From the moment I walked in, the space gave cozy, upscale vibes, warm lighting, stylish design, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to linger. Though I can't remember my server's name, she was truly exceptional.. attentive, warm, and knowledgeable. Now onto the food: I had the salmon salad (with extra pickled onions) and the smoky corn chowder. The salmon was cooked perfectly juicy, tender, and flavorful. The chowder was bold and rich, with a smoky depth that made each spoonful better than the last. Whether you're staying at the hotel or just in the area, this spot is worth a visit. This was the worst dining experience of MY ENTIRE LIFE. The service was slow and incompetent, the food took 40 minutes to come out with the excuse of "we're super busy"... the restaurant was nearly empty. On top of the wait time for the food, it came out cold like it had been sitting out for a while before getting to our table. There were no water refills, we literally had to take the water pitcher to the back to ask for more water. I am disappointed I gave this restaurant the time of day, two hours of my life WASTED and I left starving. 0/5 stars. read more

I was not a guest of the hotel, but chose to have lunch at Sky Creek Kitchen. I was expecting typical, bland hotel food but much to my surprise it wasn't like that at all! 5 Star burger named The Bonnie and Clyde Smash Burger. Service was awesome, there were plenty of TVs to watch the games. The restaurant is connected to the hotel, but the food that's offered is very gourmet. The Bonnie and Clyde Smash Burger was firing on all cylinders. The burger was cooked to perfection, and didn't lack in taste. Also, I didn't need to adjust the burger with salt and pepper because the was perfectly seasoned. We stayed in the Delta Hotel for a wedding and this was the restaurant attached to the side of the Sky Creek Bar. We only were able to eat for breakfast one day, but will say we were not disappointed. From the very attentive host Jesus, to the bold, flavorful coffee (really want to know what brand they brew), it was a pleasant and tasty breakfast. We chose the Southwestern Breakfast Tacos and the Omelette both were really good and the potatoes... don't forget those I promise. Glad Jesus asked but also I chose to have some flavor. Cholula Hot Sauce on my taters were nice! If we are in the NW Dallas area again, we will be staying at the Delta and will be having breaky here. So good. read more

Go to fast food!.food looks NOTHING like the images. Idk if the cook was having an off night or what. We got two cowboy burgers for $28 each. For that price, I'm expecting a delicious looking burger, right? When they come out... I'm not joking or exaggerating when I say they look like Burger King burgers. It was beef and cheese on a bun, nothing else so worse than Burger King tbh for $28?!... not to mention the hidden up charge on the waters for $6 each. We had a very nice experience here at Sky Creek Kitchen and Bar. We stopped in last Sunday evening at 5:30 for a nice meal. We were seated across from the kitchen which was pretty neat. I always enjoy watching chefs working their craft. The table was for five of us for my wife's birthday dinner. I will say their menu is not an all out extravaganza of food. You can see the menu was selected to pair with each other. To start we had some very delicious bread with butter in honey. We ordered two appetizers, the bbq Texas quail and The blue corn breaded gulf shore oysters. The quail had a very nice batter and dressings. The oysters were pretty good as well. For the main course that two of us ordered was the Grilled "Mopped" Bison Ribeye, grilled medium rare. The mopped is sort of a bbq sauce mole that is brushed on the ribeye. The ribeye sits on a bed of mashed potatoes with an overall Tex-Mex flavor to it. Hardly no marbling at all to this cut of meat. It was a really good steak and I did enjoy the Tex-mexiness of the plate. I now want to try a buffalo ribeye with my own seasoning and grill it, to see how it tastes. My wife ordered the red-snapper which came out cooked perfectly. The crab salad tamale was different but enjoyable. Our other party member ordered the Ribeye 12 oz. The ribeye came out grilled as ordered which is always a great sign. Overall we had a great experience and look forward to coming back. read more

If you're a gambling addict - this is the place for you. From reservation to dessert, everything is hit or miss. Made an Open Table reservation - they had no idea who I was, when I got there. But thank God I made a reservation (not) because at 530pm, we were one of two tables taken, in the entire place - and it never "filled up". I think after eating there, I know why not. The menu is interesting but limited. At 530pm they will mysteriously try to steer you away from the all-day menu, which is way more interesting and enticing than the odd-ball choices the dinner menu presents you with. What do I mean by "odd"? Maple Syrup Black Pepper Tenderloin. "Ancho Chili Dr. Pepper braised 44 Farms Short Rib" - yes, that's the name of the dish, on the menu and it is ONE rib. Chipotle chicken nachos, pork tacos, B&C Smashed Burgers are on the "all-day" menu, which again, they try to discourage you from ordering off of. I guess "all-day" doesn't include 530pm. Libations: the cocktails are decent enough. Nothing life-changing, but good. The spiced apple sangria is very tasty. Food: A+ to F range. The red pepper hummus was pasty and tasted like soap. The chipotle chicken nachos were awesome. The short rib sliders themselves were good. The "fresh made" potato chips were burnt - they need to either cut down on cooking time, or filter their fry vat - they actually tasted refired from lunch. The salmon from "the bay of Fundy" was overcooked and came with a bizarre looking ratatouille brussel sprout side did that tasted ok to me and ghastly to my wife. Dessert: the peanut butter bar isn't a bar and the presentation - you gotta check out the photo I inserted. There was a TEASPOON of ice cream next to a creamy peanut-butter-like glob that made everyone on the table crack up. The night was inexcusably LONG. It was a 2 HOUR+ dinner. Nothing happens fast, even though they looked over-staffed. The server was polite, but s/he can only bring food out when the kitchen finishes it. And you can see from the menu, the dinner menu is pricey. No wonder they want you to avoid the all-day menu that is more interesting, and less expensive. Grade: D ... there were some items that were great. Many that we a train wreck. The service time was ridiculously long. If you're in a hurry, want everything to taste good, and want to impress guests? Go someplace else. If you like gambling, give this place a try. You might score - you might not. read more

Mmmm...my mouth is STILL watering just thinking about this place. Adjacent to the Delta by Marriott Hotel, Sky Creek is a cozy and chic restaurant attached to the building. It's expansive bar and contemporary seating, give it just the right touch for a date night or a night out with friends or family. Since it was Valentine's Day weekend, they had a special themed cocktail and dessert menu, which I HAD to partake in, of course. Everything from their bread, which came with butter drizzled in honey...OMG , to the dessert, and everything in between was delicious. The food was the perfect temperature and seasoned to absolute perfection. What really capped off the night was the tremendous customer service we received from the moment we walked in the door. The host lead us to our table, pulled out my chair, and gently placed a napkin in my lap. It was a nice touch to say the least. Our server Jesus was incredible. He was friendly, helpful, and cracked some pretty funny jokes. I'm rating this place a five out of five because Yelp, unfortunately doesn't go any higher. This place lives up to its hype, especially for a restaurant inside a hotel (the Delta by Marriott). The plate was mind blowingly beautiful, I almost didn't want to break into it. I ordered the salmon with butternut squash pure and micro greens with a chorizo sauce. It had an incredible balance of flavors and textures, the chorizo sauce added a level of complexity as spice to the plate that made it very original. The Staff was very attentive, even the chef came out to chat the tables and see everyone tasted great. A must stop if in the South Lake area for a nice dinner. read more

Not a fan of the service. My wife and I stopped by for a quick drink and am appetizer. It was D-E-A-D, dead. Two nice and polite and friendly young ladies were at the hostess stand for the restaurant and they greeted us and sat us in the bar area....but not at the bar per say. Then a bartender walks to our table and just sorta looks at us: she doesn't say anything as I recall, so with a real friendly and cheerful demeanor, I was like "Hi...I hope you're having a great night! Thanks for stopping in...can I get you guys a drink or an appetizer or something" -- I say this inside my head, not out loud -- that would be rude and confrontational! It was weird. Anyway, we awkwardly ordered drinks and some wings. When they were brought to our table she just kinda plopped them down. Didn't really say anything. I make better wings and can pour my own drinks at home...you go out so you don't have to - and for service. You don't get really get service here - at least not from that bartender. I wish I knew her name so I could call her out (description: short, a little chunky, black, female, and grumpy). Everyone else seemed pretty friendly...we got the dud! I had heard good things about this place was it was a disappointment when we finally went. It was a Friday night dinner and the staff seems to do double duty with the open concept hotel bar. The place was empty - unusual for Friday night seating. There was maybe one or two other tables out of 20 maybe when we arrived and by 9 pm it was cleared out. The vegetarian options attracted our crowd but the cauliflower "steak" was pretty mediocre. I had the scallop special with gnocchi. It came with maybe four gnocchi. It was good but hardly $40 worth. The pasta was really heavy on the cream and the steak frites had pretty meh French fries. The rolls were tasty though. read more

This fine dining restaurant in the Delta hotel is a gem and a perfect date night location. Last night the hostess was MIA, but the talented bartender greeted us as soon as she could. One of the chef's sat us in the lovely dining room, which we had all to ourselves. (Covid season, part 2) My husband ordered their old fashioned and I got the margarita. Both cocktails were delicious. I like both drinks, but the margarita was my favorite of the two. (No surprise to find out later that Dean Fearing had his hand in the making of this menu/restaurant; I love his margaritas at the Ritz Dallas.) For appetizers, we split the burrata salad and the tortilla soup. The burrata salad was fresh and delicious. It had an interesting spice, like maybe nutmeg, that made it warm while still being cold. Genius. The tortilla soup was heavy on paprika, but still delightful. Next I ordered the shrimp and black bean taco on corn, as I have to eat gluten free. The taco hit all the needs: full of flavors, crispy bell pepper slices, slaw, smooth black beans and delectable shrimp. My husband enjoyed the short ribs in grits with slices of breaded and fried okra. The meat was perfectly cooked! It looked sous vide to me, but I did not try it. We skipped dessert, but they had plenty to offer. Keep in mind, this is fine dining. You are not going to get large portions like you're at IHOP. This is well thought out dishes to delight your palate while enjoying conversation in a stylish atmosphere. Since this lovely restaurant is located in a hotel, my husband's khaki shorts and my jeans were perfect as resort casual. We will be back and will bring friends! I live in Southlake and I love to stop by Delta Hotel and Sky Creek Ranch bar to work in the afternoons. Beautiful atmosphere, great food and flawless service - until today. I decided to try the chicken nachos on the happy hour menu, which had 2 of the ingredients listed - one of which was raw. I asked if anything else raw was on the nachos and was assured there was not. (I am highly allergic and always double check). The nachos come out and they look amazing - except the bottom layer is covered in guacamole. I kindly ask for them to remake them, (seeing how eating them would possibly kill me?!?) - and this flustered the waitress. Next, the manager of the restaurant arrives at my table to inform me not to order their nachos, because they all come with guac, but that he would go ahead and remake them. What?!? I literally ASKED what came on them and wasn't told and it was my fault it wasn't on the menu or listed when I asked. New nachos arrive and are fine. But then, the waitress announces to the next table very loudly when she delivers THEIR food - are you ok? Are you allergic to anything??? Is everything alright?!? Like seriously people. I just can't. I love them but this was a ridiculous customer service disaster and makes me never want to come back, so I can be lectured by a a manager and made to feel a simple request was so over the top. read more

Arrived early for our valentines dinner on a Saturday night to have a cocktail at the bar. The bartenders were busy, but the drinks were tasty. I had a martini and my wife ordered one of their craft cocktails. We sat down at 6:15 and they sat us at a special 2-top next to the kitchen. It was amazing to watch the chef work. The experience was wonderful! We started off with a bottle of Cab and ordered a side of gnocchi for our appetizer. It was delicious! There were details infused into the dish I didn't expect and was amazing! For the main course, I ordered the Ancho Chili Dr Pepper braised short rib. It was on a bed of grits. My bride ordered the salmon. We shared a bit of each and I'm telling you, there is nothing on this menu that sucks. Chef knows his business and doesn't let a plate go out that the presentation isn't 100! For dessert we had the peanut butter bar which is a PB/chocolate thing. Amazing if your stomach can afford it. It comes with a side of bacon ice cream and jelly. It melted in my mouth and I'm going back. I know it looks like a hotel restaurant, but you really need to give it a try! We had a great experience here. Just FYI, it is inside of the Delta Marriott, which was nice. Food and service were great. Jessica was our server, and she was so attentive, kind, and very knowledgeable about the menu. She mentioned that they have a great chef there, and it was evident. We ordered the steak, the short rib, the salmon, and each were phenomenal. For dessert we had a carrot cake and the peanut butter pie. As I mentioned, the restaurant is inside the Marriott hotel, and I think the location is new, so the restaurant itself is new and modern. Great experience and we definitely look forward to returning. The food will remain unrated as my wife and I were unable to eat at this restaurant. This was because the staff was so rude that we were left standing for about 15 min unattended and when my wife went in to ask if someone will seat us or if we were expected to seat ourselves she was addressed rudely . When she approached a server named 'Maria' and and asked about seating she was rudely told "I don't know" and the server walked away. At this point my wife was livid and I had determined that this establishment was undeserving of my hard earned capital. We heard really good things about this place and it is close by so we decided to go there for an anniversary dinner. It is a small hotel restaurant but nicely decorated and great ambience despite that. We were greeted warmly by the staff. In fact, a couple of service bobbles aside, everyone was attentive and friendly. Decent wine list. Not extensive, but covers all the bases and reasonably priced. My Pinot noir was served way too chilled, though. Reds should be served slightly cooler than room temperature and this was cold. The menu is limited, but I prefer just a few offerings cooked properly over a huge menu of mediocre food. You can definitely see Dean Fearing's influence in the kitchen. Lots of Southwest touches to classic dishes. Portions are large. An amuse of tiny jalapeño biscuits with butter and maple syrup came first. My wife doesn't really like jalapeño, but we both enjoyed these. We started with an appetizer of burrata served with peaches, tomatoes, and Green Goddess dressing. I didn't taste it, but my wife enjoyed it. I got a Caesar salad. It wasn't a classic preparation with added touches like corn, charred escarole, and red pepper tortilla strips. It was okay. I can't say anything particularly good or bad about it. Mains were a halibut steak in a glaze served with purée of cauliflower and roasted broccolini. My wife really enjoyed it. I got the rack of lamb with merguez sausage, falafel, and a cous cous salad with blueberries and roasted baby carrots. The lamb was perfectly cooked and tasty, but needed a bit of salt. I really liked the tiny falafel balls and the sausage. The carrots were good but wasn't thrilled with the cous cous. Desserts were a flourless Mexican chocolate torte for her and a "peanut butter bar" consisting of dark chocolate ganache, white chocolate mousse, and peanut mousse for me. We both considered them a bit too sweet. But when I just ate the peanut butter mousse it was perfect. Good after dinner coffee. Service was friendly and eager. A couple of small errors, such as the waiter forgot to bring my wife a knife with dinner and we had to remind him about the coffees. There was a bit of a wait for the food, but not excessive. Atmosphere is elegant but casual. Dress there is everything from business suits to shorts. The place is a bit expensive, but offers high end dining in a casual environment and good portion sizes. Definitely far better than you would expect from a small business hotel by the highway. read more

Brought the family here for dinner last night and WOW! The atmosphere was really cool, but it didn't hold a candle to the food and the service. Jesus was a fantastic server, and Enam, the executive chef and food and beverage director was very attentive and knowledgeable. We had the shrimp taco and burrata appetizers, both were dynamite. My wife and I then both got the bison ribeyes which were delicious and perfectly executed. Fantastic char on the outside and very tender red inside. The restaurant itself is intimate, with several tables boasting views of the bustling kitchen. The staff is warm, taking its cues from the larger than life former chef from the Mansion and more recently, East Texas' Chophouse on Bankhead.
