I've only been coming to Wendy for 10 months and after my last visit I just cannot return. She is too rough and leaves my fingers sore and /or bleeding. She seems to REALLY enjoy inflicting pain on SOME people. Everyone knows how discomforting it is to have acrylic nails removed. She shows no mercy. One time her husband allowed my nails to soak in acetone whole waiting for her to finish up on another client and she was visibly angry with him. The final straw was after my recent visit. Where she attacker my nails so vigorously I thought she would cut me. She plowed my tips off with no regard to my discomfort. What is most troubling is that I had observed Wendy apply acetone and cotton wrapped in aluminum foil to one client who was presumably a celeb while stating "I don't want to hurt you". This client had a broken nail and came in to have it repaired. Now I always tip her generously and wondered if the pseudo celeb was giving Wendy a$50 tip or something but that should not dictate how she approaches a client. We all pay and leave a generous tip. I'm moving on and spend my money elsewhere. read more

I moved to the neighborhood recently and wanted to get my scuzzy nails in order, so I went to Wendy Nails to try them out. As my grandfather said: I've been there twice, my first time and my last time. Things were fine but nothing special until the manicurist started to cut my toenails. She cut down the sides of my big toes, and it hurt! She cut one side so deep that it started to bleed and kept bleeding throughout the rest of the manicure. To add insult to injury, although she tried to stop the bleeding several times, she didn't think when she was using the acetone and rubbing alcohol and squirted them all over my nails, including into the cut that she had made. It burned really badly! If I hadn't had this problem, I probably would have given 3.5, rounded to 4 stars, but scab that I now have hurts and clashes with my color. My old hood is not too far away, so I guess I'll be taking a little drive to my usual spot in the future. read more

This has been my go-to nail salon for over 2 years. The salon itself is clean and well maintained. It is extremely affordable with lots of great color options, both in normal polish and gel. The team is incredibly friendly, professional, and accommodating. I look forward to my monthly visits, as they have grown to know me and my colors of preference. I feel very at home here and wouldn't dream of going to another salon in LA. Plus, most importantly, my nails always look great and the gel lasts at least 3 weeks. I came here with my mom by appointment . It was a late appointment. She did my mom nails first by the time she was finishing all other technicians had left . When she started with me she was already in rush. She was very ruff , not careful , she was ripping old acrylic extension nails from my own nails so hard that some of my own nails were damaged. I even screamed from pain and I can tolerate a lot of pain without any problem . I have been doing acrylic for many years. When I asked her to do a manicure also she said that I don't need it. I was shocked . This was the first time that someone was telling me what I should do or not to do.Anywho when she finished she overcharged me and she was extremely unpleasant and rude. On top of everything when I came home I had three nails fall off and a rest started to come out one by one so by the second week I was already looking for a new technician. Unfortunately, my gel manicure started peeling off just 3days after having it done. 3days ! And I wasn't even doing anything to cause peeling. (All the manicurists were sweet and professional which is why I didn't give this place one star.) A gel manicure is known to be long lasting; $26 for 3days of nice nails is unacceptable, and the way it began peeling off without ANY difficultly proves this was done incorrectly. Half my toenail ripped off and I had plans for the weekend but no time to go to my regular nail salon. This place is walking distance from my job so I decided to try them out. The nail tech applied powder and my toenail looked super natural and you can't even tell. She was also super sweet and wasn't talking smack about me either. I went there once and the service was great. The two ladies that worked on my nails (I think one is called "now") did a very satisfactory job on my mani pedi. But I give this place one only one star because of their inconsistent service and bad management response. The second time I went today another staff worked on my nails: here are the issues: 1) she cut my skin around my 3 nails that one bled and 2 got so close to bleeding that the dead blood showed up. 2) when I pointed out to her, she said "it's your nail problem", for heave's sake, what does even that mean? 3) she was so in rush that skipped cleaning under my nails, when I said that, she hurt me again with going under my nails so aggressively that I kept saying "gentle, gentle please" wish every nail she was working on. 3) once she wanted to recover a scarred nail polish and it was obvious that she should have just redone it but she just patched another tiny polish on the top (at this time I started speaking up) 4) she was sniffling all the time, having cold of something so I might be set not only for infection from all those cuts but a complementary cold. 5) she was so rude after I pointed out the problem. This shouldn't be the experience of a going to get a manicure. I am so in pain from both my thumbs gone skins right now. I asked for the manager (a guy) and told him last time I was very happy with the service and this gone I feel I could do a better job myself. Guess what? He asked who worked on my nails last time? Then he went and found her and came back with the place card and gave it to me and said: sorry about that! Next time before coming in call and book an appointment so the same person as last time is available to work on your nail ( as if I do t have the store phone number already). Nope! I never go back unless I get an infection or a cold or both which I will write a follow up on this. read more

I did not get a service, so I cannot speak about the quality of their work. However, I can say the there is no process for walk ins. (No sign in sheet, numbers, etc.) People that came in after me were taken first. (They did not have an appointment.) I was told there would be a 20 minute wait. No problem, I did not have an appointment. I was just happy they could take me. After 35 minutes it was obvious that I would not be seen for some time. A more annoyingly, no one even acknowledged me. Once I realized it was hopeless, I returned the polish I was holding and walked out. They did not say anything- in fact, I suspect they did not notice. This was very disappointing. I work in the area and I was looking forward to finding a Salon I could use regularly. read more

Hi, It took me a long time to have the courage to write this review. But I know its the right thing to do, and now I'm ready to put this information out there. I was a loyal client of Wendy for over 10 years. I used to go to her other location on Wilshire Blvd. I really loved her and her salon. After Helen left Wendy changed so much. Slowly her salon wasn't as clean anymore, and the other girls she brought to work for her were not as good except for a few. Anyways Wendy and I were very close we even celebrated my Moms birthday in her salon, and I went there for my wedding. But one day I noticed one of my gold bracelets were missing and one of her workers were wearing it. I checked it out before I brought to her attention. I am 100% sure it is mine. My parents embellished the back of it to "mark it as mine". I told Wendy very quietly that this girl (her niece/ cousin) is wearing bracelet and she started screaming at me and calling me a liar in front of all her other clients. She even threatened to call the police on me. I left shocked and completely embarrassed. I didn't know what to do. She still has bracelet that my parents bought for me special from Israel. I am still heartbroken about the loss and what she did to me. I just want you all to know to please be aware. Don't fall asleep, and always check yourself before you leave, and make sure you have everything. By the way I do agree with other reviews here a well. She has become very rough with cuticle removal and sometimes I left bleeding and in a lot of pain. Helen if you are reading this I miss you tons. You were always #1 there! Very disappointed. After a pedicure I still have extra blister skin, paint was around my nails looks look I did this, not a professional job. I asked for gel polish change on my nails and made that clear. Last month, I took a leap into the dipping powder manicure (robins egg blue!) process and I'm hooked!! Wendy did a fantastic job and my mani lasted a month before I accidentally broke off a nail.. my spa pedicures are pure nirvana. This is by far the worst gel manicure I have ever gotten in my five years of getting gel manicures religiously every two-three weeks. I was in the area for a work appointment, looked this place up on yelp, and decided to give it a try. Upon arrival no one greeted me, the store was empty, there were bugs everywhere, and it was dirty. I'm particular about my manicures, so I tell the manicurist what I like as she's doing it, especially since I work in healthcare and wash my hands at least 20 times a day. Therefore I need the manicurist to put the gel polish all the way to the edge of the nail to avoid chipping due to the handwashing. After I insisted twice that she do that, she kept telling me the second coat of polish would cover everything. What this woman was not understanding that if the basecoat isn't completely covering the nail, my nail chips a lot faster. Long story short, not all of my nails were covered with polish, there were bubbles and debris left under the second coat causing bumps in the polish. Worst. Ever. read more

Wendy Nails is a little gem in West Hollywood. Situated right next to Jack n Jill's Too, you can pop in for a manicure and hop next door for a mimosa. The non-massaging chairs at Wendy's are SO comfortable and they have a wide selection of polishes. Wendy gives amazing pedicures ($20) and gives my aching toes extra TLC. They take credit card, but make sure to bring cash for tip. I used their ATM and it says it surcharges $1.50, when actually it took out $4 from my account! Lesson learned.
