Food (5/5 stars): If you're at Gaslamp in San Diego, I highly recommend Werewolf! Their Pork Belly Benedict made it to my all-time top 3 benedicts. The pork belly was obviously the highlight. It was so fatty, crispy, juicy, savory, sweet... I could go on. The eggs were poached to perfection. And the maple glaze brought all elements of the dish together so well; I think there were even hints of apple and cinnamon. Chef's kiss! Experience (5/5 stars): * Price: a tad pricey but very worth * Wait Time: minimal wait on a Thursday at 11am * Service: very good and friendly * Parking: it's only street parking, which can be difficult in Gaslamp (but not too expensive) * Ambiance: it's an edgy all-American that's beautifully decorated read more

We enjoyed our breakfast at the Werewolf. A short walk from our hotel. I recommend the pork belly eggs Benedict, it's on the Sweet side... sweet and savory. Visiting from LA and we wanted to try this spot before we go to Balboa park. We ordered the breakfast burrito and added steak to it and we got the chicken fried steak. The breakfast burrito was very good and filling! They did not skimp on the meat. It would be nice if they had a spicer sauce to go with it, but it was good. The chicken fried steak was solid too. Both meals came packing with protein and taste. I would come back if I ever visit SD again. Service was great too, very attentive and always checked on us. Atmosphere was loud and it felt like where college kids would come to hang out and have a drink. read more

Just following up the in-person praise I gave Fiona after our delicious breakfast Sunday morning. I've been going to Werewolf for many years and mentioning it to my wife, but we'd never gone. We were staycationing downtown in association with a professional conference and used the opportunity to go together. Thankfully, we arrived minutes before the place became packed. My wife and I sat at the bar where we met Fiona. She was a delight. Bright, intelligent and very affable. My wife has dietary "issues" (anaphylactic dairy protein allergy and Celiacs), which makes eating out an adventure. Fiona listened and understood and was earnest in her efforts to confirm a safe meal for my wife. It immediately put my wife at ease. Fiona also creatively adapted a specialty cocktail so it was safe for her. As the crowd swelled, we saw additional staff arriving. The genuine camaraderie exhibited between staff members is a great sign. Happy staff = happy dining. Fiona then transitioned into more of a management role and Justin took over bar duties. He got Fiona's recipe and duplicated it. He hooked me up with a delicious Irish coffee. Our food arrived and it was soooo good! Chicken Fried Steak, cheesy chive eggs and a biscuit for me, adapted Pork Belly Benedict for my wife. Food came out hot. Mine was perfect. Hers was delicious, including 3 perfectly poached eggs. There were other staff we had interactions with, but didn't get their names. But the teamwork ethic shown through with each one of them. I have long enjoyed the chill atmosphere. It is like a dive bar meets diner, but elevated somehow. Combined with great personnel, it just makes for a fabulous experience and it was a great introduction to Werewolf for my wife. We will be back, soon! read more

This is my first time eating at Werewolf American Pub! Its a really cool concept and I love the vibes of the place. Ambiance: There is loud music playing and a loud noise level. There is a lot of seating: booths, barstools, and high top tables. There is medium level lighting and lots of colorful lights! Service: The service is only decent, there wasn't very many customers but I feel like they didn't check up on our table that often. I had to call over the waiter multiple times if I needed anything. Biscuits and Gravy: There was a lot of food and it was overall tasty. It was a light gravy and not a strong flavor. There was also lots of eggs and potatoes on the side. However, I did have to request extra gravy because there was not enough for the size of the biscuit. Pancakes: It is a very basic dish and it wasn't that special. There wasn't too much flavor and just overall very mediocre. I wish there was something to make it more special for the vibes of this place. read more

My mom's having a great time here so it's family friendly. I got the breakfast burrito. The pancakes are good too. It's fun, loud and the most happening place in San Diego, the bartenders are sexy. If you're in the mood for good vibes, great food, and even better people, Werewolf is the place to be! From the moment we sat down, the staff blew me away -- some of the friendliest servers and bartenders I've ever met. Multiple staff members checked in on us throughout the night, and their food and drink recommendations were spot on. You can really feel that they care about the experience. Now the food -- wow. The wings were absolutely amazing (crispy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked). I also tried the Buffalo salad and the breakfast balls, and both were so good I'd order them again in a heartbeat. This is the perfect Sunday football brunch. Every tv had a different game. Staff in jersey. They even had a DJ playing all the 90s hiphop/rnb jams with of course current pop. The entire staff deserves a Golden Global or Staff of the Year or whatever your honor the top group of hospitality. Its not really a dedicated person per customer more entire staff helping which I like. They were friendly, engaging, gave incredible recommendations, attentive but overbearing. They really made the experience. My favorite was the attention to detail with the birthday shoutout. The amount of food is massive! I could not eat the remainder of the day. I had the country fried steak breakfast which is fatty and perfect for soaking up Saturday's hangover. The beer menu is very extensive. Try the orange creamsicle beer drink. Great food and good vibes. It's a bit loud (due to music) so I don't recommend bringing kids although I did see a table with kids. I had the country fried steak and it was one of the best country fried steaks I've had. I'm not crazy about getting scrambled eggs at restaurants but it was also very delish! The potato's were a bit burnt though. The pork belly Benedict was good too. Very flavorful. Our server was great. However, double check your receipt people! They bring the credit card terminal to your table which showed the final price so I assumed it was correct. After paying, I was able to get the receipt sent via text which showed that we got charged extra for a drink we didn't order. We haven't left yet because we were going to split the bill doing Venmo so that's how we found out about the extra charge. It was a bit of a headache because they had to figure it while our meter ran out (thankfully didn't get a ticket). I recommend checking your receipts before leaving. read more

Every picture posted here is everything we religiously get when we visit and it is ALWAYS amazing. I crave that beet salad more than anything in this world. That's how amazing it is! The pancakes are savory and out of this world! And yes I get the cinnamon and lemon one every time. They do let you get just 1 pancake. Those wings . Gosh damn those wings are phenomenal. Above all the staff is what also keeps us coming back. They remember us as soon as we sit down considering we religiously go every morning when visiting San Diego and they feel like family. To be honest I love brunch and Werewolf had good ratings but I was a little disappointed. The waiter recommended the pork belly Benedict and I've had amazing versions at other restaurants. I wasn't a huge fan. The sauce it came with was a little too sweet and it didn't have a side. Overall one of the only meals on my San Diego trip I didn't love. read more

Came here for a bachelorette brunch for my sister. Fun upbeat vibe with amazing music. Greeted with warm smiles. Was in town with my wife. She was attending a conference I was just there to relax. I saw the reviews for Werewolf and the Pork-belly Benedict and he'd to give it a go. If you are looking for a quiet breakfast brunch location to take your granny this is not your place. Werewolf has a DJ with a great selection of music. Being on my own I sat at the bar and the bar staff did a great job keeping me supplied with drinks. The Pork-belly Benedict lived up to expectations. Yes yes yes yes!!! Staying over by seaport village we wanted a nice breakfast before heading back home and Yelp to the rescue! A quick search found us this gem which is so up my ally it should be my address. Funky decor and disco music. Probably the best most friendly service ever (Fiona is freaking awesome!). Hubby ordered the cake and eggs. I got the pork belly Benedict which was out of this world amazing. They even made a great espresso martini which is hard to come by. Awesome food decent prices and we will definitely come back at night next time we are in town for karaoke! Can't say enough great things about this place. read more

I'll start off by saying the food was fantastic. But what really made my families visit memorable was the service. Taylor our server went above and beyond. It's a busy comic con day but he still took the time to be nice to my 5 year old son who was exhausted after a long weekend - He was dressed up as hulk and every time Taylor would drop off at our table he'd make a reference to how he needs help from "the strong man". Little interactions like this are what make a place great. Plus the pork belly Benedict he recommended was AMAZING. A divey little bar in the Gaslamp, Werewolf is the best spot to get great food, ice cold drafts, strong cocktails, and hang out with fun people. With thousands of reviews and a 4.5 star rating on Yelp, Werewolf is most known for it's amazing brunches served till 3pm. Werewolf was established by two cousins who also jointly own The Waterfront, San Diego's Oldest Tavern. Growing up in the bar business taught them two things: 1. Peanut Butter and Jelly Hamburgers, while actually quite tasty, don't sell. 2. Love what you do, or don't do it. They hope Werewolf will be a consistent spot to go for good food, good drinks, karaoke, and a nice time.

Meet the Manager: Amber W.

Amber is Werewolf's president in charge of customer and happiness relations. Making sure each and every guest of the Werewolf and happiness merge together as one to form a union that lasts the duration of each visit and approximately 92 minutes thereafter. Also known to kill it on the Karaoke stage.

They said they could give us another restaurant recommendation and then proceeded to just dismiss us without even that courtesy. We go back to verify this age limit, and it's there... one TINY line 2 scrolls down on the page, WAY beyond any of the information needed to just book a table, which is the only thing Open Table is used for. Complete waste of time for a poorly advertised bar with zero helpful staff on a dumpy street by the airport.

I love coffee (specifically strong espresso drinks), so I asked for a strong, coffee infused, punchy cocktail, but with a different base of alcohol from the old fashioned. What came out was the best cocktail I will probably ever have in my life. The bourbon cocktail with coffee liqueur (and a number of other garnishes I will never remember) hit the bullseye. Flavorful, strong, bold, delicious all at the same time. Unfortunately (?), this was a noble experiment so I'll forever be chasing the white whale of what this drink was. But that's the allure.

We wanted to share the tomato bisque so we asked for bowls and spoons. We had to ask for bowls and spoons three times. They finally brought out bowls but no spoons. Ummmmm....3 words in 1. Ahhh...mazzzz.....ing..... literally we were looking for a cool spot to get one last meal before the flight to Florida. But then the waiter disappeared for a while. I honestly just tho k more people were arriving & he forgot to come back. No biggie. A gentlemen, short scruffy beard kinda...was like hey..have y'all been Helped? He immediately apologized & took our orders without writing anything down. So we were impressed by the customer service for sure! Everyone was super friendly! Our food came out fast & piping hot! It looked delicious. We had the Chilaquiles Rojas (w chicken) & the pork belly Benedict. We also had the Irish coffees. Let's start w the coffee....warm to my palate. A little nutmeg and froth on top...and the liquor was strong & smooth...like we like but not overpowering. It was DAMN good! The Chilaquiles Rojas...ohhh hot damn! This was so good! The egg was cooked perfectly! The spice gave it just the right amount of kick. I didn't have to add hot sauce, salt pepper or anything! Kudos to whoever thought this up and cooked it to perfection. While in the downtown area, we stopped by this place for lunch. The restaurant has a bar type of feel, but don't underestimate the food for a second! The restaurant itself is not very big, but there are a few round booths that might sit a small group. Right when I first walked in, I could tell that the people working there actually seem to enjoy themselves. Smiling, laughing, having a good time. Definitely the mood I want when I'm about to eat! We sat down quickly and our waitress brought us our waters and menus. Looking over the menu, you can tell that it is definitely an Asian fusion type of restaurant. I was hoping to try their brunch items, but it was my own fault for coming so late that they must've switched it out for the brunch menu. Anyway, I got the bulgogi burrito and my SO got the steak tacos. The food came out WAY faster than expected, which made me happy cause I was on the brink of death. The bulgogi burrito was HUGE. It was pretty much the size of a chipotle burrito, but this one was stuffed with better ingredients. On the side, there was also sriracha mayo, which complimented the burrito well. The steak tacos came in 3 street tacos along with a side of beans and rice. Overall for what we paid (around 12.95 each), I think it was a great value. The portions exceeded our expectations. Overall, I'm glad we stopped at Werewolf for lunch. Definitely recommend, esp with how big the entrees are. With the decor and AWESOME food, it definitely sets it apart from other restaurants I've been to. read more

whenever we are in downtown, we always end up at Werewolf at some point before heading home. And it's no coincidence, either. This place is awesome! The atmosphere is so cool like they only allow really cool/fun people inside or something) and the staff is always great. One time we went there for breakfast,the Breakfast balls were so beyond amazing. Cheesy HushPuppy type balls covered in Country Gravy, sprinkled wtih Bacon & Scallions, I'm salivating as I write this. Next time definitely will try the Quesadilla Huevos Rancheros! Let's continue about the coffee that is served here. Coffee usually is watery and not enough flavor when served at these type of restaurants, but boy I am so glad I tried it. It was actually good. Nicely roasted and didn't have a bitter tasting and not watery at all. I love the food here. Each time i order something new, i end up with a new favorite menu item. Currently, I am in love with the Papa Balls, who doesn't love a good ball every now and then. The brussel sprouts are tasty here. Their calamari is steak strips, not the chewy calamari rings that you can typically find at restaurants. Their garlic chicken wings are definitely finger lickin good. I have had a burger or two here. This place has really great service! Nick the bartender, you're awesome! The food was good and prices were reasonable for what you get. I will be back! read more

While thumbing through the many restaurant options out in the Gaslamp District in San Diego, Werewolf came highly rated and the pics looked errrmazing. Being that it was a Saturday morning, the joint was packed. I opted for bar seating to avoid the wait. My order: Homer Pancakes - Now this is a kid's dream. Piled high, these four flap jacks have raspberry jam spread in between and then smothered overtop is a vanilla icing, showered generously with rainbow sprinkles. My first bite caught me by surprise because despite my aversion to sugary stuff, I actually really enjoyed the balance of sweetness and fruit flavors. The pancakes were hot and moist. And YES these pancakes highly resembled the taste of donuts. Homer would approve. Pork Belly Benedict - This came highly recommended, although I was a bit disappointed because the pork belly was tough to chew on and the poached eggs were cooked solid. The maple glaze on the pork belly was really nice though and the potato pancakes were crunchy and filling. I definitely think this dish would've benefited with a thinner cut of pork belly, and of course, a silkier preparation of poached eggs. I was missing my runny yolk :( Come early for breakfast on weekends because this place fills up fast. They have bar like out door seating as well as tables for those who enjoy a bit more sun. Folks, let me tell you about Werewolf. What a place! It's not just a bar--it's an experience, okay? I've been to bars all over the world--some fancy, some fun--but this? This is next-level. It's wild. It's exciting. It's tremendous. First off, the theme. Werewolf. Genius. You walk in, and it's like you've entered a secret, moonlit world. Dark, edgy, but classy. Very classy. I said, "This is the kind of place where deals happen. Big deals." And I was right--there's a real energy here. The food? Incredible. The wings? Huge. The nachos? Piled so high, it's like they're trying to build a nacho wall--and it works, folks. It works beautifully. And the cocktails? WOW. I ordered many and let me tell you, it's probably some of the best cocktails I've ever had. Strong, smooth, and big league. The vibe? Electric. The music is just loud enough to keep you pumped but not so loud you can't hear your own brilliant thoughts. And the staff? Fantastic. Friendly, fast, total winners. They even served breakfast shots to spice up the morning. It's the little things, folks. Attention to detail. I definitely don't get the rave reviews. This definitely qualifies as one of those places that's 'just another bar.' They offer burgers, sandwiches, and a small selection of other stuff for food. They have an open bar and advertise 6-7 beers and some $10+ cocktails on their menu. They also have 'bowls' for $40 I think. There were 6 or 7 other people in the bar there for dinner at 7pm. We ordered burgers and beers (basic at ~$9 to complex up to $13 or $14. Comes with fries). The food was not memorable--I've enjoyed Denny's burgers better. I asked for medium rare and still got a well done patty. The beer selection was OK and not horribly priced at $6.50 in Gaslamp. The cocktail menu looked interesting, but at $10-$12 a drink, I wasn't enticed to try anything. Dinner for 2 with drinks will run you north of $40. And, the service is definitely not attentive--we got a couple of those "How are you doing?" interrogatories over a shoulder while running to another table without waiting to hear a response. Sticky tables and not so clean bathroom, even in the early evening. I do wonder if the early evening experience is just not as good as the late night one, though that probably wouldn't apply to the cleanliness. This place has it all, and all I could wish for is one to open right here in Reno! Do you here that Werewolf? We're the Wild West down here. So much opportunity. Most bars are just bars, no food. You would kill! Stellar draft list. High quality bar food, presented well and served fast. Friendly AF staff who are characters themselves, clearly dig the guests and do nothing but amp up the vibe. Crafty cocktails that are perfectly suited to the concept and affordably priced. All served up in a colorful and comfortable atmosphere. I'm trying to remember all I ate now. I remember really enjoying the wings, which. were big and beautiful. I IG by suggest ordering em extra crispy if that's your style. The pork belly Sando was another hit, with thick cut belly and all the Asian fusion flavor I was looking for in it. I also tried the fried potato balls. They have a clever name on the menu, and they're good! All in all, if I lived in SD I think this spot would become a regular hang. It has all the right ingredients for me! read more

Werewolf is a fantastic restaurant located in the heart of San Diego. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, with a rustic decor. The menu features a variety of delicious dishes, including juicy burgers, tasty sandwiches, and creative salads. The star of the menu, however, is the breakfast burrito! The drinks menu at Werewolf is also impressive, with a wide selection of craft beers, cocktails, and wines available. His service is excellent. The hostess was also super professional and friendly too! Jacob the cook did an OUTSTANDING job! The prices are reasonable, and the portions are generous, making it a great value for the quality of the food. I had been hearing really great things about this shop from all of my friends. So, smartly I decided that it actually might be time for me to give this place a shot. I drove down here with a good friend of mine, and we invited a few of our other friends to also come down here with us. The place was super fun, and all of the people were really excited and wanted to have a blast. It was an incredible environment, one which you will truly enjoy if you know how to have a good time. They've even got a karaoke machine going which is hilarious, and fun. Of course, most of the people singing can't sing very well but when you've had a few drinks you start to think you sound good (Yes, this happened to me). Drinks are reasonably priced, in my opinion all place like this are expensive when it comes to drinks. Although, it was about average price for going out and drinking. Fun environment, relaxing cool people. Another bonus is if you're single their are a lot of guys and gals looking to meet up. read more

Been to food network praised restaurants in sd such as aqui es tescoco and even similarly trendy joints such as juniper & ivy and have to say that this place stands out as a gem within the rough of gas lamp. Quality ingredients, reasonable prices, bold recipes with dynamic ingredients that compliment the dish in a progressive way. Service is reminiscent of a business that is naturally passionate about the food they serve and what they do. Bryan took care of us, great guy went the extra mile for my girls bday. Definitely go between breakfast and lunch (1230-1p) when they're switching over their kitchen so you can try the pork belly Benedict found on their breakfast menu. Ask them to dress up for your bday, they'll Also give you their house BDAY cocktail shots with a strip of bacon on the side-juicy and surprisingly compliments the cocktail well.
