Randomly found this place for lunch with my daughters. I think they share the space with a nighttime restaurant which I thought was really cool. I'm not sure how new they are but it appeared that they had only 1 server, who was very efficient and attentive. The food took a bit longer than I would have liked, especially for burger and fries. Menu was adequate, burgers, hotdogs and fries, which is a good sign for me because that means they're not trying to do too much. I got two wagyu cheeseburgers, no onions, extra pickles for the girls, the One burger for myself, and a basket of fries. The girls really loved their burgers and they were a really good size, I could've done away with just ordering one and dividing it between the two of them. The bread was really nice, I can't tell if it was maybe a brioche burger bun or what but it was super tasty, soft and it sopped up the yummy juices well. They did excellent on the request for extra pickles, and the bread to patty ratio was very generous. The fries were good. Nothing extraordinary, but they complemented the burgers well. I think they might be the Ore-Ida frozen ones, which is fine. For my burger, I was pleasantly surprised and realized that I LOVE blue cheese with my burger. Between the tomato bacon jam, the pickles, onions, and special sauce, it was like a well-orchestrated symphony, each flavor getting highlighted without being overpowering, and complementing the rest. That being said, somehow, there was something missing. I am not quite sure what, but I think it's from the actual hamburger patty. I really wanted to say this was one of the best burgers I've had but there was something that just didn't quite get me there. For a wagyu patty, I think I needed it to be richer, and to hold its own with the other ingredients, but it felt like the add-ons were carrying the burger. I mean, I felt like the bread was doing more than the patty itself. Maybe the patty got a bit overdone and would've worked better medium rather than medium-well to well-done? I really can't be sure. The OG3 Cheeseburger Deluxe was just perfect. Perfect ingredients, perfect cooking, perfect taste. The Plain Hot Dog wasn't super great. Charred hot dog bun, hot dog itself was just okay. Service was good and friendly but it did take some time for food to come out. Place was mostly clean. I had to brush off a ton of powder or something grainy from my seat before I sat down but otherwise the place was nice and seat was comfortable. It's borrowing the space of a completely different restaurant and it's obvious because there's a cooktop in the middle of each table. No points deducted for that though. Just info. Placed my order at 1:20 PM, and the online estimate said it would be ready by 1:45 PM. I arrived around 1:35 PM and was told I was a little early, but that the host would let the kitchen know I had arrived. Along with two other people waiting for takeout, there were also about five parties dining in still waiting for their food. I ended up receiving my order at 1:57 PM. For a single burger, that felt like a pretty long wait -- especially after already waiting inside the restaurant for around 20 minutes with no updates. If an order is given a pickup time, it should ideally be ready or close to ready by then. That was definitely the biggest downside of the experience. The burger itself was good, though not quite worth the 40-45 minute wait overall. I ordered the Umami Wagyu Cheeseburger. It had good flavor, but it was pretty messy, and honestly, I couldn't really tell much of a difference from regular beef. I'm not sure the "wagyu" aspect added much for me personally. But if you blindfolded me, I don't know if I could confidently tell you it was Wagyu. Located on Young Street and it was pretty hard to find, because the sign was so small and on the ground, and the Japanese B.B. Q Yoshi's dominates the building, finding out it is the same owners just serving buffet types of food items. We found parking in the lot they also have public street parking. I had the Classic Cheeseburger & my wife had the same with a basket of crinkle cut French fries, which the cheeseburger was good it had cheese and diced onions and diced pickles with a special sauce. The crinkle cut French fries came out hot and crispy and was very good. My daughter and boyfriend had the OG 3 Deluxe Cheeseburger and a basket of crinkle cut French fries and they had onions and tomatoes with diced onions and diced pickles with a special sauce and they also enjoyed their choice. They have restroom one for men and one for women. The burgers are juicy and need to ask for extra napkin. We're a burger-loving family, so when my brother was visiting, my son and I decided to try Carl OG3 Burger Shop together with him. First thing to note: the burger concept operates inside a Japanese restaurant that's closed during the day. From a business standpoint, that's actually pretty smart -- shared kitchen space makes sense. However, as someone with a food allergy, I do wish that had been clearer beforehand. Cross-contact is something I always have to think about, and unfortunately the fries made me feel a little sick afterward (likely due to shared fryer oil with shrimp). Now for the food. Overall, it was okay -- not bad, but not something that stood out. The biggest issue for me was seasoning. The burger patty really needed more salt. A little extra seasoning would have made a significant difference in flavor. Structurally, it also struggled a bit. There was a noticeable puddle of what looked like water mixed with their special sauce at the bottom of the basket, which caused the bottom bun to become soggy. That made the last few bites unpleasant. The fries themselves were solid -- basic crinkle fries, salted well, crispy, and no major complaints there. Nothing particularly special, but dependable. Service-wise, our server was kind and seemed to be doing her best. She didn't speak English fluently, which made confirming allergens a bit tricky, but she was patient and polite. That said, multitasking appeared to be a challenge. We waited quite a while before being told we could seat ourselves, and other guests who came in after us experienced the same delay. It was also quite cold inside (we were dressed casually), so something to keep in mind if you run cold. I ordered hot water, and since they don't have mugs, it was served in a small soup bowl -- which I actually appreciated and had no issue with. Overall, it wasn't a terrible experience, but it also wasn't one we plan to repeat. Burger joint during the day, and a Japanese barbecue restaurant at night. There's a small parking lot in front and street parking too. Friendly greeting, and I was seated at the bar. I ordered a wagyu cheeseburger deluxe and added bacon. It did take a while, but it was worth it! Delicious juicy burger with fresh lettuce and tomato. Some burgers come out greasy, and granted I do like some like that, but this one was really good without that. This is a great place to come to. I'm so glad we stopped by because these burgers were so delicious!! I had some coworkers talking sooo highly about this place and how they wanted them again. They kept talking about them so I went to try. We both got The One burger and I'm so happy we did!! A friend of mine recommended this place for lunch and I had no idea what it was all about. Never heard of it. So often we went and boy were the burgers tasty. I got the OG Smashburger with an extra patty and that was quite satisfying. The patty could've used a little more salt, but overall I enjoyed it very much. My friend got the kimchi Smashburger and that too was delicious. Just be prepared to get a little messy. And be sure to order a basket of fries to share. The service service was great and things weren't too busy when we got there a little after 12:30 PM. There is parking available in the front, otherwise you'll have to find street parking in the area. Listen, I enjoy a burger as much as the next guy. Dabbled in many smash burgers throughout the years, but this one takes it. Can't believe the best burger I ever had at a joint that becomes a Japanese BBQ at night. We came on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was empty. Couple of online orders came and left, but other than that we had the place all to ourselves. Takes a minute for the food to come out, but its understandable when there's few staff and every order is made fresh to order. I got the wagyu cheeseburger deluxe. SOOO JUICY. The patty is made from their premium wagyu beef and is covered in their tangy signature sauce. The fix-ins (lettuce, pickles, etc) are all fresh and compliment the burger well. The bun is also fluffy and sweet I never had anything like it on a burger, easily one of my favorite parts. If I were to ever redo the order, I would just double up the patties because you truly can never get enough of it. Prepare for a messy burger because the sauce gets everywhere, but sometimes that's exactly what you're looking for. I had no shame in it, I would be buried with this goodness. Also their fries are so good too. Crinkle cut are my personal least fav cut of fries but something about these were so good. They're so crispy and seasoned to perfection. We had The One burger, the Wagyu Cheese burger and fries; to be honest The One tasted better than the wagyu, so next time I can save the money and skip the wagyu. This has long been one of my family's favorite places to enjoy burgers in town. We've been coming here since the very first location on Amana Street. The burgers are always delicious, and we've made many memories here over the years. I even celebrated my graduation with my family here, and the owner has always been incredibly warm and friendly. I still remember him greeting us from the back after we finished eating and made time to chat with us which I appreciate. That's why writing this review is honestly difficult. I spent the whole day debating whether to post this because I've always loved this place, but I left yesterday feeling deeply disappointed and heartbroken. Yesterday's experience was very different from what we've come to expect. We arrived before 1:30 PM, placed our order around 1:40 PM, and didn't receive our food until after 2:10 PM--over 30 minutes later. I completely understand that Saturdays are busy and delays happen. What hurt more was seeing several customers who arrived after us, and even ordered after us, receive their food first. There was even a group we chatted with who came in after us, ordered after us, got their food before us, and were almost finished eating while we were still waiting. Being left there without any explanation made me feel overlooked, and I honestly couldn't help feeling hurt and wondering whether we were being discriminated because we looked different. We've lived here for over eight years, and our family has always tried to be respectful and supportive of the local community. Maybe that's part of why this experience affected me so deeply. I may be wrong, and I truly hope I am, but I couldn't help leaving with a feeling of being discriminated against. The service from the beginning also felt very unlike our previous experiences. When we arrived and said we wanted to order takeout, the server did not give us a menu. We had to look for one ourselves. She walked away and started doing something else without saying anything to us. In the past, staff were always welcoming, handed us menus, and gave us time to decide. What made it more disappointing was that after we finally received our order, there was no acknowledgment or apology. I noticed the server apologizing to other customers, especially Japanese customers (I understand some Japanese), which honestly made the experience even more upsetting for me. I truly hate writing this because this place means a lot to my family. Maybe this was just one bad day, and I sincerely hope it was, because we've loved Carl Oji for years. I also want to say I'm sorry to the owner. When we were leaving, he shouted "thank you" to us like he always does, and I couldn't bring myself to reply. Maybe it will take me some time before I'm ready to come back after this experience. One of the guys heard good things about Carl OG3 so he placed our order online and went to pick it up. Haha, he went to the location on Amana Street and learned that Carl OG3 moved to Young St. They now occupy space within Japanese B.B.Q. Yoshi on Young Street, behind what I still call the First Interstate Building. He brought back our food but by the time he returned, my burger was at room temperature and the fries were not crispy. Those two are on us, not the restaurant. Three of us ordered "The One", a Snake River Farms 100% premium American wagyu beef patty, tomato bacon jam, blue cheese, American cheese, onion, jalapeno, & special sauce in a soft bun ($14.49). We each added an order of fries ($2.99). The fourth person ordered The Classic Cheeseburger ($8.99) and fries ($2.99). Our thoughts: Those of us that ordered "The One" thought that the tomato bacon jam and slices of jalapeno overwhelmed the meat. We couldn't taste the Wagyu beef. We opined that a second patty was needed to offset the intense flavors of the toppings, but that would increase the price to $20.99. The person that ordered The Classic Cheeseburger liked his sandwich; he gave Carl OG3 a rating of 4; I rated it 3. When one compares The Classic Cheeseburger and fries from Carl OG3 versus a similar order from The D***, the cost tips in favor of Carl OG3 significantly, $11.89 versus $16. Wow, such a SOLID burger place! Dropped by during work to pick up lunch and there were quite a bit of people inside so getting my burger took a while. The staff is super friendly and took my order relatively quickly so I sat at the bar to wait a bit. It looks like the inside is a Japanese bbq place and even though it was a smidge packed, it was pretty quiet. I ordered the fried kimchee burger and added an egg (yes, in this economy) and a basket of fries. The fries were still hot and crispy by the time I got home but the burger. The BURGER. I know when I have a proper burger when I have to break out a proper hunch to eat the burger. It's so soft and juicy and the flavors were absolutely on point. The bun was nice and soft, the patty and the cheese were so good, the kimchee brought just the right amount of spice and acidity, and the egg tied it all together. Will definitely be back to get more burgers but will order in advance next time! read more

The one, has got to be my top smashburger right now. Fries are just ok. Service and takeout on the slower side, so i'd recommend ordering takeout least 1.5 hrs ahead. read more

First time going here and I was confused by the exterior of the burger shop since it didn't seem like a burger shop. I was crvaing for a burger and saw this place on Google Maps. Thankfully, I saw the burger shop sign on an a-frame in front of the shop which let me know I was at the right spot. Please also keep in the mind that the shop hours listed in front of the shop are inaccurate and that the hours of operation you find online (such as on Yelp) are correct. :) Wagyu cheeseburger ($11.99): Smashburger with diced onions, American cheese, pickles, sauce, and fluffy, buttery buns. The single patty was just enough to make me full. The burger itself was not overly oily or greasy at all. I'm not personally a fan of pickles usually but the pickles went well with the burger and I ended up eating it! Gotta be one of the best smashburgers I've had so far. The OG3 Style Fries were awesome as is with all the toppings it had. My favorite part was the tangy sauce on top of it. I wish I knew what the sauce was made of. However, it does feel like there's a lot of flavors going on at the same time when eating those fries and the burger I ordered. I'll probably just get the burger and regular fries next time. Although... I would definitely order both the og3 style fries *and* the wagyu cheeseburger if I'm feeling hungover haha. Overall, it's interesting to see how a burger shop operates in a yakiniku-looking restaurant. I love that there's ample settings for groups and that it doesn't get too packed inside. The only "negative" is that parking can be tight but I have nothing negative to say about the establishment itself. read more
