    Pulled pork sandwich

We went when they were having their rib special. Such a great value! Our waitress said it's actually a loss leader. Whelp they made up some of that money on the corn cob I ordered. I thought I'd get at least a whole cob for $6 but I got a half cob! It also wasn't tasty. So don't order that expensive corn! But everything else was delicious and we left full with food to go! I really enjoyed the burnt ends I got. The collared greens were a good side, very flavorful and tender.

Voted the best bbq in Fairbanks. For my taste the food was average but I can definitely understand why people enjoy it: the atmosphere. Our server did her job well and even brought some laugh to the table. Personally, I enjoy my burnt ends a little burnt but the tender meat was a nice flavor. Everything seemed to enjoy their meals. Prices were decent and the wide variety on the menu is worth exploring.

So this place is way bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. But can I just say the main attraction is the food. If you are looking for a good bbq this is the spot! We ordered the bbq pulled pork sandwich and it did not disappoint!! I mean literally the best pulled pork I've had in a long time!! And make sure you ask for alllll their sauces they have 4 and it just adds a burst of flavor. I extremely liked the spicy hot bbq! Had a tinge of sweetness. But so very delicious! And their fries!! Omg soooo good. And it's because of the seasoning That they put on them. I mean it's just fries but dang it just hit the spot!! I can't wait to go back and try their other choices!! Bartender was awesome too boot made a great drink and was incredibly friendly.

First, total disclosure. I'm from Texas and know my BBQ. Second, I've never seen BBQ spelled BarB-Q. Who does this? Is this a thing? I've never seen it. I was and still am totally stumped here. Service was decent, not amazing but there was a large group of us who came in, all at once. Our waitress was friendly and checked on us every now and then. We ordered burnt ends which, for me, weren't burnt at all and not likely from the end of the piece of meat. Tasty but I've def had burnt ends and these weren't those. I was looking forward to the crispy ends, but alas not this time. My group ordered burgers as they had sold out of several meats and just didn't have many options. Again, large parties may have affected this. No one finished their plates and we all sampled one another's burgers. I would have loved crispier fries and okra. Overall, nothing was out of this world but it wasn't horrible either. Seasoning was missing for me and I prefer not to have to add lots of sauce to add flavor. On the other hand, I was happy to have sauce options and used these to spice up the meat. I'm not sure we'd return, even as much as we love bar-b-que.

My friend and I were visiting the area and were looking for someplace for lunch. We found this place online and decided we wanted to check it out. We got in a few mins after they opened and were immediately seated right away. They answered our questions and ordered the brisket plate with come with two sides of my choice and Texas toast. My friend got the cowboy sundae which is two pieces of Texas toast, meat of her choice topped with baked beans and cole slaw. After 5 mins our food came and it was amazing. My brisket was so tender I could cut it easily with a knife. My two sides were rice and beans and cole slaw. They were both good too. The cole slaw came with the right amount of tangy dressing and the rice and beans cut the fattiness of the brisket. Overall we were impressed by how good it was and left feeling stuffed and happy.

I enjoy an outing of eating BBQ because I never cook this at home. The place looked promising because it was busy even for a cold winter night. The waitress recommended the pulled pork sandwich, coleslaw, baked beans, and mac n' cheese. We received our order and it was pretty good but the food was luke warm and even my sandwich bun was refrigerator cold. I was hungry and I didn't say anything to the waitress but it was a disappointing dinner.

The brisket is delicious. The Texas toast, almost burned on one side and untouched on the other, delicious, the various bbq sauces delightful, the space clean, and the staff efficient and friendly. The collard greens were soggy, with an undefinable space, and no clear flavor or texture. You definitely want to see what drew the attention of the cooking show about diners, drive-in, and dives that focused on the brisket, so it's with the trip, especially if the turkey is equally well-prepared.

Big Daddy's is the perfect place to take my Japanese coworker. The idea of BBQ places in Osaka is a plate of raw meat and a propane griddled. You cook your own stuff and they really dig it and almost feel like Americans. I think Big Daddy's ruined it for my buddy. Ginormous portions and that Smokey tender deliciousness. We had the Moose nuggets that were supposed to be hush puppies with ham and roasted onion. Someone forget the cool ass ingredients. Not bad but certainly lacking the ham and onions. It was rib night so we got a couple. They were tender and delicious but they were also cold. Finally I got the KC sampler combo sandwich without the cheese sauce and my buddy ordered the brisket. When the server brought them to the table he said who got the sampler? I said me and he put the sandwiches in front of the wrong guys. My buddy dowsed my sandwich in 3 different sauces in a second and then we noticed the sandwiches were wrong. I ate the brisket and it wasn't bad but not as tender as I expected. The waitress saved the day by bringing us an extra link of sausage and some pulled pork. In all honesty I enjoyed my meal with all its faults and there was a huge amount of food. Will i recommend this place??? Let's just say Real smoke barbecue is hard to come by in Fairbanks. I still had a good time and struck a conversation with one of the regulars. Check out his tee shirt. They can't all be gems but it certainly wasn't horrible.

We were told about this BBQ being the best in town as it had been voted so by Guy Fieri . Turns out there are only two BBQ places in Fairbanks. LOL The ambiance is very casual and grungy but very cool ...totally Alaska style! Our server took our order quickly and the food came out right away. We were visiting from a cruise excursion so the place got very busy as we were all told about how good it was. All of Alaska is very pricey and hard to find many things we take for granted. They had no chicken and that was the second place we could not get chicken so we opted for St Louis ribs. My half rack was huge and the full rack was crazy huge. We got two sides each - coleslaw, mac and cheese, collards and baked beans. All our sides were generous and delish. Our ribs were disappointing....the dry rub was nice and the different bbq sauces were good but the rib meat was dry and tough. We had some root beer which is very popular in Alaska and washed it down but could not finish our meals. The bill came to $61, the average cost for dinner for two in most places in Alaska. Well, we tried! There are not many options in this little town of 30,000 most of who leave the area in the winter rather that wrestle with minus 50 below!! Glad we got to experience some thing new! There was a lot of food

Great service from the bartender. The food was great and came out quickly. There was a generous serving of brisket on my sandwich. Selection of 6 different sauces. The environment was fun, other patrons were friendly and sociable, and prices were reasonable.

    Outdoor sign.

The food was excellent. The brisket was so tender. I would go back. They were understaffed but they were trying there best. It was average inside. Nothing special. Because of the food I still give 4 stars.

Smoked Chicken, Ribs, beans and Mac-N-Cheese

Good BBQ in Alaska may seem counterintuitive, but Big Daddy's BarB-Q exceeded my expectations. The inside is dark and feels a little like a country fair dining hall. But it's about what I would expect from a good BBQ Spot. Plenty of seating, a few TV's with various sports channels, a bar in the middle of the room. From sitting down to having food on the table was about 10-15 minutes. The food was a bit surprising. Going in I anticipated a middle of the road food experience. But the ribs were tender and left the bones clean. The chicken was tender and juicy. I could have gotten a full order of either and been plenty happy with either decision. The beans weren't bad, kind of a sweet full flavored bean. The Mac-N-Cheese wasn't particularly impressive, but it's hard to mess up. A good experience and a decent price for BBQ.

This is the weirdest 3-star review I've ever had to write. Usually 3-stars means a place was average-to-above average. In this case, one aspect of this place was WAY above average, and one aspect was WAY below average. What is above average and what is below average is the exact OPPOSITE of nearly every other BBQ joint in AK. Ok, I'll stop being coy: The sides are amazing, the meat is meh. The sides at most AK BBQ joints are a joke. They are so bad that I don't even know why they bother. Usually beans out of a can and a cold slice of wonderbread. Not here though! The collard greens are some of the best I've had in AK, and the portion was generous! The baked beans were flavorful and you could tell they were homemade with care. Even the bread was a nice, chewy piece of perfectly-toasted garlic bread. The meat though, was dry, lukewarm and boring. I got brisket and it was just OK. It was more like wet beef jerky than brisket. The BBQ sauces were also very sweet with very little other flavors. The primary flavor component seemed to be "sugar". Maybe their pork is better? I don't know. I highly recommend the sides, but cannot get behind the brisket.

Part of the family that owns this amazing establishment.

Waitress warned me that it would take a while and I could either take a seat or wait in my car (it's a rental and I'm from SoCal during October early snow weather). So I chose the former. I only really looked at the front portion of the restaurant. Didn't seem too busy but one of the higher rated KFC spots and that was my craving. Plus, I went ahead and ordered for to-go since I wasn't too hungry and was more in preparation for the season's first snowstorm. Seemed like any other small restaurant layout with booth seating on the outskirts. Fried chicken smelled good once I walked in. Now the food itself: I appreciate how it wasn't overly sauced so the crisp wasn't completely gone by the time I took a quick bite for the night. I'm sure it would've been better straight out of the fryer. All pieces were still juicy. So overall very much up to par. Just not top tier. Before I got out of my car, a Transient came up to my car door to ask for something. As a solo traveler, I respectfully shook my head at him. He went into the shop next door. As this is in their downtown area, not surprising to have such an interaction. Unfortunately that lowers their rating though.

Although it was a bit of a tourist destination, the food was good and was plentiful. I really liked the Prime Rib! Salmon was good too. Only a few draw backs, the food is located outdoors and only the salad bar had a roof over the top. It did rain for a while and we had to make a choice to either stay undercover (hungry) or get wet (along with the food on your plate) while waiting in line to get your main courses. The main courses included Salmon, Prime Rib and a Cheesy Cod Bake. You also got unlimited non-alcoholic beverages and one dessert. Other drinks were available for a fee. Matter of fact, I went down to the prime rib area where they were cutting off a piece of medium and I asked for medium rare. He tried cutting it off the same spot. I said that's not medium rare he said it was I said fine knowing well I was going to write this review. Now you wanna play the game if you respond to me and I respond you you go right ahead and we'll do this for the rest of time. But you don't ever wanna walk into this place and spend your money on this crap. The Alaska Salmon Bake in Fairbanks comes with a reputation that the food unfortunately cannot support. Both the salmon and the cod were cooked far past any reasonable standard -- reduced to a dry, flaking consistency closer to fudge than fresh fish, with none of the moisture, fat, or flavor that world-class Alaskan seafood deserves. When I requested that my salmon be prepared medium rare -- the correct preparation for fish of this quality -- I was flatly refused. This is a liability shield masquerading as a culinary policy. Alaska runs some of the finest wild salmon on earth through these waters, and to reduce it to the same overcooked fate you'd find at a casino buffet is nothing short of malpractice. Properly prepared salmon should be translucent and silky at the center, the fat still doing its work, with a clean sear on the outside. What was served bore no resemblance to that standard. Holland America books this excursion as a signature Alaskan experience. Travelers deserve to know that the fish -- the entire point of the meal -- is cooked without skill or care, and no accommodation is made for guests who know how it should be eaten. Skip this and find a Fairbanks restaurant willing to treat their product with respect. You don't get to go on top of my review without an alternate response to me. You people knew full well what you were doing and how you were doing it. I asked every person there to cook beef fish, medium rare everyone and then said absolutely not so you can go to hell. And if you want to keep on going, I got the rest of my life to make you my cause so go ahead make my day.
