Love the location. I really appreciate the idea. This place is not worth anyone's time. They have woke af kids working. The service I got was ridiculously bad. I advised of the attitude, wrong order and the body language on top of the just not present ... hippie chick. I asked for the bill... got and payed and tipped but left a note. They wouldn't listen... then they got the message. Not only was our order wrong, under cooked and served with an attitude and wookie with armpit hair, they actually kicked me out cause I got bad service. Came here on a weekday for lunch and left happy. It was surprisingly busy but the place is pretty small inside. I ordered the chicken in a biscuit sandwich with cheese and it was good. I will say it was a little dry but some hot sauce made everything perfect. I also got it with a side of their Mac and cheese and that was delicious! My lunch companion had the biscuits and gravy and she really loved it. Service was good and quick. We have previously only been to their location in Tucson and it's one of our favorite places to visit. LOVED IT! From the ambiance, service, and food, everything was divine. I love how "warm" and welcome the diner feels, as the name does the diner justice. The decorations are cute and I was quickly brought back to the 1960's, even though I wasn't born until the 1990's, but still- a great feel! Take a seat at the counter! It's nice watching the chefs prepare unique dishes. The fried green tomatoes on sourdough was crispy, juicy, and filling. The fresh corn and arugula cut the grease from the tomatoes and balanced the meal. The jackfruit BBQ fries were "meaty". Overall was pretty disappointed as this was on my list to try for several months. The menu is small but that's okay; You assume they excel at what they offer. We ordered a regular cheese burger and a big Jim sandwich, both lacked flavor. We also ordered a lemonade which was just squeezed lemons and water maybe? Finally our bill came and for 2 adult meals, one kids meal, and a lemonade it was almost $75. That's outrageous for something so sub par. Met my son here for lunch since it's a place he enjoys and I hadn't been. I'm always doesn't to check out new places and I've had the Welcome Diner on my list of stops to try. It's easy to find and sits surrounded by old homes as well as a few other businesses downtown. Upon pulling up you can park on the street as most people do or if you're lucky and depending on if it's a weekend or not you might land one of the few parking spots behind the diner. You can dine in or outside. Upon arrival there's a walk up window where you can get a menu and find a seat, once you know what you want to order if you dine outside you walk up to order and pay. It was a nice day so we chose outside. We waited outside for a quite a few minutes and no one came to the window so we went inside, they looked a bit understaffed as a lot of places these days, but a man came up, apologized and helped us with our orders. They have a large water cooler and cups outside if you're interested in water or can order drinks from inside. The sodas are canned. I didn't get any pics really of inside, but it was great; bright blue seating, bar table to eat/drink and bathrooms clean with graffiti on the walls. I ordered the No Way Jose Burger and my son opted for the BLAT, both combo meals we chose fries for our sides, but you can chose salad, chips, fries, bowl of chili or mac...as well as a few others. I was told they didn't have any Diet Coke, but they were running to the store and would bring it out. Our food came out pretty quickly and looked yummy. Unfortunately I went almost my entire meal without my soda and my son had to go up and ask because they'd forgotten. No biggie. I got it along with some water. Decor outside was a cool vibe and even had some rocking horse type seats out front. Great spot for a downtown hang out with friends. Chill vibe with no rush to leave. My burger was delicious and so much flavor. Gouda, Munster, jalapeño relish, arugula and chipotle ranch on a noble bun which was great because it didn't get soggy. I will say the burger is fairly small and patty thin so keep that in mind if you are looking for a big burger. The BLAT is a BLT with avocado and quite a bit of bacon as well as aioli and usual fixings on sourdough/baguette. Fries were seasoned well and good portion. The menu isn't huge, but I can't wait to come back and try the other items and maybe even drinks. I should also add the offer all day breakfast options and weekend brunch. read more

Had a great experience for dinner here and will for sure be back. Both the service and food was great. Started with a very good old fashioned and finished with some biscuits and gravy. I've heard about Welcome Diner and I finally had the chance to try it out. I had never tried a peanut butter and jelly burger before so I when I saw it on the menu, I thought to myself, "hey, why not!". And good thing I did. The burger was sweet and savory. The peanut butter and jelly mixed well with the medium cooked beef and crispy bacon. The food was delicious but the service left something to be desired. It was moderately busy and I had to wait long periods of time for drink refills. Throughout the meal, I was dehydrated and had to keep asking to get a refill, when the staff was around. The staff was nice, just understaffed. Overall the food was great but being understaffed is what reduced the quality of the dining experience. read more

I had some time to kill between dropping one sister off at the airport and waiting to drop the other off after our annual girls weekend, so I did a quick search for "diners" here on Yelp and am so glad we picked this one! She's vegetarian and I don't eat mammals (is there a word for that?) so we were super stoked to learn so much of the menu was vegetarian friendly. We shared several dishes, as sisters should. The jackfruit eggs benedict was super flavorful and filling. It came with a few pieces of watermelon and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The hashbrown casserole was super cheesy and crispy on the sides. Our tempura green beans were cooked perfectly and the sauces were tasty. Lastly, we shared a churro donut, and while a little dryer thanI usually go for, it was very reminiscent of a churro with chocolate sauce and totally satisfied our need for something a little sweet! Came here late Friday night, past midnight. Love that they are open so late, most people here this late seem to come for the drinks but not us, we were only here for the food. A bit out of my comfort zone but we ended up loving the ambiance, it is very hipster yet very relaxed. All the staff are laid back, nice, and attentive. We ordered the big Jim, that thing was huge which is good because you only get a side of watermelon cubes and it cost $12.00, a bit overpriced if you ask me. The bumblebee was also great, the biscuits are so tender and they compliment the honey perfectly. Also only comes with a side of watermelon and sets you back about $10.00. The poutine was good, not worth $10.00 good, but it was good. It's just fries and gravy with a bit of cheese. The bourbon pecan pie was also very good, it does have a strong bourbon after taste which surprised me, most alcohol infused baked goods only have a hint of the alcohol flavor but not this pie. The alcohol flavor was a bit too strong for my taste but my foodie in crime just loved it. Overall we liked this place, it's so cute and has a great ambiance plus it's open late. Super adorable place to come dine in for Brunch, lunch, and/or dinner. I stumbled upon this place looking for another business and kinda interesting area. Tucked away from the buziness of downtown Phoenix but, such a cute block to have a few business on this one Street. I love when it just happens and you come back having to enjoy it the next time around. Customer service are sooo genuinely nice, very welcoming, food was delicious - my husband had their tamale special which was so good, flavorable, and tasty. But, hes a hearty kinda person so having on the side biscuits and gravy hit the spot for him and satisfied his sunday cravings. Eggs benedict was perfect, Yummy biscuits with their homemade hollandise sauce - perfect, hit the spot. Towards the end of our meal they gave us a donut to promote their sister restaurants "Welcome Chicken and Donuts" and a Postcard of their restaurant for us to write a little note, they will Mail it for free every mondays... so we sent one to our daughter in Kona...Lol! Fun, hippy, eclectic yet completely off the charts kind of place. Been coming here for three years now and the menu items are all to die for. This time I got me an old fashioned, and that drink is very well made here. For my dinner I got the mac and cheese, one of my favorite dishes here. Very creamy, cheesy dish that makes you want more. I also ordered a side of hand cut fries and those were amazing as well. Definitely recommend this place and I'll come back again. Have low expectation for seating and be open minded, you'll have fun. Food is mid. Service is awkward and neglectful. Atmosphere is a little sketchy. We drove there because this place is literally named welcome diner... and my family and I felt the exact opposite. We are just a normal family. Seriously nothing fancy. We don't even mind Dennys sometimes, meaning we are not picky. I am not sure, but I think they tried so hard to make it appear hip, diverse and inclusive that they actually made it exclusive to a certain demographic, whatever that may be but it's definitely not "a family" demographic. Bienvenidos! Always wanting to try new places, my brother and I came here for dinner one evening for their happy hour. It was too humid outside so we snagged two seats at the bar inside. It's a small trailer-like spot with a bathroom reminiscent of one in an airplane. It was cooler inside but a bit cramped of course, and I didn't appreciate being around alcohol and the smell but it was worth it being indoors. We ordered the jackfruit fries from their HH menu to start and I got the Bumblebee biscuit. My brother got the Koko biscuit, which he enjoyed. I thought the fries were great, shoestring topped with purple slaw and jackfruit, such an interesting and tasty food. I loved my biscuit, the fried chicken was done right and the sweet and savory flavors of honey and mustard worked really well. Topped with pickles for a nice crunch and change of texture. I had fun visiting welcome diner! Open super late and some amazing unique options. I think it's cool how they have mostly outdoor seating, makes this place unique. There were a few vegetarian options which looked amazing but I went for the jackfruit sandwich, my boyfriend and I also shared Mac n cheese. My boyfriend got a biscuit with fried chicken and he thought it was awesome! My sandwich was incredible, a crunchy baguette with perfectly spiced jackfruit! I had grabbed ketchup just in case but didn't even need it. My boyfriend didn't like the charred top of the mac n cheese but I thought it was good. He did like the underneath part of it. We also tried the home-brewed ginger beer and it was tasty! The ginger was extremely strong but very good. The Welcome Diner is one of those places that you are thankful to see at the end of a street, when it is far too late at night, and you've had one too many beers. The last time I visited this particular location of The Welcome Diner was Labor Day Weekend and myself and some friends stumbled out of an Uber, losing socks and shoes along the way. We managed to find a booth inside to wrangle our most drunken friend and, amazingly, she wasn't even the person making the biggest scene in the restaurant. But, the staff takes it all in stride and still came by often to refill our coffee and provide an ample amount of napkins for the constant spills that kept occurring. The food is okay, I can't say it's out-of-this-world good, but, the service is something else. This is the place for you to be when you surely would be barred from other establishments at 1 am. read more

Walk into this place and you are greeted by a giant disco ball shining over the host stand. Staff is super friendly and dressed in vintage clothing, almost a Cuba circa 1957 vibe.
