Brake pad deemed "just fine" by West Broad VW

Had a new retractable sunroof screen installed for 2K. Nice job but roof been leaking massive amounts of water ever since. 2 " of water in back floor every time it rains. Have to keep car in garage. Cannot take the car out in the rain. Seems like everything they "fix" or "repair" creates new issues. Had similar problem with brakes previously. Asked them to check for grinding noise. They said all was well. I knew better; took the car elsewhere same day and they replaced pads that were metal on metal.

First time having my daughter's car serviced here. Got a recall notice and it was easy to make the appointment. I picked a 7:30 am appointment and arrived at 7:29. The service guy came over and said they weren't open yet and locked the door. A few minutes later he came and opened the door for me to drive the car in. I'm used to having my car serviced at CarMax and they are always so friendly, so it was definitely different to have a service person who was indifferent at best. The waiting room was better than CarMax with different drink options (coffee, water, juices) and they had some packaged muffins. They were quick in making the repair...I think I waited for 45 minutes. I don't think the service guy cracked a smile the entire time, even when I wished him a Happy Thanksgiving. Guess that's why I keep buying cars (and having them serviced) from CarMax.

Last week I called to get an estimate and schedule an appointment to have a part put on my car , after speaking w. a lady in service she informed me the price for the part as well as labor. After I notified her that I had my own part, she placed me on a brief hold to ensure it was okay for me to bring my own. She then transferred me to the parts department where I spoke w. a man (names never mentioned) who told me that was okay and the price for labor. I asked if the time was still okay or if I needed to be transferred back to the lady to confirm and he said I was all set for Tuesday at 9am. Concluding the call , I typed the info in my notes so that I would not forget. Today, after traveling an hour to dealership, I'm told they cannot find an appointment anywhere. Bobby argued with me, asking a name of who I spoke with and if I received a confirmation email.I showed him the phone call from my log and suggested he ask his staff who spoke with me on that day because I was unsure and didn't think I would need that information. In conclusion, the only resolution he had was for me to be squeezed in and charged an additional $200 than what I was quoted the week prior. Not sure why I should be inconvienced for an error not made on my end. I'm clearly unable to schedule my own appointment or send myself a confirmation email since I'm the customer and not an employee, and surely wouldn't have wasted my time or gas. Honestly beyond ridiculous and very unprofessional. I would have respected if whomever quoted me the wrong price , to call back and mention it ahead of time instead of allowing me to waste 2 hours of my day coming to an appointment that was magically deleted after speaking with not 1 but 2 team members from this location.

Nice waiting lounge, free beverages, baked goods and hot popcorn machine!

I asked each dealer to provide written quotes so I could compare everything clearly and consistently. I detailed the exact specs/trim I was looking for. Prior to sending that message, about a week previously I did visit this dealership in person and completed a test drive. They were friendly during this visit, and I liked that they left me take the vehicle out by myself with no time constraints. Following that visit, I received multiple follow-ups, every day, over the next week across texts, phone calls, and emails (all on the same day). While I understand the importance of follow-up, the frequency felt excessive--especially since I had not responded or engaged further. When it came time to give me quotes, communication didn't align with my request to handle things in writing. Instead of receiving a clear written quote early on, I was asked to discuss details over the phone. I had specifically asked to keep communication via email to stay organized. The initial quote I did receive was for a vehicle with over 7,000 miles, which I later confirmed was a manager-driven/demo vehicle. The mileage was not disclosed from the outset, and the pricing was not competitive compared to other dealers offering actual new vehicles. After that, there were attempts to reconnect and reset the conversation, but I never received a clean, written quote on a new vehicle that matched my requested configuration. Just a request for me to call them on the phone and talk. I already had six quotes in hand from other dealers on vehicles with 0 to 15 miles, with all but one of them cheaper than what they quoted for a car with 7,000+ miles on it. In the end, I chose to move forward with another dealer who gave a great quote the first time in writing, included an accessory package as well, and made it a simple and straightforward process. I trust these folks are nice people based on my initial interactions, but folks are usually nice when they are trying to attract a sale. I appreciate the effort to follow up, but overall the experience didn't align with what I was looking for in the buying process or respectful of the information I provided to all dealers to give a level playing field (give me your best quote upfront then I'm making a decision the next day).

In our case, we had an unusual set of transportation needs. We were looking for a high-end RV to support our plans for cross-country roadtrips. Suffice it to say that our needs didn't match the typical run-of-the-mill item in Gary's inventory. But, leave it to Gary to find what we were looking for... A beautiful, previously owned, low-mileage, pristine condition, Mercedes/Airstream RV! Who could have imagined?!? It has proven to be the ideal vehicle for us and we love it!. This is a great illustration of the lengths Gary will go to in order to make new friends and satisfied customers. We managed to conclude a transaction for the RV quickly and easily. Gary and the other members of his team were very helpful and wonderful to work with. Gary is very personable and plain-spoken in helping to find the right vehicle at the right price. Though we live in the Washington, DC area, we plan to return to Gary's Community Auto the next time we need a car and I'm sure he'll find just the right thing for us once again. Happy car shopping!

I will update this review if anything goes wrong with the car. Otherwise, assume I'm a happy customer. NOTE: I suggested to the owner that he consider doing away with the scented candle that was burning in the front office. I made the point that while the candle smelled nice enough, many folks (myself included) are very sensitive to fragrances (as evidenced by the booming market of fragrance-free products). The owner received my feedback good-naturedly enough, but left the candle burning as he walked away. Meanwhile, I had to excuse myself, go out to the car and take an antihistamine, before I could return inside to complete the transaction because multiple chemical sensitivity is a real thing and those of us who have it spend extra time and money to avoid being overwhelmed by the off-gassing of scented products and services. I wonder how many folks complain about not having a scented candle burning when they shop for cars. ;-)
