Breakfast Sampler with pancakes
Peter P.

A really solid basic diner type spot. The service here is a bit slower but friendly and welcoming. The prices were super reasonable. I got a basic breakfast and it was good. Its a small local joint so temper your expectation but for what it is, a small local diner type spot it was good.

Awful, they charged me 30$ for chicken and waffles and theres is no syrup drizzle how they say or any syrup that comes with it at all, honestly no difference from school lunch.(picture down below)

Wow! Highly recommend this restaurant when you're in the city of Fairbanks. We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The place was bustling and the restaurant, like most, were short staffed. It took noticeably long to get our drinks, (mimosa and sprite) then longer to get our order in, but man, the food did not disappoint and it made everything else, worth it. I ordered the biscuit and gravy meal. It was the best I've had in cost, presentation, and flavor. They even had my sons safe food (chicken tendy's) available to order all day. The restaurant is "first come, first served," "seat yourself," style. Plenty of booths and low tables. When you are done, you're expected to stand in line while the staff take turns cashing folks out. The employees of this restaurant work hard.

The servers are nice I didn't have any food cause I ate somewhere else but it's the perfect level of noise that it's not annoying but also not calming but I like it

-serve's alcohol (has mimosas!!!) -plenty of parking -seat yourself -fast service (very nice) -kind of pricey for a breakfast spot (paid almost $100 for 2 ppl, but I did get the steak and eggs) -ambiance was loud, restrooms were decent

Half eaten chicken and waffles

Service | Chicken & Waffles | Coffee Service - We waited 11 minutes for our waiter to give us menus or water after sitting down. This started the meal off on a bad note. However, after that initial wait, our waiter was great. Chicken and Waffles - I had the chicken & waffles. It is a traditional Belgian waffle with three chicken strips that are moderate in size. The chicken-to-waffle ratio is probably 4:5. It came with syrup and a little whipped cream on the waffle. Overall, the meal was filling but nothing special. Solid meal, and I'd get it again. But, not so good that I have to recommend it over all the other options. Coffee - They have bottomless coffee and are pretty generous with their pours. They come with a standard assortment of creamers and sugars. Therefore, I highly recommend getting coffee with your meal. Why not 5 stars: - We waited 11 minutes before we received a menu or water. The restaurant has you seat yourself, and they have a sign that says, "please be patient. We are understaffed." But waiting 11 minutes is a bit excessive. Once we had our waiter - he was great. But, that initial wait dropped a star. Pro Tip: They have a lot of parking. So, no need to worry about adding time. Pro Tip: Be aware of going on Sundays. It is a very popular brunch spot. Also, it is very popular on Saturdays because it is next to Costco.

Over easy means runny egg whites we were told after getting our meals. Service wasn't great. They do have people topping off coffee though so that helped. The sausage was good. The rest was ok enough to avoid 1 star. The prices were very high. They have you block kitchen traffic while waiting to pay the cashier. I wish we'd eaten at McDonald's. Coffee would've been better.

The service was good. The food was edible, but caused gastrointestinal distress. The ambience was something that I will never experience again. Still trying to figure out why the restaurant is named The Bakery Restaurant as none of the bakery items are homemade.

I ended up getting some tacos and my husband got a sandwich. Both of them had really good flavor. Could tell that a lot of ingredients are made in house. We really enjoyed the glass roof as the snow was just starting to melt. It was kind of cool like we were in a half melted igloo. I would definitely put it on my list if you are gluten-free.

Landed on the BLT with salmon. The BLT actually came with a croissant as the bread, so it made it very easy to eat. Lots of bacon and the salmon went really well with the sandwich. Fries here are great too! Staff here are great! Since we came here near closing time, they actually offered us some of their leftover soup since it would have been tossed out. Definitely hate wasting food, so that offer was accepted very quickly. I didn't realize until after leaving why Blue Roof Bistro has its name. It's because...the roof is blue heh. Either way, worth the visit.

To start, I am a certified food snob, especially being from Louisiana. I have learned that truly phenomenal food is a luxury in some places... Fairbanks being one. This place however, everytime I have eaten here I've been brought to another world. The flavors & seasonings are absolute perfection, the portion sizes are big enough you can experience it twice, & the price is just right. It was so good I was willing to bet the cook was a fellow southerner, but it turns out he just really has a talent on the grill & it SHOWS! I do not think these people could make bad food even if they tried. I was a bit nervous about the Marley Fries because I'm not toooo big on anything with mayo... but my... they are to DIE for!! The husband & wife duo that owns & operates this place are absolute gems. They are insanely kind, caring, & just down to earth. They are just as warm & soulful as the food they serve. Overall, if you skip out on this place, you'll regret it. You cannot go wrong with anything on their menu!!

When we arrived, we found out that you'd need a reservation to dine in the main dining hall, so we ended up going to the Saloon side where we had to find our own seats. We sat near the pool table, and the chairs were super unstable. The staff were fine but clearly seemed busy and understaffed. It took a long time for them to bring us water and take our order. I tried flagging the waitress 2-3 times when she was passing by and felt very ignored especially as I've made eye contact with her a few times. We ended up ordering the fried seafood combo and the seafood chowder, and it ended up taking at least 20min to come out (even the soup). The dishes were all very salty and definitely needed a lot of water to go with the food. Overall, definitely not a place to go before a flight since you might not be able to get in and out very quickly, and the food was really just alright for the price. Perhaps the main dining room experience would be better but I still wouldn't recommend it given the food quality and service.

I asked her which she preferred between 2 items and instead of giving me her opinion, she told me we're going with the 1st one because I said it 1st. She also seemed annoyed when she came to give me the hot sauce I asked for. The other server was cleaning the table next to me and asked me if I wanted the hot sauce before she put it away. I actually thought my server was going to grab it from that table to give to me, thought that'd be more efficient, but I guess she needed to walk away and do other things 1st before bringing me hot sauce. -C. I'm surprised that a bread item (was really hoping for a biscuit) didn't come with this dish for being almost $30. - Cajun salmon Benedict: delicious! I thought the salmon was overcooked but it was perfect! Hollandaise sauce was delicious. Not sure how it's Cajun though. The marinated tomatoes were tasty too! I would eat them on their own! Yum!

The portions are not that big for the price. The sandwiches do not come with a side which is noted on the menu, but the sides are pricy to add on. The buffalo chicken wrap tasted good but the crispy chicken wasn't crispy and the fries I added were limp. Really wished I could have tried the chicken pot pie. In all, it was ok, went in with much higher expectations which left me very underwhelmed.

I asked if one skillet could be wiped down so I could safely order, but they weren't able to accommodate that (it also wasn't very busy at the time, which is why I asked). Because of this, I decided not to risk ordering a crepe. I did end up getting the hot chocolate, which was actually excellent. It was really well balanced, rich, and chocolatey without being overly sweet. Everyone else in my group ordered crepes and loved them, so it's clear the food is good. I just wish there was a bit more flexibility around cross-contact for people ordering vegan options or with dietary restrictions. Based on my personal experience, I would lean toward a 2, but since others really enjoyed their crepes and the hot chocolate was great, it feels fair to land on a 3 for my rating.
