Came to pick up food for my family and unfortunately the quality of their food has gone down quite tremendously. As a child I grew up eating here all the time with my family and we loved their char siu go lo mein and roast duck. Now, the prices have gone up a lot, however the quality of their food has gone down. I ordered a char siu go lo mein and a roast chicken roast duck combo plate at the window. I was told to wait about 15 minutes but waited for about 20 minutes. The char siu go lo mein BARELY had any char siu in it, and the pieces that were in there were literally thinner than the noodles. The roast duck roast chicken plate came with about 4 pieces of roast duck chopped nicely and 4 pieces of roast chicken also chopped, along with a scoop of rice. Thankfully, their roast duck still remains delicious. But the roast chicken was so dry, and it was so small it looked like it shrunk from sitting around for too long. Sadly, I don't think I'll be coming back here anymore. I actually refrained from coming here after having a horrible cake noodle experience, but have since found a place that does it better. I guess my mom is to credit for my return as she loves ordering a specific dish from here. My craving for Chinese food got the best of me, so I looked at their menu (a pic I posted, thank you very much) and gave them another try. UPDATES: Since my last review, Wei Wei has expanded with a second location called Wei Wei Cafe & Noodle House, oddly close to this original spot (not even a mile away) on Market Street, serving a similar menu. They've also expanded the restaurant, taking over the space next door which more than doubled the dining room's size. But, the a/c is always broken or can't keep up, so it's pretty toasty inside. The majority of orders are takeout so I guess there's no need to rectify the problem? FOOD: Black Bean Sauce Chicken - $12.96 I have found my new go-to dish! It was everything I had imagined; chunks of chicken stir fried with veggies (onions, green bell peppers, canned bamboo shoots, white onions, and zucchini) in a savory black bean sauce. While the flavors could be just a bit bolder, it's a really good dish that hit the spot, even for my picky spouse. Ginger Chicken - $12.96 The portion size is generous and the chicken fresh, with the perfect amount of salt, topped with a tasty concoction of minced ginger and green onions. Highly recommended. Chicken Chow Mein - $11.95 This is a favorite of my mom's. Flat noodles (like fettuccine) topped with a stir fry gravy mixture of broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, cabbage, and white onions. Subtle flavors but still very good. Portion size is very generous. Kung Pao Chicken - $12.96 Oh man, I now have two go-to dishes here! Bold flavors and a bit of heat made this dish a home run for me. Fresh zucchini, crunchy onions and whole peanuts added check marks in the positive column. My only gripe is that it was a bit oily. SERVICE: They actually steer opposite of the stereotypical but quite true style of Chinese places. Friendly and patient is what I observe. Try finding that elsewhere! A hiccup occurred as I phoned in my order though. It took a while for them to answer. Once they did, the lady said she'd be right back, put the phone down (not on hold) and forgot about me as I could hear her talking story to someone. I called back, she apologized and took my order. OVERALL: They may not be the quintessential example of what a Chinese restaurant should be, but hey, it's better than nothing and most of their dishes are pretty legit. This is the worst Chinese Restaurant I've been to in my whole life. I was excited to find chinese food in Maui so I ordered a whole roasted chicken, wonton noodles, Young Chow Fried Rice. I asked the guy if their roasted chicken is the one exactly on the menu picture & he said yes so I excitedly ordered it. My order as to go. I got home & d chicken was all cut up & looks like it's been fried. I tried it & it tasted like old chicken that's been re-cooked. It tasted stale, old & it was hard as rock. The young Chow Fried rice was not as it should be. It was dark in color & was soaked in oil. The soup doesn't also look like what a soup looks like. I'm very disappointed with them , I've been going there for a few years , usually the food is decent, this time around, I wanted to try something different, which this review is about and about the poor customer service, I or the Mongolian beef, it should of said Mongolian Zucchini, there was with no exaggeration 10 shreds of beef less then a ounce, and roughly 1 1/2 pounds of zucchini, I called them up and told them about it, basically they called me a liar, then they hung up on me. I was working in the Wailuku area last week, and it was lunch time. I had to grab something quick, as I had to catch my plane back to Oahu. I saw this place - Wei Wei BBQ & Noodle House - not too far from where I was working, so I decided to drop by and check it out. What can I say...........it was a very BAD idea! I walked in, ordered me the House Special Chow Fun Noodle. A bit pricey for what I got, but the worst of it, was the veggies in my noodles did not taste fresh at all...........and overall the food did not taste very good..........that's the bottom line. I've had a noodles like this many times...........and I can say this place cannot compete with the places I've eaten on Oahu, or the mainland. I'm grateful for the owner and workers here. Make dishes custom for my mom. She is sensitive to spice, sodium, and certain foods. So because she is able to ask for whatever she can eat prepared the way that agrees with her is beyond what many places can do for her. Excellent cooked vegetable dishes, char siu, roast duck, and even their double cheese burger is pretty amazing... I would almost compare it to Five Guys. I'd like to try more that they make. Only mark against them is the grease-trap smell when you walk in. Wish they could find a way to take care of that. read more

So there's not too much Chinese restaurants on Maui, but is our go to because it's decent and reasonable. They now have 2 locations. One in the Millyard and another in Happy Valley. This visit I went to the Millyard location. A corner unit in the small complex. Fair warning, the interior is not fancy and smells of frying oil and a concoction of fried dishes. This is probably why I normally choose to take out than dine in. I called my order and in 15 minutes (my total drive time) my food was ready. No one really makes a good roast duck, but Wei Wei does a good job. It's tasty and juicy...and the skinnies delicious. Another choice is their Seafood Cake Noodle. A large portion enough for a family of four and maybe a serving for left overs. I always love pouring the soupy concoction over the bed of noodles and have the different texture of crispy and soft. Plus the sauce is tasty!!! I also ordered their Beef with Ong Choy and Harm Ha. Omg Choy is water spinach and Harm Ha is fish sauce. Like the Ong Choy there's a soft and crispy texture and that nice and salty hit of the Harm Ha. A plate of a little duck, cake noodles and ong choy and I was in a food comatose mode. read more

I love to try neighborhood joints like this, which flourish on loyal local business, rather than an endless stream of tourists who won't be coming back whether it's good or not. The menu is Cantonese-style Chinese and island-style BBQ. All the noodles are made by hand, the old-fashioned way. I had a bowl of saiman flavored with big chunks of BBQ duck still on the bone. it was rustic, savory, and so delicious. I also enjoyed part of my wife's plate of stir-fried ginger chicken with rice. This place is about as far off the beaten tourist path as you can get. For me, that's part of it's charm. It's located in the Millyard Plaza strip mall, around the corner from the Wailuku post office. There is a second location in Pukalani. Open daily 9:30 am to 9:00 pm. Eat-in or take-out. I ordered mochiko chicken, lemon chicken, bbq steak, and an order of the house cake noodles. The mochiko chicken was not tasty, just really oily! My son was pleased with his lemon chicken, and my fiance who ordered the bbq steak thinking he was getting actual steak was bummed to see it was just teri beef! I am a fan of cake noodles! But, definitely not a fan of this one. It was lacking taste and the noodles was overcooked and mushy and their mac salad is the worst! Too much mayonnaise Now I know why the restaurant was empty. My family and I came here to grab a quick lunch before heading off to Queen Kaahumanu Center for some shopping. We wanted some local food and were originally looking for a place called Fern's (formerly Norm's) but found out they closed down since last year. We then wanted to eat at Sam Sato's but they closed at 2pm... ahhh Wailuku restaurants! We passed by Wei Wei BBQ and remembered eating noodles here years ago so we decided to give it another go. The place is kinda grungy but it's a small family-run Chinese restaurant so that gives it some charm. The food was okay. I ordered the Lemon Chicken expecting chicken marinated in a lemony-butter sauce like I've had at many other local restaurants, but instead I got chicken katsu type chicken with a lemon sauce on the side. I was so shocked because I basically got Chicken Katsu with lemon sauce on the side, which somehow turns it into Lemon Chicken. The chicken wasn't bad at all but the rice was a bit hard. I ended up getting tonkatsu sauce on the side to make my lemon chicken into chicken katsu. My brother and mom got the Sweet and Sour Ribs which was pretty tasty and my dad got the Ox Tail Soup. The Ox Tail Soup was $11.95 and only came with three pieces of ox tail, kinda expensive in my opinion. All in all, I think this place is decent if you know what to get. My Lemon Chicken 'soured' my experience though, haha word play. But the left-overs were good at 1 am when I need to get my snack on after watching "Funny People." This restaurant is take out only now so call in advance because their orders take at least 30 minutes to prepare. The crispy egg noodle dish is yummy, but a small portion. I used to like their sweet fish dish, but their sauce got really thin and doesn't taste good. Their ginger chicken is yummy and a great choice. I also like their chicken katsu with or without gravy (cutlet). Remember to ask for napkins and utensils because they don't ask you if you'd like those extras when you pick up your order. Explained to them that's not what I ordered I needed soup instead of fixing it she gives me a bowl of broth and told me to put everything in their. Their take out line is outside around the corner near the kitchen. I've been in the food industry and it clearly shows your food quality based on your kitchen floors and equipment and nothing was cleaned or sanitary. HEY LADY, IF YOU COOK FOOD IN EXPIRED OR DIRTY OIL, NO MATTER WHAT YOU COOK, IT'LL PROBABLY TASTE LIKE SHIYET! You can change the oil every hour, but if the oil is no good, WTF do you think the food will taste like?!
