We have been coming here weekly for about 7 months as a treat for my son after swimming lessons. The quality and especially the speed of delivery has taken a steep decline for the worse. Additionally, the last several visits have resulted in at least one thing being wrong on our order if not multiple things. Corporate needs to send a training team here and work on the efficiency of the crew. It should not take on average 20-25 mins for an order. When I come to Wendy's I am expecting food in 5-10 minutes maximum. You can look around the restaurant and visually observe the displeasure of all the patrons. The one blessing is that the employees generally have a great attitude, are gracious, and polite. If there was a Wendy's even remotely closer to our route home I would simply avoid this location all together, but as it is, it's easier to deal with my frustration than the shouting and screaming of the disappointed child. Please help this location out! We can tell the staff is trying, but they aren't equipped to handle the demand. read more

I would come for the summer salad. That's it. As far as the burgers are concerned, they're all hit and miss on whether the orders come out correctly. When I was there last month, I saw a woman NOT wearing gloves handling raw frozen burger patties, cooking the burgers and placing them on the buns. Not very sanitary. Absolutely abhorrent food. As with some of my recent reviews we ordered into our work site on Uber Eats, my coworkers and I had very few choices and with the local McDonalds being a disaster we decided to order from this Wendy's. Not only were we missing an item but the ones that did come were disgusting, I added avacado to a burger expecting just a. . .you know, a little smear of it. What I do not expect is to open the wrapper and discover a ball of green snot with a burger somewhere in the middle of it. There was SO MUCH avacado on that thing that I couldn't even taste the meat, it was just white and green slime that was practically exploding from the wrapper. My coworkers chicken parmesan sandwich was dry, so dry that it got thrown away, and the kids meal we ordered? 5 times the amount of bread as meat, not even worth the $5 it cost to order it. I don't know who was working tonight or what their issue was but we will not be ordering from or returning to this location again. The service at this place is so slow. Today was an adventure in patience. Carol was the cashier and she should be mopping not working a cash register. I came in and waited maybe fifteen minutes to place my order, but only because the card reader was down. When I finally ordered, I spelled my name three times to Carol and she couldn't even get it right and left the vowels out and was a non name. I told her they better get my name right so I know when my food was ready. Of course they didn't call me since I don't answer to a tray shoved towards me when my back is turn and the words "here." I eventually got my burger and had to go back and ask for the additional onions I requested when I ordered. I was the lucky one because there was a line 9-10 deep for the next 45 minutes with only one register open. I hate to see when the lunch hour hits. Even the manager MC didn't jump on a register to help drop the line in between putting food on th trays. This is not a good Wendy's. The one on the Pali in Kailua is much better. Almost a decade later since my last review and I have to bump it up by a star. I used Grubhub twice to order food from this location. Their food is amazing. I love the crispy chicken nuggets combo with a Dr. Pepper, fries, one S'awesome sauce, and one bbq sauce. Food was piping hot and tasted delicious. There are also meal deals too which fit the budget especially during these hard times in a pandemic. Sometimes I would order a cheeseburger kids meal for someone in my family. I also liked their chili and bought two this time because I can make chili cheese dogs with rice. The baked potato is meh at best. I mean it's ok...the toppings are good, but the dryness makes it mediocre. Grubhub does have perks which this time had free delivery and the new chicken popper sandwich over the weekend. The sandwich was flavorful with bursts of cheese sauce, the jalapeno cream cheese was smooth, and there were a lot of jalapenos in the sandwich. If it becomes too spicy, drink milk. The only reason why it's four stars is that Grubhub's pricing is very inaccurate. I'm glad the app automatically gives me the right total after the order is done. Delivery can slow to a crawl if orders are placed during dinner hours. But I would definitely order Wendy's through Grubhub again. read more

I probably would come here more often if it wasn't just so darn popular here! Per norm, parking lot is packed and drive-through long. Found myself driving by and saw parking spaces. Hah, walked in and had only 1 patron in front of me. My order was ready for pick up under 1 minute. They provided 2 packets of chili hot sauce for my chili without even asking. Got the 4th star for that! It came w/3 saltines. More of a liquidy chili, not the thick kind that goes over rice. Need to grab your pump ketchup, packets of palette pleasers, straws and napkins to the left of the cashiers. Liked that it was all you can grab, but you did need to pick it up before you leave as they are not put on your tray or in the to-go bag. Friendly cashiers. Very good prices. Came in for dine in. I guess they have a shortage of workers because there weren't any workers in the front. There was only a drive thru person and the people preparing the food orders. So basically you order your own food and wait. It was not a busy night being a weekday, and the drive thru line was not very long. So why is fast food so slow? The one thing that i noticed is that all the workers on this particular night looked as though they hated their jobs. There were not happy at all. Maybe it's because of the place, maybe it's their personality, maybe they all had a bad night because of management. Whatever it was, it was obvious in their service. They did not have a care in the world. My other grip is how does wendys not hire someone to manage the front when dine in service is available until midnight? Is this a self service check out? James the order taker in drive thru sucks, we waited 5 mins at the box to order with a long line of cars behind us and all the cars ahead got served before he took our order so maybe he can't multitask. I first went through the drive through to get a taco salad, and they messed up my order. They gave me a Cesar salad. I was in a rush and couldn't change the order. I was able to go back 30 min after to get "another" taco salad and trust that the taco salad there is very disappointing... and they also forgot my chicken nuggets. Understand that during the second time I went inside to get an accurate order. I was waiting in the front counter for 10 min and did not get help from ANY employee, and the kiosk self-serve does not give out receipts. At 5:30 pm today I go to drive thru. Nobody is there. I go to Wendy's 1x per YEAR, if at all and now I know why. I order 2 daves double bc i have a coupon that says buy one, get one for $1. I got to front and tell her i have a coupon. She brings back another employee who scolding me and telling me i shouldve told them i had a coupon when ordering. I ignore her bc i dont have my food yet and seeing this is her attitude and maturity level, who knows what she would do to my food. Then as I leave, Im wondering, why did I pay so much? Bc they only took off $1 from my total when it was supposed to be, I oniy pay $1 for one of the burgers. I was always amazed at the long drive thru line at Wendy's on Puuloa road and the day I stopped for lunch was no exception. My wife and I were in the area and decided to try this Wendy's but we didn't expect it to be so crowded at 1:45 in the afternoon. The drive thru line backed up to Puuloa Road and the order line inside was pretty long as well. It took about 25 minutes to place and receive our order. As for the food, not worth the wait. We ordered 2 4 for $5 meals, one with a jr. cheeseburger and a jr. bacon cheeseburger. Really disappointed that the meat was super thin, you get what you pay for I guess. We also had to exchange our fries because they were soggy. This restaurant is a gold mine but it's not for me. read more

This was my first visit to Wendy's in nearly a decade. I remember how different Wendy's used to be when I was a kid. Does anyone else remember when Wendy's had an all-you-can-eat salad bar and a 99 cent menu? I would go to the Wendy's at my university's student union late at night whenever I craved the 4-piece chicken nuggets and fries for 99 cents each. Those were the good old days. Although there is no longer a 99 cent menu or salad bar, the classic Wendy's taste can still be found in its food. The chicken nuggets tasted the same as they did when I was in college. The burgers were sloppy with lettuce, tomatoes, and ketchup, the same as when I ate them as a kid. One thing that did seem to change were the fries. They used to be fatter and crispier throughout. Now they are just cheap hand cut fries that taste drier and less crispy than before. I don't see myself visiting Wendy's often in Hawaii for the simple fact that there isn't one conveniently located near my residence in town. In terms of taste, I have and always will prefer Wendy's to the other major fast food burger chains. Despite some modernization that has led to less of a bargain meal compared to several decades ago, the taste remains similar enough to bring back nostalgia for those who grew up enjoying Wendy's old fashioned hamburgers. read more

I honestly cant remember the last time I ate at a Wendy's but I was hungry and needed to kill an hour waiting for my computer to get fixed so I drove to this Wendy's and ordered the single bacon bbq cheeseburger, fried and unsweetened tea. I was pleasantly surprised to bite into crispy bacon, lettuce and onion rings with bbq sauce and juicy hamburger. The fries are thicker so taste more potatoey, yes that's my word for it, and the ice tea cut the grease nicely. The staff were all patient and pleasant. I parked and ate in the quiet shade of a tree and read a chapter from my CSLewis book Miracles. Time passed pleasantly enough. Maybe I can come back in another month instead of decade. read more

This is always happening at Wendy's Kailua and Aiea. This location if Wendy's is right off of Nimitz Hwy across the street from Infiniti. In it's prime days, this location of Wendy's wasn't that bad, minus the usual long wait in the drive thru or in-store during peak hours. Not to mention, this location does get quite sketchy if it's past 6pm or dark bc of the large volume of homeless people that frequent this area. Their spicy chicken Caesar salad used to be one of my fave fast food salads to get but now that they simply changed the salad's name to Parmesan chicken salad, the quality has gone down a lot. The other night I ordered my salad to find that approximately 1/4 of my half sized salad was full of super old lettuce that the workers did not bother to get rid of or to at least check the dates of their pre-made salads. A few years ago I even found a dead fly in my salad. My husband ended up getting the Dave's double, which he thought wasn't bad. Will probably not be back for my salad craving after my sad looking salad with 4 small slices of chicken on it. I gave it 2 stars since it's close to home and tends to offer coupons to make your meal more reasonable. read more

I usually don't comment on fast-food chains for their general mediocrity in quality. But, I must say their Pretzel bacon pub sandwich with chicken is a surprisingly good sandwich that can be consistently made well. You can choose grilled or classic fried or spicy chicken filet dressed in beer cheese sauce, Applewood smoked bacon, honey mustard, fried onions, pickles and muenster cheese. It sounds a bit much. It is a large sandwich, but the proportions of each component are good, not overbearing or too messy, made at this location. Pretzel bun is soft, yet holds everything well enough. Crunchy pickles are key in cutting through the cheese. You can choose a beef patty version, but I think it works best with the classic fried chicken. If you want breakfast, their "croissant" sandwich with egg and bacon is probably one of the best from fast-food drive thrus. It's a cute square shape, a little larger than a dinner roll. It's not too crumbly, but buttery and flaky enough to pass for a croissant. But, I would say it's a cross between a croissant and a light biscuit. Skip their morning fried potatoes. read more

Walked in and the line was crazy long. From the cash register to the back door. The drive- thru was just as bad. The cars backed up around the restaurant out to the main road. Oh, the down fall- one register. I usually never stand in line like this, but I saw the poster advertisement of new salads. I just had to try it. They offered half or full size bowls which I felt was an awesome idea for a fast food establishment. I ordered 2 half salads the Southwest Avocado Chicken Salad and the Berry Burst Chicken Salad. Both had a unique taste of it's own. The Southwest salad had Applewood Smoked Bacon, Pepper Jack Cheese with creamy avocado, a taste of Southwest. That creamy avocado made the salad burst with flavor. And the Berry Salad had lots of hand sliced fruits and almonds which is a great combination of my favorites all on one. It was such awesome experience for a fast food restaurant. Can't wait to go back to try the other new salads. read more

Every time I come to this Wendys, they somehow manage to screw something up. The only reason why I am finally writing a review for this place is because I am tired of missing something, having a completely wrong order, or SOMETHING messed up. I usually check my order in the car before I leave because it's already a given that something is going to be wrong. Today I didn't because I just got off a 12 hour flight from Florida and wanted something fast to eat when I get home at 1 am. I'm exhausted and starving so I ordered the crispy chicken caesar salad with extra caesar dressing in the drive through while my boyfriend got his nuggets. We get home and find out they didn't even give me the right salad OR the extra dressing. I don't know how you can mistake chicken caesar salad for apple pecan??? Normally I would just say screw it and eat whatever they give me anyways since I'm hungry but not today.. BECAUSE I AM SEVERELY ALLERGIC TO APPLES AND EVERYTHING IT TOUCHES. So yea, my boyfriend had to share his nuggets with me and I guess we'll both go to sleep still hungry tonight. Had to throw away my entire order and Wendys is too far away for me to drive all the way back and yell at them. read more

Young man who gave me my food had no smile and no words of acknowledgment. Good thing I checked my order because they were missing part of it. I had to yell thru the window to get their attention. Explained to the rude young man I was missing a burger. No words, no apology, just left me to make the burger. Handed it to me, then slammed the drive-thru widow shut. I've never seen such rude service! It's no wonder there were no customers around. Stay away from the Kailua Wendy's. It's sad how far down their service has become at night. Wendy's tries to position themselves as a better burger than the other chains but I don't care what Dave Thomas thinks Burger king is still better. Their fries are impressive.
