I had extremely slow internet for years and heard amazing things about WebPerception from countless neighbors. I gave Erik a call and from the moment I started talking to him, I knew that this was a great local company with outstanding customer service. Dan and Erik both came out and installed my internet last week and I can't begin to express how smoothly the installation went! They are both so kind and really know how to install internet extremely fast. And now for my internet speed. It is about 4 times as fast as what I had before! Seriously! Four times as fast! I signed up for WebPerception to have backup internet service for occasions when my main super high speed fiber ISP goes out (which is... shockingly often). As a backup ISP, I didn't need anything blazing fast from WebPerception, but a few dozen Mbit/sec would be nice to be able to continue to get work done when my main ISP is out. WebPerception got me set up in short order with a directional antenna/small dish on my roof, and my router has flipped over to their service a few times already and I've not noticed more than a brief blip. It's also nice, too, that their medium is wireless rather than coax or fiber, so it's less susceptible to catastrophes like tree branches falling or cars crashing into poles, taking down wired service. The best thing about this company is that Peter Skeels no longer owns it. Over subscribed and understaffed while offering a "maybe we'll call you back" sales strategy, this company ranks up there with a newly struck single striped weasle. This company was founded at the same time as Sonic and Vista Broadband, but where those two companies focused on excellent customer service, WebP focused on maximising profits while minimising technical improvements. It wasn't until 2010 that they designed site failover for path redundancy... that's nearly 10 years after they started. Choose the Santa Rosa company if you can, or call the Sonoma wireless guys if you want real service. Otherwise, start your own ISP and you'll get similar results to WebPersuction. read more

Got sick and tired of the games you have to play with Comcast/Xfinity in order to get a reasonable price on internet. A friend of mine has had WebPerception for years and spoke highly of them. I figured if Marin Health and Bio Marin use them, they have to be good. I had the installation a couple weeks ago and I am very happy! The speed wasn't what I expected at first, so they immediately sent a technician and in no time I have CONSISTENT fast WIFI speed throughout my whole house! The customer service really sets them apart from AT&T and Xfinity. These are local folks you see around town, who really care about making you satisfied! They called me the second day to see how everything was working out for me. Blew my mind! We switched from Xfinity to Webperception less than two years ago after getting fed up with Xfinity support. These guys are local and their technology is different, and they had better reviews then. However, their speeds are much slower than Xfinity's-- think 50 mbps download vs 500 mbps (from Xfinity). The internet service has been disappointing from the start with Zoom calls freezing almost every other week. After several complaints, they just stopped responding because they realized that they couldn't help. We spoke with Dan on multiple occasions, who promised to call back after doing some investigation but never did. Several emails to Brendan were unanswered. We finally decided to go back to Xfinity after they replaced the line to our street and the service has been better so far. We get a much higher speed at half the cost of Webpercetion. Unfortunately, there are not many options to choose from in Novato and none of them are great, so our options are limited. read more

If you're sick of crumby or non-existent customer service from your internet provider, SWITCH TO WEB PERCEPTION! They are real people who really care about you. Their prices are close to other providers like AT&T or Comcast (who changed their name to XFinity because of their rock bottom reputation). They are not a "re-packager" like Sonic, who use AT&T's infrastructure. I live in an area with few options, and was super frustrated by Sonic's ultra-slow upload speed. It took over a week for me to update my mac to a new OS. Now, with WEB PERCEPTION, all is smooth and quick. I can't say enough good things about these folks. They are the best! read more

Really disappointed. Was so excited to try WebPerception after hearing good things. They were supposed to come out yesterday to meet with me between 3-4pm. At 4:30 I called and was told the technician must be in an area with no service, so I rescheduled. Was told he would be here at 3pm today. It's 5pm, no phone call or text to explain why once again he is a no-show. How can I trust their service if they can't even show up to our first meeting or communicate if they can't make it for 2 days in a row? read more

We've owned our property for 6 years and have only had Hughes Net Satellite internet, which may as well be dial up or sometimes yelling into the void that is the internet without any response. Thankfully an employee of Web Perception ended up in my chair at my salon. God send. We had no idea line of sight high speed internet existed! After some testing on our property, the Web Perception team was able to set us up within a few weeks! We can now stream and cast media from our phones to our TVs! *UPDATE (11/24/15): Two and a half years after I wrote the following review, the business owner has posted a response, claiming that I was untruthful. For the record, I have a large number of aggressively rude email messages from Mr. Skeels, that support the accuracy of my review. ******* Very poor network performance, offensively bad customer service, and expensive! When I found out I couldn't get any land-based high-speed internet services at my new address, I signed up for Web Perception's wireless broadband service. For $99.00/month I signed up for their 10mbps x 2mbps SOHO account. I opted for 10mbps "SOHO" service over their 8mbps "Home" offering because I often work from home and due to the nature of my work, have higher than a normal home's bandwidth needs. The technical limitations of their service were apparent from the start as I experienced spotty performance and high latency, rarely getting more than 4 or 5 mbps of throughput. But with a 1-year contract and few alternatives I had to make do. 4 months into my service, I awoke on a Sunday morning to find my internet shut down and an email from the owner Peter Skeels, telling me that I have been overrunning their network and causing issues for their other users, though at peak performance I was only able to reach 8mbps (or 80% of my subscribed throughput). Over the next several months, I found my internet terminated several more times with increasingly rude and aggressive emails from Peter, referencing their interpretation of the "No Data Limits" feature they advertize: "NO DATA LIMITS means you can surf the web, email, download and watch movies, etc. as much as you want. However the connection is meant for 'normal usage' during waking hours." Though Web Perception confessed that they were experiencing abnormal behavior in their equipment that is likely causing my connection to have unintended consequences on other customers, the offenses continued as Peter accused me of reselling service to my neighbors (which I was not). He was convinced that I was bittorrenting (which I was not). And he responded with the most unprofessional hostility I've ever encountered when I asked for an acceptable usage policy that I could actually follow (which they don't have). The following excerpt is from a shocking email exchange between myself and Peter Skeels, Web Perceptions' owner, on April 8th, 2013: -- ME: "Though I am shocked and offended at how you have treated me as your customer, between your inflammatory comments and repeatedly shutting down my service, I have remained responsive and courteous while only asking for guidance on how to use my service in the absence of any service quality measures on your network." -- PETER: "You know, I was just going to turn you back on... inflammatory comments, really?... Don't mess with me again. Don't be provocative. This is business." ******* I am a veteran network engineer and, though I have no interest in troubleshooting Web Perception's network, I expected their troubles to be relatively transparent to their customers, or at least not blamed on customers who are simply trying to get a fraction of the service they expect. This "company" is an absolute nightmare, and the owner/founder/president exercises no professional restraint when it comes to dealing with unsatisfied customers. read more

The WebPerception team is first class. They have provided bandwidth for our client events throughout the SF & Marin areas. They do what they say and say what they do. They show up on time. UPDATED REVIEW: Had WebPerception Internet service for about 6 months now (point-to-point wireless in Novato) and the service has been great. Had a problem yesterday where the access speed was reduced to about 30% of usual and their support in (in this case Erik) resolved the problem quickly on their end. The owner is still incredibly rude. As you can see he posted a comment trying to discredit my review because I live in MA. However my initial review was based on supporting a business that was in CA and so it IS applicable. I messaged him privately to let him know that and to explain that the review IS accurate and this is his unedited response: "Anyone who sends messages with their face blocked shouldn't be allowed to post..." So if you want a business owner that is rude and ignorant of social media (even though he runs a technology business) on top of overcharging you then by all means use this business. But in this competitive landscape there's ZERO reason to deal with someone like this if you don't have to. read more

We switched to Web Perception at work. Brendan worked tirelessly on our project, which included getting AT&T to lay new fiber since we are on top of a hill and our building went up in the 1960's. He kept me in the loop as the project proceeded, letting me know when dates needed to change (we are talking AT&T after all), responded promptly to questions, and addressed every single issue that could have possibly come up. I had been concerned with the older reviews and had a pretty open and honest conversation with them about it. They let me know they had just changed ownership, looked me in the eye and told me they were committed to changing the reputation of the company. When a billing issue became a series of rude emails between an account rep and myself, my husband filed a complaint with Peter Skeels, the company owner (it's a tiny company with a short chain of command). Here is Peter's hilarious response, scolding me, my husband, and the employee involved like children. (Note: the "threat" refers to an editorial review I would have written about my customer experience, if Peter's own words hadn't summed up his company so well)! "Justin, Megan and Clare- I was fully made aware of the "problems" by Clare prior to receiving Justin's email. I can tell you I have read all of the emails... As always there are two sides to every story/problem. Basically this came down to the document we require to process you credit card (the Authorization Form) never getting signed and returned to WebPerception by you Justin. I am asking everyone to calm down- immediately. Please no one email the other anymore. Since no one has anything nice to say about the other you should all be quiet. Justin, threats will certainly not work as any defamation will be dealt with legally. As far as I know your invoices are paid and are now up-to-date, so I want this to be handled maturely by all involved going forward. And by everyone I mean everyone! I want everyone to drop this bickering immediately. It is much ado about nothing. If this does not stop immediately I will be forced to deal with this problem. No one is to email anyone else- understood? You all need to go enjoy life and stop this silliness. This is all I am going to say about this." *UPDATE (11/24/15): The business owner posted this comment in response to my review: "Please check out the BBB and our A+ rating. Fantastic internet service at a reasonable price. We had some initial problems with it going down intermittently but they solved it. Nothing to do with their service - nothing but a bad crimp on an ethernet cable. There are many other good reviews of this firm but for some reason, Yelp has hidden them. For line-of-sight fixed wireless connectivity, these guys are a great solution provider. They provide great connectivity and bandwidth (we're talking fixed- wireless here so don't go trying to compare it 4g lte or EOC landline speeds). Best of all you get real tech support when you need it; competent troubleshooting, and pro-active diagnostics. These guys are ideal for green-field job trailer setups! read more

Perhaps the service works when you finally get an installation. But, getting through to their sales department is a joke. I called multiple times and left messages. Peter never returned calls. I finally reached him and he said that he would do a site visit to determine if he could provide service. Two weeks passed -- I finally reached him and he had lots of excuses for why the site visit had not been done. When it was finally done, he promised to call or email with the results. He never did. Again, I left lots of messages. When I finally reached him (I got through by contacting the Technical Support desk rather than Sales), he wanted to know why I was frustrated.
