The Weekapaug Inn is an absolute jewel. Seasonal floral bouquets, thick quality linens, leather and fetching pillows abound, tasteful art, waterworks bathroom fixtures...the list goes on and on. Eat in the formal dining room overlooking the sunset with a warm orange sky and deep blue bay views. The food is rich & delicious with some delicate touches. Drink a lovely bottle from a perfect stem from the careful selection of wines although concise. Make sure you're not wearing thong sandals or leather flip flops they won't let you in. Don't bother with the casual bistro fare served at lunch and the deck. read more

This place will not disappoint you! The food was very high quality. Attention to detail and obviously a Chef that takes pride in their work. There was coffee, espresso and fresh cookies and bottled water available throughout the day. The room was perfect, with 4 Seasons attention to detail. The overall environment was peaceful and accommodating. What I like best, though, was the staff. The were engaged when you passed by, and seemed to really enjoy that we were a guest. While the views and property are beautiful, the restaurant is terrible. We went for lunch and the staff seemed irritated and overwhelmed. The clam chowder was cold and lumpy. We sent it back, and it returned in the same cup with the same spoon - and at the same temperature. Inedible. The steak skewers were tiny and charred. The lobster roll was full of lobster meat that was so finely diced it was indiscernible from crab meat. The other items we ordered never even made it out to our table. It's a beautiful spot. Extremely disappointed, as a disabled veteran I was initially informed I could not stay on property if I had a service animal. I informed the staff that they we breaking the law by their actions. Upon check-in I was required to disclose my medical condition that required a service animal. The Inn Keeper asked this in front of other front desk staff. Small room that are extremely overpriced. Was given a certificate for a free night, however can only use in the winter months. Corporate management is extremely difficult to work with. This is the thank you get for servicing over 34 years in the U.S. Military. read more

Classy to the core. Incredible staff-accommodating big rooms appointed and comfortable. Would like if bar stayed open past 10 pm but I am sure they ultimately did me a favor (it wasn't meant to be). They could use a pay per view movie option since the place is desolate and night options include putting aloe on your burned ass cheeks, doing a puzzle with a sexy 80 year old woman and pulling deer ticks off your ankle only take so long. Fantastic meal. My dad is a member and extremely proud of this place, even planning his wedding here next fall. I enjoyed the meal immensely but I did find the rules (no jeans, nice shirts for women and jackets for men, and no cell phones) a bit stuffy. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and attentive. Fantastic location and fantastic view. The staff was impeccable and the service was above and beyond. My only concern was with the chef. While the steaks that three of my party had ordered were presented at the proper temperature, clearly they had cooked my scallops too soon. My meal tasted wonderful but they were lukewarm. Now this establishment is well known for superior service and incredible views, it did not disappoint. The only star loss is for the menu, I just really found it uninspiring in. We overcame that with the breath taking view and the true peacefulness of the property. It is truly the perfect spot to unwind. Our drinks were delicious and expertly made, thumbs up to the espresso martini. I had a soft shelled taco and a side salad, both were perfect. My husband had the burger, it was generously sized and he enjoyed it. We will be back again, simply for the excellent service and stunning views. read more

This place is awesome!!!!! Elegant, but laid back, beautifully decorated and has so much to offer. Upon arriving, you are cordially greeted with a glass of champagne by a warm and welcoming staff. The rooms are bright and well appointed, and the suites are gorgeous! Simon, the Innkeeper, is delightful and he runs the Inn like a very well oiled machine. He is so friendly and upbeat, and you can see how well this translates to the staff, who couldn't be nicer. The food is wonderful, starting with the complimentary breakfast, lunch on the deck overlooking the bay, and dinner in the lovely Restaurant room. You can help yourself to coffee, tea, cappucino, latte, cafe American and fresh baked cookies anytime you like. There is also kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding, nature tours, birdwatching, clamming, boat tours and many more activities for adults and children. It's a one minute walk to a beautiful, private beach, and a great location for driving to Newport, Mystic, Stonington, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos. Oh...and you can use a BMW provided by the Inn for free as well as bicycles. I have stayed at the Inn twice, and will be going back many, may times in the future. I recently stayed at the Weekapaug Inn with my mother and two young children. I was not impressed, I think the idea of this place is great but they lack in many aspects. First they advertise as a non tipping facility, yet leave an option for tips on every receipt which is very awkward because then we have to tip because we don't know if the wait staff is working off tips or not. The workers were all very friendly but their work effort was lacking. There would be no one at the pool to serve for too long, and at breakfast time the waitress would never come over to us it was impossible to get anything we needed. Valet workers were very nice and accommodating. Our room was much too small and stuffy for the price. The intercom to connect with the front desk did not work and they knew this and said twice they were sending someone to fix it which they never did so every time we needed anything we had to walk to the front desk and ask; which shouldn't happen for the money we paid, not to mention if there was ever an emergency we had no phone or working intercom in the room. Also, my two year old had wet the bed during his nap so I asked if they could please change the sheets and they said okay, but later that night I realized there was absolutely no way they did bc there was still sand in the bed from his feet at nap time! They didn't leave enough towels in the room for us so we had to keep walking up to the front desk to ask, we had 4 people on our room but would only leave two towels. The windows would not open in the room because they seemed to be painted shut even though they advertise that we can open the windows in the rooms. For the prices of this hotel I feel this is not acceptable, for half the price maybe. The grounds were beautiful and so was the beach. The bathhouse workers were very friendly and accommodating as well. I would not recommend staying here. This place is too expensive for all the lacking aspects, we travel often to beautiful Inns, hotels and resorts so we can relax and not have to worry about much, this place fell short. read more

I love the location and the view and plan an annual family dinner on the deck for old times sake. Tonight was that night. The food was fine, but the service was lackluster at best. After an unusually long wait a waitress asked if we had decided on drinks. I chose a Narragansett beer, and was later served a very dark beer. I told the waitress that I was certain that it was not what I ordered, repeated my order and she suggested I try the beer she served. I once again requested a Narragansett. Another waiter came out eventually and brought a Trinity IPA. When I told him that was not what I had ordered again he said they were out of Narragansett. Why can they not get simple stuff like this right? read more

My family and I recently stayed at the Weekapaug Inn for a beautiful wedding. Although the grounds are very pretty and immaculate, and the food very good, for $1,250 ($1,400 after taxes and fees), the suite was very small. A bit disappointing, but that is not my complaint. We had two issues - Since the small safe in our room was too high for me to reach, and unsecured (making is very easy to walk away with), I put my diamond necklace in a golf skort pocket that zipped, and locked it in my suitcase. I did not wear this necklace, nor did I take it out all weekend. When I unpacked on Sunday, I realized that it was missing. After checking my bag thoroughly several times, I immediately called the Inn to let them know. Their response? "No one has reported it as found yet". They did not go to the room or question anyone. After three days of them telling me that no one turned it in, on the chance that it may have fallen out, I asked one of the people at the front desk (I won't mention her name) to please check the room herself. By this time, someone had stayed in the room, but were checking out that day, and she would check the room herself after they left. I called back later in the afternoon to ask if she checked the room. She said she sent housekeeping. Really?? After four days, when no one I spoke to was willing to personally assist me, I left a detailed voicemail for the manager, Simon, asking him to contact me. Three more calls that day, still no response. According to the front desk, he was in for at least part of the day. At close to 5pm, I finally spoke to Janice, another manager. She promised me that she would look into this, and that the situation was not addressed professionally or properly. I let Janice know that one of the days, there was a housekeeper in our room for over 1 1/2 hours. She said the room was probably very messy. Seriously? The room was actually pretty neat. It took another three calls that evening for Janice to finally pick up my call. Her response? "She spoke to housekeeping and no one saw it". When I responded that I will have to file a police report, she said to do what I have to do, and hung up the phone on me. I realize that at this point, the necklace is gone, but it is unacceptable and disappointing at the lack of response from hotel management. At no point did anyone in management step in and look into this further when I first called on Sunday, or even contact me personally. The second issue - There was a cash bar at the party. My son ordered a drink, and when he saw that the computer screen showed $90, he asked the bartender for a copy of the receipt. The bartender insisted that he rang up the drink for $9, and would not show him the paper receipt that he threw in the garbage. Fortunately, my son stood his ground, because the bartender assured him that he immediately entered a credit, but said he could not get a receipt. Sure enough the bartender did not enter the credit until my son watched him enter it. I have never written a review on a hotel, but I am still so disappointed with the lack of consideration and attention from management. I find it completely unacceptable. read more

Our family cannot say enough amazing things about the food and staff at the Weekapaug Inn! The Weekapaug has felt like a second family to us for years. Liz has always been kind and loving to the grandparents and grandkids alike! Mark, the Naturalist always has wonderful activities planned. Stayed here a couple of nights and would definitely be back. Went off season so it was quiet. However, pool not open. The food was phenomenal. We had a cove view which also gave a prospect toward the ocean. It was lovely and would definitely come back. Also stayed at Ocean House and pool open year round there. Different feeling but both luxurious in their own special ways. Weekapaug inn more low-key. Very relaxing vacation though. read more

This was the worst dining experience of my summer 2013 I was rushed, they served me under 50 minutes, a party of two, the tomato soup did not even cover the depth of my spoon, the oysters, it was served with no lemon no cocktail sauce and they we tiny, the duck was the size of my index finger, the Cabernet was a 1/2 of a pour. Sadly, Not Worth It ! First, I never complain and have never posted to Yelp. But found it so aggrevating that I felt I needed to speak up. My wife and I planned a few days alone and thought we would try the newly re-opened Weekapaug Inn. We know the area well and had stayed at the Inn years ago before it was renovated. The location is perfect and the physical property is lovely. However, the Inn misses by a wide margin on service and execution. First - paid for a "pond view" room and was escorted to a small pleasant room where the window was 50% covered by a roof 12 inches from the window. they happily changed us but this room should never be priced or described as a pond view - or any view. #32. Second - dinner at the Inn's upscale restaurant called "The Restaurant" was terrible. We came early and asked if we could be seated. The hostess nicely said if we would like to wait she could give us a "great table". No problem, we popped into the bar for a drink. Bar staff and waitresses complained about a co-worker within earshot of the few guests. Our "great table" was in the center of the room next to the waiter station, 5 minutes of clanging silverware one foot away we asked to be moved. waitress arrived and immediately shattered a glass across the table and floor. wife ordered wine, asked to sample the wine - the glass was dirty and smelled of clams, not a little - a lot. food came and was good not great. I ordered a beer which I had to remind her for it and got it after meal was over. Third - after the poor dinner experience, I decided to cancel reservations for the Inn's clambake. We were told their was a $25 per person cancellation fee, when I told them why I was told I could speak to a Manager. I passed on that chore and opted for the beach. Third - many amenities on the salt pond were described as free to guests. in reality guest present poker chips and are not given enough for those who would like to go sailing each day. additional chips are $20 and you need 3 to sail - $60 is not free. Fourth - wanted to buy some sun screen at the small store in lobby. $34/bottle? feeling nickle and dimed we opted for a run to cvs. Fifth - Inn markets golf at neighboring property. Brought clubs and asked when we checked in to find out the tee times were restricted and were $400 / guest! Course is lovely but not on the Ocean. Room was $600 / night how can golf be $400. Sixth - Inn advertized a crew shell for guest use. wife rowed in college and was looking forward to getting back in shell. Shell was fine but they had no oars - really? Seventh - I like to sail. went out once and it is a great place to knock around on a boat. Tried to go again on a grey day and was denied do to threat of a storm. I looked out at pond and saw a dozen boats manned by 10 year olds from the neigboring yacht club's kiddie camp? when i made my case, they admitted their motorized launch was broken and they had no way to rescue folks - glad I bought $60 / chips - no refunds. Eighth - club memberships for locals turn small pool into a kiddie camp. teenagers doing flips, mobs of tiny kids in shallow end, dirty towels on chairs. no where to sit. I like children but this was too much. In general, this place needs a lot of work. It misses more than it hits and for a luxury experience at $2000 + for 3 nights it needs to hit almost all the marks.First, get a handle on food and beverage and wait staff. Second, ditch the chips and just offer the boats for free. Third, let the Inn be itself, these self - inflicted wounds are mostly because of it's akward relationship with the Ocean House. Feels like staff is the JV of the Ocean House Varsity team and is afraid they are being watched. A false sense of service and fanciness kills what should be a laid back experience at a place with wonderful potential. We know both properties and prefer the concept of Weekapaug Inn. OH is too stuffy and formal for us. WI should be an alternative. In the same way that Weekapaug itself is an unpretentious alternative to Watch Hill or any of the other over the top choices on the Cape, the Hamptons or the Islands. We are rooting for you but you need to admit you have issues and begin to address them. read more
