom for sweeping all the sand that comes in. The bed was comfortable and fit all four of us comfortably (we had a king-size bed). The bathtub was a bit odd just because there was a sliding window which when opened connected to the bedroom. Our kids had a hoot being in the bathtub while getting to watch tv at the same time - although there was also a tv in the bathroom. Location was absolutely perfect! A five minute walk to the beach! In addition, there were many restaurants to choose from in the area. We found it so convenient during dinner hours because when our toddlers were on the verge of meltdowns, we would get the check and walk to our rooms easily.

However, personally, I have not felt welcome here,…read moreand I also observe that many of the stated amenities or "perks" are not available, not working, or just not.....it's been death by a thousand cuts for me, and it's on top of the multiple racial micro aggressions I've experienced in this town in less than 24 hours. 1. Upon arrival to check-in, I observed one person at the reception desk being helped by the sole staff member, plus several folks hanging out in the lobby. After checking that no one else was waiting, I sat down to wait. They all left and I was the only person waiting. Of course, a white woman strolled right up to the desk from outside just as the other guest left, and instead of telling her I was there first, or even acknowledging me at all, the white staff person just helped her. 2. They say that pets names are on a welcome board when you arrive. My dog's name was not there and the board was tucked away against a wall. 3. I'm traveling alone with a dog, so I unload everything before bringing my dog into the room. After lugging everything to the door, my key cards did not work. When I went back to reception, there was no apology, or anything about accountability. Simply "oh let me fix that." 4. The room says that the TV is equipped with AppleTV, and even has a special button for it. Does not actually work. 5. They say they provided cookies in the lobby between 4-6pm. I checked in just after 4pm and there were none. 6. I took my dog out to sightsee and when we same back, again with my hands full, the key cards did not work again. So, I have to leave my belongings at the door, and run to the lobby with my dog in tow, to get the fixed AGAIN. funny how that happened again. 7. When we did open the door to the room the first few times, the smell of "old lady perfume" was so strong. I asked the front desk if that was intentional and she said it must be a cleaning product. It is way too strong and I can still smell it on day 2, even after airing the room out as much as possible. 8. The shower head is covered with lime, and the spray options do not all fully function due to how clogged the shower head is. 9. The bedding is way too light for the climate. So then you run the heater, and get too hot in the night. 10. The outdated fridge runs loudly at random times in the night. I'm on a long road trip with my dog as we move to Canada, and we've been on the road for 2 weeks and been to 5 states. I decided to splash out on this hotel because I'm a huge Goonies fan, and my dog loves the beach. Overall, I'm disappointed and I'd say this hotel is not worth it at all. I will not stay here again. For this amount of $$$, plus dog fees for me, this value is abysmal.

Updating my review over 3 years later! We have stayed at Ecola Inn annually for 4 years now. As my…read moreprevious review states, the view is incredible and it's always a fantastic stay every time. I wanted to add some details: You get 1 parking spot per room for the duration of your stay which is amazing and quite literally feet away from the famous haystack entrance. Bigger cars might prefer more ideal spots along the sides of the parking lot to reduce congestion of the entrance but those are limited. So plan the times you leave accordingly. Their booking system is different from anywhere else we've stayed. For the dates you stay, at check out, you get dibs on the same dates the following year. Which is why many guests have maintained the same reservation for many years. (That is also why it is always booked out) We see some of the same people every year which is also cool! It will require a $100 deposit which will be deducted from your total if choose not to book the following year. Otherwise that same deposit rolls over year after year. I found the full size refrigerator amazing for new moms who breastfeed and need to freeze their milk. I was able to continue my breastfeeding journey on vacation which I'm grateful for. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you need; silverware, dishes, new sponge, dish soap, salt & pep, roasting pan, frying pan, pots, cast iron skillet, microwave, oven, coffee etc. So for families with small children, this also means snacks & mealtimes can be cooked inside your room. (We stop at Costco in Warrenton on the drive over!) If you want the biggest room, choose room #5. It is up a flight of stairs so keep that in mind. It's so spacious. There's a back room with 2 queen size beds, tv & vanity. That's where our kids sleep and plenty of room to play. Bonus, there a door separating the main part of the room where there is another queen bed, kitchen, fireplace and of course, the killer view. They are very strict (as they should be) about fire department requirements regarding how many people can be in each room. There are zero exceptions to maximum capacity. So book accordingly, not based on how many beds there are. Children are included in that count. There is no traditional turn down service but clean towels are provided every morning if you wish. Guests are asked (or have been in the past via the handbook) to remove their own trash which is right under the stairs requiring little to no effort. Also to remove shoes at the door to prevent sand buildup on the carpets as it's difficult to remove. Out of respect for Rosa (who we love) and her staff, we make sure the room is clean of any dishes, garbage before we check out as well as stripping the sheets and leaving on the bed for easier turn down for the next guest. Dogs are allowed on the property granted you pickup after them & remain respectful. No leaving dog unattended. The lower rooms have direct access to the backyard for easy potty breaks. The weather here is kinda funny in the earlier months of the year because it will forecast rain the whole week and be sunny/beautiful for at least half the day. That said, it is windy sometimes with king tides so walks on the beach are dependent on that. Hope this helps! Check that website for opening dates and may the odds be in your favor!!
