We've been getting this pizza off and on for 8 years. Our usual order is 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 sausage. Last few we had only had 1 or 2 pieces of pepperoni on each slice and just 3-4 small pieces of sausage. What a disappointment. I used a GF crust and DF cheese for pizza called the Boozy Bacon, consisting of feta, bacon, peaches, red onions, crushed red pepper seeds, and a bourbon BBQ drizzle. I was excited to see a Detroit pizza diner on the road to Asheville! We stopped for lunch one day on the way back from Jump Off Rock. It wasn't too busy, but sounds like we got there just in time since they ran out of single slices right after we ordered. I got a slice with pepperoni, red pepper, and green onion with a salad. The salad was incredible, I'd go back for that! It was a great fall salad with craisins, candied walnuts, blue cheese, and arugula with a nice vinaigrette on the side. Ate Pi Squared for dinner while visiting town to assist in hurricane relief, and we will be returning before heading out! Amazing food, atmosphere, and service! We came in 20 mins to close, they were very busy, but still took our order very quickly. Once they took our order, we only waited about 15 mins for food. While waiting, we saw excellent service to other folks who were picking their orders up as well. Once we got our food, we asked a question about allergens, and the person we asked was not only very honest about possibility of allergen exposure, he told us how we could order the food to minimize chances of cross contamination. Not impressed with Detroit style pizza. Line was long which I couldn't understand the hype. Maybe its something local that brings people in but sure isn't the price for what you get. Now don't get me wrong the wings were exceptional. I ordered the Kentucky Burbon. If you haven't tried them give it a try. We got "bone in" style and a lot of chicken meat was on the bone. These I would order again without a doubt. The pizza...hmm that wasn't a worthy component. I guess I'm used to the sauce being on the bottom of the pizza and this was a big glob of sauce on the top. We have previously dined at Pi-Squared Pizza, but I'm not sure if I posted a review. It was May 6, 2024. Here, you order and pay at the front counter, they give you a number placard to put on your table, and they bring the food out to you. I got a house salad with ranch dressing, ($9), which had the following ingredients: lettuce, tomatoes, red onions, green peppers, and shredded cheddar cheese; also a small Margherita pizza, ($11.50), which includes fresh basil, garlic, tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. I chose the round shaped pizza, as the Detroit style is "square, with thick, moist crust and made crispy around the edges by an infusion of baked cheese, and then finished with seasoned tomato sauce on top, where it could hit the taste-buds". This description is copied from their website. My husband ordered an oven baked chicken parmesan sub, ($9.50), consisting of breaded chicken and pasta sauce, with melted parmesan and mozzarella cheeses. He got a bag of potato chips as well. The salad was enough to share, with plenty to take home! We each had a fountain soda for only $2.50 a piece. The music was not too loud and had a 1970's vibe - definitely some Motown grooves. Now that I think of it, most of the artists probably got their start in Detroit. (Makes sense!) The bathroom was nice and clean, and it smelled fresh, too. It might be weird to take photos of a restroom, but there were cool photos on the walls, trendy lighting fixtures, and it was just so charming! The employees were very friendly and helpful. Our total was $37.36, paid with our debit card, and we tipped in cash. We ate at the Hendersonville location, which they call The Detroiter, 1972 Haywood Road, Hendersonville, NC 28791; phone (828) 693-0799. Hours are 11am to 9 pm, seven days a week.
