Wendy is very informed on all breeds, especially Poodle Mixes. Appointments are easy to make, staff is nice, and the expense is worth it. Our pups especially like the oatmeal facials. read more

I brought my rescue dog to Wendy numerous times and the last time was approximately a year or so ago. The situation still makes me irrate and thought it best I should share. Wendy talks a good talk, but the truth is in her actions and, more importantly, my dog's reaction. Though my dog is cautious by nature, she is not typically afraid. The second time I brought her to Wendy my dog shook with fear. She did not want to go in and fought me to try to get back out the door and to my car. The third time I brought her in she had the exact same reaction. Before I left her, I watch one of Wendy's groomers help lift my dog up on a table. Wendy grabbed the back end and her groomer grabbed my dog's collar. My dog weighs 65 lbs. Serious damagae could have been done. I repeatedly asked that they be gentle and obviously that wasn't heeded. I can only imagine how they handled here when I wasn't there. I will never go back to Wendy's ever again. read more

We've been going to Wendy's for almost ten years and have always had a great experience. During the past year, one of our dogs was very ill and had trouble standing for an extended period of time. Wendy's made sure to take the time to be gentle with her and made her look and feel great. I would definitely recommend Wendy's Doghouse. read more

I used to be a loyal customer of Wendy's for more than 6 years, but not anymore. If something goes wrong, Wendy does not take care of the issue well and also speaks badly about her customers, so I cannot support a business like that. I used to take my dog there about 3 times a year. I would usually schedule with Elise - who is terrific. Wendy's is expensive, but I thought the care my dog received was worth it - until one fateful day. I called for my appointment and either the person answering the phone didn't hear me or ignored my request for Elise. When I showed up on the day of my appt., I found out I was not booked with her (she was only in 1 day a week) - I was booked with John. I decided to go ahead and keep my appt since my dog needed grooming. I let them know that there was a card on my dog - and that she had hip dysplasia. I was told no problem. When I arrived to pick her up I noticed my dog seemed more anxious than usual. I paid (and tipped) and came home. That's when I realized something had gone very wrong. I started noticing that the hair was uneven in many places. The closer I looked the worse it seemed. It was the worst grooming job my dog ever received. I ended up having to correct it. The worst part though was that he must have been very rough with my dog. All she did that night and most of the next day was whine. When she got up later that night she was limping - which she did through the next afternoon (signs that he exasperated her dysplasia). I called Wendy because I was quite upset. She handled it badly. At first she just wanted me to come in to fix the haircut. I had to tell her I was more concerned with the limping. She only offered to give her a complimentary "spa treatment" the next time I came in. I didn't want that - and she was very rude when I told her my dog doesn't like it - asking me if she had "told" me that. As any dog owner knows, we KNOW our dogs, so that was out of line. I wanted a refund but she said that all her groomers rent, but then she didn't want me to contact John when I asked her. She said she would take care of me the next haircut. She was not very apologetic but I decided to book an appt with her anyway. When I went the next time I booked with Wendy fully expecting a no-charge grooming. As it was, she gave me only a small discount. As a business owner (which I am as well), this was an opportunity to correct mistakes and keep a loyal customer. Wendy did neither and handled it so poorly I simply could not go back. Especially when I found out how unprofessional she is with bad-mouthing her customers. read more

I took my small, medium haired dog there mostly for the purpose of having them brush her out really well, since I can't seem to get on top of the shedding on my own. They did a great job with that, it's been 24 hours and my white couch is still clean. However, i don't think I'll take my dog back, for two reasons, the biggest of which is the price. For a 28lb dog, they charged me $49, and I'm not sure that I can see the full value of that price reflected in the work they did on my dog. Second, they mentioned to me that she was upset when they were trimming her nails, and I can see now that they're quite jagged and it appears they cut down to the quick in a few spots. I probably could have done that myself, which defeats the purpose of having an experienced professional do it. Next time I'm going to try the grooming services at Downtown Dogs, where I take her for daycare. They did an excellent job on her nails twice (no behavior problems) and I the staff there is extremely helpful and attentive. read more

Sadly, I will not be going back to Wendy's Doghouse. Normally, the service is super positive and they always get my two poodles in and out with great haircuts. Not today, one of my dogs ( a poodle now has a flat top). Today one of the groomers told me upon arrival that he was already behind. I booked an appointment for both my dogs at the same time. While The girl was talking with me about the grooming, two kenneled dogs were barking and this same women began rapping on the kennel doors for the dogs to be quiet. This made me somewhat uncomfortable because it seemed like she was way too frustrated. I left with the understanding that their might be a slight time difference between my dogs grooming. 2.5 hours later I go to pick them up. I can hear my dogs barking like crazy! They were in a kennel with a towel covering them both up. I asked what happened because this behavior has never happened at Wendy's Doghouse. The girl was rude in manner and appeared annoyed at my questions. Again, I'm concerned about the level of frustration coming from her. Maybe it's time for her to leave the profession as it seems she is burned out. read more

I've had my pomeranian groomed at Wendy's several times, and he always looks great!! With the grooming, they also fill out a "report card" that lets you know if they found dental issues or anything. My dog can be a little anxious, but he loves Wendy's and happily trots into the grooming area. I also like that they give you an appointment time that actually reflects when the grooming starts, so my dog isn't sitting around all day in a kennel. I highly recommend Wendy's doghouse. read more

Wendy seems like the nicest lady & is terrific at selling you her "special" grooming packages. But it is truly scary what goes on there as far as the handling & treatment of the animals left there! i took my 2 fur kids here for a little holiday TLC (yes, we are "those" animal owners, haha.). i haven't had them groomed since we moved to minneapolis, so i didn't know where to turn. im glad i followed the yelp reviews, i really had a pleasant experience and it appears my dogs did as well! wendy is very nice, and i met with the groomer that worked on my dogs and she was sweet as well. both of my dogs are short haired, BUT one sheds horribly. HORRIBLY! i opt'ed to get an upgrade and gave her the de-shedding treatment. she looks and feels amazing! and my black slacks and lint roller are getting a nice break, too. there's a review on here saying the pets get treated poorly, and im not going to lie i was on hyper alert because of that (i figure out of so many good reviews, someone looks a little disgruntled, but....still). my dogs seemed happy and not scarred for life when i picked them up, so im figuring it's all good in the hood. the only reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that a) it was more expensive than i was expecting. shame on me for not getting an exact total before agreeing, it was all a bit rushed and just, yeah. more than i thought. also, b) it wasn't very clean looking. everything was fine and functional, but it was a little more run down looking than my previous groomers. all in all we will be back. read more

My dog's cut looks great and we have been to Wendy's twice. Her coat requires frequent grooming and Wendy's makes her fur feel silky, BUT this last time I took her in, she walked out with such bad "clipper itch" that I had to take her to the vet. The price was $67 to groom plus tip ($80.00!!! -.that's more than I pay for my own hair). Couple that with what I just paid at the vet and we're talking almost $160. I truly do love my dog, but...that's insane. I don't want to end up with a vet trip after a grooming job so I will not be going back to Wendy's. read more

I have two golden retrievers that I am very protective of. After a couple bad experiences with our local groomer we'd begun to look other places. Wendy's was amazing. I was able to get my dogs in the next day and they treated them wonderfully. They look and smell great and came back with big smiles and beautiful bandanas! They even provided a report card so I could know how they did during their session and which products were used. I'll be back! read more

We went here based on a recommendation. Not sure what the deal is, but the groomer that checked us in hardly listened to our request. When we saw our dog, his nose was shaved to bare skin, while the rest was not what we asked for. We were told it could be fixed for a "discounted" rate. We then called and thought it would be best to discuss with a manager/owner in a polite fashion. The gal answering said "she's not here" and then hung up. This is why this is being posted today. With a number of groomers, it looks like you take your chances and if things go bad, don't expect to taken care of. Amazing! read more

We brought our dog to Wendy's a few times. The last time we brought him in the nicked him with a razor and a day later we had to bring him to the Veterinarian as it caused an abscess in his neck area. The poor thing had a drain in his neck for days and required daily bandage changes and medication. When called to let them know we were bringing him to the vet and report what happened, they showed no care for his well being what so ever. So after the grooming bill and the multiple daily trips to the Veterinarian it cost well over $400. I can always forgive and forget mistakes, but the sheer lack of care for his well being was shocking. They never called to see how he was doing, they never offered to help pay for the vet care or even the botched grooming job. Completely rude and irresponsible. I will NEVER go back to this place and will be sure to inform all of my friends about this terrible place. read more

Sadly, we must give Wendy's Dog House a Poor Rating. We asked for a brush, bath and dry for our two dogs, a black golden retriever and a Jack Russell-Basenji mix and a foot fur trim for our retriever. We specified no cutting on either dog only what we requested. When we picked up the dogs our adult golden was missing all feathers on her tail, legs, and ears, her belly had been shaped and she had a 12" diameter patch of ragged sanitary cuts (anal and genital area shaving). Our little guy, with short fur to begin with, had also been given a sanitary cut. We were charged $119 for the two with no explanation as to the breakdown. We spoke with the owner by phone the same day and the following day (she had not been in the shop when we were). She wanted us to bring the dogs back. We said absolutely not but offered to immediately forward digital photos so she could investigate. We took photos including one using a ruler to show the extent of the sanitary cut on our retriever, and we had week old "before" pictures for comparison - but she said she has no fax, email or computer. She did offer gratis treatment in the future which we declined. The baths were great, their fur is shiny and silky, too bad they didn't leave it at that ... now we'll wait for their fur to grow back in and hope they don't get infections from the unwanted, unneeded, and unrequested "sanitary cuts." read more
