Daley Burger and Crinkle Cut Fries
    Blanca M.

Fire Just two dudes in their rhythm making burgers and fries. They take a bunch of orders, then cook a bunch at once. High top tables and some seating by the fryer, or paper bags for takeout. Smash burgers with grilled onions and melted American cheese on a potato bun with "boss sauce" Boss Sauce think mayo, mustard, relish? IDK - it's a secret! It's Chinatown, so parking and unicorns are one and the same. Save yourself the stress, and just park at the "Kekaulike Courtyards Municipal Parking" on Maunakea, it's like a 3 minute walk.

If you're looking for a good, simple smash burger The Daley is my No. 1 go-to spot. Located in Chinatown, you can find street parking if you're lucky or park in one of the many parking structures around the area. They can get busy so I recommend ordering ahead online or going during non-peak hours. There is seating inside which is thankfully air conditioned because it can get hot with the afternoon sun and seating outside. Their menu is very simple, consisting of either a single or double beef patty, a Beyond "Veggie" patty option, fries and drinks. They also have a water station available. Their crinkle cut fries are hot, crispy and lightly salted. The burger itself is simple, no additional add ons just the crispy caramelized patty, cheese and house made boss sauce. Although simple in construction, the burger packs a lot of flavor and fills your burger cravings.

Simple. Modern. Delicious. Small menu, but they do everything on it very exceptionally well (which is burger and fries). Very affordable for food in Hawaii!! Meat was not dry, wonderfully smashed and mixed with a perfect bun and sauce with grilled onions. Parking is street. There's no restroom but plenty of water, there were two beer options, and a cookie dessert option. I'd go back. Understated chic burger done exceptionally well. And I don't even like burgers, but my boys are already asking to go back again.

We tried to visit The Daley this evening and walked in at 6:04 pm, only to be told they were already closed--even though Yelp and Google listed their hours as open until 8:00 pm. It was frustrating to make the effort to come by based on the posted hours and then be turned away just minutes after 6. If the restaurant closes earlier on Sundays, that information should be clearly and accurately reflected online to avoid wasting customers' time. We were genuinely interested in trying this spot, but the lack of accurate hours left a disappointing first impression.

Lowkey smashburger restaurant in Chinatown. You're greeted with relaxed lighting, house music, and the type of customer service you get in New York aka no bullshit, no small talk. The menu is straight forward with there being only one burger. They do offer customization to remove any of the ingredients including boss sauce, grilled onions, and cheese. I recommend removing the boss sauce if you're not into the taste of pickles as it's very pickle heavy. The burger was fresh and well seasoned. It hit the spot for a quality smashburger. Pro tip: Make this your last stop of the night because you will leave smelling like you've been cooking burgers all day.

Second time to this place. If you can get over the fact you have to find parking in China town...this place is easily the best burger spot in Hawaii. Even when busy they get you your food fast. The store may be small but it has a nice personality. The workers were flooded both times I went but so friendly and positive.

Their smashburgers are so good. It's so good that it's practically the only item on the menu. Imagine opening a business and relying on that one item to drive your business. They sell the Daley Burger, the Veggie Burger, fries and drinks. The dining area is small. They have about five or six tables. They do a ton of takeout. We sat at one of the tables and dined in for about an hour. Everyone ordered the Daley Burger. I did not see one Veggie Burger being made. We got the Daley Burger $10, the Daley Burger with two patties $15 and fries $6. The potato bun is grilled. The smash patty is topped with grilled onions, American cheese and with house made Boss Sauce. The sauce is white and tasted kind of like tartar sauce. The crinkle fries were also very good. It was super crispy and not greasy at all. You order and pay at the counter. They'll call your name when your order is ready. I'll be back for another burger and fries.

I work downtown and have heard about the delay non-stop when I would talk about burgers, so when I got the chance to try it out, I jumped at the opportunity. The Daley is a fairly small establishment, but they also have seating out in the back. Their menu is fairly simple, and they're known for their smash burgers, so I got the Daley burger with an extra patty (double down+5). We also added fries on top as well. It is completely self-service. You go up to the counter, order, and sit around to wait and grab your food at the counter. There's a little water station for you to serve your own water as well. The wait is a big longer but fairly reasonable, like 10-15min for our order, especially as they were super busy when we came by. My coworker and I grabbed our food and ate elsewhere. The burger was good, solid, I personally felt like there wasn't anything SPECIAL about the burger, but it also was better than a typical burger. I like my burgers on the saltier side as I feel like it brings out the beefiness & umami flavor so I had to add salt myself. I heavily recommend ordering the double patty, as one would NOT be enough for me whatsoever. If you do the math, $10 for a basic, thin patty plain cheeseburger is crazy and $15 for the same but another thin patty isn't any better. If I was craving a burger and I was near I would come back, but it personally isn't a "crave-able" spot for me.

We came here for lunch on a Sunday and it was quite packed. We each ordered a Daley burger and shared fries. The food came out within 10-15 minutes or so which was pretty fast and it's cool how you can see them grill the burgers right in the front. The burgers were delicious! The patty was a good/decent size and I really liked the grilled onions and sauce on it as well. The fries were your average crinkle cut fries but they were still good. The restaurant itself is kinda small and you may have to wait a bit for a table to open up. Parking can be tough too since it's in Chinatown and you have to pay. Overall, a nice place to check out if you're craving smash burgers!

Daley is one of our office go-tos for takeout. They get really busy during lunch, so we always place an online order. The order is usually ready by the time we get there and sitting on the counter. When a place only sells one item, you know they're going to do it well. I got a double down because I was extra hungry that day. I also got fries and ordered a side of boss sauce. Their boss sauce is delicious, and I would definitely recommend. Their burgers always hit the spot. It's a perfect amount of crispiness with a soft and sweet bun. I would definitely recommend the Daley if you like smash burgers.

@fortunefoodfinds: "This is your DALEY reminder to "JUST DO IT!" A DALEY BURGER, A DOUBLE DOWN, n' CLASSIC CRINKLE CUT FRIES from THE DALEY located in Chinatown. Their burgers continue to hit da spot. When it comes to making choices, why not!" Staff: fully staffed Interior: small, high table seating Exterior: in Chinatown HNL Wait time: 15 mins Parking: metered street Overall comments: their smash burgers have been my fave from the first time I had it. Simple, but full of flavor n' always satisfying. Pair it with their crinkle cut fries + ketchup n' it's a done deal for a complete meal. Parking can be difficult so we order to-go. Best to order online so that pick up is easy when you have another person driving around while you get your food. My 4 y/o son is really into burgers right now n' he loves the Daley burger too!

    Do they sell milkshake?

    No. Just coke and beer

Is there public parking or gotta park off street?

There isn't parking specifically for The Daley. But there is metered street parking as well as a couple public parking garages near by.

    What are the hours here?

On Instagram, their bio says their open from 11am-8pm Monday-Saturday. Open from 11am-6pm on Sunday.

Do they have dine in now?

They were letting us dine in before vaccine cards were required. Confusing as they sometimes change it up

    Is indoor seating available?

Yes, but it's limited. Small space.

Does anyone know what type of oil is used? There's no phone number listed to call. My boyfriend has a peanut allergy so we wanted to make sure it wasn't peanut oil.

What are their Hours during this Covid Pandemic? Are they open for dinner? No phone # to call and ask? :(

I don't know the answer on top of my head for their hours but you can also order through the app called Toast Take out. I think it hours listed their too.

Why doesn't Daley have a contact number? Do they not want customers to call them to place an order or to inquire? (I know they have an APP)

Unfortunately they don't have a phone number which I don't quite get.

Don't typically go to that area so what's a good spot to park? Or is there parking in there?

There's side street parking or garage parking down the the street

    What is a soft shake?

It's kind of like soft serve...

Along with two other people waiting for takeout, there were also about five parties dining in still waiting for their food. I ended up receiving my order at 1:57 PM. For a single burger, that felt like a pretty long wait -- especially after already waiting inside the restaurant for around 20 minutes with no updates. If an order is given a pickup time, it should ideally be ready or close to ready by then. That was definitely the biggest downside of the experience. The burger itself was good, though not quite worth the 40-45 minute wait overall. I ordered the Umami Wagyu Cheeseburger. It had good flavor, but it was pretty messy, and honestly, I couldn't really tell much of a difference from regular beef. I'm not sure the "wagyu" aspect added much for me personally. I'm usually a very patient person, but this experience left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I can only imagine how long the dine-in customers were waiting. I'm glad I had the chance to try it, but I'm not sure if I'd come back.
