Second time I've been to the Bakery, and I do have to say they did redeem themselves. While it was a packed house, the kitchen and staff worked hard to get the food out table by table. Warning if you go during peak hours it will be a wait, but the food was worth the wait. There were no complaints about the food from family visiting out of town. The menu felt a little like a Perkins from back in the day. Plenty of variety for everyone, including all day breakfast. The service was quick and pleasant. Multiple folks checked in to keep happy. Unfortunately, my water glass was disgustingly dirty. That was fixed with a smile. read more

Wow! Highly recommend this restaurant when you're in the city of Fairbanks. We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday morning. The place was bustling and the restaurant, like most, were short staffed. It took noticeably long to get our drinks, (mimosa and sprite) then longer to get our order in, but man, the food did not disappoint and it made everything else, worth it. I ordered the biscuit and gravy meal. It was the best I've had in cost, presentation, and flavor. They even had my sons safe food (chicken tendy's) available to order all day. The restaurant is "first come, first served," "seat yourself," style. Plenty of booths and low tables. When you are done, you're expected to stand in line while the staff take turns cashing folks out. The employees of this restaurant work hard. read more

Felt like a good-sized classic diner, down to the vinyl booths and wood tones. Service was solid, the french toast with berries was exactly as expected, although the over-medium eggs I came out were over-easy instead. And it's always fun to have reindeer sausage as a tourist. However, after that initial wait, our waiter was great. Chicken and Waffles - I had the chicken & waffles. It is a traditional Belgian waffle with three chicken strips that are moderate in size. The chicken-to-waffle ratio is probably 4:5. It came with syrup and a little whipped cream on the waffle. Overall, the meal was filling but nothing special. Solid meal, and I'd get it again. But, not so good that I have to recommend it over all the other options. Coffee - They have bottomless coffee and are pretty generous with their pours. They come with a standard assortment of creamers and sugars. Therefore, I highly recommend getting coffee with your meal. Why not 5 stars: - We waited 11 minutes before we received a menu or water. The restaurant has you seat yourself, and they have a sign that says, "please be patient. We are understaffed." But waiting 11 minutes is a bit excessive. Once we had our waiter - he was great. But, that initial wait dropped a star. Pro Tip: They have a lot of parking. So, no need to worry about adding time. Pro Tip: Be aware of going on Sundays. It is a very popular brunch spot. Over easy means runny egg whites we were told after getting our meals. Service wasn't great. They do have people topping off coffee though so that helped. The sausage was good. The rest was ok enough to avoid 1 star. The prices were very high. They have you block kitchen traffic while waiting to pay the cashier. I wish we'd eaten at McDonald's. The truth: We had read some of the reviews before entering the restaurant and still went in anyway. We are here at 10 am, It's like a diner, busy. Bae got chicken fried steak and eggs, came with hash browns and toast. She said was okay good. I got the French dip and fries. I thought it was pretty good. We both got coffee even after reading the reviews about the coffee being bad, watery. We both agree coffee was horrible really watery like they use the same grounds all day lol. First of all, the food was fine. The ambiance was fine, as well. The service was not fine, and I was overcharged. Just getting the waitress to stop by my table was a 10-minute wait. Once I ordered, the food came reasonably fast (15-minutes). Eating took me about 15-minutes. I spent the next 20 minutes trying to get the server's attention, but she wouldn't even make eye contact with me. After she took payment from the table next to me, I (politely) chased her down, telling her I had to pay so that I wouldn't be late getting back to work. I paid with a credit card on her mobile card reader. After I paid, she immediately pushed "No Receipt". I should have insisted on a receipt, because, sure enough, my credit card shows I was charged $12 more than the total. I've been going to the Bakery restaurant since the 1990's, when it was across the street. I will never set foot in this restaurant again. read more

The weight staff was excellent! You'll never have an empty cup of coffee for sure! Now with that said... there is nothing special about their breakfasts. My eggs were totally under cooked for the over medium that i ordered and the hash browns had been cooked in rancid oil. They were inedible! I told our waitress and she just seemed shocked at what i said but didn't offer to remove the $2 (according to the menu) the potatoes cost. We arrived around 11:30am, and told we could sit anywhere. A person walked up to us, gave us menus, and asked if we wanted coffee...and then she left. Approximately 15 min later a server came up to us and said "I can take your order". We told her our orders and waited approx 20-25 min before she returned with our food (which was cold). She did not return to ask how everything was or if we needed anything. She passed by our table several times before dropping off our check. We were ready to pay immediately, but she never returned. We finally left cash for the exact amount, got up and left. I understand that she was busy, but at least acknowledge us. Food was marginal. So sad :( We will not be returning. read more

I came here knowing exactly what this place was going to be like, delicious quick cheap diner food and nothing crazy, except it was severely lacking in the quick department. 1) It literally took them over an hour to make a chicken wrap & turkey club sandwich with ingredients that probably came from the freezer/fridge section at Costco. Not hating on Costco, but I just don't understand why it took so long to make something super simple. 2) This place was packed and just gave off grimy/musky vibes and the bathrooms smelled/ had no paper towels and they were all over the floor. I also didn't see any of the staff wipe down any of the condiments. The only positive thing I have to say about this place is that it's cheap and the wait staff are so sweet, that's it. Came here on Labor day and this place was really busy. There was a sign at the front door that says for the customers to seat themselves. We were actually lucky enough a large table was available for our group of 6. I think we sat for about 10 min and someone brought some water out. Another 10-15 min later. Someone asked if we wanted coffee. About a half hour after arrival we finally got our order taken. And that took about another half hour til we actually got our food. I had ordered the country fried steak and eggs breakfast with a pancake. The steak seemed over cooked and hard. The hash browns were not that good. Eggs were partially raw ( supposed to be scrambled ) The pancake was probably the better part of that breakfast. The Bakery Restaurant does good on most breakfast items. The sourdough pancakes are very good and FBX needs these since the favorite...Sam's sourdough cafe closed. Never had a problem with anything at the Bakery until last Saturday when I ordered the traditional Eggs Benedict, The English muffin wasn't toasted and instead of Canadian Bacon thu used lunch meat ham. I couldn't finish it and it has been a long time since I left food on my plate. Never again but yeah...I will have sourdough anytime. read more

1st timer in new location. To me, it looks exactly the same inside as it used to as Food Factory. Seems like a million items on the menu, mostly brunch type things: breakfast burritos, pancakes, omelettes, waffles, skillets, Benedict's, etc. I tried a California Benedict with spinach, avocado & bacon. The avocado was sliced very thin, over ripe with brown veins running thru each slice. The hollandaise sauce was also quite thin, and broken. I'd wished it was more rich and creamy. The bacon was actually bacon bits, was too chewy, and didn't taste housemade. No garnish on plate, or on top eggs. The crispy hash brown on the side was very good, tasted like they fried it in bacon fat. My Dad really enjoyed his Chorizo stuffed omelette. Servers were clean & friendly, coffee refills fast. For 2 plates and 2 coffees we paid about $40. Little expensive in my opinion. In terms of what's available in Fairbanks, this is a good spot for a no-frills breakfast. read more

Came here on a Monday since most brunch places were closed. It's an older establishment with your typical diner food. There are quite a few options, so there's something for everyone here. I ended up getting a veggie scrambled skillet along with a sourdough pancake and coffee. The veggie scramble was ok. The best thing from that dish were the crispy potatoes. It lacked major flavor so I was eating it with a lot of ketchup and hot sauce to help it out. However the sourdough pancake was on point! Make sure to get the pancake or waffle which are both amazing. I will say they're on top of filling your coffee so no need to worry that you'll be flagging someone for a refill. Although the food turned out alright, the place could use a solid cleaning and new utensils which have seen better days. Service is subpar. read more
