I'm not sure what has happened with this company, for years I have used their services personally, hired them to service real estate I manage, and referred them out many times. The last 2 experiences have not been great. There was such an expensive bid to swap out a wall AC in excess of $600 for just labor (and we're really talking remove old wall unit, put the new one in, tild slightly, use foam to surround open spaces), and the second issue is they failed to follow up on a lead I gave them to one of my own family members who wanted a lot of work done. It's really such a shame because now I don't think I can use or refer anyone here anymore and I held them in the highest regard. Just wanted to continue the positive feedback I have for West Coast Energy. It's been 13 years since my original review for WCE and they are still going strong! Today Jerry and Andy replaced my evaporator coil and it feels sooo good to have A/C again, especially now that the summer temperatures are rising. Despite being swamped with other A/C calls for at least the last couple of months, Jerry took the time to run some diagnostics and ultimately confirmed that our evaporator coil was leaking. Replacing our coil could have been a much tougher job, requiring him to remove the entire furnace underneath. However, Jerry figured a way to save a lot of labor time and was able to replace in the coil in-place. Cool! I mean literally, it's cool. :) So a huge thank you again to Jerry, Andy, and everyone else at West Coast Energy! read more

I called West Coast Energy during the heat wave recently because our air conditioner had stopped functioning, and it was very unbearably hot. We also had guests arriving and it couldn't have been a worst time for our cool air to go off. I talked to Jessica, who with her wonderful customer service and excellent listening and communication skills, found a slot in their very busy schedule to send a technician out to solve our problem. Tyler came to our home to diagnose our situation, and was very knowledgeable and efficient and was able to resolve our issue. Reasonably priced service, friendly and helpful staff. I received a few quotes, West Coast was the most straight forward and reasonable quote I received. No high pressure get a discount by signing now, no massively layered quote full of discounts I could apply for to make the price of the units be somewhat reasonable. I installed a heat pump and replaced the existing furnace that was 40 years old in April of 2023. The model numbers. Trane 4TWR403661000A heat pump condenser American Standard P0V0A000M30SCA air handler. The system has performed great, this system is all electric. I have not noticed a significant increase in Electricity consumption, but my gas bill has almost gone to zero in the winter. The only thing hooked up to gas is my water heater. The install took 2 days, they sealed all the ducts to insure there was not leaking into the attic. Other vendors wanted to replace all my ducts, they other vendors were as bad if not worse than a used car dealer. I would recommend them and get a quote at a minimum. read more

This company is awesome! Everyone I have ever encountered here has been responsive. Knowledge and efficient. I have an Ecobee thermostat that is supposed to be smart and voice activated but it's easily tripped by my attic mounted furnace. In the 2 times I have called they have been out within a few hours and always solved the issue and even changes my filter that is mounted high in my cathedral ceiling stairwell! I highly recommend West Coast to anyone not wanting to get ripped off. Joe and Tyler and both great techs and even the receptionist is pleasant and respectful. What these guys probably didn't know, was I could see ALL of their highly meticulous, skilled and fantastic work that they did, as they did it. They were beyond impressive. Joe and Patty are the best. They truly try helping their clients before immediately start selling this and that. We previously had a new system installed at our townhouse and loved the experience. Fast forward to us moving into our new house, we had issues with the AC only blowing air; did not get any cold coming out. We contacted a competitor who immediately told us we needed to replace the whole system. Fearing this was the case, we decided to get a second opinion by West Coast Energy due to our experience before. Joe came out and explained to me that he would do a pressure test to see where a possible leak may be coming before thinking about what route to go. Luckily it was only the condenser that was an issue but Joe did price us out multiple options from just replacing the condenser to replacing the whole unit. We decided to go with just replacing the unit due to just buying our new house and wanted to save alittle. If it wasn't for West Coast Energy, we wouldn't of had that option and would of replaced the whole unit. Lesson learned: Change your air filters and it could save you a service call! Originally I was going to use a competitor (who also received high praise from yelpers) but they were swamped with business, they actually had to turn away new clients. So I found WCE and saw they also had high praise, and left a message. Patti called me back and asked me what was the problem. I told her my "symptoms" and she scheduled me with Jacob on a Tuesday. Before hanging up, she gave me some suggestions on troubleshooting, but unfortunately they didn't work. Jacob arrived a little after 10 am (I was told between 10-12 for the call) and listened to my AC problem. I told him one day it worked, and then the next day hot air. The AC did give a "clicking" sound, and I also told him I tried Patti's suggestion. He checked my furnace, then my air filters. They were beyond filthy (or as he wrote in the paperwork "Extremely Dirty".). He first changed the air filters (for just $10!) and then went to my AC unit. He determined my compressor was the issue, and replaced it. He explained my filters were so bad, it overworked my AC. I'm sure he said more, but I was just thrilled to feel ICY COLD air, I didn't care what the reason was. He gave me the measurements of my 2 air filters and said to regularly change them. Had I changed them say, even a month ago, my compressor probably would had been ok. After the air was flowing, he walked around, and adjusted the vents, and made sure all the rooms had cool air flowing properly. The price was fair (even with the $72 hr house call /labor charge) came to under $300. I'm very happy with the service. Highly professional, friendly, and even he tolerated my yappy little dog. I can't find any fault in this company, and recommend this with 5 yelp stars! read more

Just completed a 2 zone heat pump in Long Beach and am very happy with it. Got 3 quotations from 3 licensed HVAC contractors including WCE, and one was thru Home Depot. I decided to go w/ WCE not only because of $$ consideration, but also because I found WCE's senior personnel to be very strightforward to deal with during his initial cost-estimating visit. One of the Contractor actually gave me quite deceiving info, and as the result his estimate was very high. WCE's response was prompt, they took good care of the house during their work, covered the floor carefully & cleaned up after the job is done. The installation took 1 day. So far ... so good. WCE installed a new heat pump system for us a little over 2 years ago and did a great job. 2 days ago, on the hottest day in a long time, our thermostat broke. So there is a crew working on the house I'm staying at and one of the employees took it apon himself to take down my nest camra for what reason I'm unsure since it's nowhere near where there working so it's not in the way of him doing his job. I believe it's illegal to touch or remove someone's home security camra with out asking. So I asked for my property back and was told it's somewhere in my front yard to go find it so no I would recommend this company to anyone not with employees that are disrespectful like this. read more

Our AC went out right before the October super heat wave here in Yorba Linda. Worse yet, it was the blower motor. Ours is multi speed which means it had to be ordered. We got three quotes, two around $1500. West Coast quoted just over $1100. All three said it would take 5 to 6 business days as the only place to get the motor didn't expedite shipping. So, staring at 5 to 6 days of 110 degree weather, 3 dogs and no AC, we were in a spot. During maybe the busiest week of the summer for them, Patty and West Coast came up with this. She said she could get somebody to us within two days and they could install a temporary single speed motor to keep the unit functioning and even offered to loan us a portable AC unit for the two days in between. I ended up going out and buying a portable unit that same day, and as promised, they were out two days later with the temp motor, just in time for the worst of it. I have had the unfortunate experience of needing multiple AC service this year (two on the same unit). After Jacob found a leak and some coil issues, he repaired them. Not only that, he told us that the AC unit in our home was installed facing the wrong direction (toward the sun!) and that some wiring were not safely enclosed, which could lead us into more issues in the future. Not something a homeowner wants to hear five years after purchasing a brand new home! I personally appreciate his feedback and the information he shared with us. He is helping us financially prepare for future repairs and maintenance. I also appreciate the fact that he teaches me something about HVAC every time we talk! Today, he did some maintenance work in our rental condo. The tenants' cat happened to be home and after Jacob was done, I could not find him! This review is overdue. This company is the real deal. They installed a Maytag 15 Seer condenser with a 2-stage variable speed furnace central heating and air conditioning unit 4 years ago. It took them 3 days to install after going back and forth for two months, answering all my questions. I am not an impulse buyer. I have to ensure my questions are answered before making a big purchase. Patty was great in answering and providing information. I had received approximate 7 estimates from other companies and their pricing was a great deal. Their customer service was exceptional. Recently, I had the A/C unit serviced for the first time and to to my relief it was covered under warranty. Jacob was friendly and informative, answering all my questions. It is a rare to find a service that not only exceeds your expectations but also restores one's faith in honest people. Our home A/C unit went out in Nov. 2012, we were told by several different repair services that it was the compressor that needed to be replaced-this was the 2nd compressor to go out in 2 years! that cost would be anywhere from $1700-$2000 ( compressors only have a 1-year warranty) of course we were told a better long-term soluton would be to replace the whole unit- that would be between $3200-$4500. Our then repair service also said that getting a whole new unit was the way to go ( never mind that they had two compressors go out in 2 years) after spending $200 for them to "analyze" and trying to repair it. Because it was November and the cooler season, we let it go. Fast forward to June 2013: with the hot season coming, we decided to give it one more try and see what type of quotes we can get for a new compressor ( we were in the mindset that was the way to go) we found 2 of the highest YELPED companys and gave them calls, the first one in less than ten minutes of looking inside said yes, compressor but a new $3200 unit is your better solution. Enter company #2, West Coast Energy- right off the bat I liked their attitude, over the phone, they assured me that they would look top-to-bottom to see if there was a someting other than a bad compressor that was impacting our system because 2 going out in 2 years was not right. Wayne came over the next day and after looking a the wiring and doing some tests, asked if I had tried to fix it myself?!- of course I said no and asked why and he said it was the shoddiest repair/wiring job he had seen! within 20 minutes of rewiring the A/C was up and running! no new compressor, no need re-charge with Freon, no spending $1700-$3500! etc. etc. Wayne said that so many people are told that compressors need to be replaced when there are other possible solutions. the total cost this repair-- $325! and that included a new digital wall control unit! We are both grateful for Waynes honest work ethic and yet feel duped by all of the prior repair quotes telling us to spend $1700-$4500 when the real solution was right under there noses--just like those TV exposes' with hidden cameras showing repairmen ripping off comsumers! Like Wayne said, they want to do it right the first time and have long-term customers- I would without hesitation recommend Wayne and West Coast Energy! read more

I read the reviews about how great they are.. however the dispatcher was very rude. I called to let them know that I might have to cancel an appointment because the elder tenant became Ill and on her way to the hospital,, but before I could finish, she asked me "so are you canceling" and I said "Maybe" she hangs up before I can explain to her that I was trying to get another person out there to let the technician in. In the meantime, another tenant called and said she was available to let the technician in. So I called the dispatcher back (Maybe a minute or two later ) but she said she had already given my appointment to someone else,..Really not even a minute later.. I was pretty pissed because I had waited 2 weeks for this appointment. That dispatcher needs to be fired as she was pretty rude when I tried to explain the situation to her.. Bought an condo/townhouse build in 1987. Our AC has never delivered the cool down we wanted. I've had Sears out for a quote, also called a number of AC/Heating companies. Long story short all of them said. You need a new unit. Some quoted me 12k some less but I was looking at thousands to replace. Then I called West Coast Energy after sorting through Yelp and user reviews. For the first time he offered me advice I hadn't heard from any other AC/Heating company. Told me my problem was air flow. After spending some time in my attic & showing me some pictures he took. Suggested we start trying to resolve the problem by attacking the ducts. Then to my surprise offered me more advice on how I could help the situation on my own picking up new room vents from Home Depot that are non directional. Went to Home Depot that night & wow just replacing those air vents made a huge difference. I'm very anxious to get my ducts worked on. Was nice to meet someone who didn't make you feel like a sucker!
