I was looking for lawn care for my elderly mom's house. I made the mistake of leaving a message with Weedman in Wheeling. We decided to go with another service and I told Weedman this when they called back. Well it's been 2 years since then and they have called my phone non-stop, sometimes multiple times a day. I have blocked the number but my phone still notifies me when the call is blocked. So just yesterday I was finally fed up beyond belief and called them and spoke to someone to please stop calling me. They said they would remove me from their call list. Well guess what? I got a call today from Weedman from a different number. This one was in Cleveland. I tried with Weed Man for three years and my yard looks significantly worse than it did before I started the service. I have major grub damage, entire patches of mud where grass grew before I started the service. After three years, I still had masses of violets in the yard. What I have paid more than $1,000 dollars for, I have no idea; other than the dandelions are gone, But, I had those nearly eliminated myself. Unfortunately, I cannot give a zero star rating to Weed Man. I do not recommend them to anyone. Quality of fertilizer and weed control is hands-down the best I've ever had. My grass used to look terrible then, tons of weeds and no fertilizer whatever work. If you like pulling weeds, this is your company. They are very happy to take your money, but cant stop your weeds. They say they will come back to reapply, but you need to continually hound them to do so. Must not have much experience controlling weeds on there own. I've followed up many times same lip service, they can fix it. Last time I was told "oh yeah in the notes it said the applicator broke (Confused as to why I have to follow up and pay for a service that was not applied) they said they would send someone out again, and they never showed. I have them on ring camera applying the weed application all spots in camera view are dead and more wish I had more camera. they tried telling me it's leaf blight but it's only on spots they sprayed and dead all the way to the dirt not characteristic of blight. definitely them using either wrong killer or wrong ratio to Chemicals used. I would give zero stars if I could. I believe the falsely state their chemicals are safe and was one of my primary concerns when I decided to try them. It gets worse, after being told that their chemicals were 'pet and kids safe', my dog gets cancer this fall and dies as a result. After cancelling their services early this Fall due to the lack of improvement to the lawn, I get a call from them the other day soliciting their services. I was so looking forward to be on the right path on having a beautiful lawn. This was not the case. My lawn has never looked worse. I have huge bare spots and a lot of dead grass. This is the first time that I have ever seen anyone run while using a spreader. It was a new record of spreading winterizer in five minutes flat. I would not recommend. read more

Wish I had read the reviews below before selecting . Everything said is true. I have plenty of weeds guess that's the meaning of weedman. I had a good lawn before I started with them then this fall my second year with them I lost my entire back yard except for the weeds. Someone came out twice and didnt say lets do a soil test or check for grubs or army worms. They had people on my lawn as this was happening but never said hey we have a problem. They just came and went as fast a possible to get on to the next job. Double aeration was a total joke. I was lucky well not to get a half pass. DONT EVEN CONSIDER THEM. I will say they showed up when they scheduled but I saw the tracks and they were wide. read more

I had weedman last year. I thought they did a great job on the lawn especially taking care of the weeds. The problem that I have with them is they also did aeration for me and because the backyard was soaking wet because of all the rain we had in the fall they basically ruined half of my backyard. Just don't do the aeration and I think you'll be happy with them. read more

These guys are gangsters with lawnmowers. Weedman came to my house offering a free estimate. Told me that my lawn was dying because of the presence of crabgrass. They offered a treatment and signed me up for a weekly mow. Not only did they not fix the grass, the entire lawn is ruined by whatever chemical they used to "Treat" it. When I confronted Brandon about it, he told me that the lawn was beyond repair. Now there were a few spots where my dog urinated, but after weedman left, there was no lawn left. Literally left me with well, weeds. They sent me a bill for $220 something to pay for the service, when i refused, they sent it straight to collections (NRA group). I have received 56 phone calls from the Weed Man's phone number since 3/15/16 - just about every day and sometimes twice a day. I have the number blocked. I am on the do not call list. We're a new customer this year, and have always received and paid our bills immediately with "Weedman". You guys would notify us that you were coming, bill was in the door and stakes were placed in the front and back yards notifying us that you were there. When we signed up with Weedman , we informed your salesman that we have dogs and our gates are locked, so we would need to know when you're coming, so we can clean up the yard and unlock a gate for you to enter. Your salesman said, that is standard practice and we would receive a message , via text 2 days prior. Moving onto the past 9 weeks. Your company came to our house at the end of July and a check(#3) was mailed and cashed by your company on Aug. 6th. On Saturday Sept. 29th, ,we happened to look out our window, and noticed that "Weedman" was parked out front, we had no notification "via text" that you guys were coming. When we received the invoice on the door, for a fall fertilization, the invoice also had a past due balance on it. I called your office and was told that on 8/31 a weed control was done on my yard, we had no bill, no stakes in the yard showing you were there, nothing about this. I disputed this, as we weren't left a door hanging bill and had no flags in my yard. The office rep was nice and said she could tell via GPS(really) that the tech was at my house, she split the cost in half as a courtesy. If you guys were out here, that would make it 3 times in a 9 week span that you put chemicals down in my yard, are you kidding, maybe this is why my yard is falling apart this year. I am paying the balance, but with the promise that I will not pay for anything that I have no proof was done again. This is wrong and it makes me highly uncomfortable with your company. Second complaint. I went through about a month's time during which I received sometimes 8-10 phone calls a day from your company. When I would answer the phone no one was on the line. I called into the office and requested the phone calls stop. I was advised they would and was apologized to. Well during a 6 day stretch on vacation 2 weeks ago, I again received multiple phone calls a day. I again called the office and was told it would stop. I understand you wanted me to sign up for fall aeration, but this bordered on harassment. I will not be having this service performed by your company as I am at my wits end with you. As of now, my husband is irate with your company and I want to make sure that nothing is set up for 2019. I would like two notifications from Weedman, one via email and one from a senior officer at your company. Andy, 1) Please don't blame the service on weather or phone services being blocked. If that's the case, how do you explain not receiving a bill or stakes in the yard showing that your company was there, like every other time you've been there. There's one response for that, you guys weren't there but you bill clients for it. The person also informed me that he can legally knock on our doors until 9:00 pm. Obviously the owner felt bad about Keith's experience, but didn't change the behavior. Great job by Weed Man of Arlington Hts, Illinois! Our previously pristine front and back lawn looks like garbage after their 'careless' care. It only took them 1/2 a season to ruin it and then blame the weather, our dog, lack of watering, not using a clipping bag, a dull blade, etc. Their guys haggled over what was ruining for two months while it got worse and worse. Then they finally decided it was cinch bugs and charged us extra to kill them after the severe damage. Funny, neighbors on all sides of us have no such patches and they don't use a lawn service. The haggled over whether our birch tree was "too tall" to spray while Japanese beetles did their worst to it. We had no "creeping charlie" ivy in the lawn until this year. My experience with Weed Man isn't its lawn care, its the business's demonic marketing strategy. If you express interest in any capacity towards signing up, this business will call you about 3-4 times a day to follow up. Specifically twice in the 5-7pm range when you are most likely to be home. I have told them to please make a note to stop calling me. Since then it seems like I have been getting phone calls every week. Sometimes like today I received 2 of them. My lawn has never looked worse, especially in the back. However, my biggest issue with this company is their sales/marketing practices. They don't listen. Canceling the service took 45 minutes and two calls of them begging. Their upselling calls were relentless. If you think extended vehicle warranty calls are awful........ I gave the weed man one start but only because zero is not an option. This is the second year I used the Weed Man service. They came out earlier this week when it was pouring rain and there was standing water in my yard. I was home which he was not aware of. I watched him walk around the yard which I assumed he was surveying the yard to see if it was too wet and standing water which I was advised they do not complete the service when there is standing water. He did not even walk into my back yard he put the stick into the ground and left. A few hours later I recived an email that the service was complete and I was charged. As I witnessed him not do a thing I called in to make sure I was not charged as no service was provided. The customer service rep advised they would come back another day and not charge my credit card until it was completed. Yesterday I saw them pull up so I thought they returned to view the yard and see if all the standing water was gone so they can complete the job. There were two card in the driveway so I assumed he would think someone was home and may be watching. He got out of the truck and walked around the front and the side of the house, and was looking towards the windows probably looking to see if anyone was home. Again he never even walked into the back yard he stuck the stick in the ground signifing that the service was complete and left without doing a thing except walk around half of my yard. Again I received an email that I was charged for a serivce that wasant completed. I called customer service to let them know he again didnt do anything to my yard except walk around and I was charged. The rep told me " I can hear you, you dont have to yell at me." Which I was not yelling at all. I then spoke to someone else to cancel my service which he was very nice but didnt even attempt to try to save me as a client. After looking at all the reviews he is probably use to cancelling the service. I would highly suggest to stay away from using this company unless you will be home each time to watch them walk around your yard and say service was completed. With as much as they call to attempt to have me sign up for their service they should start to actually complete the jobs they promise and they maybe able to retain their customers. read more

My lawn has never looked so bad. I have lived in my home for 20 years and never had a lawn like this. After the 2nd treatment half of my lawn died. Now all I have is weeds everywhere. Then they act like they know you when you come to the door and look at you like you're crazy for not opening it. I used Weed Man for a season a few years ago, before discovering a love for lawn care and becoming a DIY'er. Their service was fine for those who don't want to "throw 'er down" themselves. However, becoming a former customer has been maddening. Sales calls every other day. They are unwilling to accept that this has become a fun hobby for me - they just read from a script rather than engaging in a meaningful conversation. I did offer to buy a one-off core aeration from them to simply get them to stop calling but they said they won't do ad hoc services. These guys are terrible. They never tell you everything upfront at the time of signing the contract. If you call them because if some weed issue, they will say it is not covered but they can solve the issue and give you a discount because you are an existing customer. How's that. Also, they promise you 2 lawn mower blade sharpening every year and when you ask for it they tell you to remove the blades and drop off at their location if you want to get it done soon - which you do anyway since you have to mow the lawn. They also don't return calls timely and emails go to some junk folder. Not using them again. read more

I have asked this company to remove my work number from their system no less than 6 times. They always say they will and never do. My coworkers get harassed with calls every day.
