When we moved from CA to Virginia a couple of years ago, I was so thrilled to be able to shop at Wegmans again (used to live in the NE). Wegmans is my favorite grocery store, the quality is consistent the stores clean and inviting. I wanted to specifically mention MARTY who works in the Wine department. I LOVE seeing Marty when I come to the store, he is so earnest and sweet and always working to introduce the patrons to some of the wonderful wines Wegmans carry. At first glance, this Wegman's seems smaller than it actually is. But I think that's due in some part to the way the store departments are organized. But navigating the store is fairly straightforward, and the inventory is generally good. I would have liked the produce section to be a bit larger. The worst part was actually the parking garage, very humid and stuffy. As mentioned in other reviews, prices are pretty much what you would expect in an area like this. read more

I've been to this Wegmans location many times. It is very new. I must say I love the underground parking spaces are very wide in adequate room to place cards so there are no longer in danger of hitting cars. We went there late in the afternoon and I tried their pizza for the first time a mushroom and some special type of cheese. I must say one of the best slices of pizza I have ever had on a thin crust baked to perfection, perfect temperature no need to add any other toppings. I will return back to try the craft your own pizza based on the quality of this. They have a lovely area for sitting complete with a microwave. If you want to heat up some of the other cold foods Wi-Fi is complementary seating area is very clean. read more

This store has everything you could want...fresh fish, stellar produce, fresh bread of all kinds, cheese and meat selection without rival. The hours are pretty good (I have never decided to shop and they were closed). Sandwich and sushi bar all fresh. The location is really close to my place so it's a no brainer shopping at this store. The only two items you should be aware of when shopping at this location. The garage is tight...when I parked in the garage I had a really expensive Benz parked next to me which makes me nervous. I normally park on the street. The other item to be aware of is the sloppy construction next door. I picked up (see the pic) drywall screws, what I'm guessing is some type of electrical box screw and nails in small plastic holders. Clean and always so easy to shop. I went here ro grab a salad for lunch and there were lots of variety. I got the el jefe salad with chicken. It was a big portion so I ate it for two days. The salad was definitely made fresh because I can taste the freshness. The sandwich is about $10 and it is HUGE! Quick service, easy in and easy out! read more

The past few years, I was eagerly awaiting the opening of this Wegmans. How nice to have a Wegman's so close to where I live. Before it opened, it had been pointed out in various news articles that it would be smaller than their average stores. And, yes, that is the case. Yes, it is smaller and when one shops there it's hard to not notice that some departments (bakery, produce, meat, poultry, seafood and ready to eat items) are limited in what is available here. Still, we've been able to find what we need (for the most part) when we shop here. There definitely are advantages to using this Wegmans. For example, one day when looking at the long term weather forecast and seeing rain was predicted on the day we do grocery shopping, I had an epiphany...of sorts. I realized that shopping at this Wegman's meant that we didn't have to get wet when we loaded up the car with our groceries! How nice! Parking is in a 2 level garage and we've always found parking on the P1 level. There are ample cart returns in the garage, too. When entering the store, you have a choice---either take the elevator up or use the escalator. I recommend using the escalator because once you're upstairs, that's where most of the shopping carts are stored. When going down, once shopping is done, your shopping cart goes down the escalator with you. I have a photo up showing how that works. The check out lines during the weekdays are not long at all so we get in and out fairly quickly. One thing to note---Wegmans no longer offers up plastic bags, only paper bags. Now we save plastic bags from other stores and bring them to Wegmans. The cashiers have no problems with that. Wegmans, as my husband noted, seems to really push their generic items. Just by looking in the freezer cases, it's very obvious. For the most part, we've had no problems with their generics. We've gotten to like their popcorn, for example. The aisle with laundry detergents doesn't have a big selection of name brand items. Nor does the paper products aisle. Another thing we do like---is their sushi/sashimi and they also have seaweed salad that can be bought to go along with it. Normally, Wegmans has a great charcuterie selection, but not at this one. Plus, every time we take a look, what there is has always been close to expiring, which is disappointing. So...we take the good with the not so good and that's okay. We also go to different supermarkets to shop, such as Safeway and Harris Teeter as both have items that we can't find at Wegmans. Yes, If you live nearby and haven't checked out this Wegmans, do give it a try. They regularly send out coupons, which we use. As has been pointed out, the area the store is in is still under construction and quite a way from being fully built out, yet we haven't had any problems getting in or getting out. read more

It's a wegmans. Has all the stuff you would expect. Parking is easy, at least at the time we visited (Sat AM). Selection was solid, not the biggest wegmans I've been to, but certainly complete. I shop here every week because this Wegmans is close by. It is clean and organized. The stockers will pause for you to pass in the aisle. The workers ask politely if you need help in finding something. Also, they sense when I don't want to be bothered. The prepared meals and desserts are always delicious. The self serve refrigerators and shelves are stocked very well. The workers are helpful and will step up to prepare an order. For example, the bread slicer was cleaned and shut down. The worker turned it on to prepare to cut a loaf into half for me. I appreciated that she genuinely didn't mind since it was near the end of her shift. read more

The location is the reason why I only give it a 3 star. Who wants to go down into a parking garage to do their grocery shopping? Retail shopping, yes. Grocery shopping, no. All the other Wegman stores are openly laid out and the one in Reston seemed cramped and half the shelves. I think Reston deserves a better Wegmans location. read more

This review simply pertains the bakery. There are a few items which are standout here, but which definitely have seen an increasing price point over time. While ingredients are exceptional, the quality of execution is only slightly above average, and starts to pale when compared to peers within the area. When further compounded by the price point, it is very difficult to justify grabbing something from the bakery here outside of convenience purposes. The creme brulee cheesecake is timeless. A close second would be the pumpkin cheesecake. In the pantheon of grocery store bakeries, these two likely stand far above the rest. There are a few other items that Wegmans produces that are also pretty good, pretty much anything with walnuts, pumpkin, or lemon. Everything else, however, is some varying shade of disappointing to marginally above mediocre. Given the expectation based upon image as well as the price point of wegmans, I find that difficult to reconcile. Service is impeccable and there are numerous times that the staff has accommodated a request. So I definitely applaud and am thankful to the staff. read more

When the store first opened, we were very excited. Overall, the shopping was a good experience. But as time is progressed, they're having the same issues as giant and other grocery stores with mispriced items and selections being spotty. In addition to that, my son who lives in the Reston community, applied for a job. Interview went well, but never heard a word back again. This also speaks to their professionalism, as if you can't take the courtesy of letting someone know yes or no on an interview, then you show your real lack of concern for the potential employees and people as a whole. Overall, becoming more disappointed with this store and I believe we will see the downward slide in quality will increase as we go forward. read more

I made the trek to the new Wegmans in Reston this morning and was not disappointed. It wasn't as crowded as I anticipated, so I had the chance to stroll through the store. Be forewarned that there is construction going on around the Wegman location. Not unusual for Northern Virginia, but it made things a little challenging. The store has underground parking, which was a nice surprise. It is a tad tight, but it wasn't hard to get in and out. There is an escalator that takes you up to the store level, to include a cart escalator that will help you bring your cart down to your car after shopping. A cart escalator...we are just that extra. If I can figure it out, anyone can. The store it self will be totally confusing for anyone used to shopping at the Dulles location. When you walk in, it isn't entirely clear where you should start. There was an employee handing out paper directories when I walked in, so that definitely gave me a clue on how to proceed. Nothing like shopping in a brand new, spiffy and fully stocked Wegmans. Yeah!! For those that have read my review of the Dulles location, I did not experience the level of stress that I felt when shopping at the Dulles location. It might take me a few more trips to figure out why, but maybe the clientele in Reston is a bit more relaxed and not as frantic. The employees are also more engaging and helpful. Did I mention that having covered parking is a big plus when it's cold or raining? I can't point out a single miss for this store. The shelves are fully stocked, the employees are cheerful and helpful and they have all the Wegman favorites. When I returned home, I did a price comparison with the Giant where I normally shop. It was a significant savings on basic groceries. The key to shopping at Wegmans, as most people know, is avoiding the draw to the high end prepared foods and specialty items. However, knowing that they are there if you need them is always reassuring. You have to treat yourself every now and then, right? Today, my treat was a 2lb box of the biggest and freshest strawberries I have seen in months! Without a doubt, I will be able to find anything I need for my cooking at this Wegmans. I can't imagine there being anything they don't have. I didn't fully explore the wine and beer section, but in passing it looked like they will be giving Total Win a run for their money in this area. Of course, the bakery was amazing and pushing out fresh items as I walked through. I'm pretty sure I gained five pounds just from the wafting scent of freshly baked carbs! This is a five star store if there ever was one. I look forward to many return trips, especially when there is a pending thunderstorm in the heat of August. I can pull in to the covered parking garage and not have to worry about heat, rain or not being able to find the freshest ingredients for my daily cooking. Well done Wegmans! This is a good Wegmans, always clean and plenty of parking. It has most of the Wegmans mainstays but is slightly smaller than the stand-alone stores. Not a bad thing, just an FYI. Some more details on this store: 1. Again, this is a smaller Wegmans. Aisles seem more narrow than the stand-alone store ms and just generally it has less space in some areas. 2. It's at the bottom of an apartment building and the parking is underground. You'll need to take an elevator or escalator 1-2 floors to the store entrance. 3. This one doesn't have a traditional coffee bar with a barista that many Wegmans have, just a self-serve machine. 4. No bulk food with the self-serve containers (lever system). Everything that would be bulk is in pre-packed plastic containers. 5. No self-serve olive bar. 6. Has all the to-go options: sushi, pizza, etc. with its own checkout lane. 7. It has a really nice seating area for eating. Go to the second level to get a view of the store from above. Large booths and more traditional tables and chairs. 8. I like other stores like Sterling VA or Chantilly VA Wegmans better. I live in Reston, so this store is convenient, however depending on when I visit they run out of items and manage the bakery differently than at larger locations. I enjoy the baked items at Wegmans, but I don't appreciate how they box up more pastries than what they have out and the selection of Fry Cakes has been consistently disappointing, as I was looking for white and not chocolate fry cakes and there are none. I had a great Strawberry Danish from the bakery recently. Whoever thought it was a good idea to pre-package two danishes together, sandwiched together didn't consider how it would be unpleasant for the apple topping from the bottom to stick to the strawberry one on top. If you are going to sandwich danishes together in a 2-pack, at least put paper in between. I will go out of my way to go to other locations, since the management at this store clearly doesn't pay much attention to details that matter to me. read more

I haven't been able to rely on the Reston Wegmans due to out of stock issues with a number of items ranging from veggie to meat, yogurt, milk to other essentials. I have been going to Dulles and McLean depending on my daily commute and I found those stores more reliable in terms of product availability. Just today, I thought I'd give the Reston store one more chance, just needed one particular yogert jug and sure enough the section was empty with a single flavor of that brand/type left. Reston Wegmans can't seem to get their stocking/quantity/demand right to serve their patrons consistently or reliably. read more

Great produce, however, I was browsing meat and was greeted by Walker, who greeted me with "what's up girl" which really threw me off, because I am a male, and it implies how he assumed my gender and it really hurt me. I've been visiting this Wegman's since they opened in February and I love this location. I'm not from Reston but it's conveniently located off of the toll road. Parking is always easy and they have a fresh collection of produce, prepared meals, sushi, and more. There are always tons of registers open for check out and I never have to wait in line. It's also an added bonus that they've been sending out coupons in the mail. read more

The setting of the store is a cramped parking garage. Corporate seems to consider this to be a downtown store so the pet food section is a fraction of the size of local suburban competitors (Harris Teeter, two Giants, two Safeways along with Whole Foods and Traders Joes-all within a two mile radius). No pharmacy, stairs, elevators, escalators. A downtown grocery experience in a suburban area. My wife and I (retired) are day 1 customers of the Sterling Wegman's and have been in, I think, every Wegman's from Fredericksburg (140,000 square feet) and Gainesville north into PA and the Rochester signature showcase. The 85,000 square foot Reston is the worst. Aside from Town Center and Weihle avenue this is still the suburbs. There are dogs and cats here. (who don't need a parking garage.) Not an inner city store with thick concrete columns and 20+ stories above like Tyson's. There is no street parking (Fairfax county has a bike land with empty fields surrounding the store.). You must park in the garage. And use the elevators, escalators and stairs. There is no alternative. And a lot of people drive like they've never been in a large inner city parking garage before. Again, pet food is a fraction of the size of other stores with limited selection. A overall virtual absence of ambience to use the buffets and dine in the store. Somehow the $15.00 dinner package bowl of salmon and veggies seems more expensive here-although Wegman's fantastic $5.99 pizza is still a great bargain. The store lacks character and, again, feels cramped. And the garage that you must park in. I love Wegman's: we'll continue to drive the ten + minutes to either Sterling or Fairfax. Shopping is still a pleasure in these stores. But not in Reston. read more

She took the time to figure out what I wanted, set some aside for me on the next shipment, and then call me to tell me it was ready. You don't get service like that these days! Ordered a cake in advance from Wegmans Reston for a special occasion. When I picked it up on the day of, the cake was ready, but the lettering was a mess. The lettering was all run together, making it impossible to read the name. Just expecting to pick up the cake and leave, I had to wait an extra 15-20 minutes for them to scrape off the lettering and redo it properly from someone who told me she "doesn't normally do this" so imagine my anxiety on if she would do it right! Did I mention I also PAID in advance? Also, did NO ONE happen to look over the cake or check for quality before they slapped a big PAID sticker on it? Disappointing experience. read more

I have been going to this Wegmans location for almost two years. Ayman at the sandwich shop is always such a friendly/welcoming face. He makes sure to take any food allergies into consideration and leaves you with a smile. I am shopping at the sandwich shop pretty much every week. I live nearby and in so surprised they don't carry organic toilet paper, or lactaid milk in a quart size. Groceries are limited and pricing for pineapples has 2 different prices on pineapple pieces container. When I asked manager why one said $4.99 and same size other one costs $11.90. She puts it back on shelf and says " you can take the cheapest one". Other then that cashiers are hard working. read more

Strawberries that went bad, salads with cucumbers that look like they got frozen and defrosted and frozen again. Wow. Finally a Wegmans near me. It reminds me of Europe. Underground parking with an escalator taking you up to the main floor. What struck me first was the lighting. It's amazing. Low key but beautiful. The food stations are well stocked and well attended. Even on a Sunday they were all manned and serving food. The selection is first rate. I am fixated on the fresh food: Sushi, bakery, meat, subs etc. Just a beautiful place to stroll around. And also an escalator for your cart down to the parking garage. Love it. read more

I came in here today for the first time since they had opened which was about six months ago. I just needed to pick-up a few items and some fruit to hold me over thru the weekend. My other motivation was to come in here and escape the sweltering heat outside. By 10am it was near 90 degrees already. A couple of things that were on my list were a gallon of skim milk, a half gallon of orange juice, a loaf of wheat bread, a half dozen apples, and some bananas. This is one of those stores where you could spend hours just throwing food items in your basket. They have everything here. They even carry an exotic fruit called Cherimoya which is nearly impossible to find anywhere. There is a sign for it but it appeared that theywere sold out. This dude named Jacob made a special effort for me and went in the back to go look for the fruit. And he found it! Thanks Jacob I appreciate you! At $7.55 for a single Cherimoya it's definitely worth the price, because they are so gosh darn delicious!. The Asia food bar and wing bar were not set-up yet at this hour, but I did end-up finding a wonderful package of California Roll style sushi. read more

First, it's a Wegmans so you expect a great experience. I visited for the first time today and wasn't over impressed. I like the Dulles location better. This store has covered parking. It's a little tight but not a issue. I found the lighting in the garage to be extremely dim and almost dangerous. For a new building the lighting should be like daylight in that garage. The store is large you would expect from a Wegmans and has a incredible selection but the one thing I go to Dulles store for is Pastina by Barilla. It's a very fine pasta that used to be served to babies. I use it for soup. Wegmans Dulles is the only store in NOVA that still carries it but this location didn't. I also prefer the food court and upstairs seattat Dulles. This would be 5 stars otherwise. read more

I needed some large lobster tails for a birthday dinner, so I thought I'd give the new Reston Wegmans a try. Julian the seafood dept manager told me that he didn't have the 8 oz. sizes in stock but he knew of a store that hat them. I a couple of days I picked up the tails and this past Sunday; I butterflied them and they turned out great. Though the tails were $22 ea. they were worth the extra cost because they cook easier ( I use a meat thermometer) when the temp. reaches 140 to 142 degrees; they are done. The other reason to get the larger tails is that they last through the whole meal, instead of being eaten up in a couple of minutes. Thanks to Julian for going the extra mile to help a customer out. I am a customer every day when I walk in this store and from my observation there is always an hostile behavior from the management crew in the store. I had an incident on Friday where I was a shopper inside of the store, and I had one of their supervisor to bring to my attention that they had policy, and procedures they were in place inside of the store, and I asked him to let me see the policy in pursuit procedures, because of implemented in reference to safety and they could not give me that information so I would say this store is never have enough inventory because I shop all the time they're always out of things and I spoke to their store manager Katie, the following day and she was not able to show me where they had policies and procedures, said in place for safety measure in reference to customer, shopping at the store you cannot implement a policy when you're not able to share that information with a consumer I am a consumer and so there's not a welcome store to shop at for urban ethnic backgrounds, they continue to conduct the race card at this establishment. I was told by Katie that if I don't follow these rules that I cannot shop at this store and I told her to her face that she has no right to tell me that I cannot shop at the store if she's only a manager she is not the CEO of the company and if you're basically implementing corporate policy and procedures, then you have to follow up with Showing the customer where these policy and procedures are coming from. read more
