Every once in awhile, I will make a pit stop to a fast food restaurant. In this case, I paid a visit to the Citrus Heights, CA "Wendy's". Located directly on Greenback Lane and just east of Sunrise Blvd in the heart of Sunrise Marketplace, this is one of two Wendy's locations to serve Citrus Heights (with the other being on Antelope Rd/I-80). Since I had not been to this location in several years, I figure why not stop by to see if it is as good as I remembered. Parking was relatively easy to find as many of the major businesses are not close to here. I also wanted to add that they drive-thru was fairly easy to navigate with signs directing you where to go. Since I actually enjoy checking out the interior layout while interacting with the staff/employees, I was actually quite impressed with how large and spacious it was. However, during my visit (which was on Sunday 8/2/2026 at around 7:15pm), there was not a single customer dining inside. It actually made me quite sad that it had a sterile look to it; however it was very clean. The only major drawback was that the air conditioner was not working at full capacity which meant a real challenge for everyone working. When I remember Wendy's from my childhood and even into early adulthood, I loved the salad bar with so many endless possibilities to choose from. Unfortunately, those days are long gone. However, their mobile app has made ordering quite simple as many (if not all) fast food establishments have adapted to changes in technology. My order was also as simplistic as they come as I ordered a small chocolate "Frosty" which was offering a $1 promotion during my visit. As soon as my order was placed, my dessert was waiting for me at the front counter area. All in all, service here was good while the inside is actually cozy enough to enjoy your food (with the exception of no A/C). I have been at other various Wendy's locations over the past few years as their food has always been middle-of-the-road; good but not great. Best of all, this particular location has longer hours of operation being open 7 days a week from 6:00am to 1:00am. With that said and done, I am giving the Citrus Heights "Wendy's" on Greenback Lane an average three star rating. read more

Stopped at Wendy's with my husband after taking Avery our youngest to the dentist, because we wanted to give him a little treat. I kept seeing the $1.99 deal for 10 chicken nuggets advertised everywhere, so naturally I thought, "Perfect. Quick, cheap little treat." Except there's a catch. You apparently need a qualifying purchase of $5 or more to get the $1.99 nuggets. That part wasn't nearly as obvious as the giant $1.99 advertisement makes it seem. Once we got there, we figured, okay, no big deal--we'll just grab a couple of drinks so we can qualify. Somehow, two drinks and the nuggets ended up being around $9-$10. And that's where I got irritated, because there was literally a $6-ish mini meal deal that came with nuggets, a drink, a burger AND fries. We could have just bought that and gotten significantly more food for less money. So the lesson here is: don't automatically assume a deal is actually a deal. Read the fine print, look at the other combos, and do the math before you get excited about the giant promotional price. The stop itself was fine, and this isn't really a complaint about the food. We just went in expecting a quick, inexpensive treat for Avery after his dentist appointment, and somehow turned a $1.99 advertised deal into a nearly $10 purchase when there was a better-value option sitting right there. The place was clean the service was decent ( had to wait the full cook time for nuggets ) But ... Definitely left feeling like we got played by the fine print. read more

It came in this morning about 8:45 AM to get, what I think is the finest fast food breakfast sandwich in the history of breakfast: the baconator. I ordered through the app, and unfortunately, there isn't an option to add extra bacon. That's disappointing. This location is always decent on service, speed, and consistency. But that's not what I'm going to talk about today. My friend and I have recently been going to all the burger places in the county to see who has the best burger. We've been rating everything out of 10, with a 5/10 being average. Price: We spent exactly $14 on a Dave's single medium meal with an Oreo brownie frosty. 6/10 Meat: A little dry but had good flavor! 7/10. Bread: Extremely dry and tasted stale. 4/10. Sides: The fries were crispy, salty, and tasted great. 7.5/10 Toppings: Standard burger toppings that tasted good. 6/10. Sauce: N/A for burger sauce. No original burger sauce, just mayo and ketchup. Appearance: 7/10. Good solid appearance, very excited to eat it. Integrity: The tomatoes were slipping out and so were the onions. It was a very saucy burger which is great, but it causes the toppings to fall out. 4/10. Grease: Not greasy. Didn't even taste greasy. 10/10. Original drinks: Frosty with Oreo and brownies. It's very unhealthy for you but man it tastes good. Not even a big sweets fan but I wanted to keep eating it. Big fan of their lemonades that they bring out also. 10/10. Overall 6.8/10. Very happy with Wendy's and it's up there in terms of our ratings. read more

I hate placing orders via drive-thru. I hate it. Today's experience at 12:08 PM is prime example for reasons why I hate the experience. The person taking my order today takes a little while. There's a line piling up behind me. I found errors in what was handed to me. First, they gave me two kid's burgers (so dinky a teacup Chihuahua could inhale in two bites) when I ordered nuggets. I caught those errors and they placed nuggets in the bag. However, I felt pressure to move the fuk along so I didn't check everything. When I arrived home I found: *I was shorted 2 sauce packets. *The 2 kid's milk drinks were absent. Next time, if I ever have to patronize a drive-thru, I don't give AF how many people are waiting. I'm checking my damn order. I called them now only to land directly in voice mail. So I dropped this review from 2 stars to 1 star. read more

Ordered on app, very easy and order was ready by the time I came in. We came by for the Peppermint Frosty and we had a deal for free large fries. The fries were perfect hot and crunchy like you expect them to be. The Peppermint Frosty was tasty and I will be back for another before they go away. Ordered a Triple Bacon Mushroom (No bacon) and a Double Bacon Mushroom. Said no Bacon on the triple, ended up with a double with Bacon.The double ended up being a single. So they got both burgers wrong, both were missing a patty and one had bacon so I couldnt eat it. Its almost like they aren't trying. Just paid $40 for 2 burgers, 2 fries and a desert. Last Wednesday April 01 around 3:30 p.m i bought a baconator meal. the burger patties was dry and the bread that was put on it tasted old. The total of my bill is 29 dollar plus. Cashier is no consideration at all to the elderly, what she did to my mother was terrible . We were begging her to open the restroom since i was already paying the bill. My mom said to the cashier that she might pee on the floor, the cashier replied that if she peed she would just clean it up. Is that right? I walked in to order a Frosty and I was completely ignored. I kept repeating "excuse me" to the staff that clearly saw me and no one acknowledged the fact I was standing there, waiting to order. Someone could have said they're understaffed or that they would be with me in just a moment and given some attention to the customer in front of them. On a whim I stopped at Wendy's on Greenback for breakfast, (instead of my usual C.'s Jr.) I got a sausage/ egg/ cheese biscuit and medium wedge fries. The sausage biscuit was good; fresh, etc. The fries were the color of soot. They must have been cooked in some 3-day old, near-rancid oil. I've always loved Wendy's regular french fries, but these wedge fries were outright nasty/ awful, bad smell and after-taste, etc. And honestly, if an employee cannot keep a two-item order straight, (took 4- 5 tries over the speaker and at the window,) perhaps they shouldn't be working the window? read more

This store is placed in a very convenient location, quick and easy to pull into the drive Thru and out of the parking lot in no time at all. Food is decent quality for fast food. The chicken nuggets and fries are my go to. Always hot and tasty Every visit has been great within the last month or so with the exception of one morning I stopped by early and ordered some potato fries. They were clearly old and most likely served from the batch made the day before. I didn't even eat them they tasted like metal. Besides that I have no complaints. Yesterday evening before a little get together with some friends we stopped in to get my toddler a Kid's Meal to tie her over, for the portion size and price, it was a great deal for all she got! They did forgot her Sweet and Sour Sauce, but I went up to the counter and they gave her a couple packets. My tot enjoyed her Low-Fat Milk, 4-Piece Nuggets, Natural-Cut Fries and Apple Slices. Her meal also came with Exploration Cards, specifically for ages 3 and under, which I appreciated so she could learn words associated with the pictures! I would recommend this location, they have an electric fireplace with nice seating, plenty of healthier options like their salads and Grilled Chicken Wraps and the cashier was both helpful and friendly! read more

My wife and I went there this evening at 5:45 pm to pick up burgers for the family. they were rather busy so we waited and waited. Seven customers were in line no one taking orders and all the crew was in the back with the supervisor. Then a man came in and asked repeatedly for the code to the restroom. The supervisor and employees completely ignored him. They heard his request as did all the customers in line and they just ignored him. I called it to their attention and they said they responded to him, which was an outright lie. We all saw it. I called out to the shift supervisor she avoided my gaze and completely ignored me. I lost my appetite. We walked out and went to Popeyes and got chicken for the family. My family has dined at Wendy's from Hawaii to Sacramento for well over 20 years. I will never step into that particular Wendy's again. The behavior of that crew towards another human being was disgusting. read more

I hate to leave a bad review but I would want to be aware of all the unsanitary things taking place here. 1) too many homeless have access inside 2) cashier that handles money should not be handling food especially if hands are not washed in between transactions 3) witnessesed a homeless man come in with his bottle and go straight to the beverage machine to refill his cup and not one employee said anything to him. After witnessing this in just one visit I told my son we will never be back to this location! This was actually my 2nd visit to this location and each time I saw homeless inside the sitting area lounging. 04/15/2020 This place is the worst!!! So there was a long line today, granted it was lunch and we're in a middle of a pandemic. The drive-thru took about 40mims but that's not the worst part of this story, I get to the Menu/Intercom and this young lady is putting up a sign that says No Credit Cards/Cash Only... Now before my order was even taken, first question was are you paying with cash or credit card? I said originally with a card but whatever, I then proceeded to order them the lady cut me off and said "do you have cash"? Wtf? Why would I continue to order if I didn't have any "cash" on me that was rude! Let's just say if I didn't? Would you have not taken my order? My husband ordered some breakfast sandwiches from here this morning... He ordered two sausage, egg and cheese biscuits with seasoned potatoes. He was only given one sandwich, so he asked why there was only one sandwich. The worker there said "oh, I gave you two.. The potatoes and sandwich are the "buy 2 deal"... which was clearly not because it's supposed to be two sandwiches. So, the worker went back and grabbed another biscuit. As I opened up the biscuits, one had ONLY sausage while the other one was JUST a biscuit with nothing else inside. Unfortunately, we will not be ordering from here again as the service was horrible and our order was messed up completely. On top of that, we weren't even given a receipt. If I could give no stars I would. When it takes you 40 minutes to get fast food from a drive thru it is no longer fast. Great way to make it look like you are not taking too long is to take an order and wait till you clear it before taking the next order. It's bad when you see people backing out of the drive thru but you are stuck. I know the people were working hard and it is up to management and the owners to properly staff to keep wait times down. Long story short: avoid the drive thru, unless you enjoy waiting 30+ min for your food. 32 minutes in the drive thru. At 445pm. Judging by the rest of the reviews, the 32 minute wait I had in the drive thru for 1 order of fries is very on brand for this place. I wish I could've left the drive thru, but it's the kind that traps you in as soon as you pull up (even before you place your order). Help me understand how a 32 minute wait in the drive thru is "fast-food"? Somebody needs to process improve/lean six sigma the heck out of that drive thru ASAP. Kudos to the cashier who heard my kid frantically crying in the car and rushed to get our order of fries, at least she tried to make up for the long wait. If long waits at the drive thru are you thing, go for it.
