I have been a customer of Weldon Barber in Kirkland for many years. I was still a customer even after their move to what I consider to be the worst location in Kirkland. Terrible parking lot, so hard to park and so tough to even get out of the parking lot which was such a huge downgrade from their previous location at Park Place. While I do understand their need to move due to the construction of the new shopping center, I think , they could have chosen a better location. Despite it all, I continued to go because I had to wonderful stylists that were cutting and coloring my hair. So, depending on my schedule, one of them see to be always available. Few weeks ago I was surprised to find out that both of them were moved to the Bellevue location. I did not even know they were opening another location ..?? I was trying to book online with one of them for a week and I could not see their names on the available schedule but their names were still listed ono the website, so after wasting so much of my time, I sent a message to the manager or the owner and I get a message back that both of them were relocated to Bellevue. well, thank you for the advance notice..?? I live in Kirkland and I work in Kirkland, and while I truly appreciate both of the hair stylists , I just don't have the time to drive to Bellevue for a hair cut. When it comes to a hair cut and coloring, it could take the hair stylist some time to figure out the best cut and the best way to color the hair since everyone is different. So, without any advanced notice, I scheduled my hair cut and hair coloring with another hair stylist who was extremely nice. However, the service was truly the worst. Five days after my appointment, the coloring was 90% gone, I did not get my neck shaved which is part of the hair cut that I get all the time . I don't blame the hair stylist as much as the management and the owner. When it comes to such a transition where you are constantly moving stylists around, you need to notify he clients in advance and if to choose another stylist then he or she will have the time to talk with the previous stylist to have a good understanding about the service provided. When I spend on an average 125.00 a visit at your store and many customers do, then you need to have a better follow up system. My last visit was a waste of time and waste of money. Unfortunately, it will be also my last visit. After being a customer for years, I do expect a better service. We just don't have the time to waste and I am hoping that Weldon will understand the real value of each customer. When we pay premium for such a service, we will expect a better service. read more

As it if it is not enough to have to pay between $50-65 for a men's hair cut, even when I already have a bald spot. I was left waiting for 25 minutes, without an acknowledgement or anything that the barber was running late. I ended up having to go to the check in desk and let the person know that I was going to have to leave, as I felt that waiting 25 minutes, for an appointment that actually lasts for 25 minutes, was not cool. I paid for my son's hair cut (who had had a haircut with a different person before), and I still get asked if I want to leave gratuity. No offer to make things up to me or anything, as if I was making them a favor for being their client! I've been coming here for at least 7 years, even though I always thought the prices were too high. I think I'll be exploring different options. read more

I don't usually leave reviews but I had to this time. Without sugarcoating it, I've had the worse haircut of my life in the hands of Chelsea. I booked an appt for a "skin fade" and instead got a buzz cut all around with a single clipper. The only razor that was used was to "clean the neck". Seriously? You guys are advertising a "razor-close skin fade - 45 minutes" and don't even have barbers trained to fade? I know not everyone can pull a close skin fade but don't charge people upwards of $70 for a 25 minute buzz cut. Chelsea is really sweet and nice, but honestly ruined my hair. I'm sorry but I didn't pay $70 to receive smiles & kindness, I'd rather have average customer service with a good haircut than good customer service and a horrible haircut. The worst part is she can't even control her hand movements when holding the trimmer! So many times when I specifically asked not to touch the top of my hair, she'd catch part of my hair with the trimmer because of her hand "slipping" and at one point got my hair tangled and stuck in the trimmer, giving me a bald patch! Like how can one be that careless and incompetent? I came back home to a chunk of hair falling off. I understand that fading is hard, I've accepted the buzz cut, but not having basic control with a trimmer??? I've heard a lot of good stuff about jet but being 2 weeks booked out was hard for me to schedule. Either way this experience was so bad I'm never coming to this place again. Well, I've had two separate stylists transfer to other locations within the +/- 7 month time frame in which I used Weldon. For a premium Barber, they sure have had ample turnover. The place can't be beat, and has set the bar for men's haircuts. I had been searching for a good barber, and had been doing the Rudy's thing for a long time. Rudy's is just like Seattle though ... all hip on the outside, with no personality. At Weldon's you get substance: a classy environment, a fantastic haircut by someone you can ask for by name your next visit. I have been getting my haircut by CARLY for two years now and I've never looked forward to a haircut as much as now. Book with her - you won't be disappointed! Of course, you gotta give yourself the full experience, which is the 'Signature' collection haircut, complete with a scalp massage and neck shave. They don't even mention the 'warm towel' that is included with this like the competition ... cuz you get about four of those during the experience. Weldon's is a cut above. I've been going to Weldon barber for the past 4 years and I leave there every time with a great cut. Jet has been my main stylist and he always takes his time no matter what time you book the appointment, making sure everything is even and you're satisfied with what you get. My husband visited here for the first time before our yearly charity Child's Play Benefit Dinner. He usually goes to the Seattle location but we decided to visit the eastside location to avoid rush hour. It worked out nicely because I was able to find a new coffee place if I'm ever back in that area. Parking spaces are a little narrow by QFC or maybe I kept finding jerks who didn't colour in their own lines. It's why I opted to leave the lot ISO coffee. Chelsea gave him an excellent shave and he mentioned that she was low-key during the whole thing. I recommend this place if you have a bloke in your life who keeps a beard or any facial hair, you might want to gift him a certificate here. I have been to most barbers in Kirkland (multiple barbers at Weldon, The Shop, Sorella, Great Clips, Sport Clips, etc) throughout the years but I no longer bounce around barbers because of Chelsea at Weldon. Don't get me wrong all of the barbers at Weldon and some of the other shops are professional and give excellent haircuts but Chelsea goes above and beyond. Chelsea always remembers how she cut my hair (perfect everytime), doesn't hesitant to give honest suggestions when asked and the fact that she's easy to talk with makes me look forward to every visit! I would suggest calling ahead at least a day before to set an appointment with Chelsea and if you are in the need of rejuvenation/relaxation I would suggest the Signature cut and shave. I have done this a couple of times after a rough night on the town and it's worth every penny! About Weldon in general, I have only experienced great service when I walk in because there are always friendly faces to greet you and ask if you need a drink. Located in downtown Kirkland near good restaurants, Hallmark and QFC...so if you are getting a haircut to look nice for a date or before you go visit your mom you can get the haircut, set up dinner reservations and/or pick up a card and flowers in one trip. read more

About a month after having the best haircut I've ever had with a different stylist there, I decided to go back, but the original girl was not in that day so I went with whoever was available. Carly's haircut was so bad I immediately went to another barber to have them fix it (they couldn't help but laugh when they saw the job Carly did). Weldon Barber started out in Spokane and then moved west with a few sites dotted around the sound. Haircuts are a little pricier here if your getting the signature it includes a short head, neck and shoulder massage and the usual wash, shampoo, clean up etc. The gals are nice and helpful. The waiting room has big plush leather chairs and flat screen tv. When you arrive you get offered a soft drink. Recommend you call in for an appointment - even though the accept walkins they can get busy. Ok I am adding an update to this - they have massive high staff turnover so they experience will vary greatly from visit to visit. Sometimes polite something snarky sometimes nothing. I generally stick to reviewing bars and restaurants, but had to make an exception here. I keep my hair short, and when you screw the pooch there is nowhere I can go (straight razor??), so getting my hair done how I like it has been a battle for years since keeping it short. I've seen some true hack-jobs, so I really know the good from the bad at this point. Chelsea at Welden is one of the best I've been to. At this point I just walk in and go into relax mode. We don't talk about the hair, she knows how I like it and it is perfect every time. The signature is really a relaxing experience. I see why you gals do this "pampering yourself" stuff. I feel a need to update my previous review of Weldon Barber in Kirkland. Just a few minutes ago, i received a nice email from my usual stylist Carly. She apologized for my experience on Saturday and went on to explain that they are unable to do color corrections, which was why it was recommended that I use a clarifying shampoo. She also refunded my the entire cost of my visit, including the tip. It was very nice of her to take the time to reach out to me. I've updated my rating of Weldon, they do care. read more

Just a note... I stopped in the other day looking to try out a new place for my haircut. Although the prices seemed a bit high compared to most places I've visited, I thought it might be worth the cost. Unfortunately, after entering the shop and waiting about 5 minutes, NOBODY ever came to the front desk to greet or acknowledge my presence. At that point, I turned around and went to another shop. I'm updating my review about Weldon. Everything I've written below is no longer valid for Weldon barber. Over the last couple of years I've seen the management increase prices, take perks away from the barbers and more or less concern themselves more with there bottom dollar then the happiness of the barbers and clientele. Elicia is still my barber, she now has her own business, (Master Barber Elicia) and I've followed her. Elicia is what made the Weldon experience worth it and since her leaving the experience just wasn't the same. I would love to see Weldon care more about the clients and more importantly treat their barbers better. I can no longer recommend Weldon. I have spent my entire life getting the "super cut" what i never realized was that what i was getting was no super cut, it was always inconsistent and each time i went i had a new barber that i had to "train" how to cut my hair again all over. I decided to give a real barber shop a try. I didn't want one of those frew frew girly shops, i am a guy after all. I wanted to go to a place that was fun and catered to men. I gave Weldon barber in Kirkland a try for the first time 8 months ago. My first and only Barber is Elicia L. If you want the best you go to her. Elicia is a perky happy and damn smart barber, in addition Elicia is an American Crew trainer/teacher which basically means she knows how to cut hair and more specifically men's hair and finally she is a senior barber. Its all that when added up that make Elicia the best barber i could ask for. Thats not to say though the rest of the staff aren't all little hotties and super friendly because they are. My first experience with Elicia yielded the best haircut i have had in my 26 years of getting "super cuts", but what was the real surprise was when i went back 4 weeks later, she not only remembered me but she knew exactly what to do to my hair again to make it look like it had 4 weeks prior, wait for it... After years of searching for a decent haircut in a semi-masculine place (aka: somewhere that actually had a magazine other than Glamour, Self or Vogue in the waiting area), I finally asked my brother and a few friends for references. They all said Weldon Barber in Kirkland. I was blown away during my first visit, as it was a completely different experience than any other barber/salon I had previously been to! The warm towels and head massage on top of a good, solid hair cut sold me. I've been going to Brittany since March 2010 and couldn't be happier with her service and personality. In a nutshell, the facility is very nicely put-together with big, leather lounge chairs, flat screen TV and a variety of good magazines in the waiting area. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The prices seem to be inline with other places, although we do have a corporate discount for my company which helps a little bit. I haven't noticed much in the way of turnover, as mentioned in other reviews, other than with the receptionists. read more

I came here for a haircut a little while back. My stylist/barber was very friendly and did suit me up with a nice hairdo. They do offer a corporate discount which was nice also. I find myself going to to the issaquah locations just because I think it's a tad cheaper (I could be wrong though), and my barber/stylist there does it perfect. I've been looking for a new barber for a bit now and I couldn't be happier that I found Weldon. From the moment you enter, the vibe puts you at ease. Everyone was welcoming and made sure that I was comfortable while I waited for my appointment. The style and atmosphere is both laid back and sophisticated. What I really want to rave about is my barber Nate. He took the time when we started to get to know me and what I wanted (even though I didn't have much in the way of directions). He is the first barber I've ever had who actually listened to me when I said that I like my hair really short. Also, he was able to give me some really good recommendations on how to control my hair. Probably one of the better places in the area. I come from Portland, OR where I had a place to go get my haircut that I enjoyed so much that I couldn't wait for my hair to get long! With that said, there isn't anything like that here in the Puget Sound area....at least not that I've found. Be prepared to get a good treatment...scalp massage, hot towel treatment, etc...but be prepared to pay a bit more than other places....$40 plus tip. I had Brittany (spelling could be off). It was easy to book an appointment online, and the barber, Jet, was also prepared onto time for the scheduled visit. The staff was very nice and easy to talk to. The shop was clean and inviting. Jet did an excellent job throughout my visit. The visit felt relaxing rather than a chore or hassle to have my hair cut. After I moved to Kirkland, I tried out several different options for getting a decent haircut. This mostly involved the salons around town where I always felt, as a middle-aged guy, like a second-class citizen. I don't get that feeling at Weldon and I don't think their prices are any worse than the salons for the quality of the cut and the service you get. Granted, I got shuffled around between several stylists for the first year or so. Just when I thought I had one 'trained' after a couple of months, the staff got shaken up again. I've had haircuts from a number of barbers there, and I've settled on Diana who nails it every time. Rarely am I able to find a barber who gets it completely right the first time, but Diana did. The 2nd time Diana cut my hair, she tried something a little different, and I wasn't thrilled, but I certainly did not look like my head got run over my a rusty lawn mower. Since then, she sticks to the style that I want and it has been perfect every time. I would give 5 stars on account of Diana, but they did raise their prices about a month ago, and I'm not too happy about that. Who raises prices in this economy? I know the staff at Weldon's read their reviews, so I hope whoever made the brain dead decision to raise prices gets the message. read more

For me, getting a good haircut is about finding a person that does a good job and then going back to that same person. I tried the Groupon promotion (3 signature cuts for $54), made an appointment online with "anyone" and ended up with Fatima. I lucked out. It was a great experience - great shampoo, scalp massage, and haircut. I have been twice now and both experiences have been fantastic. It is a nice 30 min break in the day. I came out both times feeling and looking great (in my not so humble opinion). I highly recommend Fatima, but as long as you get somebody that has been there awhile you should be fine. For the most part, it sounds like they have RELATIVELY low turnover. In comparison, Sportclips can be very good and an almost as nice of an experience for quite a bit less, but there seems to be a lot of turnover there and you never know who you will get. I love being able to book online and know who is going to be cutting my hair if possible. Weldon allows that with their online booking system. I fully intend to pay full price for this better service once I've used up my Groupon. So, I'm a stickler for my hair, as I'm sure a lot of people are. I've tried a lot of barbershops since I've moved away from my go to barber. I've had decent to horrific haircuts in the past 2-3 years here in Kirkland. This time I think I've found my go to place (finally!) Although a bit more than what I would usually spend, Claudia gets my hair right every single time and to me worth every penny. First time at Weldon even though I've lived in Kirkland for so many years. Reason why I waited so long was because it's a tad more $ than other shops. Since I was going from really long hair (for men) to short, I thought I'd give Weldon a try. My barber was Donna and I'm so glad she knows her way around Asian hair! Every time I get a shorter haircut I look like a kid again but she made judgement call on length and style with little direction and resulted in a very professional looking cut. From offering water to using a straight blade to clean up edging and cutting in a part line to the mints, they do a wonderful job with the details and have me as a happy return customer.
