Ah, W&M, how we missed you! I'm so glad you're still around. Given the number of long-time business that have closed down for one reason or another, it was wonderful to find W&M still going strong. As usual parking is a little challenging since there's only about 5 stalls but the service is quick, so the cars move in and out pretty fast. This is one of the best places for a teri burger. Double Onion Royal is my fave. Their fries are those thick crinkle ones. So good! FPO loves the Green River. We took our feast to Wailupe Beach Park and scarfed. Good times! read more

I don't remember W&M burger being THIS good. The reason I decided to revisit was because I saw their guava cheesecake post on Instagram and lowkey just wanted to come for the dessert...but ended up ordering all kinds of other things. I don't know who needs to hear this but In-N-Out is just not that good lol. W&M does it super simple yet so good. I got a cheeseburger with mayo and my bf got the HAL special. Both were 10/10. Fries were also golden brown and super crispy--didn't even need sauce or ketchup. We also picked up a couple guava cheesecakes and pumpkin crunch, which didn't disappoint. We came on a Saturday and there were a few people in front of us, but the food came out super fast. We also witnessed the new mural being painted across their wall, which is a work of art in itself. I have had this place on my radar for a while now, just never made it out to Kaimuki to try it. That ended today and the food did not disappoint =D. The Order: Hal's Special (Bbq Burger and Teri Beef with lettuce , tomatoes , onions , and mayo) and crispy fries on the side The fries were nice and crunchy and soft in the middle. The burger what an umami meat explosion. The burger is nice and soft, the Teri beef so sweet, add the melted cheese, nice crunch of the lettuce and onions , and juicy Ed's of the tomato. Left me with one happy tummy. It was a rainy day so I was lucky to go when no one was there, so the food was ordered and the burger came quick freshly cooked and hot. They are located just after City Mill (east side) and on the Mauka side of the road). So if coming from the west, you could miss it as the storefront is tucked in with a few stalls. Haven't been here for quite a while so was excited to eat their burger and fries. I ordered the Royal Hamburger and fries for myself and 2 Plain Hamburgers with Lettuce and fries for my husband. We were disappointed because the burgers didn't have that bbq taste we're used to and it also wasn't hot...it was room temperature so we didn't enjoy it. Another thing we didn't care for was the fries. It was hot but hard and salty. Didn't seem like the same fries they used to have. First time experiencing this from here. Are they closing?!? Someone said W&M is closing! That can't be! Say it ain't so! Stopped in for my regular order of Onion Royal, fries and crab salad. The burger is so flavorful and the veggies are fresh and crisp. Ketchup mayo and relish. Ahhh, heaven. Crab salad is creamy but not overmayoed. (Is that a word?! I suppose only in the 808 it is!) Moving on, fries have change over the months/years, more than likely due to rising costs. All good. I do, however, miss being able to order "soft fries". IYKYK. Some other places will make. When I was a child my grandma would buy me teriyaki burgers from here all the time as they lived in Palolo. I remember really liking it, but have never been here myself. I finally came here recently. It's a small take out spot with six parking stalls in the front. You order at the window and they call your number when your food is ready. They were busy. We waited about 25 minutes for our burgers and fries. I went up to the window to place my order. I asked if they still sell teriyaki burgers as it wasn't on the menu. The cashier gave me a puzzled look and said that they're all teriyaki burgers, lol. That would explain it. We ordered the HAL special $10.70 (royal hamburger with bbq steak, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese) and Onion royal steak $8.85 (bbq steak, lettuce, onion and cheese. We got two orders of fries $3.45 each and a large green river $3.75. The burgers were good. I love the sauce that they put on it. It balanced out the teriyaki flavor. The fries were fresh out of the fryer crispy and not too oily. My only complaint was that the burgers were on the small side. read more

My total for my Lunch that day, several days ago (9/2024), in the Beginning of Sept, was A whopping......$23.00+.. .I ordered a BBQ Cheeseburger, French Fries, Order of Crab Salad, & the Newly Dessert, (Pumpkin Crunch), Hana hou, it was really Tasty, Fresh & Onolicious. The Hal burger, kind of reminded me of soft jerky between two buns. Came with lettuce onion and tomatoes, love the freshness it brings. You get the choice to add condiments: ketchup, mustard, relish. Lived in Palolo my whole life and this is the first time I've eaten here. I always passed by this place. This place gets my approval for surviving this long despite pandemic and other economic hardships. Although I'm a little sore I haven't eaten here before when prices were lower but still for $19 you get those three items mentioned above. Portions were just right. This is an OG spot and if you know you know haha. I grew up in Pālolo so naturally we'd find ourselves picking up lunch or after school "snack" from here. Their staff is always friendly and the food is always hot and made to order. The only issue, the parking is kind of tough since they're always so busy! When people tell me that W & M has been around for over 70 years, I still can't believe it. I've only known it to be located on Waialae Ave and not at their OG spot. When you think about it, they've been doing burgers for over 7 decades, so they must know burgers, right??? Yes, they do. There is a reason for the line outside of hungry customers. They have everything from their signature Royal hamburger, cheeseburger all the way to the top, their Hal Special, which is their signature Royal burger topped with onolicious BBQ Steak. You can have it with lettuce tomatoe, onion, and cheese or take any away. It's all up to you. For those who don't want a burger, they also have hotdogs, and for you non eating red meat, they have the morning star veggie burger. Remember back in the day the drunk green river? They have it here. Now that brings back memories. They also sell dessert like pumpkin crunch, white chocolate creme brulee and other things. The only downside besides waiting in line is that they only have 6 parking stalls. Might be good to come with a friend who can drive around the block and get you when you have the goods. If waiting in line isn't your thing, you can also call in your order. What I kind of noticed is that you might have to wait longer if you were to stand in line and order. Old school burgers that still taste as amazing as the last time I had them. Whenever in town it's a must to get a Hals special! We decided to add bacon to our order, and I think that's my new favorite way to order it. Parking lot gets packed, so go early. I wasn't really happy with the fries we ordered though, it was either extra crispy or they premade them and they sat so they were very hard. It's in a neat old building directly behind City Mill in Kaimuki; it's so easy to miss I never saw it in over 10 years of driving by. They have dedicated parking that's easy to navigate; it's locked with a chain when closed. Our first attempt to come was during open hours but they were closed anyway, so we tried again a week later. You should note their hours are restrictive around lunch only, so if you're hoping for this for dinner you have to get it in the afternoon. Their menu and story of the business are on the windows in front. It's a simple menu of BBQ burgers, fries, hot dogs, and drinks. We each ordered a different burger and got some sides to share. Prices are super reasonable here; for four of us it was less than $40 for everything. Burgers are cooked well done but still moist as they should be. Service was fast and efficient, the order was ready quickly and we were on our way. Everything tasted good, we enjoyed our meal but felt portions were small but they seem consistent with what they've always done. They have a 60s drive in look and taste. I had a light lunch so felt hungry for dinner early. I got to W & M just before they closed. They were out of fries which was disappointing but I did get The Hal which is their Royal hamburger with added teriyaki beef which they call BBQ steak. I got it with the works. The service was good and relatively fast since I was the only one there lol. There are no tables so take your food elsewhere to eat. The Hal was filling and the Teri beef added even more flavor. It was on the sweet side but it was sliced thin and stayed in the burger without being pulled out with each bite. The lettuce was crisp and reminded me of a certain well known CA burger chain. The burger patty was on the thin side. Overall the Hal was a filling and flavorful burger! I wish they were open until early evening hours so you can get dinner from there. 4:30 pm is a bit early so plan on going there for lunch only. W&M has been fueling my family for 4 generations and has never missed but since I've left 10 years ago I've not gotten my fix nor an update on what's been up with it as everytime I come back and wanna go it ended up being closed... I thankfully can say that on top of still remaining my favorite burger and fries spot on the rock this place has arguably the best desserts too! The Hal special, fries and large green river have always been a staple for me since I first came growing up coming back from the beach or a solid test and to now add dessert to the equation puts this place over the top. I had the strawberry panna cotta with fruit and whipped cream and while the rest of the offerings like ube cheesecake looked hammahs the fruit sang to me and was well worth it. This thing was huge and not runny with a nice rich vanilla flavor and topping it off with strawberry compote syrup and fresh strawberries made this pop like no other. While I've had panna cottas before it was mostly crispy from a flambé so the flavor profile was different. I'd easily come back and make the journey into town for this alone but everything together for 25 bucks and change is a steal in this economy and I'm so happy this place hasn't gone under and is still happily slammed when they're open.
