I had another HVAC contractor come out, and leave a job half finished, while really trying to sell me a new HVAC system. My brother in law recommended Hung, one of his neighbors, who actually installed a brand new system in his home at a very reasonable price for the scope of work. So I brought Hung out before the other guy was due to come over. Hung worked on my 37 year old system, and said at some point you'll need to replace this, may I quote you? No high pressure, and a focus on getting my old system up and running, which he did, after a few items kept popping up, but they were because of my failure to maintain the system, not his oversight. Great prices, great service, and outstanding warranty service. We have contacted Hung for several HVAC-related upgrades at our home in Lake Forest. These include asbestos inspection and removal, attic insulation, and an all-electric AC/heat pump unit. In all cases, the materials have been top quality and service has been timely. Hung was very honest with us and his estimates were far below some competitors in the area. We received several options for all materials costs. On top of all that, our smart thermostat stopped working due to an issue that we don't believe was a result of Hung's work. However, he came out to diagnose the issue, and replaced the thermostat, at absolutely no cost because it was within the two year warranty period. The AC/heat pump unit was an energy and cost efficient alternative to replacing both our old AC unit and conventional gas heater, and was not an option that competitors presented. He worked with us on obtaining rebates for that unit, and included the rebate amount up-front with his initial pricing. Could not recommend more highly. read more

I was referred by by my coworker. My heat was not working for 2 years. First time we had someone came and exam, we were asked to replaced the duc and control panel costing 5000 in total. At the end, only air conditioning works. This year, we have someone came to exam the heat again due to we have rent out the place. And the crew told us it was the compressor issue and it will need at least 2000-3000 to replace it. We do not have that much money laying around at this point. My coworker tell me to have Hung come over and take a look. He came in within 24 hours and he examined the issue and found out it was the control panel is not working properly. It was starting to get hot again, so I figured it was time to get our house air-conditioned. Business hours were only during weekdays, but the owner was willing to work with me and came out on a Sunday to give me an estimate. The estimate process was straight forward. He took a look at our house and the current central heating setup, then made some recommendations. Prices, details and such were all printed out in a binder that he had with him. Seeing him have this information prepared made me feel more comfortable about the pricing, in that it wasn't some made up number he was making up in his head. At any rate, I scheduled some days with him for the work. Besides the items needed for the air conditioning, we ended up also getting two vents added, our electric panel upgraded, all air ducts replaced and an air filtration system installed. All this took about 3 solid days of work, which two techs coming out each day. During the whole time, the techs performed the work in a professional manner. They were always mindful about any mess they made and cleaned their work area at the end of the day. They took care in the work they did and made sure that everything was done correctly. He called me back Saturday and said he wouldn't be able to make it but could definitely help me Sunday. After replacing a pair of new fuses, it didn't work. We went on YouTube to seek for tips. From there, we continued to replace the run capacitor, condenser fan motor and contactor respectively, which had taken 3 days to be delivered and replaced by us. We were so desperate and frustrated to find the solutions to the problem, but gave up at the end due to the pressure of hot weather and mainly spousal complaints. we were so thankful and lucky we called StephanHomeComfort Service and was skeptical about the pricing. we got a hold of the owner, Hung, who is an extraordinary man with true honesty, integrity and pride in helping and guiding us over the phone how to troubleshoot the chronic AC problems without charging a penny. This has never happened to us any prior contractor we called. When you call a licensed contractor to perform on a job or to diagnose a problem, there is always a set fee at least in my experience. Back to the inoperative condenser fan, Hung instructed me to check the electrical wiring diagram of the fan motor and identify the correct color-coded power wires. He diagnosed remotely the power wires connecting the contactor and a control circuit board and detected that the control board where the fan power cord is connected to had failed. Initially, we thought we would have to order the broken parts online before fixing could resume. Again with Hung's professional expertise, he taught us how to get the fan working even without the new control board on hand. This is a technical secret other contractors would never share their clients! We were directed over the phone to unplug one the fan power wire(black) from the control panel and plug it directly to terminal 2 on the contactor. Guess what, it works! the condenser fan finally spun and provided us cool air to the house. i am very disappointed and would not recommend to anyone I had my duct work replaced for the AC system with new filter put in by Stephan's Home Comfort Services. I called Stephan's Home Comfort Services due to heating system is not working. the office staff did not tell me there is a diagnose charge and told me to wait until the technician come out to diagnose problem. The technician came and told me i need a new control board that roughly equal to about a $500 cost to get my heater working. and he does not have the part so i would have to wait. PLUS there is an 80$ diagnosis fee ! I couldn't afford the $500 estimate and did not agree to the repair...thank God because I found another company and the technician told me: 1. the system was unplugged (maybe due to the duct work...my heater is in the attic) 2. my heater DOES NOT NEED a new control board as he got it up and running in 10 min; tested 3 times and even check for carbon monoxide. I DON'T mind paying for quality work I DO have a problem with poor quality/dishonesty like i said...I am very disappointed with Stephan's Home Comfort Services for the heater technician incorrect diagnosis and not informing me upfront there is a service charge (and the diagnosis is not even correct) read more

We recently had a new heating/cooling package installed in our condo unit in West LA by this company. We had been referred to contact Stephan's by a friend, and we were greatly impressed by their honest, helpful, and reliable service during two days of work. On both days, the president of the firm, Mr. Hung Nguyen, came in person with another contractor, Mr. Hoa Lieu, to help him. The first day, they came to examine our 2-story condo complex and the location of the heating/cooling unit on the roof, in order to determine the most  suitable product. They introduced and clearly explained the benefits and warranty of the selected heating/cooling package. After we arranged the actual date of the installation, Mr. Nguyen called us several times to coordinate and make sure that everything will be ready for the equipment truck and crane.
