Walked-in for an impromptu shoe repair. It was only a single shoe of the pair but he recommended to do both shoes just to be safe. Proprietor asked for a time-line of how soon the repair was needed. Stay away from this place! I went in today to have my son's boots stretched, I asked a few questions about the process and how he goes about it. Asked about the leather and how long the process takes. Apparently you can't asked any questions or voice any concerns at this establishment. He (owner) started writing up my ticket and then told me he was going to pass. I asked why and he said " I'm just going to pass" I told him that I was simply asking a few questions!!! Is that not allowed!?! He didn't reply or have any real explanation. Never again! So much for trying to support a local small business, this man doesn't value his customers ! I broke a strap on my Louis Vuitton crossbody. I have had it for decades, and honestly, I was emotionally attached to it. Usually I take it to a Louis Vuitton shop where they assess if the fix is worth the cost for the condition of the bag, and if so, it takes a couple of months for the repair. Granted, the repair is flawless; however, I thought I just needed a basic sewing on of the strap - it didn't need to be perfect. I took it to Wes's Shoe Repair. The price and turnaround time were inexpensive and fast. I was so happy with the repair, I also took in my Louis Vuitton backpack because the zipper stopped working. I brought a pair of heels to have the heel taps replaced and the employee or possibly the owner quoted me a price and then I asked if he could fix a scuff on the shoe and then he become extremely rude and condescending to me. He then told me that he can't do the job and walked away. Wow, What just happened? I was going to have a basic shoe tap replaced and the employee just turns down business and is dismissive and rude to me. Deplorable behavior ! Maybe the shoe glue is getting to someone! I've never had a good experience at this shoe repair shop. The first time i used it, i took a pair of my daughters brand new shoes in. She wears braces and needed a small amount of Velcro added to the straps of her Mary Jane shoes so that they would fit her braces. Wes charged me $15 to add the Velcro to the straps. And, it wasn't a tidy job because the girl at the counter didn't know that her father said the shoes would be ready that day so she did a quick job. Overpriced but functional, fine, better luck next time. The 2nd time I went in with a pair of boots I got from Ross. The material had torn away from the sole on one, which created a hole near the toe. The owner put his nose up and wrinkled it when he looked at the boot. He said it was pleather and that he couldn't do anything about it. Really? A snooty shoe repair dude? I've never dealt with a shoe repair shop this awful. For years I used Barry's shoe repair in Sunnyvale before we moved to Gilroy. His work was always stellar, beautiful work at an affordable price and I was never turned away. This shop's clearly reaping the benefits of being the main shoe repair in town. But they aren't the only shoe repair shop, there is another that I'm going to try on 10th street. I purchased a beautiful new pair of Ariat boots on Tuesday but they were a bit tight on the calf so I decided to take them to Wes' shoe repair to be stretched.
