I am writing this after getting off the phone with Weed Man. I asked them to re-apply the weed treatment since we still had weeds after the first application. The gentleman who came out to reapply came up to the fence took a phone call and left. The yard was never treated. I then get an email saying services were rendered. What they did not know is I have cameras around the house. After calling them out on this, they offered to have someone come out and tell me what they did. No thanks, I know nothing was done. When I declined their overpriced offer, I was then questioned as to why I "requested" the quote. Their bully tactics are not appreciated. There are lots of negative reviews on the company and that's a shame. I have used Weed Man (the Wheeling branch...THERE ARE OTHER BRANCHES THAT SERVICE OTHER AREAS LOCAL TO ME!) So I have been a customer of Weed Man Wheeling for 3 years. My lawn looks fantastic and I have no complaints. When I see a weed pop up, I call them and they re send someone out. If there is a problem, it gets resolved. My parents who live in a different suburb than I, use the other branch in Elgin and they are also pleased. The quality of the work reflects in what you pay for! As for the door to door, I have had friends do that job and they keep young adults employed while they are going to school which is great for the community as well as helping young adults earn some money. They have come to my door and they have permits, wear proper attire to make sure they are seen, and are polite. Each town has a soliciting ordinance. If you have an issue with solicitors coming to your door too late, dont take it out on a company but take it up with the town you live in. As for sales phone calls, all you have to do is pick up and ask them to stop calling and to be taken off of the calling list for the future. That's what I did and they stopped. Boom.Problem solved. Overall the company does what'a promised. My lawn looks great, I am happy with it, and i am happy with a service i pay for. read more

I have had this service for two years. They promised that they would get rid of my creeping charlie and has been driving me crazy. I have been treating and pulling it out myself and losing the battle. My lawn looks great after two applications and the grass is beautiful. My only problem is that they are more expensive. Our third year in a new climate showed that we were new to maintaining a healthy lawn here, and not very successful. By mid-summer I felt like we were nearing losing the entire 1/2 acre of green. Clover, crabgrass and thistle was taking over everything. I had lost the battle and was totally frustrated. We called Weed Man of Boise and allowed them to decide on the proper approach; and they did. They began on 8/15 just one month ago. I had to restrain my criticism when they initiated a multiple approach that included fertilizing in 100+ degree weather, but, everything they did worked super great. Nearing fall now and the yards look better than ever. The cost was very affordable (and I'm a penny-pincher) to get where we are at, and for a large 1/2 acre of turf in 5 different areas. They will be getting my request for areation and overseeding next spring for sure. This was such a relief, and in just one month. The drawback.....I am mowing a lot more, but hey, it's a riding mower with cup-holders, so it is more fun than work. If not for their help, I'd be driving a plow and dozer with a grading permit. The Boise company is very easy to work with and everything is up front and no surprises; very honest. The people (I wish I could list them all) are incredible, friendly, informative and treat your property with care and respect. read more

After the dishonesty going on with my local tree service and this company, I left Weed man to return to my local tree service. I did not want to be in the middle of the nonsense. Now I am dealing with Weed Man 12 months later about a 47.00 bill. Now its 81.00. I thought I was all paid up....I never was late, especially after the season ended, and they know that. They called me through the year, I assumed it was regarding returning to their service. Never once did they say I owed them money. Now I am in collections. So the bottom line, its not worth the service, when others are the same price. You are risking bad billing and collections. Don't use them. read more

Like some other people here, I cannot comment on their service, this is strictly due to their solicitation practices. On Saturday my husband and I were disturbed by a loud, long knocking on our door. After hearing the knocking a few times I went outside and spoke to a man representing Weed Man who was there to talk about a free estimate so we could compare companies. I explicitly said we were not interested and his response was "No, it's free, so it's ok." I said THREE times that we were not interested but he would not just leave and kept talking about what they offer. He basically wouldn't leave me alone until I signed saying it was ok for them to call with a free estimate. I signed just so I could get him to leave. A few hours later we had ANOTHER knock on our door from a different guy from the same company. This time he went away after a few tries when we didn't answer. Since then, I have received 3 calls in 2 days (two between 8-9PM) with no voicemail, so I simply had to block the number from calling me. Please train your people in what is considered professional behavior, and practically harassing and refusing to leave someone's house even when they say "no, not interested" several times definitely is not professional. read more

I purchased an annual package paid up front. Each time they came they left an acknowledgement of the service - for which I never opened as I knew what they did and had already paid. Turns out they will renew service automatically with no call - they insist that it's on the invoices that no one ever looks at if they have already paid. They also insist it is in their marketing mailers, but I know that the letters were just that, I knew I didn't want to renew, so I treated those letters the same as any other junk mail I get - trash. I called customer service and the rep was incredibly rude, said I should have known it was auto renew as all lawn services are...to which I said this is the first time I have ever done a lawn service so by that logic how on earth would I know that. I had to call over and over as no one was getting back to me on a decision of waiving the single treatment fee I never wanted in the first place - and keep in mind this is all over $50. It's the principle of the matter at this point and lack of good policies and good customer service. No word over and over and now I have a collection letter for $50 measly dollars. They were supposed to get back to me on a decision....I guess they just treat their customers poorly. And I did not notice any difference whatsoever in my lawn over the course of the year...highly do not recommend. Save your money, time, and sanity. read more

Made the huge mistake of giving them my number. Spoke with them a few days after and the guy I spoke with knew verry little about lawn care BASICS. When I asked him what 2-4d was he had absolutely no clue. I was baffled. Next sales person that called me was a teenage girl (by the coments and rudness) and it got even worse...with the attitude, disrespect of course lack of knowledge and profesionalism. In my opinion of youre trying to sell someone ANYTHING...you better know what youre talking about. Needless to say this was a year and a few months ago. You couldnt PAY ME ENOUGH to let these imbeciles touch anything I own. I still recieve a few calls a week and most of the time its after 5pm. This has been straight up harassment. This is my first bad review ever. If you're debating on using the weed man do yourself a favor and take my honest experience into account and DONT. Here is my experience. Judge for yourself if this is a company you wish to deal with. My landscaper put in a new lawn on my property in August and suggested that once the new sod was established I should hire a professional lawn care company to start a regular fertilization and weed control program. The landscaper recommended this company. I called them two weeks ago. I gave the woman my name, address, telephone number, and email address. She said a sales person would call me back on the following Monday to arrange for a quote. I have never heard back from them. No phone call, no email, not a word. I just started with this company. I have two houses in this area and they have been out twice. They were on time and have done exactly what they said they would do. The second visit was two days ago and the weeds are drying up fast. I was referred to them and I think it will be a good relationship. I wish I could give zero stars. I bought their annual package. They promised the best looking lawn ever. Right... My lawn looks worse than ever. Weeds are out of control! When they say they will repeat the weed control for free as part of the package that's an outright joke. They say they treated weeds at least 4-5 times and I have never had more weeds in my yard. Last time, technician only sprayed a few spots and skipped a sea of weeds. He thought no one was home so no one would see how little he did. Just last week I called twice to request a real weed control. The technician was here, and according to the notes he left, spread the fertilizer and did crub control (you guessed correctly, I paid extra for that) and skipped the weed control. He stuck that white flag in the the middle of the weeds that are knee height. I asked them to cancel the service. After so many calls and terrible lawn, I'm done. I have had a good experience with Weed Man. My lawn looks 1000% better and when I forgot to pay the bill for a few months (oversight on my part) they were quite nice about it. Honestly, my lawn that was all clover is now thicker green grass with very few weeds and the previously dead patches are starting to fill in with healthy grass. After only about 3/4 treatments I see a really huge difference. Maybe they have aggressive sales practices but they have a great product. And while I'm unsure when they are coming, I'm sure if I had something planned all I would need to do is call and assure they would not treat my lawn at that time. I definitely recommend them if you have a problem lawn - mine really went from embarrassing to quite beautiful in a few short months. read more

They're out 6 times times a year to weed and feed, blow off the driveway and walks and even take my garbage cans up to the garage if the timing is right. At first they did call me for additional services and when I said I'm good and to please take me off their call list they did! Besides that, when I do have a question I get to speak with the owner...
