It's been a while since I had a frosty and they changed the recipe. It's more like an ice rage. It sucks. Don't ever order one again.

Chicken sandwich hot as were fries. Liked. Frosty tasted different than the lower 48. Chocolate. All Asian were on it!

Good to see I'm not the only one, at least I know I'm not crazy. I went to Wendy's after seeing the movie Project Hail Mary at the theater before walking home (it was a pretty good movie by the way). I know I should have been wiser, I have not always had the best experiences with Wendy's here in Alaska, but it was the closest place, and I just wanted a place to wind down a little before the walk back. Well, the place didn't feel hospitable from the start, it was practically dead there, and when I stepped in, nobody said anything to me or even acknowledged my existence, like everyone on staff had specifically been told to ignore people when they walk in. I understand that they might be busy, preparing call-in orders or something like that, but a simple, "Hi there, we'll be with you in a minute" would've been nice. I mean, they did give me that, after I had already been standing there a few minutes. When it finally came time to order, I specified my order, saying I wanted a small, because I've had problems with that in the past. "Large?" They asked, clarifying. I told them small again. They rung me up, and the price on the screen said 50 cents more than what was on the menu. I figured that maybe they had forgotten to update the menu again, which I had previously canceled an order at the North Pole Wendy's before over, but I wasn't really in the mood to argue about an extra 50 cents today. My card didn't even scan right away, so I should've just walked out then, but against my better judgement, I didn't. Well, I got the receipt, and it said I ordered large. I told the person who rung me up, and he said he couldn't hear me through my mask. I wear a mask in public out of respect for my Mom for health reasons, and all in all, it should not even be an issue, because if you go to Japan, people wear them all the time, it literally has nothing to do with politics. Okay, fine, maybe he didn't hear me (which I really doubt, due to the reoccurring theme I've had at this Wendy's with them upcharging me), he could've simply said, "Sorry about that, let me fix it for you." But instead he had to make it an issue with my mask like I had done something irreparably wrong by wearing it. So, I got a little upset, I said I didn't want the meal and stormed out, flicking away the cup. I know maybe I had gotten a little bit more worked up than I should have, but being ripped off at this location has been a reoccurring theme. Outside, I decided that I really didn't like the idea of letting them rip me off more by letting them throw away the food I had paid for, so I turned around and went back in, trying to be as respectful as possible, I asked for a refund, offering to pay for the drink because it only seemed fair since I technically had wasted their cup by knocking it aside. He said he was not going to because of my attitude, storming out and cursing like that. I have never cursed in my entire life, cursing is one of my greatest irrational fears, and even the thought of it leads me into a near panic attack. Then he went on about my mask again. They did make my food, but at this point, I didn't really want it. I left again. But again, I didn't want didn't want them to throw it out when I had paid for it, so I went in one last time and got it. The guy wished me good day, and I wished him good day back, I didn't want to let him turn me into the irrational stupid angry customer that he had already decided I was. He told me he hopes I don't come back, and you know what, I hope I don't. I hope nobody comes back. I hope they close down and leave the place an empty lot like the one in North Pole. Because there is a reason people don't go there anymore. I hate to leave places in bad terms, which is perhaps a major reason I went there today in the first place, but the way they treat people, from overcharging them to complete disrespect, this is not okay. I'll admit that maybe I did not handle things in the best way, I'm not very good at interacting with people on the best of times, but when the whole environment carries with it an undertone of hostility and condescension, there comes a point when it's hard to keep quiet anymore. I've let myself be ripped off before, I understand there may be points of misunderstanding, and I know I don't always have the communication skills to help clear things up, but today was just too much. I miss the days when Wendy's was a nice place to go, back in Montana and California, and many other places I've been, but whoever is running these Wendy's in Alaska, they need to go. read more

I get that it's Wendy's, not a fancy bistro, but even a simple drive-thru meal shouldn't have anything wrong with it. Cons: This time they accepted a card but had run out of medium and large size soda cups. The #6 spicy chicken sandwich was a little dry, but spicy. We also only received 2 straws for 3 drinks. Pros: The pumpkin spice frosty was *amazing*. It tasted like pumpkin pie with ice cream all in one drink. The fries were salted well, but could've been bigger and hotter. Service lady working the window was friendly enough. I wish they'd ask if we want sauce before we drive away. You have to ask for sauce even ketchup or you won't get it in your bag. Why be so stingy with the sauce? Anyway. I'd go back to see if the chili (with hot oil) is still good; it was my favorite long ago. Rudest customer service I've ever had. Not only was the guy taking my order just an absolute jerk,when talking to me through the drive box but when I got to the window he stated he thought he was talking to a woman and was I sure I "wasn't a woman". They obviously have no standards of education or tact when hiring for this deplorable location. I told him no in-fact I was not a woman, so he got this other cashier to come over and in his words "look he sounds like a b!tch". Wendy's is my favorite fast food restaurant that began when Dave brought out his juicy burgers. They were impossible to eat without getting juices all over your hands and mouth. That fresh meat and his cooking technique made them taste wonderful before the grease is bad for you phase. Grease is a necessary evil for almost all meats to have a natural flavor. If you don't believe me just take a piece of your favorite steak and boil it in plain water and eat it. I would rather boil my leather shoes for soup! Wendy's is clean with friendly staff that are as efficient as the customer crowd will allow. The food is well prepared and tasty with a variety today that has added new items to change with our concerns for healthy eating. The burgers are still very good but with less grease. My favorite meal is Dave's Chili. I love chili and eat it many times when I find it in restaurants. I always ask if the cook made it or if it came out of a can or freezer. I may still order it but I want to know if they tell me truth. I know Wendy's is mass produced and shipped to all their outlets. It must be for it is consistently the same in every restaurant in the USA and CA that I have been in. It tastes homemade with a juicy consistency that I love. You can taste the fresh burger, two types of beans and tomato in it. If you have it with cheese and onions it perfect. I do know that chili is a very regional dish with devout followers in each region. My growth years on the upper East Coast favored Chili made like Wendy's and could even be my Moms recipe. Really bad service, doesn't care about costumers. Went in to doordash and they told me I had to wait til the people who were just ordering were done ordering and getting there food. Every time I'm here for an order it's a 30 min or more wait and there is other Doordashers waiting . They look like they don't have anything organized and is so slow on purpose . Corporate needs to come in the store to see how bad they treat everyone and how they handles things . TERRIBLE!!!!!!! 0/10 recommend! The frosty machine is always supposedly out. At first I thought maybe it was because my husband and I would go to late (around 5-6pm) so we'd even try early and again we'd be hit with the same old thing. Any time the frosty machine was up they'd only have one flavor as if they just do one flavor a day and pick and choose when they'd want to put the Mach one up or not. Wish I could give negative stars. Google and the Wendy's website both say that the store is open for dine in and take out. I drove by and saw a very long line so I ordered using the Wendy's website and sat in the parking lot for the alloted ten minute wait. When I went to get my food the door had a hand written note on it declaring that the dining room is closed and a store employee told me I had to wait in the still very long drive through line to pick up my takeout order. Why say you are open for dine in and take out when you are not? Why refuse to just hand me my already paid for food? I tried calling the store and it went to voice-mail four times. Update: it took 45 minutes for me to get half of my order. Honestly I haven't even checked to see if the food I did get is correct. I don't even care. What they gave me at first definitely wasn't mine. I tried to decline my food and get a refund. The manager was polite but explained I could not get a refund because I prepaid online. She told me they don't make takeout orders until the customer arrives at the drive through. Excuse me, but what's the point of ordering in advance if they just wait until you arrive? The Wendy's website and email I recieved told me the time to arrive and that my food would be hot and ready at the counter. I paid $20 bucks for cold stale fries and what may or may not be some of the food I ordered. At least the frosty is hard to get wrong. They offered me a free meal next time I "come in" but there are about 10 other places I could have gotten a burger in town and I can't think of a reason to ever go back to this Wendy's. Frostbite Foods on old Steese will make you a much better restaurant burger for not much more money and in less than half the time. Blue roof makes a great burger too. In a hurry try Macdonalds on Geist or Sonics near Walmart. There's an Arby's going in the Safeway West parking lot... not a burger but at least it's fast. My biggest concern is the unprofessional behavior by the female native "manager" who refused to give me her name when asked. I kindly stated I ordered prior to arriving to the store via mobile app and selected drive thru pick up. I have small children with me that I would like my food via drive thru it's 15 degrees outside. I try to always order ahead to make it easier on my time ordering as well as staff at restaurantsz She said you want your food them come inside, I said can yall bring it out to me? She said no come inside and get out of my line several times in an aggressive tone. I tried to talk with her calmly and literally faced with aggressive behavior. I then said ma'am he is standing behind you with my order, you could see her unprofessionalism and aggressiveness in tone of voice and choice of words. I was looking for corporate number to reach out and asked for her name. As I was handed my order, I said thank you to the staff who was just standing there looking like this is unnecessary in the way she was acting. I did remind her that how she was treating a customer was not kind at all. Upon leaving she yelled "white bitch". I felt discriminated against in this moment and treated terrible as a customer!! If she treated a customer this way, there is no telling how she treats her employees. I will not return to this store. As far as the food goes, my order was not correct all sandwiches has pickles where pickles were not ordered nor apart of the item as well as not receiving the correct sandwiches. My son who has a dairy and wheat allergy his burger was not done correctly when I ordered it right in the app and removed the items he could not have. Again, absolutely not at all how a business should be ran! When I had to have items corrected for meal only one I was worried about was my son's food, there was a younger gentleman who was respectful and kind came up to me and said ma'am is something wrong with your food I was like yes and explained it. Nobody is probably going to go to a Wendy's based on a YELP score but I like to give credit where it's due. The good: The cashiers legitimately try to be courteous. They have a large lunch rush but usually aren't overly stressed out. The eating area has always felt clean and orderly, even when there are freeloaders in there just abusing the WiFi. For ketchup, it's the actual dispenser instead of those awful teeny ketchup packets. Large Chili, 3.99! Where can you get a wholesome meal in Fairbanks for that price? Bacon and cheese fries too can make a whole meal for less than $4. The bad: This Wendy's does get busy at lunch and dinner. But I've never felt the wait was unreasonable. There's a reason the average rating for everybody who has reviewed this restaurant is less than two stars. This place is a joke. They never have enough people there so it is a complete shit show. Even when they do have enough people the average IQ of these people must be below 20. The things that they screw up are unbelievable. I've arrived at 5 PM, in the past, which is typically the start of dinner rush, and they don't have baked potatoes. Oh don't get me wrong they have them, they just don't have any prepared. You will usually find yourself waiting at least 10 minutes, possibly 15 minutes, for what it's supposed to be fast food Just this week alone They have run out of the following items: barbecue dipping sauce, cupholders for carrying more than one drink, packets of ketchup, potatoes, and french fries. First of all, they don't sell what they advertise. The new Southwest Chicken salad is not available for evening meal because they only make 6 to 8 salads for lunch time crowd. The salad shows fresh cut avocado but now is being served with a slab of guacamole. My last salad only had a 1/2 teaspoon of guacamole or avocado. Really dispointing when this is supposed to be an avocado salad. Multiple times the frostee machine isn't working. The fries used be the best in town, but now the oil tastes old, and they are always cold. First, the lobby and counter were filthy. I would have left then, but the kids really wanted Wendy's. Next, my cashier spoke English very poorly, making communication difficult. Adding to the communication issues were 4 female staff members standing behind the counter chattering in Bulgarian (I asked!) and mocking the customers. They were out of baked potatoes. I had to correct her while ordering several times. When they were getting our beverages I discovered we'd been charged for beverages we never ordered. Then they were out of Frosties. The gaggle of gossipers behind the counter were escalating, and there was another customer having issues with her order to whom they were very rude. As the staff member filling our order suddenly forgot all her English because I wanted a refund on the beverages we didn't order, I gave up and demanded my money back. As the manager came to refund my purchase the gossiping staff members became unruly and I commented how rude it was to discuss customers in front of them, even in another language. I could tell that the lead at the front counter was doing her best to stay organized and juggle outgoing and incoming orders, but the team in the kitchen are really having a hard time making this a "fast" food place. I get a temporary shortage, but this is ridiculous and smacks of social engineering. It's the only Wendy's in Fairbanks what can you expect?! Yes, the line is always long even after lunch but lunch time varies for different jobs. I gave them 4 out of 5 stars because most of the time I come there I am not disappointed and they don't mess up my order. That is much appreciated considering how long I usually wait when I come. If you're in a hurry this may not be the best option. I walked to this location and was denied service for not being in a motor vehicle. I could understand if it was due to Covid-19 restrictions, but no one else had on their masks and the other customers kept their windows down the whole time. There was no barrier between them and the workers as the drive-thru window was also open the whole time. Nonetheless, I accepted things for what they were and walked away. I ended up ordering through an app instead. They messed up my order, and since it took an hour to get it in the first place, I was upset. All other food besides what they messed up was delicious. They always, always get your order wrong every time. I have ordered a couple times from Door dash from them every time my order is wrong and it's usually the whole order. I usually get 2 kids meals with chicken nuggets, apples, and milk both orders had fries not apples because wanted something that might be healthier for the kids in the meal. Then I ordered my older son 10 piece nuggets meal well didn't come with 10 more like 8. My meal I wanted a grilled chicken and it was deep fried and breaded and wanted the chicken that had the avocado it also didn't have the avocados on it. My order weeks before that was wrong every order something was either missing or something I didn't order. Before the door dash and would go pick it up myself they still would get things wrong or not have any cups for drinks. Don't go here unless you want your order wrong every time. Drive through line was ridiculous but we waited it out anyway. One worker came out to rip two others that were out smoking a new one while we were sitting there in line. A number of cars finally gave up and left (as we should have). When we finally did get to the window, the cashier had some kind of nasty stuff on his arm. Instead of getting our food together they loudly discussed how they were having issues with other workers. When we did get our food we just wanted to get out of there so we didn't check our order.
