I don't think it's ever a great sign when you end up at a Wendy's at night, is it? After a few drinks I craved something simple, a little greasy so Wendy's it was. The inside was tiny so I was more than happy to take it to go. When you're at a touristy type of location, you know you're going to be waiting around with all sorts of characters: drunks, beggars, and everyone in between. Despite the dingy look, the service was actually pretty great. i was waited on immediately, met by a nice cashier and given my food within a few minutes. If you've been to Wendy's then you know what a Jr. bacon cheeseburger tastes like and you know that their fries, when warm, are delicious. If you're in the mood for Wendy's you might as well stop. Don't think you're saving money at the keys by having "Wendy's" the prices have a surge. There's no 4 for $4 at Key West is 4 for $6. Just by that you see the $2 hike in prices and it's not that your food is different it's the same food as if you got it inland. Furthermore, I know they deal with a lot of drunks but their costumer service is none existing. You get more out of your money by going to a local spot. OMG! I can't believe I am doing another bad review. However, this place was so bad I just couldn't let it go. After we had an early dinner, we got hungry again in the late evenings. Since we were too tired to go out of our hotel again, and this Wendy's is just around the corner, we decided to get a few burgers and bring them to the hotel. We eat at Wendy's all the time. The particular Wendy's we go to near our house serves very good burgers and fries. We figured Wendy's should taste the same anywhere just like McDonalds and this place should shouldn't be any different. But we were wrong. First impression when I walked in the door: something is off. There were only two people in the line but I see at least half of dozen workers behind the counter, and from the looks on the customers faces, they have been waiting for a while. I placed the order with the cashier, then saw the same person turned around and started preparing our burgers in the back...without washing his hands or wearing any gloves. I thought since no actual money changed hands because I paid by credit card, his hands were probably clean..... Then I saw the workers worked on our burgers carelessly. They were doing it like they didn't care what goes into a burger, taking there time chit chatting, and basically just dumped our burgers into the paper bag. Long short...these burgers were the worst tasting Wendy's burgers I've ever had...and I had many of them. And also...both my wife and I got really sick later that night. Not going into the details, we pretty much took half a dozen to the bathroom that night. I'd strongly not recommend anyone to eat at this place. The employees here seem to not understand that they can't just bark statements with a heavy accent and expect to be understood by everyone. If the employee wants to know what chicken the guest wants with their salad, they shouldn't ask "what chicken do you want?", ask crispy or grilled chicken. When you speak to guests look them in the eyes and speak TO them. Not barking statements at them while you stare at your computer screen. They don't wear gloves to prep, the trash cans are overflowing, and who knows what goes on in the back. If working in fast food is all you have, make the most of it. If you're hating it, it's definitely not the customers fault for you to take it out on. Calm down and do your best while you search for an alternative you can live with. And keep the joint clean. This is a teeny tiny Wendy's situated amongst the bar scene on Duval Street. The two employees must be the same ones mentioned in other reviews (read the other reviews for great laughs!). Employees: wow... just wow... They got the job done but the process was entertaining at that time of night. I came in at 11:45PM and only had one other person in front of me. I could see that the cashier was truly on island time and perhaps not entirely on the same planet I was... At least, he was a mile higher than me... He took my order, v e r y s l o w l y...... but once he put it in, I had my food hot and fresh in about 5 minutes. The other employee was actually on his personal cell phone talking while operating the frier and baging the food... I didn't mind since he was operating at a decent pace, but I can only imagine what a corporate manager would say at this sight. The food was fine and actually hot/fresh. The location looked okay (the outside blended in with the old town feel, the inside felt like a small but traditional Wendy's. The prices... wow, $2.39 for the same small frosty that costs $1 back home. Yikes. $1.99 for the value crispy chicken, but oddly the 6 piece nugget was $1.99 (I think its a 4 piece for $0.99, so this wasn't that bad actually). I'll give it a 3 because it got the job done, and actually correctly, at nearly midnight. read more

3-stars is pretty high for a fast food joint on Duval St. in Key West. However, this place saved my friends' lives--okay, hyperbole. But, picture this: 10 drunk runners, 5 of which on cheap bike cruisers, arrive at a nearby bar on a not-so sleepy Sunday afternoon after participating in Ragnar. Two have overestimated their capacity for spirits and are on the verge of being booted from the bar. Correction, they have been booted and are on the sidewalk drunkenly proclaiming, "I need food. Enter yours truly--having recently downed some libations myself--trying to "save" the 2 recently expelled friends and wandering aimlessly down Duval St. looking for fast food. And by fast food, I mean food READY in no fewer than 2 minutes because in my paranoid mind, if my friends don't eat something NOW, they will spiral further into barfland and risk arrest/public intoxication charges/hospitalization and cause me to miss my flight back to LA the next day because I will have lost precious time driving all over the Keys trying to track down their asses. And there is nothing here but sit down restaurants and cookie/ice cream shops!!!! And then, hallelujah! There appeared Wendy's. And their cheese fries. And baked potatoes. And chicken sandwiches. And their FAST service. I was impressed that they accepted American Express!!! Oh Wendy's... a haven for the drunkies. Especially this hot mess. Because apparently, via receipts, I made 2 trips to Wendy's that afternoon and bought a sh*tload of cheese fries. Thank you Wendy's, for your patience and your comfort. Went in this past Saturday and was appalled on the service I got there. The guy running the cash register must have done the St. Pattys day bar crawl or been high out of his mind because it took him 5 minutes to register what I said for my order while he swayed back and forth and giggled to himself. When I asked if I could order a drink he stared at me for another five minutes before ringing it in. He couldn't figure out how to swipe my card and poured me the wrong drink. A below average Wendy's experience compared to previous visits in other parts of the US. I think the guy on the till was learning, everyone has to, I'm ok with that, but he had no customer service skills at all, and didn't speak very clearly so was difficult to understand. Also quite rude. Instead of saying 'what would you like to drink?' He just said 'Drink?' for example. Service at the till was also very slow. There were 3 staff members, but one, a young guy called Anqueles, seemed to be working really hard, practically doing everything, training the guy on the till, cooking the food, serving customers and telling the other staff member what to do. Onto the food. A double dave burger. It was really good. Couldn't fault it. I enjoyed it. The fries were lukewarm and had probably been sitting for a while. On reflection, I should probably have taken them back, but didn't want to wait again. The tables didn't appear to be getting cleaned, or the bins emptied, or the floor mopped, at least whilst I was there. read more

In June of 2017 a few friends and I embarked on a girls trip down to Key West. At night, we would roam around Duval street and each evening no matter what, we would end up at Wendy's. To this day, we still talk about how great this Wendy's was and how exceptional their employee Adrien was. He really went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our 4 piece chicken nugget (which we called mcnuggies- he didn't love that) & medium french fries. We were even blessed with a surprise nuggie - 5 nuggets for the price of 4!!! The women's restroom in this Wendy's was the most vial, disgusting, putrid-smelling restroom I have ever been in. It was hands down, DISGUSTING. The smell was immediately over-bearing, and if I didn't have to pee so bad, I would have held it in. My Beau and I decided to stop at Wendy's located on Duval and Easton St. While placing our orders, the manager and his crew decided to talk about our relationship behind our backs in another language which is the creole language. Unknowingly to them, I happen to speak the creole language being of Haitian descent. I was appalled by the way the manager and crew was degrading and gigiling at our relationship due to us being an interracial couple.
