Love seeing diversity of food and local small businesses in AV. Though "to go" is in the name, they do have 3 tables for dining in and had a high chair for toddlers. All the Malaysian dishes that we ordered were flavorful and authentic. They also served complimentary fruit at the end of the meal which was a pleasant surprise. They also have a few bakery items like custard buns, milk buns, curry buns etc that will only be available on the weekend starting June 2026. Prices for bakery items are slightly expensive for the size ($3.50), but I'll pay just to have easy access to it as there aren't any traditional Asian bakeries nearby. read more

So excited to try the food that I totally forgot to take pics! My friends and I tried the Malaysian chicken satay skewers, mee goreng, and nasi goreng. Everything was packed with authentic flavors! We asked for hot sauce and boy was it spicy and delicious. It's a small restaurant with mostly takeout orders, I noticed. The staff was extremely busy keeping up with the orders and I definitely felt for them. We experienced a pretty long wait but didn't mind since they were very apologetic and even treated us to some refreshing watermelon for dessert, on the house. We ordered the Singapore chow fun (with extra chicken and veggies), sesame chicken with fried rice, chicken gyoza, and cream cheese wontons. Everything was fresh and flavorful. The sesame chicken was amazing, easily the standout, and the chicken quality across all dishes was excellent with generous portions. The Singapore chow fun was delicious and packed with flavor, and the extra protein/veggies was well worth it. The staff was incredibly friendly and even mentioned that if there were any issues with the order, I could call back and they'd make it right. That kind of customer service goes a long way. I am updating my review as my last one was before the ownership change. Spoiler alert, it's still amazing. We were nervous with the ownership change, but the new owners kept the high standards. They have the same hospitality, passion, and skill of the previous owners. While the menu changed a little bit, the food is still completely addicting (banh mi, mee goreng, satay, baked goods... I've only heard good things about this place and after trying them it was worth the hype! I ordered the Singapore chow fun and the pad Thai. Chicken and shrimp are included in both of these entrees which are a nice inclusion. Both dishes are full of flavor and the toppings are fresh. The service is very friendly and attentive. My husband and I come here for lunch when our tires are getting changed. :) We came on a Tuesday around 11:20, and we were the only customers at that point, but it quickly filled up. They've made some changes to the restaurant, and they all seem good. There are glasses of water for the tables, a bit of waiter service, some of the dishes have changed, there was dessert. . . Also, the service is so good, and the lady serving us was very sweet. On a recommendation from the tire guy, we both got Vietnamese coffees - they were amazing! Wow. You people in this area are incredibly fortunate. I used to have a reason to come down to AV and when I did, I would stop by. The menu is different from many moons ago but the freshness is still the same. I had the chicken spring roll and it was amazing. My honey pork Bahn mi, 6", a little more expensive than what I pay in St. Paul, but that isn't that big of a deal. It too was incredibly tasty and fresh. It was close to closing time on Friday (they close at 7:30) so you think you might get something pre rolled. Nope! Everything was made fresh. That's what I loved about this place many moons ago. I have been coming to Satay 2 Go for a few years now as I live in downtown Apple Valley. The quality of their food and diverse menu has always been exceptionally great. They have new owners now and they have done a great job of continuing their excellence with the quality of deliciousness of their food. In fact they have extended their menu to encompass more Vietnamese dishes like Pho and others to make this restaurant a very unique choice that covers many different Asian cuisine such as Malaysian, Korean, Japanese, Singapore, and Vietnamese cuisine. I have tried many dishes on their menu and I have yet to ever be disappointed. I am a huge Asian cuisine connoisseur as well as an Asian food snob so that says alot! You really can't go wrong. In addition I have been to many different Vietnamese restaurants and they have the best Vietnamese coffee I have ever had and they even have their own brand as well! I recently visited Minnesota to visit family. One of the places I visited was Satay 2 Go. This is an authentic Southeast Asian restaurant which served meals and also bakery items that I absolutely loved. I went on a weekday and there was no line. I ended up ordering the Chicken Mee Goreng and Laksa as well as chicken barbecue and chicken curry pastries.   Chicken Mee Goreng -A delicious egg noodle stir fry with flavors reminiscent of the typical Cantonese egg noodle chow mein. This was ordered spicy and had just the right amount of heat. I was extremely impressed with the tastes and would recommend friends to order this. Laksa -Malaysian curry noodle soup with bean sprouts and shredded chicken. The curry broth was made with a coconut milk that perfectly complimented the dish. I would highly recommend taking a spoonful of shredded chicken, bean sprout and noodles along with some coconut curry broth to truly experience all of the exceptional flavors. The Laksa already comes with some spice and is perfect to eat during a cold Minnesotan day. Chicken Barbecue (not pictured) -Hand-sized pastries filled with barbecued chicken. The filling had exceptional flavor and the pastry was light and flaky. Overall, the filling-to-pastry ratio was perfect. Chicken Curry (not pictured) -Hand-sized pastries filled with curry chicken. The filling had a delicious yellow curry flavor and the pastry was light and flaky. Unlike the barbecue chicken, I felt that there could have been more curry chicken filling.   Of note, there's no water or soda fountain. There is a fridge full of canned/bottled beverages for purchase if you plan to order a highly spicy dish. Also, there were plenty of dishes that were sold out. I was looking forward to trying the Japanese pizza which Satay 2 go is known for. Overall, I am happy to have stopped by Satay 2 Go. Their quality of noodle dishes was phenomenal. The staff was extremely friendly and made a positive dining experience. This isn't the type of place you would go to dressed up, no red carpet, no paparazzi, no frills, no scrolling marquee, no fan fair or even bright lights... you won't find these things here. What you will find is a small arrangement of tables, good people and of course good food. The quaint establishment offers delectable bakery items you won't find anywhere outside of the big city, their dishes are decently average priced and offer a good selection of items from Korea, Vietnam, China and India. I don't find myself in Apple Valley that often, but when I do, Satay 2 Go will be a must. I believe they're one of the few authentic Malaysian restaurants in the Twin Cities? I am v grateful for their existence. I ordered and paid online through their site. When I arrived, I signed in and confirmed that I picked up my order. And of course I saw the baked goods in the case and had to add a few more treats to my order. Here's what I got! Roti Canai: Wow. I don't know how this Indian bread could be so flaky yet chewy at the same time, but it is. The chicken curry is delicious to dip the roti in, and then slurp the rest down. Laksa: a Malaysian curry rice noodle soup with bean sprouts, shredded chicken breast and tofu. I don't think I've seen this Malaysian soup elsewhere in MN. It is SO good -- The perfect amount of richness, savoriness, heat and texture! Singapore rice noodles with tofu: again, very balanced and flavorful. The milk bun with melt-in-your-mouth coconut cream was fantastic, the siew pau (chicken bun) had really deep flavor, and I got a bag of fun banana-caramel Kit-Kats! read more

It appears the restaurant has changed hands recently. While the Mee Goreng and Nasi Goreng were still quite delicious, some of my other favorite items Corinne used to make are no longer on the menu. The sweet chili shrimp with coconut jasmine rice is gone, as are the freshly baked chicken siew pau. The pork buns and spring rolls have also changed and are not as good as they used to be. I had to teach myself how to make siew pau, I missed them so much - lots of work, so maybe that is why they are gone. :-( read more

The food was fine to bland. We ordered the chow fun and it didn't have much flavor. The Singapore noodles had a nice curry flavor but the chicken was pretty standard Asian to go reheated flavor. The spring rolls were fresh, but the shrimp was over marinated giving it a grainy texture that melted in your mouth. The egg rolls were disappointing as were the satays. The dipping sauces didn't add much to the experience. We also got a sausage to go roll from the bakery. The bread was sweet and fluffy, but it had a small piece of very tough, thin sausage inside. Delicious! I enjoyed the mee goreng with tofu plus added chicken. The ramen noodles were cooked perfectly -- not mushy even after DoorDashing all the way to my house. The real star, however, was the satay appetizer! The tender chicken was sweet and savory at the same time. This is a great authentic Malaysian restaurant!! The owners are Malaysian and their food taste home cooked! I want to try everything when I get here every time. I like their char kueh teow, hokkien mee, Singapore meehoon, nasi lemak etc. The menu is pretty extensive considering it's like a deli style place. I always see the owners working hard in the back kitchen. The waiter and cashier person is always friendly and it's probably the owner's kid. It's a family affair! This place is really good. I've only had one dish that I get every time now. The Hokkien Mee. It's a noodle dish, I'd assume with chili or a spicy sauce by looking at it but it's really not spicy at all. My new top 5 noodle dish. One of my favorites now. Yumm! My favorite dish was the Singapore Chow Fun (wide noodle dish). Brandon loved the Mee Goreng (thin noodle dish). It was more flavorful than the Chow Fun & tasted so different from the Ramen style Mee Goreng I love. As weird as this may sound my next favorite was the white rice. Whatever they season their rice with, I want it! You can't eat it with chop sticks though, it's not a sticky rice. Thankfully we had a fork so I got some big bites in. They also have a small case with Asian baked goods. We got 3 Chicken Curry Potato pastries (more Indian than Asian), 1 Lemon Bun and 1 Coconut Heart & Raisin bun. The noodles were soo tasty. I love a good fried noodle dish. Dont even get me started on the baked goods here, o m g They do buy 10 breads, get 1 free, so of course i took advantage of that. I loved all of them so much, not even sure which one is my favorite. The red bean buns rock!! The kaya (coconut jam) one was soo good. I've never had that before, but now i'm a big fan! There was only 1 left when I went, so they prob sell out fast cuz they are so tasty. Curry buns had good flavor, with potatoes in the curry, inside the bread!! BBQ pork buns are classic good. The signature "Golden Milky Bun"was heaven! it's filled with soft, delicious cream and soft delicious bread. I loved it so much! Tried some coconut pastry that was good too, reminded me of like coconut macaron w/o the chocolate. I saw some pics online that they sometimes have egg tarts, unfortunately they didn't have an egg tarts when I went :-( I hope some day they do, cuz I love egg tarts! My first couple times at satay 2 go, the service and food was great. The cashier was friendly and food came out fast. The third time, we decided to get take out for our party and I ordered what I thought would be a good amount, but ended up ordering pizza too. I was a bit disappointed in the portions of our to go food compared to what we received in the restaurant. The name of the restaurant has "to go" in it so you would think it would be great. When I got home with our food, I realized the total cost of everything seemed higher than what their prices said online, so I called to ask for the receipt and noticed they charged me an extra 5 satay sticks... I contacted them and luckily they refunded me, but it was a bit of a hassle. The person I spoke to on the phone that took my order seem to have an attitude with me when I asked for the receipt, thinking I was wrong. The Malaysian chicken satay is probably the only thing I would get here again because it is legit really good. I wouldn't get take out here anymore for a party larger than 5+ people, not worth the price. read more
