Just mention you saw the coupon on Yelp or online. No appointment is needed, which made it even more convenient. I stopped by on a weekday around 9:00 AM, and there was no line. I was greeted right away by Angel, who made the entire process easy. He gave clear instructions from start to finish and kept everything moving smoothly. There are two waiting areas: an indoor lounge with a couch and a small beverage station and a covered outdoor seating area. I was excited to see one of my favorite sodas, Mountain Dew Baja Blast, in the fridge! They also have a Keurig for coffee, which would be nice in the morning, although the coffee station looked a little dusty, so I decided to skip it. They definitely lived up to their promise. I was in and out in about 15 minutes, my MDX passed, and Angel explained that my smog certificate would be electronically sent to Sacramento within about 30 minutes. Woo hoo! As a nice bonus, if you pass, they give you a free car wash card at H2Go, which was a pleasant surprise. The shop can service two cars at a time, and everything was clean, organized, and efficient. Great customer service, great value, and a hassle-free experience. I'll definitely be back the next time my smog check is due. See you next year!

Tuan, the technician was nice and friendly. There is a waiting area with a couch and more chairs outside so you can watch them complete the work. You fill out a sheet with your information which takes less than a minute. Tuan informed me they used to have a coupon, but now they just charge a flat fee of $50 for cars. After that repair, my check engine light suddenly came on--even though it wasn't on before. The first shop told me it was a problem with the mass air flow sensor and tried to charge me to fix it, which didn't feel right to me. So I decided to come here for a second opinion, and I'm really glad I did. The mechanic took the time to properly diagnose the issue and walked me through everything step by step. Within about an hour, he figured out that it wasn't the air flow sensor at all--it was just a blown fuse. That alone saved me a lot of money and potentially from being overcharged elsewhere. What really stood out was the honesty and communication. He explained clearly what went wrong, didn't try to upsell anything, and made sure I understood the situation. On top of that, he even aired up my tires for free, which was a nice touch. Fast, honest, and affordable service like this is hard to find. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending this shop to others.

I don't feel bad blood or any sketchy feelings toward anybody at the shop. I just feel it's dumb luck and just plain bad luck on my part for having such a faulty truck. Everybody at the shop has done an amazing job helping me out. Will at the front counter is an amazing person who goes above and beyond to do whatever he can to make the pricing work for you.. Trey is an amazing technician who knows exactly what he's doing and sends detailed videos and reporting of everything he inspects. Unfortunately my truck started leaking and it was a faulty water pump. The same water pump I replaced 4 years ago at the exact location here at autolink. Again, I don't feel any sketchy feelings. I don't feel any kind of way. I just feel frustrated that the same water pump would go out after 4 years. I feel like something like that just doesn't happen. Even with that, I'm in a position in my life where I can't and don't have the resources to do anything further with this vehicle. About 2 weeks ago, maybe three. I replaced the complete brake system in my vehicle and it cost me about $2,000. Today I got the estimate for the water pump repair and it was $1,500. This is on the higher end of any shop repair. Again? I feel it's worth it because of the work they do, but to be honest, I feel something more should have been done to either prevent the water pump from breaking down again or getting some kind of warranty for that water pump that just happened to break down once again after 4 years. In the back of my mind, I can't stop thinking about the fact that something like this just doesn't happen that often. Water pumps don't break down that often. Anyway, that aside again, I hold no bad feelings toward this shot because I highly recommend them to everybody. They are on the higher end of the pricing ever since they started getting more clientele and more business. That is something that is to be expected I guess. Even with that, they were able to bring down the price significantly, and I appreciated it ever so much. At the same time I had to explain that at this time in my life I I can't and will not continue to repair this truck. I picked up the truck from the shop, drove it home and it's going to be sitting in my driveway for a few months until I figure out what I'm going to do with it. I have to save money to fix it because I do want to keep it and pass it down to my kid because after $15,000 worth of repairs I think it's pretty much brand new and should hold up for my son for a few years. Thank you everybody at the shop, Jay, will, Trey all the mechanics that I haven't met. They are detailed and explain what needs to be done with great reporting and paperwork. I will not be going back for a while. I'm going to save up some money. Get a new car and when the time comes I'm going to fix the truck and pass it down to my kid when he's old enough to drive. But I am seriously done with this truck. It has been nothing but a money pit. Again, I hold no bad blood, no hard feelings toward anybody at the shop. I just feel some kind of way about the same part breaking down 4 years later and me having to fix it at the exact same place with no kind of warranty.

My previous go-to mechanic tripped me with a quote of $575 for the valve gasket cover replacement (I assumed they meant the entire thing, not the rubber seal). So I went to this place due to reasonable prices. Their labor prices are also more competitive. The only downsize is that they don't do appointment. Otherwise; so far so good.

They quoted me way under anyone else that I had called prior to going with them. I will recommend A-1 Muffler Express to all of my friends and family. They all make you feel that you're part of the family. They offered me coffee and cold water while I waited for my car to be done. Let me tell you right now--this place is not your cookie-cutter American smog station. I walk in, there's a woman casually washing dishes in a sink like it's Sunday at grandma's, and Chu Hai silently extends his hand like a smog-check Master. No paperwork. No chit-chat. Chu Hai barely uttered 5 complete sentences to me the entire time. There were a couple other cars in the stalls, but somehow they got mine in right away. I plopped down in a mismatched patio chair (10/10 ambiance) and before I could even deep dive into my IG, Chu Hai reappeared like a smog God with my paperwork in hand and said it was all sent to the DMV. That's it. Done. $50 later and I'm street legal again. No fuss, no frills, just straight-up magic. If I ever need another smog check--or a life coach--I'm coming back to Chu Hai. Zero Fuss. Zero Haggle. Zero Everything. They just pass you through like my last few online dates... 10/10 would tell my entire family about Chu Hai.

READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE HIRING DENNIS!!!…read more I came here for a diagnostic. My vehicle was making noise and I paid Dennis his Diagnostic Fee. He hooked his computer to my vehicle and said it's a misfire. He told me he would check the spark plugs and he would call me when he was done. Dennis called about an hour and a half later. He said he checked the spark plugs and they were fine. He said I need a new engine. I was not satisfied with his diagnosis and drove to a second mechanic. This second shop diagnosed the problem and fixed it for a couple hundred dollars. BUT HERE'S THE REASON FOR THE NEGATIVE REVIEW. The 2nd mechanic showed me the spark plugs. They WERE NOT fine as Dennis said. In fact, the spark plug wires were completely fried!! Which Dennis would have seen if he even looked, let alone remove them to test the plugs, as he said he did. So Dennis LIED!!! TOOK MY MONEY AND DID NOT DO THE SERVICE HE CHARGED FOR. I am attaching a photo for proof. PLEASE! Go to an honest mechanic and not one who charges you money for a service he clearly didn't perform.
