Crispy Fries
Keola K.

I have had this place on my radar for a while now, just never made it out to Kaimuki to try it. That ended today and the food did not disappoint =D. The Order: Hal's Special (Bbq Burger and Teri Beef with lettuce , tomatoes , onions , and mayo) and crispy fries on the side The fries were nice and crunchy and soft in the middle. The burger what an umami meat explosion. The burger is nice and soft, the Teri beef so sweet, add the melted cheese, nice crunch of the lettuce and onions , and juicy Ed's of the tomato. Left me with one happy tummy. It was a rainy day so I was lucky to go when no one was there, so the food was ordered and the burger came quick freshly cooked and hot. They are located just after City Mill (east side) and on the Mauka side of the road). So if coming from the west, you could miss it as the storefront is tucked in with a few stalls. I will definitely be back again.

I went here the other day and tried their "Hal burger" for the first time. This burger comes with teri beef and cheese. Ordered it with their fries too to go. Their online ordering made it easy for me to pick it up on my lunch break.everything was delish and such a treat!

Almost a full lot at 8:50am 8/14/21!

Are they closing?!? Someone said W&M is closing! That can't be! Say it ain't so! Stopped in for my regular order of Onion Royal, fries and crab salad. The burger is so flavorful and the veggies are fresh and crisp. Ketchup mayo and relish. Ahhh, heaven. Crab salad is creamy but not overmayoed. (Is that a word?! I suppose only in the 808 it is!) Moving on, fries have change over the months/years, more than likely due to rising costs. All good. I do, however, miss being able to order "soft fries". IYKYK. Some other places will make. I usually order 2; one for the car and one for the meal. So happy! I hope W&M stays open. I've been a patron for 50+ years, since small kid time.

HAL special

When I was a child my grandma would buy me teriyaki burgers from here all the time as they lived in Palolo. I remember really liking it, but have never been here myself. I finally came here recently. It's a small take out spot with six parking stalls in the front. You order at the window and they call your number when your food is ready. They were busy. We waited about 25 minutes for our burgers and fries. I went up to the window to place my order. I asked if they still sell teriyaki burgers as it wasn't on the menu. The cashier gave me a puzzled look and said that they're all teriyaki burgers, lol. That would explain it. We ordered the HAL special $10.70 (royal hamburger with bbq steak, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese) and Onion royal steak $8.85 (bbq steak, lettuce, onion and cheese. We got two orders of fries $3.45 each and a large green river $3.75. The burgers were good. I love the sauce that they put on it. It balanced out the teriyaki flavor. The fries were fresh out of the fryer crispy and not too oily. My only complaint was that the burgers were on the small side.

Outside of this famous Teriyaki Cheeseburger && FFries && Crab Salad place, that I grew up eating at with my Ohana, yayyyy!!!

Aloha Ahiahi, from Hawai'i Nei. \000/ A "belated Review" from last yr; 9/2024, that I stumbled upon a lil while ago, sitting in my *Google* pge & I assumed I shared it here on yelp, but I don't see it posted to my "Yelp" pge.... Iconic BBQ Cheeseburger Eatery, from back in the 70's, that my Parents used to bring us, my (3 Sisters) & I here to eat at. The prices sure have gone up here a lot, but I'll still Continue to drop on by here, every now & then!! They now sell Desserts here too!! I've tried their *Pumpkin Crunch* the last time I swung on by here to pick up some Lunch, the *Pumpkin Crunch" was Ono, Costs was, a lil Under? $6.00. My total for my Lunch that day, several days ago (9/2024), in the Beginning of Sept, was A whopping......$23.00+.. .I ordered a BBQ Cheeseburger, French Fries, Order of Crab Salad, & the Newly Dessert, (Pumpkin Crunch), Hana hou, it was really Tasty, Fresh & Onolicious. Lol Ooh, I ordered a Diet Drink too. Doh. Haha . If I didn't order that dessert/Pumpkin Crunch, then my total for my Lunch that day would've been, less than, $20.00, right Next time, I'll just order my Usual, && not order, A drink (H2o is always better to drink), maybe, just maybe, not Order their *Crab Salad*, then for sure my total for my Lunch, SB way less, than my $23.00 Crazy total from my recent visit from; 9/2024. Lastly, the BBQ Sandwiches from here are Delicious, they sell BBQ Steak Sandwiches also!! You tell them how you want your Sandwich made, with what or what not u would like in your BBQ Delish Burgers! I like the Fresh Fries from here also, although, the Sz of your FF aren't a big Sz., for the prices you'll pay for your FF here! Try their, *Crab Salad*, I grew up Eating their Crab Salad from here, I'm pretty sure it's Imitation Crab that's inside of their *Crab Salad*. Prkg here is tight, I've lucked out the many, many times I've swung on by here after my Docs Appointment. Their would always be (1) prkg Stall left & I would be SO Hau'oli :). I have eaten all of my FFries from here (while driving back home), one time in the past, because I was hungry & my F-Fries were still Hott, yummy!! Lol. Also, we/I have also parked @City Mill, if I can't find prkg @W&M. I hope my ka'a doesn't ever get towed from City Mill, yikes!!! Aloha from the "808".

Royal deluxe burger
Richard H.

Hot spot for local style Teriyaki cheeseburger! Get their Royal with extra patty, extra cheese. Be sure to add their delicious, crispy French fries, and save room for their crab flavored potato, macaroni salad.

Dessert trio $7.75

The Royal Hamburger was very simple. The patty didn't taste homemade and was a bit dry. I liked the dessert trio. Royal hamburger $8.75 Large drink $3.95 Dessert trio $7.75 Fyi: It's a takeout spot with no seating at all. And there are only about 6-7 parking spaces on site.

De-lish! Definitely recommend ordering online to minimize your wait. Super limited parking. So I always like to go with someone & have them drop me off if there is no parking. I love places like this that have been around forever with a loyal following and great food. They have a great vibe. Their team is super nice and although there may be a wait, everyone is super patient. All because of the star which is the food. We got the deluxe burger, the deluxe steak burger, fries and crab salad look forward to returning!

Hal burger, fries, mac salad
Jordan F.

Fries were not too oily. Lightly salted. And had a nice crunch with a little bit of chew The Mac salad had the right amount of mayonnaise. I love the bits of peas throughout. The Hal burger, kind of reminded me of soft jerky between two buns. Came with lettuce onion and tomatoes, love the freshness it brings. You get the choice to add condiments: ketchup, mustard, relish. Lived in Palolo my whole life and this is the first time I've eaten here. I always passed by this place. This place gets my approval for surviving this long despite pandemic and other economic hardships. Although I'm a little sore I haven't eaten here before when prices were lower but still for $19 you get those three items mentioned above. Portions were just right. Parking is small and little tight but luckily there were open stalls when I went to pickup my phone order. Also great service.

Such a popular local business that's been around for so many years. We were in Kaimuki today, and when my husband asked if I wanted a W & M burger, I couldn't answer fast enough!! Yummy teriyaki meat/teriyaki burger combo and fries is what we always have. It's so ONO!! (delicious) If you're really hungry, you may want to order two. They're not huge burgers, but definitely packed with flavor. *Parking is limited and it's always busy and timing is everything. As I sat in my car waiting, I noticed several people walking over from the City Mill parking nextdoor. Seemed as though they did a phone order, and were in and out in a few minutes. If you order there, you may need to wait 15-20 minutes, depending how busy they are. Check them out, never disappoints!!

Becca F.

Best burgers forever. My go to phone in order (and now you can order online). DOUBLE PATTY ROYAL, everything except ketchup. They take tap, cards now too! Okay to eat there standing up, but also mainly it's a get it to go place.

At the time, he stated that him and his partner were in a competition to see how many triples they could sell, but figured I'd keep that in the back of my mind for our next visit. We came here on a recommendation from my boyfriend's coworker and I'm glad we came! The burgers and fries were made fresh. There are only a hand full of tables inside and a small bar area, but there is also outdoor seating outside, too! A neat fact is that there were pictures posted from when the shop first opened up and to see They Daley as a fixture in Chinatown is amazing since they've stuck around and adapted to the development around. The burger was delicious, too. They have an aioli sauce that was good with diced up pickles. Usually I request no pickles but the small bursts really added to the texture and feel of the burger overall. 10/10 would come again!

I'm pleased to report that this latest order contained a perfectly prepared burger and a bag of crispy fries (as ordered). The remaining nitpicks were: 1) having to wait an additional 10 minutes past the time the order was supposed to be ready, 2) paying $6 for a bag of fries. Increase the price of the burger by $1 and reduce the price of the fries. Yes, the total would be the same but the value would be where it belongs. In any case, $10 is money well spent for a great burger.

I came in ready to experience a life-changing Wagyu burger... the kind that makes you question…read moreevery burger you've ever eaten. Instead, I had a really good burger. I ordered the Wagyu Deluxe Burger, and don't get me wrong--it was juicy, well-seasoned, and served on a soft, slightly sweet bun that tied everything together nicely. It was delicious! But if you blindfolded me, I don't know if I could confidently tell you it was Wagyu. It tasted very similar to a really good smash burger, so unless you're trying to impress your taste buds (or your wallet), I'd probably just order the original smash burger next time. One thing to keep in mind: there was only one guy running the whole operation when I visited. He was taking orders, cooking, and doing everything short of cloning himself. So if the place gets busy, expect a little wait. Honestly, respect to him for keeping it all together. Parking is a bit of a treasure hunt since there are only a few stalls. I got lucky and snagged the last spot, but street parking may be your backup plan. The inside was clean, spacious, and a comfortable place to enjoy your meal. Overall, I'd definitely come back--next time I'll save a few bucks, grab the original smash burger, and let the lone burger superhero work his magic.

Along with two other people waiting for takeout, there were also about five parties dining in still waiting for their food. I ended up receiving my order at 1:57 PM. For a single burger, that felt like a pretty long wait -- especially after already waiting inside the restaurant for around 20 minutes with no updates. If an order is given a pickup time, it should ideally be ready or close to ready by then. That was definitely the biggest downside of the experience. The burger itself was good, though not quite worth the 40-45 minute wait overall. I ordered the Umami Wagyu Cheeseburger. It had good flavor, but it was pretty messy, and honestly, I couldn't really tell much of a difference from regular beef. I'm not sure the "wagyu" aspect added much for me personally. I'm usually a very patient person, but this experience left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I can only imagine how long the dine-in customers were waiting. I'm glad I had the chance to try it, but I'm not sure if I'd come back.

She made us feel genuinely welcomed, took great care of us throughout our meal, and was quick, attentive, and friendly the entire time. Her excellent service made an already enjoyable visit even better. The food was fantastic. The burger was flavorful, juicy, and cooked perfectly, while the fries were extra crispy with a delicious garlic flavor that really stood out. Since it's an open-air restaurant, it was a little warm dining at around 1:00 p.m., but that was the only minor downside. Overall, everything was lovely, and Christine's outstanding hospitality made the experience memorable. I would definitely come back!

I'm not going to lie, the wait time for the food is extremely long for just burgers and fries--took more than 30 minutes--but please keep in mind this is a small business. I think there were only 2 or 3 people working, an auntie, uncle, and a younger guy who I believe was cooking. The food looked so beautiful but everything was too salty and the patties were way too charred, which I'm hoping was a one off thing. I did DM them on social media shortly after picking up our order and they said it was an off day. They offered for me to come back one day so they can make things right, but I don't know if I'll have the time to swing by anytime soon. I truly hope this business does well, they are the sweetest people I've met in the last few months, and I wish them nothing but the best. I hope others have a better experience than I did.
