I spent a fair amount of time shopping for a new Acura MDX and reached out to several dealerships with the same detailed request. I asked each dealer to provide written quotes so I could compare everything clearly and consistently. I detailed the exact specs/trim I was looking for. Prior to sending that message, about a week previously I did visit this dealership in person and completed a test drive. They were friendly during this visit, and I liked that they left me take the vehicle out by myself with no time constraints. Following that visit, I received multiple follow-ups, every day, over the next week across texts, phone calls, and emails (all on the same day). While I understand the importance of follow-up, the frequency felt excessive--especially since I had not responded or engaged further. When it came time to give me quotes, communication didn't align with my request to handle things in writing. Instead of receiving a clear written quote early on, I was asked to discuss details over the phone. I had specifically asked to keep communication via email to stay organized. The initial quote I did receive was for a vehicle with over 7,000 miles, which I later confirmed was a manager-driven/demo vehicle. The mileage was not disclosed from the outset, and the pricing was not competitive compared to other dealers offering actual new vehicles. After that, there were attempts to reconnect and reset the conversation, but I never received a clean, written quote on a new vehicle that matched my requested configuration. Just a request for me to call them on the phone and talk. I already had six quotes in hand from other dealers on vehicles with 0 to 15 miles, with all but one of them cheaper than what they quoted for a car with 7,000+ miles on it. In the end, I chose to move forward with another dealer who gave a great quote the first time in writing, included an accessory package as well, and made it a simple and straightforward process. I trust these folks are nice people based on my initial interactions, but folks are usually nice when they are trying to attract a sale. I appreciate the effort to follow up, but overall the experience didn't align with what I was looking for in the buying process or respectful of the information I provided to all dealers to give a level playing field (give me your best quote upfront then I'm making a decision the next day). read more

I purchased a certified Accura, thinking that I was saving some money until i tried to trade the car at car max. CarFax provided me with a carFax report showing my car in bad car accident in florida and that it was reported as almost a total lost. I am not sure how or why this dealer provided me a copy of the car max report with a clean report. After a large day of discussions and proving they wrong, the manager changed the certified accura to a new car but the price was kept the same even the new car was a totally lower model from the one initially i received. I still feel that I was taking advantage, even if i got a new car. read more

I've been seriously car shopping for about 6 months now and had a few interactions with Crown Acura. Both times I worked with David, who is nice enough and very knowledgeable about the used cars on the lot which is what i was interested in. One thing I didn't love about Acura is that they are still doing guided test drives. As a woman shopping alone during the day while my husband was working, I was always on high alert during the drives... you just never know. The main reason I'm docking a star is because they would not budge on my trade in value for my civic. They offered me $1000+ less than what I eventually received elsewhere. There also was an incident where I set an appointment to test drive a car and then when I got there, it was being cleaned up for someone else who had purchased it moments before I arrived. It ended up being a blessing because I purchased something WAY better in the end, but it was still annoying that I'd arranged my day to go on this test drive and the car was sold from under me and I wasn't informed before making my way out there with my baby daughter. But, I think that's just how the cookie crumbles these days. Overall, I don't have any major negatives to say about Crown Acura and would recommend for purchasing, not necessarily selling. read more

We have always had Acuras and Hondas so there was no doubt we would get another one! I upgraded my 2013 MDX to a 2022 MDX. I did my research before going so I knew exactly what I wanted and the Acura in Richmond had it. I always have extreme anxiety going to car dealerships. I don't like pulling in and 20 salesmen come out before you get out of your car. It just makes me want to leave. We got to the dealership and that did not happen which I was grateful for (but it was raining too). My husband and I got to go look at the car first and discuss it in private. When we were ready to look on the inside, we walked in. Again, no bombarding when I was grateful for. We had ONE person greet us who was very polite! This was Wesley! I cannot rave enough on Wesley! He was extremely professional, very knowledgeable about the vehicle (which he also owns one), knew the history of the vehicle, gave us time to look it all over without trying to sell it to us. Honestly, his customer service relieved any anxiety that I had and allowed me to focus on the car and my decision to purchase. He let us continue to look at the car on our own (after looking together) while he went in to put numbers together for our trade in. We got to keep it over the weekend (we looked at it on a Friday) which solidified our decision. Wesley was amazing through the entire process. The buying/trading process was great and everyone we worked with at Acura was wonderful! No one was over bearing and very personable. Wesley followed up with us after the purchase to make sure we were satisfied. I know if I needed anything, I could give him a call and he would be ready to assist with no hesitation. I would definitely work with Acura again and request to work with Wesley. I am sure everyone there is a pleasure to work with, but he is top notch. I was able to see the interactions between other customer and sale reps and they knew them by name, asked about family, and just overall a joy to work with. The sale reps seemed to have a good working relation with everyone else in the dealership. If there were any issues amongst workers, you would never know. A very team environment. This was an appallingly bad car buying experience that didn't even result in us ever buying a car from them. My wife and I found the car we wanted on their web page and made arrangements with the online sales agent to go to the dealership that day for a test drive. We had already been approved for financing, had a check in hand, and were ready to purchase if we liked the car in person. When we got to the dealership, they informed us the car was not available, because it was at the West Broad Honda body shop getting recall work done. We were disappointed and a little annoyed since we had just made arrangements earlier that day to come to the dealership, but they reassured at the dealership that the car would be ready in a couple days and they would even drive it out to us for a test drive so we wouldn't have to drive to the dealership. We were okay with that. One week passes, and we haven't heard anything from the dealership about this car. We did get plenty of annoying generic emails about other cars at the dealership that we weren't interested in though. I finally called the dealership to inquire about the car, and they said it was still at West Broad Honda getting recall work done, but they would jump on the "incompetent morons at West Broad Honda," as they put it, to get the work done ASAP. Still another week passes, and I call back again. This time, they tell me that there's all sorts of other recall work being done on the car, including something on the transmission. However, we had already done research on this vehicle to know that there was no recall related to the transmission, and they had also told us on our first visit to the dealership that this particular type of vehicle had no issues with the transmission. Still, I told them to call me back when it was ready. At that point, I decided to just look up the vehicle online again, and it was marked as "SOLD." Basically, this dealership didn't want to admit to me that they had sold the vehicle to someone else on a whim when we had been the first to inquire about it and keep following up, so they just made up all this crap about the transmission needing work to make us no longer interested in the car. Yet another week has now gone by, and I still haven't heard back from them, but of course I don't really expect to at this point. We were pre-approved for financing with a check in hand that has an expiration date, yet we wasted about three weeks with this dealership simply because no one there had the freaking balls to tell us they sold the car to someone else. At this point, I'm so pissed off at this dealership for giving us such a ridiculous run-around that I'm posting this same review on as many websites as possible to let everyone know not to bother with this dealership. read more

After visiting Lexus, Volvo, and Audi, I was very underwhelmed by this dealership. As it is small to the point where it felt a little crowded and cluttered. It's also pretty dated. I did hear that they bid on the site that Audi of Richmond is at, but obviously Crown Acura lost. So if that's true, hopefully it's just a matter of time until Crown finds a new home. Anyways Madeleine, I believe she also goes by Maddy was the salesperson that greeted us. My first impression of her was not the greatest, solely because of her being so young. Definitely the youngest salesperson I've ever dealt with. However, after a few minutes, she won me over. Simply put, she knows her stuff! She knew the answer to everything we asked. I'm really into cars and I have a 10 year background in collision repair. So when she was able to hang with me when it came to car talk, I was very impressed. The thing that she really has going for her is that outside of selling cars, she has a true passion for cars in general. So that combined with her knowledge of cars, especially Acuras, makes her the perfect person to work with. Aside from that, she was very pleasant and not pushy at all. Best of all, her and her manager were able to negotiate a deal that we couldn't refuse. Madeleine is a classic example of don't judge a book by its cover. I purchased a 2011 Subaru outback and was told that they had inspected it. They told me that if they found any damage they would've put it on an auction truck. After purchasing it I find out it had a leaking cam seal, a leaking shaft seal, there was visible damage to the rear brackets and the trunk lid which was not disclosed to me. Also the car should've had timing belt and spark plugs replaced at 100,000 miles yet the car is at 150,000 miles. That's a 1500 expense right out the door after paying them top dollar for the vehicle. I called several Times to speak with the used car sales department and the manager has been ignoring my phone calls and messages. read more

I've been here on three occasions to check out the TLX. The sales person did not know the ins-and-outs about the car.. (knew less than what my friend who tagged along knew about)(RED FLAG) Also, during the test drive the front sensor didn't work properly and when I asked why, the answer was... "umm, I'm not sure... hehehe"... (Another RED FLAG) Totally unprofessional. C'mon people, you aren't selling a $10 toy.... Anyways, finally, I made up my mind and was ready to get the car, but the sales person here was not willing to work with me. I wasn't asking for a huge discount, but something reasonable since it was Black Friday Weekend, but nah... they said "MAYBE $500 off..." I left the store upset, what the F is MAYBE supposed to mean? To me it meant, the sales person was ready to play a game. If you want a reliable, straightforward sales person I would not recommend this place. It was a waste of time here. I went elsewhere, and got the TLX I wanted. Poor judgement on potential customers. I was a serious buyer, but u failed to recognize me. The sales staff are super knowledgeable about the cars. They were friendly and eager to help. Though located on busy Broad St just after crossing Parham road, they found a way to lead me through a test drive that included neighborhood and highway driving. I will say that the sales team is pretty high pressure in comparison to other dealerships. I had to say over and over that I wasn't ready to make a decision to get them to back off. The cars were awesome though. I ended up leasing a new ilx. They got the colors I requested with quick turnaround. BE WARNED...they will try to take you for a sucker if you don't do your homework. The price I negotiated for my lease was more than $70 less than the original offer they made me for a lower package. I got a better package for a much better price by going on the acura website and pricing cars. Then try calling other acura dealerships in the state. Do your homework and buying or leasing an Acura here can be an enjoyable experience. read more

Very happy with the salesman David, he was nice and professional at all times. However, I'm totally dissatisfied with the finance person Tyler. His delivery and tone were inappropriate and demeaning. I should have known when I was in the dealership and could hear him conducting business with someone else. Privacy and discretion are important to me, when discussing a customer's personal business, try closing the door. His voice is high pitched, but he also talks down to you as if you are a child. "He asked, do you have to trade this vehicle", if I didn't have to trade it would I be asking for a trade in! My anger was from his tone and delivery of his message, I had to leave before I lost my professionalism. I left there without my Acura, but no worries, I will obtain the loan through my credit union and then purchase my Acura elsewhere. I have purchased three MDXs from crown acura of RICHMOND. Service has consistently been underwhelming, but Acura's are great cars and they are the only game in town. My most recent fiasco involves an errant lien that they placed on my vehicle for which I paid cash. I have been chasing them for a month to get the lien removed and now cannot even get a call back. Buy an Acura, but drive elsewhere to do so. read more

Brandon met us as we walked in and was the epitome of consultative, knew the answer to every single question we asked about features, encouraged us to really test the car on the test drive and put us at ease with the purchase. After we decided to purchase he was candid and friendly which made our time waiting enjoyable. My wife said as we left, "he really wasn't like any of the other car salesman we've used in the past that make you feel uncomfortable". I met Tim St. Clair as he did the evaluation on our trade-in and he was laid back, courteous and informative on the available warranties and trade-in value. Tim came back with what we felt was a good price, and then worked with us to push the price from a "good deal" to what we felt was a "great deal". Finally, Tim Stapler quickly walked us through the myriad of forms and paperwork and never once did we get a bad vibe or feel pushed for an extra service or add-on. No wonder he has been with Crown for 7+ Years....he was excellent. All around excellent experience and I would encourage anyone buying new or used to check out Crown Acura. Well I would say the team is very responsive and friendly. But, one might need to be really careful if buying an used car since these don't come with any form of manufacturer or dealer warranty and you never know what's under the hood. I got an MDX and from day 1, one of the fobs wasn't working, had a crack on windshield that was covered under the price tag stickers. While I realized the key problem even before I moved out of the showroom, realized the problem with windshield next day morning. While I ignored the first 2 problems since they weren't critical, after a week I get a problem with transmission which I feel was there from day 1 just showed up on automated reporting suddenly. Now, I have to pay a hefty amount for getting this fixed. Learning the hard way! read more
