Pros: Outstanding service. A nicer and more attentive waitress is not to be found! Made a chicken wrap at my request though it wasn't a menu item. Cleanliness. Cons: Only fat free ranch available (???) The buffalo sauce needed a lot of help in flavor. Pasta sauce was very watery. There was no scent to indicate it was sauce. When we were paying, the heavy smell of cigarette smoke was noticeable. No one was outside so it had to be coming from the kitchen. Seriously? I miss Connecticut calzones so when I wanted to try a new Connecticut calzone on this trip, I decided to give west main pizza a go. I called in my order and in 20 minutes the food was done. The restaurant itself seems pretty basic for a small town pizza place and the staff was super duper friendly when checking me out. Was I thrilled and happy with the food? Well, no, the answer is no. The calzone was on the smaller side and they definitely didn't include enough sauce to use, which is always my biggest problem when it comes to some places and sauce. The calzone itself wasn't bad, the sausage and meatball were both good and the same goes for the mozzarella cheese. My main issue with the calzone was the actual shell, I just didn't love it sadly. Overall, West Main Pizza was an alright experience. The food wasn't bad and the staff was friendly. If you live in the Plainville are, this place is worth checking out! read more

Ordered their taco pizza and quesadillas. It was loaded and flavorful. If you are going here, explore the menu, don't go for the easy stuff. Service was a bit dull, but they were understaff. There's always an excuse as to why they stopped cooking early when they close at 9 but their grill closes at 7:30 and you have a limited menu. Haven't been to West Main Pizza in Plainville for dinner in a while, big mistake big! Started out with artichoke spinach soup, delicious! Fresh homemade with lots of artichoke and spinach, and creamy. Dinner was chicken marsala for me and fresh made clam strips for my date. It took a minute for us to get our food but it was definitely worth the wait. If you want premade food go to McDonalds. The food here is freshly made and didn't break the bank. WARNING !! Paying with a credit card you are charged a 4% surcharge on all order. This alone turns me off of any place since I should not be paying extra for your credit card fees. It's a cost of doing business, build it in to your prices like every other business. And calling it a cash discount is just legal semantics to not violate the law. Sports beer and pizza West Main pizza is not a visually sunning example of architecture. It looks like someone parked a double wide from the local trailer park where the restaurant is suppose to be. But I have a feeling people don't come here for the ambiance and aesthetics. The building is actually larger than it looks from the outside but that isn't saying much. A long hallway and register in the middle with a small dining room on one end and a bar on the other. The bar is cozy, just a few TVs and some sports memorabilia. Lots of cool Celtic, Red Sox and Pats stuff but also some horrible Yankee items. You can get cooties just standing near pictures of Jeter or A-Rod. I am tempted to take off a few stars for the nauseating Yankee pictures but this is western Connecticut so I guess the restaurant has to be diplomatic and mollify people actually ignorant enough to follow the Yankees. I've never eaten in the restaurant but have taken out pizza here on many occasions. I'm hardly a connoisseur of pizza but to my unsophisticated pallet and belly this is excellent. Lots of veggies or meat on top and never greasy. Most importantly, it's consistent from one time to another and you always know what you're getting. I've eaten in a lot of pizza joints and this is definitely in my top 10 percent. So if you don't care about atmosphere or snootiness and just want some damn good pizza this is a place to check out. Hometown style of pizza place. They are a Greek pizza restaurant, which to me means the crust is too thick. We had good service. Sam Adams Season, Goose Island IPA, Blue Moon are some of the beers they have on tap. I did enjoy their stuffed mushrooms; 4 medium size caps with some kind of breading and I think red potato or radish squiggles. The pizza was decent; we had pepperoni. If I had the option of selecting negative stars I would. I've always concerned Pizza shops to be a friendly Family inviting environment you know. I did not dine in, and i should have went with my gut feeling by the way I was spoken to when I placed my order. But I figure I have met 2 employees MIke and an older gentleman Sonny who actually gave me his card and told me to try this location seeing how he over heard my kids taking about pizza at the store one day and insisted I try. So I proceed to ask if I can order a party size pizza. Lady who's name starts with an M states very rudely that's going to take some time. I remain calm because "DUH I wasn't askin for a bagel bite"!! I ask how long she's like 1.5 hrs, while it took my 3 seconds to think and process if I wanted to continue she's like " you can get 2 large pizzas for the same price as were very busy and making 2 large for the same price of a party size with one topping was more time effective with them and would be better for me since it will be quicker. So I place the order. I then asked for a 10 piece hot buffalo wings and was told that the mild was hot enough. Wait are you for real !!!! I'd like them HOT !!! So, now it's time to pick my order up !! MILD wings come out !! The pricing is almost $10 over. So yeah something ain't right so the cashier went to get another worker. I proceed to grab the menu that's for customer to take and the menu that's laminated. So my calculations and come out to a different price then their receipt. The new cashier proceeds to state that that's what in their computer so that's what the price is... There is no way in HELL you going to have 20+ menus but charge me something completely different !!! First thing I look at when choosing or debating on trying a new place is the price !!! Then she proceeds to question did I add in the taxes ?? Ok so now you want to blame it on taxes. I know CT has their 6.35% which would boost it up $2 and Change not $10. She's like oh well we need to tell the guys to fix our menus adding in the higher amount that she tried to charge me. I pay the price in which was calculated on my end and leave. The reason for this 1 star review is NOT because of the food. The food is decent. Some of the staff, especially one of the managers or the only manager, are so rude. I understand everyone has a bad day once in a while but we asked what kind of fries do you have which resulted in the manager hanging up on us. When we called back she said "it wasn't a waitress who hung up, it was me and I'm the manager" with no apology whatsoever.This is atrocious behavior and we were once so fond of this place, but will never return after today. Re the service: STRIKE ONE: called a take out order, female took the order, said ready in 15 minutes. Arrived for pickup 20 minutes later, and they had NO RECORD OF THE ORDER. We sat and waited another 15 minutes while the order was prepared, with not a hint of compensation from management for the inconvenience. STRIKE TWO: called take out order, picked it up, and unfortunately, did not open the box until arriving home. The pizza was loaded with toppings we would never have ordered. We scraped them off and managed to eat anyway. STRIKE THREE: arrived with family, sat in lounge area at corner table. And waited. And waited. Finally, I went up to the bar to order. And waited. Since I have been ordering here for years and years, I have seen that the large pizza got a little smaller and pricier but it is still big enough to feed a family of 4. They have the best sausage here, it's the crumbled sausage as opposed to the sliced sausage. Love how you can actually see the spices in the meat -- very flavorful.
