Wow, the last time I got a haircut this quick and awful I was standing in my bathroom with a bowl around my head at the age of 9. I purchased the "signature" haircut, as opposed to the "time saver", which is supposed to include a face massage and shave but received none. I told the stylist multiple times not to touch the top, but she went ahead and did her thing telling me I wanted the "sleek" cut. 8 minutes of silence later, (I kid you not, I watched the clock to avoid her unfriendly demeanor) I am told she is done, and she sends me on my way with gel in my hair that I specifically said I didn't want. I get home, and my girlfriend tells me to turn around, and screams at the patches of hair that are sticking out of the back of my neck, I look in the mirror and find an unevenly cut hairline on my nape, and whole parts of my hair were never cut or cut too deep, leaving me to look like I had a cerebral palsy sufferer go at my neck with shears. I called in afterwards and told them about my cut and they offered me a spot tomorrow to have it amended, but you should still know that this experience is just as capable of happening to you. Don't let the middle aged Asian one go anywhere near your hair unless you want to have the nape of your neck look like the surface of the moon. Oh and it cost $36 dollars too, which is robbery for what I was given, I'm still beating myself up over giving her a tip. read more

I took a long time to write this review, but decided that I should communicate my experience. I have only had one experience with this place, but it was bad. About 3 months ago (just before Xmas '10) my girlfriend made me a present of a haircut and a shave. I had seen the place before and was curious about it, so this was the perfect opportunity to check it out and possibly become a frequent customer. The place looked nice and the person working with me was very courteous. I had a special request for my shave (beard style) and she was willing to accommodate. It would have been a good experience except that at some point she cut me pretty bad and right on top of the cheek bone where there is nothing to shave. Then she made it worse by trying to work on it and removing extra skin. All this time I was sitting on my chair not realizing how bad the cut was, until I made it home and looked myself closely in the mirror. At that time I had a cut that was probably 2 cm long and almost half a centimeter wide. The skin was basically missing. I have been shaving myself for over 20 years now and I did not think that it was possible to get cut so badly during shaving. I visited them about a week after the incident and all they did was to give me some ointment to put in the wound. Three months later and after some treatment I still have a pretty visible scar in this area. Needless to say I am very angry about this and even contemplated legal action at some point. In any case I am writing this to warn others about what can happen in Weldon. Remember: you are the only expert in shaving your own face. read more

Good for coupon price only ($18 instead of $36) Haircut was done for about 10 minutes (when other professionals spend around 30 minutes on the same style) - done innacurate, ends are uneven. Detailing is nothing but advertisement, Scalp Massage is regular hairwash, Hot Face Towel is not impressive:) Place looks pretty old and dark. "Two stars" comes off a little more harsh than I intend for this review; I have never left seething and feel that Weldon Barber was a decent place, but I have enough complaints and issues that it's not an automatic "go back anytime" spot for me anymore. Weldon specializes in men's cuts. As for pricing -- the price of a men's hair cut is about in line with what you'll pay at any typical service salon (when I went it was between $30 - $40 depending on stylist experience). If you want an actual "Barber" experience with no shampoo, styling oil instead of gel/mousse, etc., Weldon isn't for you; the price is set to reflect that you are getting a masculine version of the same services and treatment you'll get if you go to a unisex or female-oriented salon, such as the wash, scalp massage, conditioning, and styling. My cuts have been ok, not great. The stylists seem to have the generic men's haircut down to a science: guard around the sides, blended into a clean trim on top. But if you have curly, rumpled hair, or a longer men's style, or really any kind of hair that is less traditional, you're probably better off going to a place that deals with those hairstyles more often. As it is, my cuts aren't awful, but I often leave with some weighting and layering issues that I either clean up myself or just have to let grow back out. Usually my hair looks great leaving, but after the first couple of washes at home I find the imperfections, and then a couple weeks of growth later it's back to normal. Color is too pricey here. $100+ for highlighting is very high, especially when women's salons can do it for about half that price and get it done faster too. Anytime I've done color there I wind up sitting in the chair for a couple of hours. In fairness, the amount of hair and processing I have done is more than the usual guy, but even with those factors considered it's a long afternoon for me when I go. That aside, the attitudes of the girls working have always been great, and the little bit of pampering is nice. There is a definite value to walking into a salon atmosphere not overrun with a customer base comprised entirely of past-prime soccer parents and senior citizens getting bouffants. I would probably rate this place higher if I had a more standard or generic hairstyle that they can handle easily, but it seems like their area of expertise is focused much more on traditional haircutting. read more

I know about Weldon Barbers when I see the Groupon deal. I usually don't like going to any type of barber shop but by looking at the stellar review, I bought the Groupon deal and made an appointment to get a hair cut. I came few minutes early on my appointment so i waited for couple minutes. The front desk was really nice and offer me a drink while I wait there. The atmosphere of the barber shop is pleasing, there are an oversized leather couch and they provide newspaper so waiting there is pretty comfortable compared to other barber shop. When it's time for my turn, my stylist was Fatima, as other reviewers mentioned that the stylists at Weldon's are a babe, she's a cutie too. She started by giving me a hot towel over my face, I was kind of surprised at first because I'm not used to it but after a while, it's actually feel relaxing, then I get my hair washed, scalp massage, it was really a good overall experience. She asked question on how do I want to cut my hair, I explained it to her since I'm Asian and have a thick hair, I need to get a lot of layer. During the hair cut, we chat and have a light conversation. When it's done, I got my neck shaved and then I get my hair washed again and was given a gel to style it. She even mentioned that they provide a complimentary neck shave between the service if I need to. Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the service. However, I don't think the hair style is how I wanted it to be, there's just not enough layer. I don't blame her since it's not easy to cut Asian style hair and you need to use entirely different technique (ex. point cutting technique). It's a bummer since I paid almost the same price with the other barber shop that I used to visit and get less service there - basically just a hair cut + wash. read more

most amazing haircut experience ever. ok so its pretty expensive 35 bucks for a haircut and 30 bucks for a neck shave and a generous tip but... great clips has nothing on this place. i love it. i go every two weeks and get a "time saver shave" and a haircut. i have been going for 1 year now and have never had a bad cut. the shave is great. it takes about 20 minutes but its like a face massage and the best shave you have ever had in your life. definitely try it. the atmosphere is great... men only, no women haircuts allowed, which i kinda like because its like a boys club. when you walk in its all pretty cute girls and they ask you if you want water or a beverage and then you can have a seat in the lounge. nice big leather sofas and all the mens magazines a guy could ask for. i am super happy with the place and will be going there for a long time (unless i go broke) :) give it a try!!! read more

The "Signature" is a must; the hot towel, scalp massage, and neck shave are fantastic. I've only done the full signature shave once, and it was amazing. All stylists I have used are great, but I think Brittney is the best! And the atmosphere at Weldon is the right amount of manly and classy... not nearly as casual (or cheap) as Sport Clips, but not pretentious/girly like the "spa" haircut places. No drop-off in the recent move from Kirkland Parkplace. Only difference is the parking lot. My preferred spot for a haircut, hands down. read more

Never, ever get a "beard trim." When I booked I said I wanted a trim and to shave at the neck line and she booked me for a quote of $18. Outrageous I thought but went for it anyway. Although I liked Kaylee a lot because she was a sweet girl she did about $3 worth of work and informed me they do not use a straight edge for beard trims. I'm not sure how it can cost $18+tip for next to nothing, but I wonder what kind of a place wouldn't even clean up the bottom with a simple straight edge shave? Oh, and when I called the lady also said it was $22 for a neck and ear cleanup. This place is WAY too much for what you get. Go to "The Shop" down the street. read more

I have had my last 6 or so cuts here, on my first appointment I went with who they gave me, potentially dangerous but I was a bit shaggy at the time and had a trade show in a few days, I have now been to see Fatima every time and been very happy. I bounced around like a lot of guys, looking for a decent cut and maybe a little style to the experience. Weldon provides me with a small amount of "guy spa". Walk in, relax for two or three minutes in a big leather chair, and then my always on-time stylist is there to greet me. The hot towel is welcome, the products top notch. Each of the young ladies who I have had cut my hair has been bright, charming and friendly. I walk out, spring in my step and looking good. I was visiting Seattle, had a day to kill downtown and needed a haircut & beard trim before an important meeting. So I scheduled an appointment a day in advance on Weldon's website. I had no clue which Weldon barber to select so I went with the barber their website scheduled for me. Thi-An was my barber. She did a great, no, perfect job on my hair & beard. I have a large odd-shaped melon. According to my wife, my hair has never looked better. And I really appreciated her advice on the best way for me to trim my own beard between barber visits. Service was great. Weldon has an upscale but unpretentious vibe. The cut isn't cheap, but worth every penny. read more

I had a decent first experience here, so I decided to come back. I arrive early for my appointment just in case they could take me early. However, two guys arrived after my appointment time, but we're taken earlier (the second guy arrived 15 minutes after my scheduled time). No one came to tell me that they were running late (if that was the case). If they were running behind schedule I could understand, but it reflects poorly on the business and the employees if they do not communicate this to customers who see late arrivals being served first. After the first few visits I settled with Brittney, who consistently does a great job and makes the whole experience enjoyable. Definitely go with the Signature Cut (Shampoo, Conditioner, Scalp Massage, Hot Towel, etc.). For $40-$50 including tip it's pretty comparable to other barber shops/salons, and second to none in terms of quality. If she's available, ask for Brittney (make an appointment). I've been living in the Redmond area for 4 years, and during this time I've tried a total of 11 different places before going to Weldon Barber. After 4 years of awful and inconsistent haircuts, a friend of mine recommended this place. I went to the Kirkland location today. First impressions: Clean facility and I was greeted with a smile. I was a bit late, but Fatima was running a bit behind and had to wait about 5 minutes. They have a nice waiting lounge with a few magazines and a TV. The receptionist offered me a drink while I waited. The actual experience: I was scheduled for a Weldon Signature (though I really didn't know what that meant at first). I just figured I'd spend the extra money if needed and hope for a great haircut. Weldon's setup is a bit different than most salons. When you're seated, there is a sink to your right and your barber (stylist?) swivels the chair and does the shampoo without you having to move from place to place and drip water all over the floor - this was nice. They also put hot towels over my face and eyes and I got a great scalp massage. Now for the important part - the haircut itself. Fatima was flat-out outstanding. She asked several questions about how my hair behaves, whether I had cowlicks or other problem spots and then listened to what I wanted and how I wanted my hair styled. She explained that their blades are a lot thinner and recommended a different number for trimming, and it was absolutely precise. I'm pretty picky about my hair, but I didn't have to tell her to redo much. She got it perfect the first time. She was also nice and made interesting conversation the entire time, rather than just going through the motions. Price: I got the Weldon Signature ($36), and got a Microsoft discount. Even without a discount it is not unreasonable at all for what you get. Guys have a hard time getting a good, consistent haircut. I got a perfect haircut for the first time in 4 years, and honestly, for the quality I got, I would have paid twice the price. They also offer a complimentary neck trim in between haircuts, a very nice service. Overall: Absolutely recommend it. First time I felt good about my hair and appearance in years. Ask for Fatima and you won't be disappointed. read more
