One of my favorite places to come - during Comic Con. Let me explain. During Comic-Con you can come here and not only have the chance to see a plethora of people sing karaoke (that's a normal Saturday, right?) but they are also dressed like their favorite super hero, anime, comic book and obscure fandom characters. It's fantastic and I love it. (why yes, I might even be wearing a Dr. Who cosplay myself when I'm here then, why do you ask?) Yes, there can be a line, and yes, you might have to stand, but the drinks are great, you'll have a fantastic time, and if you can't get into the fandom party (who can?!) this is a fantastic second option. After a long day of walking around San Diego, my dogs were barking, but Werewolf's Hushpuppies quited them howling canines down to a toe curling woofer pile. It was our first time here and we LOVED IT! We arrived early for brunch on Saturday and were told by the NICEST hostess Ruby that it would be about a 45 min wait for our party of 4. She offered us the option of ordered drinks at the bar and sitting outside to wait for our table. So we got some mimosas and bloody Mary's and chilled until our table was ready. Ruby did a great job communicating where we were on the waitlist (there was a party of 17 and a party of 8 in front of us!). When we got seated, we ordered the san le crute (which is a pb and J French toast with powdered sugar and OMG it was amazing. We also ordered the pork belly Benedict which was also fantastic. The service was good as well. We will definitely be back next time we're in town. We loved everything about this place, especially Ruby! read more

The husband and I felt like a night out but also wanted food. We found this place in Instagram and decided to give it a try. Our bartender Jasmine was great! She made our drinks exactly how we wanted them, got our appetizers out in a timely manner and she even made recommendations on brunch menu items for the next time we want to stop by. When in San Diego, we like to go to Werewolf for lunch or dinner. Really good burgers. We tried breakfast/brunch the next day because we had never had their morning menu. It was ok but not great. On a Sunday night this place is fun! They started karaoke at 9 and it was a vibe. People were in to it the atmosphere was perfect. There is seating outside and inside. Popcorn and water and free and self service which I appreciated. Everyone that was in here as friendly, as were the bartenders who were slammed. I drank the Juicy K all night and I would 100% recommend it! Didn't try any of the food so I cannot comment on that. read more

Stumbled upon this place really for no reason. But I am so glad we did. Let me start by saying it is an experience. When we went, there was karaoke actively happening and everyone in the crowd was super into it, which was great. They have a great beer selection. Unfortunately, the one I chose the keg ran out just as they were pouring so it took a while to get this one- they did offer to get me something else so to no fault of them. The staff are incredible. Each bartender introduced themselves for no reason and did actually remember our names throughout our time there, which was shocking. It's just a fun place, fun vibe, and definitely worth a stop in. read more

Located in downtown San Diego across from Horton Plaza, this smallish spot looks and feels like a dive bar but it's not. The food and cocktails are far, far better and more upscale than you would find in any true dive bar. And I say this with no offense to dive bars, which I love. It's not a dive bar but Werewolf has a lot of character, as werewolves do, I suppose. Most of the appetizers sounded great but our bellies were only big enough for dinner during our visit. We tried the Waterfront sliders (which were very good) and the Bourbon Bacon burger which is basically a western bacon cheeseburger. The burger was just slightly overcooked but the flavor overall was excellent. It's a big burger, by the way. Both dishes came with a ton of fries which were very crispy and well-seasoned. The kitchen here knows what it is doing. For a cocktail, I tried the Aero Club Whiskey Sour which was both beautiful looking and delicious. If you haven't figured it out by now, I believe this place is owned by the same owners as that classic and wonderful San Diego semi-divey bar (Aero Club) and that other classic and semi-divey fun San Diego restaurant (the Waterfront). They apparently do karaoke every night here but we were too early to enjoy it. Our service was off the charts wonderful. The decor is cool and funky. The music playing on the sound system was loud and fun. The long bar counter seemed to be the center of action with a bunch of normal customers looking for food, drinks, and fun, and one semi-crazy person who couldn't stop yelling. Hey, you are in downtown San Diego. You didn't think you would encounter any crazy people? This is a super fun place with great food and excellent service. I didn't see any werewolves, either on the menu or in the restaurant, but I would have given six stars if had seen one. read more

We arrived at 8:45 pm and we got the last open table. The music was loud and there were many choices of sports to watch on the television screens on the wall above the bar. You have to order food and beverages at the bar, so you have to wait in line for a while. But we did not wait long in line, and our food arrived within a reasonable amount of time. Came in for some food and cocktails in the early afternoon. Saw that the reviews were pretty good. The second I walked in, I was greeted very kindly. My boyfriend and I had amazing service from start to finish. The highlights for me were the Juicy K cocktail and if there's one thing you must order here, it's the garlic fries. Honestly eating those fries was an out of body experience. They were some of the crispiest perfectly salted fries ever. Their biscuits in their bisquits and gravy are heavenly. So soft. And their house made sausage gravy was spectacular. Unfortunately I ate so many fries I was unable to finish the biscuits but everything we ate was outstanding, even the cheesy chive scrambled eggs. Quick visit to San Diego for the weekend and after a long day/night of visiting breweries, woke up starving and looking for something fun and different for brunch. When we the last time (if ever) that your waiter came to the table and shook your hand to introduce himself? GREAT service could be seen across the whole place. The breakfast burrito was pretty standard but very tasty. The big winner was the chilaquiles roja. One of the best I have ever eaten in Southern Los Angeles! It's a bit noisy inside with the DJ doing a great job so be ready for some noise, but the whole place is very upbeat and moving so it fits perfectly. Werewolf is an awesome little spot and comes alive at night when the karaoke starts lol. As me and my wife were bar hopping we stopped by at werewolf and enjoyed some of their beers and got some sweet potato fries . Our server Chris was awesome and quick about getting our drinks and food. They have complementary popcorn and water to make sure you can balance off your buzz and the karaoke was a lot of fun. I debated on going up and doing some Led Zeppelin and i regret not doing it . For that very reason we will be back for sure. We also got their Brussel, beats and blue salad with some steak and it was amazing. The roasted Brussels were so good. We will definitely be back. read more

Came back a few years later to find out they have karaoke every night after 9pm!! Get there early because they are on the smaller side, we went around 10 and they were at capacity- so we went elsewhere. People started leaving around 11pm and we got in! I recommend putting in your song request ASAP since they do have a long queue and might not be able to get to it before they close. We love this spot it's a heavy handed and very happy high volume space where the entire wait staff works well together to make things happy for you who patron it! They have the biggest and best portions. We recomend the Bloody Mary and the Bottle Of Champagne accompanied with the breakfast burrito and tacos! They have a great dj and even sell hush puppies which for those of you from the south, it's so nice to see on the west coast! What a fun spot! I don't go downtown often but have been wanting to try Werewolf -- it did not disappoint! In the heart of the Gaslamp, we decided to stop by for brunch before a show at the Civic Theater. Took advantage of Yelp's live waitlist option and was seated shortly after arriving. This is definitely a bar vibe -- there's a live DJ (at noon!) and the place was popping. Many birthday shots and all around a fun vibe -- I'd love to stop by for karaoke sometime. The food is incredible. I got the Pork Belly Benedict and the flavors are so good! I don't think the avocado really added much to the dish though so I wouldn't add it again, but I most definitely would eat that Benny every day if I could. The staff is super friendly and personable. I liked they asked our names and made a point to chat a bit. Right on Fourth, we also got to watch a holiday parade go by that we didn't know about. Super fun. I just wish driving and parking downtown wasn't such a nightmare because I'd haunt this spot. I love the vibes and the food, plus the cocktails looked good as well. read more

I have to give a shoutout to the cook who talked me into trying the chicken hash. I wish I knew his name, because it was the best recommendation! It turned out to be one of the best brunch items I've ever had! The combination of garlic ginger chicken, sunny-side-up eggs, grilled onions, breakfast potatoes, and a touch of sriracha was simply divine. History

Established in 2014.

Werewolf was established by two cousins who also jointly own The Waterfront, San Diego's Oldest Tavern. Growing up in the bar business taught them two things: 1. I really loved the vibe overall. It was lively and chatty, and the staff was super friendly. The ambiance is very dark and classy. Keep in mind they do not serve food here. It is purely drinks only. So when I found availability for 2, I made a special trip down to San Diego just for this speakeasy. After 2 and a half hours of driving, I reached San Diego. I miraculously found street parking on the same block as the bar and made my way inside Asa Bakery. My friend was already waiting for me at a table. He, a San Diego local, told me that he took the bus to avoid the parking situation entirely. Smart man. We were still quite early for our reservation, so I had a latte from Asa Bakery while we waited. During this time, we were trying to figure out where the speakeasy was located. Then we saw a couple enter Asa and press a handicap assistance button near the door to the bakery. A big section of the wall opened up and revealed a swanky looking bar behind it, complete with hosts wearing sleek black vests, button ups, and bow ties - a complete vibe change from the modern bakery we were sitting in. Once it was our seating time, we also made our way over to the secret entrance. Kamon itself felt like a rift in time, as if we were stepping straight into the 1920's. The room was heavily inspired by the Taisho Roman era, the period when Japan was influenced by European romanticism. Decor featured visual harmony between traditional Japanese motifs, such as screen doors and woodblock prints, and influences of the Western Roaring 20's, such as glamorous Art Deco chandeliers, red carpet, and lounge chairs. We were seated next to a beautiful zen garden. The concept of the menu is "omiyage" or souvenirs from different regions of Japan. My friend started with the Tokyo Banana, inspired by the iconic Tokyo Banana cream pastry found all over souvenir shops in Tokyo and Haneda Airport. The spirits in this cocktail were Suntory Toki and rum. I started with the Yame Matcha, inspired by the city of Yame in Fukuoka prefecture, which is reveled among matcha snobs for producing matcha with nutty flavor. The matcha was prepared as a cream top, a nod to matcha lattes, and sat on top of a spirit base of mezcal, Mizu green tea shochu. This drink was so fun and creative. I would've never thought about pairing matcha with mezcal, but surprisingly, it worked very well. The smokiness of the mezcal paired well with the creamy, nutty matcha top and roasted genmaicha flavor. Because of the amazing theme of the menu, we couldn't resist ordering a second round. My friend got the Ao Ichigo, featuring strawberries from the Tochigi prefecture. The spirit for this was a reposado tequila and vodka. This is good if you want a light, refreshing, sweet drink. My second drink was the White Lover, inspired by Hokkaido and its dairy and pastry culture. The spirit for this drink was Sotol, which was also quite smoky. The body of this cocktail was composed of kefir and Calpico, with notes of yuzu and croissant as well. This drink also comes with a "surprise," and to maintain the integrity of said "surprise," I won't tell you what it is! This was probably my favorite drink of the night. As an alum of Asian American college party culture, I have had many drinks mixed with Calpico, so this was my favorite drink of the night because of how close to home it felt. You could almost call it an "omiyage" of USC ahaha... However, I was not the biggest fan of the food here. We both weren't that hungry, so we just got some appetizers, but honestly, I don't remember the food menu being that big anyways. We got the tuna tartare cannolis and the karaage. The tuna tartare was a bit weird for me. I kinda expected it to be fresh and light and silky, as a tartare should be, but I would describe this as more of a... tuna salad? Heavier than I expected... and creamy. And strange. I think it's the mayo. I just didn't like it very much. And the cannoli presentation was fun, but I don't think it's needed. I think just a classic tuna tartare would have been more enjoyable. And the karaage was fine. Not good, not bad. I wouldn't get food here again though.The drinks at Kamon, however, are phenomenal. I love the theme of 1920's Taisho Japan. The ambiance is impeccable. The theme is even integrated into the menu's concept. We had already eaten dinner, so we came for drinks with a small appetizer to share. We ordered the Karaage, Tokyo Banana and Yame Matcha. Service was incredible throughout the night. It took a little bit to get seated since nobody was standing at the host area when we walked in. Someone eventually spotted us through the curtain then quickly came over to help. From there, everyone was attentive. The Karaage came out first. I wish the outside was just a little crispier, but it was still really good. The slaw was actually my favorite part because the acidity paired perfectly with fried chicken, especially while sipping on cocktails. The Yame Matcha was so decadent. It had this beautiful matcha cloud on top with a deeper roasted flavor underneath, almost smokey, that lingered after each sip. Definitely not your typical sweet matcha cocktail. The Tokyo Banana was my favorite. The presentation alone was gorgeous. You get that banana flavor right away, but it still tastes like a proper cocktail rather than a banana dessert. It was definitely strong, so this was one I slowly sipped throughout the night. The hojicha mixed with the banana worked SO well.

The North Park area is a great neighborhood with many different types of food close by. I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Werewolf restaurant in San Diego, and I can confidently say that it exceeded all my expectations. From start to finish, my experience was fantastic. While in the downtown area, we stopped by this place for lunch. The restaurant has a bar type of feel, but don't underestimate the food for a second! The restaurant itself is not very big, but there are a few round booths that might sit a small group. Right when I first walked in, I could tell that the people working there actually seem to enjoy themselves. Smiling, laughing, having a good time. Definitely the mood I want when I'm about to eat! We sat down quickly and our waitress brought us our waters and menus. Looking over the menu, you can tell that it is definitely an Asian fusion type of restaurant. I was hoping to try their brunch items, but it was my own fault for coming so late that they must've switched it out for the brunch menu. Anyway, I got the bulgogi burrito and my SO got the steak tacos. The food came out WAY faster than expected, which made me happy cause I was on the brink of death. The bulgogi burrito was HUGE. It was pretty much the size of a chipotle burrito, but this one was stuffed with better ingredients. On the side, there was also sriracha mayo, which complimented the burrito well. The steak tacos came in 3 street tacos along with a side of beans and rice. Overall for what we paid (around 12.95 each), I think it was a great value. The portions exceeded our expectations. Overall, I'm glad we stopped at Werewolf for lunch. Definitely recommend, esp with how big the entrees are. With the decor and AWESOME food, it definitely sets it apart from other restaurants I've been to. read more

whenever we are in downtown, we always end up at Werewolf at some point before heading home. And it's no coincidence, either. This place is awesome! The atmosphere is so cool like they only allow really cool/fun people inside or something) and the staff is always great. One time we went there for breakfast,the Breakfast balls were so beyond amazing. Cheesy HushPuppy type balls covered in Country Gravy, sprinkled wtih Bacon & Scallions, I'm salivating as I write this. Next time definitely will try the Quesadilla Huevos Rancheros! Let's continue about the coffee that is served here. Coffee usually is watery and not enough flavor when served at these type of restaurants, but boy I am so glad I tried it. It was actually good. Nicely roasted and didn't have a bitter tasting and not watery at all. I love the food here. Each time i order something new, i end up with a new favorite menu item. Currently, I am in love with the Papa Balls, who doesn't love a good ball every now and then. The brussel sprouts are tasty here. Their calamari is steak strips, not the chewy calamari rings that you can typically find at restaurants. Their garlic chicken wings are definitely finger lickin good. I have had a burger or two here. While thumbing through the many restaurant options out in the Gaslamp District in San Diego, Werewolf came highly rated and the pics looked errrmazing. Being that it was a Saturday morning, the joint was packed. I opted for bar seating to avoid the wait. My order: Homer Pancakes - Now this is a kid's dream. Piled high, these four flap jacks have raspberry jam spread in between and then smothered overtop is a vanilla icing, showered generously with rainbow sprinkles. My first bite caught me by surprise because despite my aversion to sugary stuff, I actually really enjoyed the balance of sweetness and fruit flavors. The pancakes were hot and moist. And YES these pancakes highly resembled the taste of donuts. Homer would approve. Pork Belly Benedict - This came highly recommended, although I was a bit disappointed because the pork belly was tough to chew on and the poached eggs were cooked solid. The maple glaze on the pork belly was really nice though and the potato pancakes were crunchy and filling. I definitely think this dish would've benefited with a thinner cut of pork belly, and of course, a silkier preparation of poached eggs. I was missing my runny yolk :( Come early for breakfast on weekends because this place fills up fast. They have bar like out door seating as well as tables for those who enjoy a bit more sun. Folks, let me tell you about Werewolf. What a place! It's not just a bar--it's an experience, okay? I've been to bars all over the world--some fancy, some fun--but this? This is next-level. It's wild. It's exciting. It's tremendous. First off, the theme. Werewolf. Genius. You walk in, and it's like you've entered a secret, moonlit world. Dark, edgy, but classy. Very classy. I said, "This is the kind of place where deals happen. Big deals." And I was right--there's a real energy here. The food? Incredible. The wings? Huge. The nachos? Piled so high, it's like they're trying to build a nacho wall--and it works, folks. It works beautifully. And the cocktails? WOW. I ordered many and let me tell you, it's probably some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Strong, smooth, and big league. The vibe? Electric. The music is just loud enough to keep you pumped but not so loud you can't hear your own brilliant thoughts. And the staff? Fantastic. Friendly, fast, total winners. They even served breakfast shots to spice up the morning. It's the little things, folks. Attention to detail. I definitely don't get the rave reviews. This definitely qualifies as one of those places that's 'just another bar.' They offer burgers, sandwiches, and a small selection of other stuff for food. They have an open bar and advertise 6-7 beers and some $10+ cocktails on their menu. They also have 'bowls' for $40 I think. There were 6 or 7 other people in the bar there for dinner at 7pm. We ordered burgers and beers (basic at ~$9 to complex up to $13 or $14. Comes with fries). The food was not memorable--I've enjoyed Denny's burgers better. I asked for medium rare and still got a well done patty. The beer selection was OK and not horribly priced at $6.50 in Gaslamp. The cocktail menu looked interesting, but at $10-$12 a drink, I wasn't enticed to try anything. Dinner for 2 with drinks will run you north of $40. And, the service is definitely not attentive--we got a couple of those "How are you doing?" interrogatories over a shoulder while running to another table without waiting to hear a response. Sticky tables and not so clean bathroom, even in the early evening. I do wonder if the early evening experience is just not as good as the late night one, though that probably wouldn't apply to the cleanliness. This place has it all, and all I could wish for is one to open right here in Reno! Do you here that Werewolf? We're the Wild West down here. So much opportunity. Most bars are just bars, no food. You would kill! Stellar draft list. High quality bar food, presented well and served fast. Friendly AF staff who are characters themselves, clearly dig the guests and do nothing but amp up the vibe. Crafty cocktails that are perfectly suited to the concept and affordably priced. All served up in a colorful and comfortable atmosphere. I'm trying to remember all I ate now. I remember really enjoying the wings, which. were big and beautiful. I IG by suggest ordering em extra crispy if that's your style. The pork belly Sando was another hit, with thick cut belly and all the Asian fusion flavor I was looking for in it. I also tried the fried potato balls. I had been hearing really great things about this shop from all of my friends. So, smartly I decided that it actually might be time for me to give this place a shot. I drove down here with a good friend of mine, and we invited a few of our other friends to also come down here with us. The place was super fun, and all of the people were really excited and wanted to have a blast. It was an incredible environment, one which you will truly enjoy if you know how to have a good time. They've even got a karaoke machine going which is hilarious, and fun. Of course, most of the people singing can't sing very well but when you've had a few drinks you start to think you sound good (Yes, this happened to me). Drinks are reasonably priced, in my opinion all place like this are expensive when it comes to drinks. Although, it was about average price for going out and drinking. Been to food network praised restaurants in sd such as aqui es tescoco and even similarly trendy joints such as juniper & ivy and have to say that this place stands out as a gem within the rough of gas lamp. Quality ingredients, reasonable prices, bold recipes with dynamic ingredients that compliment the dish in a progressive way. Service is reminiscent of a business that is naturally passionate about the food they serve and what they do. Bryan took care of us, great guy went the extra mile for my girls bday. Definitely go between breakfast and lunch (1230-1p) when they're switching over their kitchen so you can try the pork belly Benedict found on their breakfast menu. Ask them to dress up for your bday, they'll Also give you their house BDAY cocktail shots with a strip of bacon on the side-juicy and surprisingly compliments the cocktail well. We decided to visit Werewolf after reading great Yelp reviews, seeking refuge from the eternal waitlist at Morning Glory. The huge advantage of being able to join the Yelp waitlist through the app made our decision even easier, and we certainly didn't regret it. It was the perfect start to our day with our out-of-town friends, and we had an absolute blast. The ambiance was lively and fun, especially as our friends were celebrating their engagement. Our wonderful server even brought shots for them, announcing their engagement to the whole restaurant. If it was so much fun during brunch, I'm curious to explore it at night! As for the food, OMG, we loved absolutely everything! The chilaquiles were incredibly tasty, while my husband and one of our friends thoroughly enjoyed the California burrito. The soon-to-be-bride ordered the Country Fried Steak, and I believe she's still raving about it. Overall, Werewolf is a definite 10/10 spot to visit. read more

Im not usually a positive yelper, I typically only yelp when I am disappointed; However, Werewolf exceeded my expectations and I just couldn't help but rave about them on yelp. We came on a Tuesday morning for brunch, and I immediately thought, "why don't I come here more often on my lunch break?". The service was exceptional, we were greeted by Nick and JT as we walked in and as soon as we sat down the service just kept getting better. Our drinks were brought to us rapidly, the food came to us quickly, and they were continuously nice and friendly to us. We ended up ordering the chilaquiles and the breakfast quesadilla, and I can honestly say it was the best breakfast I have ever had. I have been daydreaming about it since I've ordered it. Needless to say, best place to eat and grab a drink in downtown for friendly service and an awesome atmosphere. Come here if you want an amazing lunch with just a short hour lunch break. read more

Also, if you're visiting with a baby or stroller, be aware that the restaurant is not particularly stroller-friendly. We had to carry our stroller up the stairs, which was difficult and inconvenient, especially with a baby. Overall, the experience left us disappointed before we even had the opportunity to try the food. We were really looking forward to having breakfast here, but the way the situation was handled made us feel unwelcome. Hopefully the restaurant can improve its communication regarding reservations and walk-ins, as well as accessibility for families with young children.

She apologized for the wait and explained how busy they were, which we appreciated, but unfortunately, the food just didn't make up for it.
