    Shanghai rice noodles $10.xx
    Tash M.

Ate here for lunch the other day. Got the char siu lo mien and a small order (1/2?) of char siu. All of the food came out to be only $18.99. I literally saved the leftovers for the following lunch and snack. So hefty. The noodles were good, nice we wok-fired taste. No issues so far.

Again only bones with the duck, ginger chicken combo. It was awful.

Again only bones with duck and ginger chicken combo. Very irritating. This is not the first time this has happened.

Roast Chicken - little dry. Almost thought it was white fish for a second.

This place is take out only due to the pandemic. Please consider placing a phone order. Came to pick up food for my family and unfortunately the quality of their food has gone down quite tremendously. As a child I grew up eating here all the time with my family and we loved their char siu go lo mein and roast duck. Now, the prices have gone up a lot, however the quality of their food has gone down. I ordered a char siu go lo mein and a roast chicken roast duck combo plate at the window. I was told to wait about 15 minutes but waited for about 20 minutes. The char siu go lo mein BARELY had any char siu in it, and the pieces that were in there were literally thinner than the noodles. The roast duck roast chicken plate came with about 4 pieces of roast duck chopped nicely and 4 pieces of roast chicken also chopped, along with a scoop of rice. Thankfully, their roast duck still remains delicious. But the roast chicken was so dry, and it was so small it looked like it shrunk from sitting around for too long. Sadly, I don't think I'll be coming back here anymore. It was definitely better back in the days, but after giving this place so many tries, the quality of their food is not worth the amount they charge.

Not enough steak for the chopped steak. But the bbq mix plate was delicious for the price. Rice seemed a bit old though.

So good to see they are Back and Open since the Covid. I appreciate the use of fresh veggies. The char sui noodles are the best that I have experienced on Maui. Nice big serving for about $10. Very nice family owned restaurant. Love the sweet people that work here. They always remember me and ask how my family is. Come support local you will be glad you did

Time for a much needed update as my rating has changed for the better. I actually refrained from coming here after having a horrible cake noodle experience, but have since found a place that does it better. I guess my mom is to credit for my return as she loves ordering a specific dish from here. My craving for Chinese food got the best of me, so I looked at their menu (a pic I posted, thank you very much) and gave them another try. UPDATES: Since my last review, Wei Wei has expanded with a second location called Wei Wei Cafe & Noodle House, oddly close to this original spot (not even a mile away) on Market Street, serving a similar menu. They've also expanded the restaurant, taking over the space next door which more than doubled the dining room's size. But, the a/c is always broken or can't keep up, so it's pretty toasty inside. The majority of orders are takeout so I guess there's no need to rectify the problem? FOOD: Black Bean Sauce Chicken - $12.96 I have found my new go-to dish! It was everything I had imagined; chunks of chicken stir fried with veggies (onions, green bell peppers, canned bamboo shoots, white onions, and zucchini) in a savory black bean sauce. While the flavors could be just a bit bolder, it's a really good dish that hit the spot, even for my picky spouse. Ginger Chicken - $12.96 The portion size is generous and the chicken fresh, with the perfect amount of salt, topped with a tasty concoction of minced ginger and green onions. Highly recommended. Chicken Chow Mein - $11.95 This is a favorite of my mom's. Flat noodles (like fettuccine) topped with a stir fry gravy mixture of broccoli, mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, cabbage, and white onions. Subtle flavors but still very good. Portion size is very generous. Kung Pao Chicken - $12.96 Oh man, I now have two go-to dishes here! Bold flavors and a bit of heat made this dish a home run for me. Fresh zucchini, crunchy onions and whole peanuts added check marks in the positive column. My only gripe is that it was a bit oily. SERVICE: They actually steer opposite of the stereotypical but quite true style of Chinese places. Friendly and patient is what I observe. Try finding that elsewhere! A hiccup occurred as I phoned in my order though. It took a while for them to answer. Once they did, the lady said she'd be right back, put the phone down (not on hold) and forgot about me as I could hear her talking story to someone. I called back, she apologized and took my order. OVERALL: They may not be the quintessential example of what a Chinese restaurant should be, but hey, it's better than nothing and most of their dishes are pretty legit. A jump in star rating is deserved.

    Young Chow Fried Rice.
    Carmen S.

This is the worst Chinese Restaurant I've been to in my whole life. I was excited to find chinese food in Maui so I ordered a whole roasted chicken, wonton noodles, Young Chow Fried Rice. I asked the guy if their roasted chicken is the one exactly on the menu picture & he said yes so I excitedly ordered it. My order as to go. I got home & d chicken was all cut up & looks like it's been fried. I tried it & it tasted like old chicken that's been re-cooked. It tasted stale, old & it was hard as rock. The young Chow Fried rice was not as it should be. It was dark in color & was soaked in oil. The soup doesn't also look like what a soup looks like. I had to throw all the food I ordered since it's not edible. I wasted $58 on garbage. Don't EVER go here! I can't believe they served me this.

First time order take out we ordered Roast Duck. A large portion enough for my husband and I, but just a little salty and we didn't receive any a napkins or utensils.

Wei Wei BBQ & Noodle House in Wailuku, Maui.
    Fran C.

I was working in the Wailuku area last week, and it was lunch time. I had to grab something quick, as I had to catch my plane back to Oahu. I saw this place - Wei Wei BBQ & Noodle House - not too far from where I was working, so I decided to drop by and check it out. What can I say...........it was a very BAD idea! I walked in, ordered me the House Special Chow Fun Noodle. A bit pricey for what I got, but the worst of it, was the veggies in my noodles did not taste fresh at all...........and overall the food did not taste very good..........that's the bottom line. I've had a noodles like this many times...........and I can say this place cannot compete with the places I've eaten on Oahu, or the mainland. Lots of parking, service was okay.........probably won't be coming back here anytime soon.

Half duck half ginger chicken. Duck only bones.

The roast duck was really good actually. The general tsao's chicken and chicken lettuce was good, I've definitely been to other spots that were better but I don't have anything bad to say about it. What I really disliked about this place was the Seafood Bird's Nest. Initially, they thought I ordered a Seafood Delight, but my order was missing the noodles. But they basically just fried up some noodles real quick and threw it under. And that part wouldn't have been a problem for me, but it was honestly waaaay too salty (and I like really salty! so that says a lot to me) It was difficult to eat to be honest, but I of course didn't want to waste it. The seafood included 3 pieces of shrimp, about a stick of imitation crab meat, a couple small pieces of scallop, and A LOT of calamari pieces that were soooo tough to chew, we couldn't even really eat them! For the chicken lettuce, they gave us about 3 full pieces of lettuce that was cut up and then charged us $4.00 for more pieces of lettuce which is pretty pricey lol. The siu mai was mid.. but you get what you pay for. There was also a 3% additional kitchen surcharge which was weird...? Still not sure what that was for lol. And then on top of that there's another 3% charge if you use credit card, so just be aware of that. The service was fine, because there was basically no one else in the restaurant anyway. Also - my boyfriend told me they had no soap in the restroom at all which was inconvenient. Overall, the price of their food does not make sense for the level of quality. I wouldn't recommend to my peers to come here, except maybe just grab their roast duck to go.

Food: We ordered the honey walnut shrimp, miso butterfish, garlic furikake fries, hamachi sashimi, garlic noodles, and crispy chicken. My favorite was the hamachi sashimi. What I enjoyed about this dish was the diced maui onion that offset the citrus from the ponzu. The flavors are light, and refreshing. The most disappointing was the crispy chicken. I thought it was too salty, but that's my preference and salt tolerance. The miso butterfish was also a great dish. The fish was buttery and flavored well. Not too saucy but the perfect amount of sauce. Service: Service is friendly, like most of the restaurants on Maui. The food was served in a timely manner. The ambiance is casual and felt like a bar restaurant. Overall, I'm not sure if I would return. After ordering 6-7 dishes, I wanted to be blown away by at least 4-5 of them, but that wasn't the case. Do yourself a service and try it out at least once if you are curious!

That's a plus for takeout especially if it's a gravy item. I ordered a Mochicko Chicken and Honey Walnut Shrimp Combo Plate Lunch today. Basic Mochicko Chicken recipe so can't go wrong and was plenty about 1 1/2-2 cups worth. Six pieces medium size shrimps. Batter for the shrimp was kind of too thick. I like it thinner just my opinion. Because the batter could be more crisper tossed in the sauce won't be so mushy but since it's thick, it fells mushy for me. One scooped Mac salad and two scoops rice and this plate is filled. No, I could not finish. Half is saved for the next day.

ATMOSPHERE: No renovations have been done sans for the menu board.  The air conditioning was either broken or off as it was very warm inside, yet a few brave souls ate in.  Seating is quite plentiful. MENU: Chinese-inspired hot foods line, pho, saimin, dry noodle dishes, local plate lunches, rice dishes, pork, chicken, burgers, catering.  Ramen is no longer offered. FOOD: Crispy Cake Noodles with Seafood - $12.99 I absolutely love cake noodles so I had to try it. Maui's other "Chinese" eateries all make subpar cake noodle dishes so I wasn't expecting much. I've found the best version on the rock, and it was really, really good.  Say what?!  Yes!  The cake noodles were real cake noodles; crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside.  And, the amount of noodles was obscene!  Literally enough for three servings.  It can't be only about the noodles as the gravy is just as important, and they rocked it! Savory, tasty and chock full of shrimp, zucchini, broccoli, won bok, carrots and mushrooms.  The only downfall were the calamari that were rubbery. I normally wouldn't pour all the gravy onto all the noodles but I did it for you, my fellow Yelpers as I wanted that voilà shot.  You're welcome, lol.  Next time, it'll be rationed in order to keep the noodles' crunchy texture. SERVICE: Counter service was friendly and food delivery was super quick, about 5 minutes. OVERALL: The cake noodles knocked me off of my feet.  I'm totally jubilant that they've made a comeback after their first failed attempt.  Keep it up and that rating might go up one more star!
