This is a fun little coffee shop (emphasis on little!) in the lobby of the Joule hotel. There's no outside signage, which makes it difficult to find at first, and I had to ask the doorman if I was in the right place. The decor is chic, sleek and modern. It almost feels like a cafe in a fancy museum. It's on the pricier side ($3.79 for an Iced Americano) but the coffee is yummy. The baristas were smiling and friendly and even though they got my order wrong initially they fixed it right away. The seating area sprawls out into the lobby, and it's not immediately clear if the many people seated at the multitude of tables, chairs and couches are patrons of the cafe or the hotel (several people had luggage at their feet). It's a nice place to escape the heat and enjoy a cold drink in a posh environment. There weren't many pastries when I arrived in the late afternoon, but I'd certainly be interested to come back and try one of their waffles. read more

What distinguishes Weekend Coffee from much of the craft coffee places in the metroplex is its modern feel and boutique hotel location. A lot of the best coffee shops in the DFW are very hipster-ish and very committed to cultivating that kind of feel, but Weekend Coffee is very modern and dare i say chic when it comes to atmosphere. The place is in a hotel, so it's not really one of those coffee shops where you can study, but whatever, if you're looking for a good cup of coffee before you go about doing stuff in the city then Weekend Coffee is a good option. I think they're the only shop in the metroplex (that I know of) that uses Victrola Coffee (from Seattle), which also sets them apart from the other DFW coffee shops. What's cute about Weekend Coffee is that after they make their own cold brew overnight, they then bottle them--yes, they bottle them! Definitely another good coffee shop, so glad that there are more and more good places popping up in the metroplex! read more

Iced Chai latte with almond milk is so good I come here almost every day it open for it. It's such a good coffee place inside the Joule. The parking is a pain but it's fun to come here during the day and walk around downtown. The coffee is so good and there's a nearby seating area where there's also a bunch of artwork. They have a really simple and small menu, but they offer handcrafted drinks which more than makes up for it. They have this coffee drip which is also really cool. read more

Pros: baristas pour well, complimentary valet, good ambiance for chatting (less for studying), bougie enough to feel fancy, but not too bougie to feel out of place, easy access to other attractions (I.e. The Dallas Eye) and other great restaurants. Cons: prices are higher than the typical market price, service is hit or miss, traffic to get into the area is deterring, and it's a small shop so seating is limited and the business is pretty typically busy. I got an opportunity to try Weekend at a pop up at my apt building. The coffee was SO delicious, no burned bean or bitter taste. It was only a black coffee with oat milk but it hit the spot on a rainy morning. I also tried the blueberry muffin and again, SO delicious. It was light and fluffy with a ton of blueberries. Nothing really beats being a tourist in your own town, which is why my wife, entertaining friends from Germany, decided to stop into Weekend Coffee before our touristy Segway trip we had planned later. I typically opt for a cortado when trying a new place, and this was no exception, except that their equivalent is called the Gibraltar - so named after the glass used, which varies from the typical cortado style glass. Drinks were served together (others got Gibraltar, lattes) on a nice wood plank, which was visually quite nice with the foam art the maestro barista had whipped up. A very pleasant drink, really enjoyed that milk was steamed to the proper not-scaling temps others seem to achieve. Lots of seating in the area outside of Weekend Coffee, where many folks were working/meeting, but lots of community seating as well. read more

First time in Dallas for work and I had an hour to kill between my meetings so I stopped by since it was close to my hotel and had good reviews. I ordered a vanilla latte and a giant sugar cookie. The latte is really good, super creamy, and just sweet enough. I can easily see myself stopping by again if I actually lived in the area. The seating is actually in a hotel lobby, which is good and bad. I didn't have any trouble finding seats, and I didn't feel uncomfortable staying long, but it didn't feel cozy like a typical coffee shop is. There is also a cute book shop and little gift store across the lobby. I guess I don't know if I should be disappointed or not with the lack of baked goods/food. It was close to lunch time so I was really hoping for a big slice of banana bread or a small sandwich, but I guess this wasn't advertised anywhere so I can't really ding them on that. One of my favorite coffee escapes in Dallas. Great interiors by the stylists of the Joule hotel. I can get a really fantastic coffee, every time, and sit in an inspirational setting and get work done. I've never had a bad drink and I too am a barista, working with coffee all the time. They use Victrola Coffee Roasters from Seattle, WA which is always freshly roasted. The pastries are some of the best in the city made by the Joule's in-house pastry chef, not to mention donuts from Hypnotic. If you can endure parking downtown grab a cup here for sure. read more

If you are staying at The Joule then coffee is only a few short steps from bed and if you are coming just for the coffee it gives you an excuse to see the lobby of The Joule hotel and hair down for your cup of coffee among the eclectic, modern furniture. I had drip, pour over, and a latte during my three morning stay. The most memorable drink and one I did not try is The Californian which is four shots of iced espresso with agave syrup. Cute little cafe that was a little difficult to find in downtown Dallas. My boyfriend and I ended up asking a valet man near a hotel who kindly directed us in the building where the cafe was actually sitting. Despite it being pretty small, it was busy for a Friday afternoon. There were hardly any places to sit in the cafe itself as well as the lobby-ish area around the cafe. The drinks were okay. Just went to this coffee shop with my mini family. We have 2 puppies so it can be difficult sometimes. One person stays outside with the puppies and one orders the coffee. We were about to do that but their friendly staff at the door told us that our pupies can enter the hotel and the coffee shop. We entered and the employees were so friendly and kind to our puppies and even gave them a treat. They made my puppies feel welcome and that seriously made my day. Now about the coffee. I always order the same usual iced coffee, chai tea, mocha, or matcha latte at any coffee shop. Today, I wanted something different and they have a spanish latte. It is a latte with condensed milk and cinnamon. I wanted to try it so that was my final choice. The latte was made very quick and the staff kindly brought it out to my table. I tasted the latte and it was so delicious! Perfect amount of sweetness and creaminess with a bit of cinnamon to spice it up. I forgot to try my guy's coffee but he said his drink was good also. If I'm looking to impress a date or client over coffee, I'm telling them to meet me here and I'm camping out in some swanky seating to read for a bit before they get there. I was coffee shop hopping through Dallas and this was by far my favorite non-hipster place and possibly one of my favorite spots for an early morning reading spot or afternoon work spot looking to jump into the weekend properly. I keep my coffee pure and simple. I want some nice medium body beans roasted well and I just want an espresso, long black or maybe a pour-over with some special beans if I'm feeling splurgey. Weekend Coffee's setting is definitely place to treat yo' self and especially in light of the expensive restaurants, design shop and hotel in the immediate vicinity, it almost seems wrong that it only takes a few dollars to feel so spoiled. The coffee was outstanding. Maybe not the absolute best coffee I've had, but certainly befitting of the gorgeous environment The worst thing about this place is the parking, and that's to be understood as their core clientele are hotel guests and valeting restaurant patrons, if you're patient and willing to walk a bit you can find some on street pay parking, but it's definitely not super convenient to park and walk here. I came in and ordered a small latte and it was $7 - I think they have gotten overpriced and the baristas are very unfriendly. I would recommend this area for those looking to work but not for groups trying to chat. You're in the lobby area next to the bar and elevators so you're in the midst of heavy foot traffic. Noisy but not noisy enough to be considered "white noise". I'd go again, but only if I'm in the area and only for a grab-and-go cup of coffee. Look elsewhere if you're seeking vibes. First things first... this place is so modern and cozy! Its located inside the Joule Hotel which can be described in the same way! I ordered an oat milk latè and a sesame bagel this morning. They were both delicious! The espresso was smooth and delicious, and the oat milk was creamy! I even got a nice heart shape in my steamed milk! Love that! I highly recommend stopping in and trying their cold brew as it is also so tasty! The only thing I suggest improving on is the friendliness of the staff! Love this little coffee shop hidden away in the Joule. I always get the chai latte which is actually delicious... It almost tastes like there's pieces of cookie inside of it? Either way, it's my favorite. :) My husband always gets a coffee, and he finds it pretty satisfying as well-- :) Although there's not a ton of room inside, I love when there's a spot for me at the big table. I used to go often when I was studying for board exams, and there's free Wi-Fi and plenty of plugs (which are actually hidden inside the table - you have to press on something for the outlets to pop up!). The Joule itself is, of course, lovely. If you're done with your drink, pop into TenOverSix for some browsing or The Taschen Library for pretty coffee table books. :) read more

Flanked by a small art gallery, a Taschen bookstore, a boutique gift shop, and a cocktail bar, there is definitely a vibe of being too cool for school if one were to partake in a coffee+pastry sitting in the swanky Joule Hotel lobby. This is not your independent coffee house where one goes to cram for an exam within a cozy nook of solitary anonymity, but more so a place to people watch and be seen as you compose the latest entry on your style blog in regards to the top 5 methods to fold the perfect pocket square, hoping some beautiful onlooker happens to steal a glance at your screen and you catch them in the act and proceed to invite them to join you on the couch to partake in a few shots of Guatemalan single source expresso. Just as the great hotel bars synergize style with substance with an impressive array of signature drinks and decor, Weekend Coffee is no slouch when it comes to their java with the entrance lined by two impressive Kyoto cold brew drip towers, a row of brew rails, and a chalk board of specials highlighting specific beans and drinks including the Gibraltar, which I'm thinking the cool kids are now calling the Cortado these days. I opted for the mocha, since I'm a snobby chocoholic so anytime a barista specifies using local artisan chocolate (in this case Dallas' Dude, Sweet Chocolate) rather than syrup from a pump, I am usually compelled to give it a try. The mocha was perfectly balanced with the rich expresso flavor playing the lead leaving a subtle velvety bittersweet chocolate note harmonizing in the background. Had I not had such a full breakfast down the hall at CBD Provisions (more on this in a future review), I would have opted to pair my mocha with a Belgian street waffle, croissant, or house made pop tart. Granted the prices are above average for coffee and snacks, the piffling price of admission to live a brief daydream within this little idyll of high society is well worth it. read more

I frequent this caffeinated Xanadu multiple times a day, and despite spending an eighth of my income, I still feel as though I could use just one more 'pick me up'. Let me add my however (which is in no way directed at the establishment, but rather the fools who would not understand this downtown Dallas gem). Weekend is one of the few places in the city that takes pride in their coffee. For those in search of a a 20 oz cup of lukewarm milk with 3 month old, burnt, decrepit espresso beans that look and taste like the shit they are, stick to Starbucks.
