The team at West Coast Pet Memorial was professional, caring and compassionate. We were contacted relatively quickly to make the arrangements for our pet's cremation - the process moved quickly once we decided what we wanted. We were able to retrieve her cremains the very next business day. The presentation package we received was very nice. It reflected a level of care that was comforting to us. They even included the rods and screws from her prior surgeries. I would recommend West Coast Pet Memorial to anyone looking for a company that cares about your pet almost as much as you do
I was horrified when my beloved pup arrived in a PVC tube & the stone had a stain on it! The brochure lead me & my veterinarian to believe that Rosie's ashes would be in the stone! Instead she was shipped to me like a piece of leftover pipping from a house remodel. The stone was expensive & there was an extra charge for a private cremation. I will never use or recommend West Coast Pet Memorial. Never again! Never again!
Obviously, something very sad to your family has taken place before you'd ever have any business here. Sadly, life isn't kind sometimes, but when these times happen for our pets it's nice to be treated as if you'd lost a family member, because that's exactly what they were/are to our lives. CalPet was extremely professional and comforting in all the phone calls and the return of your pets is handled with utmost care and empathy. It was hard to walk up to collect my baby and see the ovens burning and stacks billowing as you know many babies have left others live as well, but at least this way they can stay with us forever until our own time comes. Love all of the animals out there; yours, others, and especially all of the animals who have no one.
Hard review to write - but I hope it helps someone who may need it. Back in March, we lost our elderly rescue cat, Dorfy. We opted for cremation and the emergency vet clinic helped us get all set up with Cal Pet - and it was a real relief! We had as great of an experience with them as one can expect in a time like this. It was such an easy process - we filled out all the paperwork at the vet clinic. And then a few days later, we spoke to Cal Pet staff on the phone to discuss what urn we wanted and engraving and all that and to pay over the phone. They even offer a home delivery service for an extremely reasonable price! Totally worth it for me not to have to drive all the way out to Sun Valley. And I highly recommend the home delivery also bc it's a tough thing to experience (extremely emotional) so at least you're comfortable in your own space. It did take quite a while for us to receive our pet's ashes - almost a full two weeks. But it was a smooth process - we had zero issues. And we absolutely loved the urn! We got a cherry wood urn with an engraving plate. Very nice quality and their prices are excellent! Way less than I expected to pay. They give you a choice of a private cremation or community cremation (or group cremation - can't remember exactly what it was called). The private cremation is exactly as it sounds - just your pet by itself and you receive the ashes. The community cremation is a group of animals cremated together and then the ashes spread somewhere nice as a final resting place. We chose the private cremation. We also opted for the paw print memory where they make a clay impression of your pet's paw. I just love it - such a nice touch. They include a certification guaranteeing the private cremation, as well as a sweet condolence card with the rainbow bridge poem. Very touching! Made me cry like a baby of course lol. My Dorfy was the absolute SWEETEST cat I ever knew - all he wanted was pets, cuddles, and food lol! I don't think he ever left my lap anytime I was on the couch. And he would always reach his little paw out for more love anytime I stopped petting him lol! I'm so devastated but I feel like Cal Pet helped my grieving and gave me some closure. I hope I never need this service again - but if I do, I would definitely consider Cal Pet.
*Part 2 of the most heartbreaking reviews I've ever had to write* Not sure how much Yelpers know about animal euthanasia; but I received a crash course with the recent succumbing of my 17 year old Queen, Agora to renal failure (the bestest cat EVER!!! She my was my soul mate and reason to live and I would do ANYTHING to have her back waaaaa!! I will see you in the next life, Agora!). Apparently, when you have to make the horrible decision to euthanize a pet with your local vet; they work with an area crematory whom you pay separately for their services. You don't get to chose what crematory the vet works with and there aren't many in LA. Basically, they have monopolies over jurisdictions. I lost the love of my life at Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital where they work with Cal Pet Crematory in Sun Valley. Unfortunately, I experienced a HUGE hiccup that must be addressed... While at Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital; I was advised that although I pay them for the procedure; I fill out a separate form for Cal Pet Crematory to finish the job and reduce my babe to ashes (waaa, again!). This form contains your contact info, pet name and your choice of services as you can choose from group cremation or private cremation which costs more. There are people who choose group cremation?! What is wrong with you!? It is of no cost to have the ashes returned to the vet for pickup or for an extra $40; Cal Pet will deliver the ashes to your home. You can also visit their website to choose a special urn for your beloved. Cal Pet then calls you after waiting a few days (to let you respectfully grieve), you pay over the phone and after payment is received; they perform the cremation. Here is where shit got bad: I waited several days and heard nothing from Cal Pet and I was starting to worry. It is all fine and dandy that they wait; but I had a bad feeling and I wanted Agora home with me. I called the vet and they said just to give it some more time. I waited a week and a day and I knew something was wrong. I personally called Cal Pet and spoke to a Latina gal who didn't sound at all empathetic or like she gives a shit about her job. I explained that they haven't called me in over a week and I was starting to panic. She found my information and turns out: THEY HAD THE WRONG NUMBER! SUPPOSEDLY, they called the wrong number multiple times and left voicemails. But the thing is: A) this was THEIR ERROR IN PUTTING THE NUMBER IN THE SYSTEM because I triple-checked the form at the vet and it was 100% correct! B) If they supposedly weren't reaching me, CALL THE VET TO TRY TO GET IN TOUCH WITH ME! You're just going to let my cat just "hang out"?! I instantly burst into tears. Yes, mistakes happen but this is NOT the industry to make a mistake and COMMON SENSE SAYS CALL THE VET TO REACH ME! This girl connected me to a manager named Shane whom at least was much more versed at customer service than her. He agreed that this is NOT a mistake that should have been made and that yes, they should have called the vet or taken additional steps. He agreed that I am mourning and grieving and don't need this additional bullshit. Shane took responsibility and although I still had to pay for the private cremation ($140); he gave me free shipping to my home in 2-days so that Agora can come home ASAP and also let me choose ANY urn I wanted off the Cal Pet website. They have various options from bamboo to stone, from traditional to figurine statues. I chose the "Cozy Tabby" urn ($60) which is a heavy resin cat-shaped statue urn. The Cal Pet delivery guy called me two days later as expected to say he was on the way and also called when he arrived. He gave me his condolences (of course I started to cry immediately thinking about my life mate reduced to ashes inside this cardboard box). The Cozy Tabby urn is amazing, though, and way better than the website photo. It is a heavy, legit statue of great craftsmanship with Agora's ashes inside a heavy plastic medical-grade bag in the bottom (it is almost like a piggybank). I absolutely love the urn. Even if ashes, I'm so glad to have Agora home. Although, I am pleased that Shane took responsibility for their error/behavior and gave me free shipping and a free urn of my choosing; the damage is still done and there is a sour taste in my mouth with Cal Pet Again, I realize mistakes are made but this is an industry that should never have any. I suggest in the future that they call THE VET IF YOU PRESUMABLY CAN'T REACH THE PET OWNER! Plus, the receptionist girl needs customer service lessons especially if she is going to be working in an industry dealing with the passing of family members! Thanks to Shane for attempting redemption and that is the only reason this is a 3-star review 'average' rather than lower. RIP AGORA (4/12/2004 - 5/11/2021)

Cal Pet Crematory helped us deal with a difficult situation in the most professional manner. Our hearts were broken one very early morning (5:00 am) when we woke up to find our beloved husky, Luna, had passed away. It was devastating. We could not find a local pet aftercare services place open before 9:00 am so when the clock struck 9:00 we began making calls. Most calls rang and rang, one was kicked to voice mail after 2 rings but Cal Pet was there to answer my call. The lady helping me on the phone showed me compassion and empathy both during the call and in person. She helped me figure out what my best option was and that was to take Luna's body to Cal Pet Crematory. The process was quick and seamless which was very much appreciated as our hearts were/still are forever broken. The last thing my family needed was to have bad service that morning. Luna was taken away by two staff in a very gentle manner but we were first allowed to say our goodbyes while they patiently stood by. One week later Luna was ready to get picked up. I appreciate the way she was delivered to us. We purchased a paw print which was wrapped in box with silver bow. The package included a personalized certificate. Luna was the second pet we have lost. This is never easy but if you're ever in this situation and are looking for pet cremation services, I highly recommend Cal Pet Crematory. read more

My cat's paw print was all claws, barely any paw. And there were pieces of hair and skin stuck in it. I DO NOT recommend paying the extra $25 dollars for the paw print. At all. I also didn't receive a call when my cat's remains were ready, as they said they would. It arrived at my vet on June 4th. I called my vet today only to find out it's been there for 20 days. It's upsetting to lose a pet of 15 years, even more when it's been mishandled. Updated to show what her paws looked like compared to the paw print I received. read more

It's taken me a few months to write something here as this is a painful memory. But the staff at Cal Pet Crematory definitely made my experience as pleasant as possible. I called them at 4:30pm as my dog had just passed away at home, they offered the pick up service for an additional cost but at the time, I wasn't ready to see strangers picking up my best friend of 15 years. Even though they were about to close, they told me to bring him in without rushing, because someone would be waiting for me. I arrived still very emotional, someone came out to greet me with a box of tissues, some water and a blanket. They told me to take my time saying goodbye and even asked me if I had been able to to get some of Guinness' fur, to keep. I'm so glad they they asked , because in a moment like that you forget about everything. They brought me scissors and a ziplock bag where I could store it. I spent a good amount of time with my baby before saying goodbye. I asked them to be present for the cremation, and for an additional $100 (maybe $200 I can't remember), and they told me that it wouldn't be a problem. They kept him refrigerated until the day of our last goodbye 5 days later. The day of the service, they gave me an individual spot with room to have guests, they helped me place flowers around my little angel, there was a fan running the entire time, that was helpful because as expected, there were flies. They offered us water and allowed us more time than we initially discussed. It was a difficult moment and they were extremely empathetic. I watched as they closed the furnace and went to a Starbucks nearby. They called a couple of hours later to let me know that the cremation was over. I headed back to pick up Guinness' ashes. The gentleman that handles the cremation removed the tray and brought it over to finish processing it. They allowed me plenty of time to pick an urn and told me not to rush in picking one as they send you home with one that is included in the package. They encourage you to look online too, in case you see something you like better. I can't recommend this place enough. This was the worst day of my life, and these guys did everything in their power to make it as good as it could be. Great customer service, great communication, price is affordable and to have people like them assisting you in such a difficult moment, is priceless. My dog passed away two weeks ago and a friend recommended I come here for her cremation and service. They don't do euthanasia here, but they will pick up your pet from home or a vet for the cremation service. I recommend using this establishment vs going to your vet for cremation because they handle your pet with such respect and care. I had a service for Maia, wrote a eulogy, had champagne and invited her closest friends. It's small but the fact that Cal Pet let me spend some time with her before cremation to say a few words and allowed us to remember Maia in our way means so much!!! I will always come here moving forward - hopefully I won't need to for a while but these folks are really great. They're professional and respectful of everyone who has lost their pet. read more

I didn`t have a very good experience!! to start off it was very hot the day I needed to take my baby in had just lost him to a very gut-wrenching heartbreaking experience my big dog which I love with all my heart she killed my new little puppy it had just happened it was all so overwhelming and sad to say the least, anyway it was very hot they don`t invite you in your left outside there is very little seating two small benches the last thing a guy that is grief-stricken wants to do is sit in the hot sun next to someone you don`t even know and talk about your little dog final arrangements I`m a 60 yr. old man with several health problems and a bad heart is one of them!! my heart was broken as well as hurting really bad when this woman walked up with her pet in her arms so I gave up my seat now standing in the hot sun with my little baby dead in my arms waiting there must have been 10 or 15 people there and two small benches a small awning not shading us at all you would think for $185.00 they would offer you a place to sit and a private place to talk about money and what you want for your pet but I guess not everyone thinks of there pet as a member of there family anyway after I went and picked Rocky up the $185.00 complimentary urn was so small and downright ugly its baby crap green I took one look at it and said OMG Rocky can`t stay in this it is so ugly if I had known that it was going to look like this I would have paid more ya know the picture was no help in picking this thing out I feel they took advantage of my greif then a few days after I picked him up I start getting all these calls and texts from them asking me, then telling me!!!! to pay up and come pick up my dog I was having the worst day and that just put me over the top I really did think I was going to have a heart attack so I sent them A TEXT TELLING THEM I HAD ALL READY PICKED HIM UP AND THEY HAD BEEN PAID!! they told me when I called to ask about their service I had to pay in full before anything could be done for me as a walk-in It was ALL-BAD!!!! if you ask me they should give me my money back I would not recommend them at all get a waiting room and hire some people that are a little more sensitive! the people that work in your billing department need to get their mess together!! read more

I recently lost my 15 year old cat, Sally. While I am very satisfied with the quality of the box that I purchased, I'm beyond upset with the paw print that I received. I wasted $25 on something that does not even remotely resemble my cats paw print. Employees are very friendly and professional but this is just horrible. Heartbroken all over again. THANK YOU for taking such great care of my baby boy. Here is why Cal Pet is the best of the best. Everyone else wanted to charge me up to an extra $100 to witness the cremation. Not Cal Pet. No extra charge. Everyone else wanted to charge me a pick up fee to pick up my pet from the vet. $75 fee. Not Cal Pet. No charge. They prepped my baby boy so that I could say one last goodbye. He looked like he was sleeping and you turned what I thought was going to be a devastating goodbye into something very sweet and comfortable. I'll never forget your kindness and the great care you took of my pet and me and you didnt try to rip me off during such an emotional and sensitive time. THANK YOU for being so wonderful. I couldn't be more impressed during this very difficult time of losing a loved one. From start to finish, Cal Pet has eased my mind and calmed my heart with what they have done for me. The day my cat passed, I had to rush before they closed to bring my cat's body and arrange her private crematory service. Cal Pet assured me not to worry, they knew I was coming and advised me to drive safely. The gentleman who greeted me upon arrival gave his condolences. He immediately set my viewing date and time which was perfectly aligned with my next day off. (Cal Pet was the only one I knew to offer private viewing). He further assured me he would treat and care for my Oreo, as his own. The day of Oreo's service - was beyond perfect. I was immediately greeted and was kept informed, every step of the way. I was given the opportunity to say my final goodbye, as they allowed me to witness Oreo be wheeled off to her private cremation. Cal Pet did offer a complimentary urn, however I chose to upgrade to a beautiful Lotus urn. I am so glad and relieved I was referred to Cal Pet. They blew me away with how respectful they were to Oreo and my needs to ensure Oreo left this world with such dignity. I do not have enough words for how thankful I am for their gift of peace of mind. From the initial phone call to the timing, final execution and presentation, "Thank You" just is not enough. read more

After losing a loved one, it can be very hard to feel like anyone's out there to help you. I had to put down one of my animals through the vet hospital I go to, who works with Cal Pet. Within a few days time they called me and assured me that my pet was picked up by them, offered their condolences, and told me that it would be 7-10 days. And no later than those 7 days, the hospital had called me to tell me Cal Pet had dropped off my boy to them, and was ready for pickup. They're very kind, timely, and professional! After my dog passed away, TLC veterinary Hospital in South Pasadena referred me to Cal Pet for Pet Cremations. Cal Pet got in touch with me and I selected my package. My pet's ashes were personally delivered to my home and I was very impressed with the packaging and the enclosed sympathy card. Even though this was a difficult time for our family, it was very comforting to see how Cal Pet took the time to be so detailed. Thank you Cal Pet! read more

We lost our cat very suddenly a couple weeks ago, so the next morning, we took him over to Cal Pet where they were so kind and gentle with us. They let us take the time to hold him and say goodbye while we filled out the paperwork. We went with their complementary urn as well as the terra cotta paw print. The print still had some of his hair in it and they pressed his little thumb claw in as well. I know that's not commonly how it's done, but I'm happy with it regardless because it's his. read more

Unfortunately this is the 2nd time in two years that I've needed to use the services of CalPet. Fortunately, they provided the same high level of service that they've given me in the past (this is my 5th dog in 24 years who has been at CalPet!). My beloved 13 year old beagle was euthanized at an animal hospital, and CalPet handled the pickup, cremation and delivery. CalPet contacted me for my engraving request. My girl's remains were just delivered to my home today. All interactions with CalPet were respectful and compassionate and the urn and nameplate were prepared well, as well as the paw print and the packaging; tasteful and classic. Anyone who has lost a pet knows the complete sorrow and sadness to say goodbye. CalPet was absolutely wonderful in handling our Cocker Spaniel. They are respectful when they came to our veterinarian to pick him up, they kept us posted on what was happening with him and our ashes were delivered back to the veterinarian with great sensitivity. I was so grateful to them because I was so devastated I couldn't even think straight. They did everything. I highly recommend them to anyone who has lost their pet and wants the same love given to them after death as you gave to them in life. read more

Big price increase! Bought one of my babies here a year ago. She was 45 pounds and paid $125 with the paw print. Last week bought my baby boy who was 30 pounds (Cancer) and it was $185 with paw print. Yes, they provide a nice service to pet owners, but that's quite the increase. This time I was served my the owner who I won't name, but he sure had a beautiful new German car. Tip, make sure it's one of the ladies that serve you. read more
