Always great pastries from there, can't go wrong with anything. It was my niece birthday and she loves the fresh strawberry cheese coffee cake from there and the lemon bars. I called ahead and asked them to put 3 of the cakes on the side. My niece got one, my niece that moved here for school never tried it. Until now, she loved it and it was the best cake ever. By showing me the dimensions of the cake sizes, the way the colors would look, what fillings they can include. I did draw up my own way I wanted it to look and it came out exactly how I wanted!! I actually stumbled upon this place by mistake, and I'm sure glad I did. I bought the confetti buttercream cake slice for $3.50. It was sooooo delicious. The cake was extremely fresh, the butter cream had a great taste and I really enjoyed it. I asked the guy at the counter what he recommended he suggested the brownie, but unfortunately they were out so I went with his other selection which was the chocolate donut. I am not really a big fan of chocolate donuts, but I will say this one was very delicious. My only complaint about this place is it gets a little chaotic at times. It's very crowded, at least it was when I was in there. There also was no prices or names of items which I thought was kind of strange. So I had no clue what I was getting or how much anything cost. Honestly the best quality cakes and bread you can find out their in the whole Chicago area, so tasty and delicious. Service is top notch, despite they were packed all of the staff were fast friendly and so helpful I know that you can get cheaper cakes in many places but in my opinion you definitely get what you paid for and in reality is not even that much of a difference when it comes to price. Like I said the staff is friendly and welcoming, they even ask you if you want your cake decorated in a certain way depending the occasion with no extra charge. This may be a very popular bakery but it IS NOT WORTH IT! if you're disabled, I would recommend that you never step foot in this place. Not only is there zero customer service etiquette, the customers themselves act like savages. I mean really? When I am at home in Chicago for my birthday I always order my cake from Weber's. Visit here once and you will quickly find out why it has been around forever! This multi generational family owned bakery is a gem and whenever I get off the I-55 interstate on to first avenue going home, I have to stop at Weber's and load up on their delicious sweets and treats! I absolutely LOVE their cherry nut bread! Get it iced to just enjoy and eat or get it un-iced and slice it and toast it for a delicious toasted treat in the morning. Their cinnamon raisin bread is delicious as well! Their petit fours are delicious. Moist and so yummy! I also love their cupcakes, cookies and donuts! They are known for their outstanding special occasion cakes and wedding cakes! I do enjoy buttercream roses on my cake, so if you visit and order a birthday or other special occasion cake, pay extra for the buttercream roses instead of their wafer flowers they put on your cake. They are known for their beautiful rainbow sprays on their cakes and every cake is topped off with a little small chocolate on the bottom in the front that is imprinted with gold edible writing, Weber's bakery. This classic bakery is a staple when you speak of where to get a cake on the Southwest side of Chicago. I've been having their cakes on and off for the past 25 years of my existence the one word that comes to mind is consistency. Yes of course throughout those 25 years, the cost of their cakes increased but when I speak of consistency, I speak of both the quality and taste of their cakes. My family has been going to Weber's since before I was born. My grandparents lived on the south side of the city and moved out (via Archer Ave) in the late 40's and have stopped at Weber's every time they've come in or out of town to see the relatives. It's a long held family tradition, and we certainly wouldn't let a pandemic stop us in the middle of the holidays. We are one of the crazies that decided to get there when they opened at 4:30am, in hopes to beat the crowd of people who remembered to order in advance before the holiday. The line was small, but it moved quickly. They have little chicken roasters and a protected area outside of the bakery to help with the line, especially since they're limiting the number of people in side at one time. There are four stations set up, as well as the racks of pre-packaged cookies and goodies ready to go as you walk in. We always stop here to stock up on hoska bread. This time we also picked up a variety of cookies, as well as a pecan danish (because when you're standing there staring at them, you can't help but want one). We then had their chocolate topped butter cookies, peanut butter cookies, almond crescents, and kolackies to last us through to the new year, as well as to share with all of our neighbors and friends. We've been getting cakes and pastries for a while at webers and recently got our sons 1st bday cake from here. It was so beautiful and the Oreo buttercream was delicious but the cake was so dry. So I have had this place on my list for a while after it was listed on the top donut locations in Chicago. Finally got my chance today! It's Tuesday and I arrived around 9:30 a.m. There was a line outside of three people and they let 8 people in at a time. They have five separate ordering stations so the line went very quick! Unfortunately by this time, the donuts were pretty picked over but I snagged a glazed yeast donut and an iced cinnamon roll. Both were room temperature. The glazed donut was delicious! I got it for my husband but stole a bite. Glazed isn't normally my first choice but if it's your thing, this is a great one! It tasted like a bigger more dense Krispy Kreme (which is always delicious) 9/10! The cinnamon roll was also super tasty! It would be better if I could've warmed it up but I was in my car for the day so I couldn't. Either way, it was good! I would say one of the better cinnamon rolls that I have had from a bakery. Each layer was full of cinnamon gooeyness and the dough and icing were on point. I would also give this a 9/10. I can not express how HIGHLY disappointed Iam in this bakery I trusted them with my daughter sweet 16 cake and they failed. I showed up months ago with an inspiration pic and asked if it was possible they insured me that yes they can create it with maybe slightly different flowers. If I recall correctly the cost was over $500. They text me a picture of "my cake" and I thought they were joking it was hideous. The manager called and asked what was wrong. She said she would fix and send me a pic when it was done. The next cake was cleaner but still didn't look like my cake. The mangier called again and I explained this is no where near my cake and if they couldn't make it they shouldn't have took my money. She kept asking me how can they physically fix the cake all I could say was make it look like the pic. Im not a cake decorator I'm not sure why she was asking me. I had no choice to take the cake since we were at the hall and a couple of hours from the start time. We stopped in late afternoon and knew they weren't going have much to offer, but what I did ended up getting was delicious. They have a huge parking lot, and you take a number and wait your turn. This place is extremely busy with a lot of staff running around all over the place. And more staff in the back taking in cake orders. Everyone was friendly and it was very inexpensive for the quality that your getting. We bought a carrot cake slice and rocky road brownie. Both were phenomenal. The carrot cake was very moist with just the right amount of sweetness. The rocky road brownie was also tasty. Not too sweet, even with the extra chocolate and marshmallows. Weber's bakery is a Southwest Side of Chicago institution. I haven't been there in a while - but my husband's birthday was today and I got him a cake from Webers. The cake was spot on. Delicious and beautifully decorated. Here is my problem. We live in a world with a highly contagious COVID variant. I was shoulder to shoulder with people. Everyone was masked. But as we have all come to learn, omicron can evade masks. I think Weber's maybe should limit the amount of people coming in. My husband bought a strawberry banana torte from Weber's for my birthday. We have always loved everything from Weber's but this was a complete disaster. When we took the outer plastic shield that was wrapped around the torte off to cut the cake, the entire strawberry filling slid out and the torte collapsed. There were almost no strawberries in it and the few that there were, were whole and not cut. The strawberry filling was mostly a gel that couldn't stand up to not being wrapped in plastic. The cake was dry and it ruined my birthday. I think we're done getting cakes from Weber's after this awful experience. read more
