Great customer service, and so far great internet service. Like many folks I have been concerned about net neutrality and the lack of competition for ISPs - especially in Chicago. Webpass is a breath of fresh air. My previous ISP was offering marginal speed increases for the price (despite being in one of their "community" packages). Additionally, I no longer needed their TV offerings since with reliable internet you can watch basically anything online. Anyway, decided to get webpass and four hours later (same day) Kelli came by to install it. She was extremely professional, explained how their system works, installed a new jack for it (in case I wanted to keep my old service - I was undecided at the time), and ensured I had an excellent connection. I later decided I didn't need the old ISPs service and Josué came by the next day to simplify the jack for me to just one nice, clean Ethernet jack. He was also extremely nice, quick, and made sure my speeds were as advertised (in fact they are slightly faster). Compared to my previous provider, I have decreased latency and much higher speeds than before. Overall, an excellent experience and I could not be happier. read more

After about 6 months of the worst internet from AT&T, our building signed up for webpass. Speeds have increased dramatically, and I couldn't be happier with service. Shoutout to Alex who was polite, professional, and took his time to make sure we had the most efficient setup. I've had Webpass for a couple of months. The price is right, which is to say much cheaper than Comcast. The Webpass installer was fast, professional, and capable. Webpass promised 500 Mb/s symmetric, and that's probably achievable within Webpass's network (and to Speedtest.net, natch). In practice, though, I'm not able to download movies, software, etc. at anywhere near 500 Mb/s. That's OK, it's still faster than my old 30 Mb/s on Comcast and I'm able to have plenty of things going on all at once on this Internet connection without anyone in the house noticing slow downs. My #1 problem, and one that others here have mentioned: rain. When it rains I have an outage ranging from seconds to minutes. #2 (potential) problem: support. I called support during the last storm and had to stay on the line thirty minutes before someone picked up! That's way worse than Comcast, by the way. Support finally told me that Chicago--or at least my portion of Chicago--is light on buildings with Webpass that they can establish additional connection to, which accounts for my outages. They say they're working on it, but no estimated time to have this resolved. I'll gladly update this review to at least four stars if Webpass can manage to fix the connectivity problems. (I may still dock them a star for lying to me about the effects of rain in the first place: they said rain, snow, etc. would have no impact on my service. Also, the 500 Mb/s seems... somewhat disingenuous given my observed performance.) read more

Unreliable; I was surprised to find out fiber internet can get disconnected for hours due to the weather. They also don't update their website and if you check you'll be under the impression that your service runs normally during an outage. Apparently, Google put their fibers too shallowly in the ground and it's causing problems across US. Did not have similar issues with their local competitors. Really not worth it considering the fact they are on the more expensive side. They also really take their time with repairing the issue and their customer support is rude and dreadful. Their answer essentially being: "Live with it! Nothing we can do. It's a slow process." read more

I have only had it a day and noticed a HUGE difference over Xfinity. Lorenzo was my tech installer and he was great. He was fast and very helpful. He noticed the router I had was a little old and gave me some suggestions on newer models that would help increase my speeds. I almost feel like I don't even need it just because its so fast now. I paid right online after the installation and paid for the year and I now I don't have to worry about making an internet payment for another year and it is way cheaper than Xfinity. Update: I had Webpass for over two months and had to cancel this weekend Webpass started out excellent- the blazing high speeds, the courteous technician who came out to do the install among other perks, however it slowly took a turn for the worst. After the first month, the speeds started going downward, the customer service rep on the phone took hours to come on the line and the technical support... well let me tell you about that! On Sunday I experienced a DDOS attack as some internet troll decided to take me off line. Webpass had no clue on how to address this situation, so my connection was down for two days. When I called tech support they stated that they will have an answer for me by the end of the week and have disconnected the service to mitigate damage for other users in the building. Ummm I work from home two days a week- that is not going to work! Although I can't blame Webpass for the ddos, I do wish the response was more appropriate so that I did not have cancel services. For a start up company, it has several positives, but as the company expands I would strongly encourage leadership to explore options for protecting your network, so you do not have to disconnect a customer's connection every time there is a DDOS attack. I think going back to IPV6 would be the best approach as it disguises the IP. read more

I just got web pass today (my building switched to it from Comcast). While I can't yet speak to the internet service, I can speak to what a great job Kelli Hardia did on the install. The location of the jack was not ... apparent or even easy to guess. I wasn't home for the wire installation, so I was no help. She did a great job of fixing the problem for me and getting me running. I am not particularly savvy, and she really set me up. Moreover, she is just a pleasure. read more

Signed up last night and had John installing everything the next morning! The process was very simple. John was the technician assigned and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. He came in right on time and got to work immediately. During the installation, he shared some tips and explained everything very well. After installation he tested everything to make sure all was good. The internet speed test hit 800+Mbps on download and 400+Mbps upload!! (Compare to 20Mbps and 3Mbps from Comcast and paying more). Ok downgrading my rating to 3 stars as I type this review using my cellular data network because my internet isn't working...again. Don't get me wrong, you can't find a faster speed for this price anywhere. But what good is an insanely fast connection when you can't use it? This service is getting unreliable. I will say one thing for the the other company I ditched for Webpass: I never called their tech support once in 6 months; it just worked. Buyer beware. read more

Our condo opted to move to webpass from more standard internet options like Comcast/att. The speed is faster, but only 30 days after go live we have an outage that has been ongoing for 24 hours and is still not resolved. The wind impacted their equipment since all of their equipment is above ground. After 4 years of att and never having an outage through awful winters, I'm concerned about their ability to withstand Chicago weather as all four seasons can have rough patches. I'd rather pay a little bit more and have continuous, dependable Internet. Update. Roughly 6 weeks later wifi is down again due to winds. Webpass has issues maintaining service in windy conditions in the Windy City. read more

Great customer service the person (john I believe) who worked with me came to help install my service after hours because I had a scheduling conflict which wasn't his fault. So he went out of his way to set me up and even stayed later to make sure I set up my router correctly. On top of this I am getting 500+ mbps with a direct connection which is ridiculous. read more

How did I live without them? I have been on AT&T at 18mbps for the last two years because that's all our building would offer. Last week we brought WebPass in and allowed units to get this installed. Wow. It is using IPv6 addresses, and is absurdly fast. I am getting 450 mbps down, 550 mbps up. All this for $55 a month! AT&T was $58 for such a lower speed. I am amazed at how much quicker this is. John came and installed it yesterday. Super quick and easy. John is a great technician and really stands behind his product. He genuinely cares that his customers are getting what they want and was helpful with any questions that I had. He had far more energy and charisma than any other technician I have ever seen at an install, and was even early! No time frame, just a "He'll be there at 4 PM." Guess what? He was here at 3:55. Fun to chat with and knew what he was talking about. Gave some good pointers on routers/ethernet cables and all around an awesome guy. Thanks for everything! read more

Like others, I have been incredibly impressed with Webpass (and not just because it finally allowed me to cut the last cord with Comcast). At $45 a month (when you pay the year up front), I was able to reduce my per month cost (compared to Comcast) while, at a minimum, doubling my internet speed. Lorenzo arrived 20 minutes early for a 3pm appointment on a Sunday and had me up and running within about 20 minutes. Lorenzo was polite and professional. I haven't had any issues with my service in the past week. read more

I live in a high-rise in the Loop that just got wired for Webpass service. I currently use RCN. John arrived on time and what we both thought would be a quick job turned out to be a 2 hour ordeal. The wiring in my unit was completely screwed up, but he was very diligent and after some incredible work was able to deliver. He explained everything he was trying to do and what wasn't working. John was extremely professional and I am very impressed with his work ethic. He had to call other scheduled installations and tell them he wasn't going to make it on time. My unit is the farthest from the main junction box, so they faced some technical challenges, but they clearly knew their stuff and address it in no time. I just had Webpass installed today. John, the installer, came in on time and was able to get in and out in about 30 minutes! He was extremely courteous, friendly and professional which is something you don't get with a lot of other companies! He did a speedtest before he left just to make sure things were working properly and it was about 900 mbps up and 900 mbps down. Pretty amazing! If you're building has Webpass I highly recommend it just for the fact that their entire process is so simple and efficient and of course the speeds are amazing. Update: May 2016 So after having the service for about a year there are definitely pros and cons. When it works it's great and the speeds you get are unmatched. The service has been reliable for the most part but then there will be random outages. If it is very windy or stormy outside expect the service to stop working or be super super slow. This is just the nature of how the service is since it uses point to point transmission. Also, the past few weeks I have been experiencing random intermittent outages for no apparent reason (including right now for the past two hours.) I would still recommend it to most people however just be aware it won't be rock solid 24/7. read more

Yesterday, I had one of the best experiences in my life with setting up internet with James Fisher from Webpass. I'm a stickler when it comes to efficiency, customer service, and technology, and am rarely have my expectations met. However, in this case, Webpass far exceeded my expectations. The run-down: - I set up an appointment online with Webpass. Super easy and seamless. (Only downside is that I didn't get a confirmation email) - I had forgotten what time the appt was so I called Webpass customer service a few days before. Quick response, super friendly, and reminded me that my appointment was at 4pm. - At 3:30 pm, I got a call from James Fisher from Webpass to tell me he was on the way. - At 4pm, James arrived promptly at my apt, and came up to my place. - Between 4-425, James turned on a few switches. I was fortunate that my apt had a three pre-existing ethernet ports, and I had already bought a OnHub TP Link router before James had arrived. - At 425 James tested the service, by connecting his computer through the Ethernet jack and actually testing the speed on Speed Test (never before have I seen either of those completed). It was between 600-700mpbs synchronous upload/download. This was more than I had ever seen, so I was of course skeptical. I figured this was because he was directly connected. I wanted to test wirelessly. - Between 425 - 430, I chatted with James about the underlying technology and his experience with Webpass. He politely and knowledgeably answered my questions. At the same time, I was able to seamlessly set up my network using the OnHub app. - By 430, I had set up my network and then checked the speed wirelessly from my computer. It was 550mbps wirelessly, which was 5-10x the fastest speed I had seen up to this point. - At 435 James gave me his business card, and said he'd be around the building in the future if I had any further questions. So, end to end I put in 45 minutes total to get my Internet setup, including making an appointment, calling for a reminder, getting the hook-up, and testing both wired & wirelessly. Update: still awful service. Att isn't the best either but way more reliable and professional. If your going to the Roosevelt collection do not get webpass. Also they don't refund you for the days you paid for already ahead of time when you cancel so plan accordingly. They just offer to keep giving you crappy service up until the day you paid. read more

He was punctual, professional, and able to get my internet running in no time. He was able to answer all my questions about the router I had purchased and about Webpass's internet service.
