Weng's is fantastic. I have 3 kids, all are excited at the suggestion of getting Weng's. The portions are large, they are kind, and orders are done very quickly. It costs me considerably less money feeding them this, then fast food, and there are leftovers. read more

I try to go here as much as I can. The food is so amazing and the staff for the most part is just as amazing. I have tried several things off the menu and have only ever had one thing that wasn't my taste and they quickly replaced it with something else. And it wasn't that it was a bad dish, just a totally different take on what I am used to with Ma Po Tofu. I would say my favorites are probably the triple crown, house fried rice, anything with noodles! You really can't go wrong! They cream cheese and crab Rangoon are both awesome..seriously I could go on and on but this pregnant Mama needs to get there for dinner tonight! read more

Best place in and around the Twin Cities? Perhaps. Best Chinese place? No. I do like the friendly service, the cleanliness of the restaurant, and how spacious it is. I ordered the Mongolian Beef (came with white rice), and my partner ordered the House Fried Rice. The Mongolian Beef was just meh. I opted for mild. The beef itself had some flavor which made it past the bland stage, but just not enough for my taste. Also, way too much onions. The dish can do without half the onions. The fried rice was actually good, not that greasy with lots of flavor. Overall, better than a typical Chinese take out. I would've love to give it 3.5 stars, just not a 4 yet. Definitely be back to try other dishes, and possibly their buffet. read more

If you're not sure what you'll like here come for their buffet. I've been here many times for the buffet as well, it's a smaller buffet but I think that's better for the food is always fresh. BEST CHINESE Since moving from Arizona‼ House Egg Rolls are Huge and loaded with lots of ingredients. We had a buffet of Crab Ragoon, Chicken Fried Rice, sesame chicken, Mongolian beef, shrimp pad Thai, orange chicken, tenderloin steak in black pepper sauce. ALL of our choices were delicious and flavorful with fresh ingredients. The dishes that really stood out for me are the chicken fried rice, sesame chicken and tenderloin steak in black pepper sauce. Stopped in around 5pm on a Saturday night. Place was busy! We were thinking about take out and figured what the heck... we'll take it all in!! We were seated right away. Server took a while to get to us but it was quite busy... the menu has many options. We had the hot and sour soup, crispy Shanghai spring rolls. For main course one of us had combination Q- sesame chicken, fried rice and chicken chow mein, I had the chicken pad Thai medium heat. The hot/ sour soup was good to very good. The spring rolls were a must have again! My better half very much enjoyed her combination platter. The chicken pad Thai was great! Nice heat, noodles were cooked perfectly the chicken too was cooked perfectly! Service was very patient and friendly. Rest rooms- men's was clean- though the door entering could use a cleaning. The women's is a single stall... so don't wait until you burst to goto the bathroom. ;) We will definitely return! Cheers! read more

Props to Jim L, I would not have discovered this place without your review. Weng's Kitchen is incredible and deserves mention with the best Asian restaurants in the Twin Cities. Yes it is in Farmington and yes it is in a small strip mall, but the food is incredible. They provide a flip book with color photos of about half of their menu which is needed for someone like me who is entirely visual. I stopped on one of the last pages that shows a half cut pineapple filled with fried rice and chicken...what a great idea! Presentation of this dish is as good as it comes and a must to order, however I wasn't terribly impressed with the chicken, I would certainly try vegetable, pork or beef next time. My favorite dish was the Mu shu pork which I rate a perfect 10. I've never had Mu shu pork so delicious and even the plum sauce was deserving which I typically don't add to it. Even the thin tortilla wraps were better than I've ever had elsewhere and gives any Mexican joint a run for their money. Had the steamed dumplings for appetizer and they are fantastic as well, all around great food, ate way more than I should have. After we had our fortune cookies we received a surprise sticky bun dessert which was a bit too much after all the food we ate. It appears they do a lot of catering so I'm going to look into it for my office. Supposedly the lunch buffet goes out the door so I need to give that a try someday. This is my number 1 surprise restaurant of the year as of now. read more

I will definitely agree with everyone who says that Weng's has some of the best (American) Chinese food around. I ordered from the menu, versus buffet - sounds like the buffet should be avoided. I was very much happy with the food here. Started w/ cream cheese wontons, and those were very enjoyable. Very fresh. What I wanted to eat for my meal was not on the menu, so I shared with our server what I was after. I have been searching menus thoroughly each time I go to a new Chinese place, searching for black pepper chicken, something I have only ever had at a restaurant in IGH. "Black pepper" type sauces are not uncommon but I have not found another place that prepares a similar dish. Well, Weng's DOES offer something called black pepper beef and I asked if they would use that sauce on some regular battered chicken. I didn't think it would sound too strange. The server clearly had not heard this request before but she was encouraging of the idea anyhow and so I went with it. It was MARVELOUS! Bf commented that it was likely the best chicken he has had at a Chinese restaurant. Weng's exceeded my expectations big time. The service was great too. I am excited for the next visit. read more

I just moved here from Chicago and I grew up in an area where you could find the BEST Chinese food. This place absolutely deserves the "best Chinese in Minnesota " award. I was excited to try after reading reviews but cautious as I have been very disappointed in the past trying restaurants outside of Chicago but they did not disappoint. Those Crab Ragoons OMG sooo good. Crispy and sweet just like i like them. The egg rolls are huge ..also just how i like them. I ordered Chicken with Garlic sauce and it was perfect with just a hint of sweetness that was a nice surprise . They definitely earned a new frequent customer. This is my favorite restaurant in the south metro. Everything I eat there has been really great!! My favorite dishes there are beef chow fun, sweet and sour Cantonese style ribs, salt and pepper squid and fresh young coconut milk to top it all off..they even deliver with a 25.00 minimum. I love this Chinese place. The lunch buffet is reasonable and is always hot and good. Great selection the place is totally legit. If your ever in Farmington stop in and check out Wengs. I would agree with the other posts that the owner is extremely friendly and nice. They do a great job. This place was voted best Chinese restaurant in all of Minnesota through Yahoo last year. Wengs is a Farmington staple. I'm glad they survived the COVID pandemic, because they were close to closing. The owner is very friendly and community oriented. The food is great and I would say one of the best south of the river, which is surprising for Farmington. The price is comparable to others and they do a lunch buffet with a fair selection (pre-Covid, unsure right now). Probably the second best Kung Pao I've had in MN. read more

We just moved to the south metro and was looking for our go to Chinese place. I'm happy to say that I think we found it! I was just expecting your typical Americanized sweet and sour Chinese place, but was pleasantly surprised to see that they offered a bit more authenticity on the menu. The multiple yelp reviews had pictures of salt and pepper squid and the lobster in scallion sauce which are pretty legit. We were elated to see that they offered beef chow fun and Hong Kong walnut shrimp though! The Cantonese side of me was floating on a cloud of happiness. :) My only critique is that I saw pictures of the glorious Hawaiian style fried rice and the hollow green veggies (also an authentic dish) on yelp,but could not find them on the menu when we got to the restaurant. I know the reviews were from a year ago, but I'm really hoping they're not "streamlining" their menu to cater to taste, making them the same as the other sad 93% of Chinese restaurants in the metro. I think this place is way over-hyped. Our favorite thing we ordered by far was the Crispy Shanghai Spring Rolls! Wengs Triple Crown didn't have a whole lot of flavor, Pad Thai was boring, Hot and Spicy Chicken was decent. Just overall mediocre compared to other takeout Asian food places I've had. read more

The only reason I'm even giving this restaurant one star is so I can tell you to come never eat here!! Please just listen. None of the food is seasoned. It all taste weird, and their dishes are dirty. Run! Turn around! I am from Oklahoma, and I was living in Minnesota for three months. I went to whatever town you're located in to eat the steak that was very fairly priced. When arriving my friends and I were told it was cash only. We only had cards. We yelped what food was around, and well there's not many choices in the town that we could find. Once we were seated the waiter was very good at his job we taught. We didn't right down anything, and one of my friends can eat a lot. He order maybe six different dishes. We ordered wayy too much food. After the waiter came out with the food we happened to notice he was irritated (possibly with all the food). He gave our appetizer to the only other people in the restaurant, and completely forgot about ours. He also put in the wrong food for what we order, but since we ordered so much we didn't complain. Some of the food was truly "different". We planned on taking the leftovers until we tasted the food, and decided to not eat the food. A few of the people I was with were so fed up with the service they were just to leave. I refused to leave without paying, because that's just wrong. Everyone paid their half, and we left with simply posting on yelp to inform others of this 4.5 star restaurant that deserves 2 stars. read more

Visited Weng's tonight for the third time and after 21 months in Minnesota I can confidently say we have found a great Chinese restaurant! Moved here from the San Francisco area where you couldn't be more than 2 blocks from a great Chinese restaurant and we were struggling to replace our favorite Chinese. We chatted up Joanne our server on our 2nd visit and she was helpful in navigating us towards similar menu items and helping us spice up the dishes to more of what were used to. She nailed it! On our third visit, tonight, she not only remembered us but gave us great suggestions again. Loyal customers now for Wengs and well worth the 13 mile drive from Northfield.
