My husband and I visited West Valley Optometry for the first time yesterday. It was a very pleasant experience. Dr. Escobar showed interest and explained everything wonderfully. They have a much more up to date and modern type of practice then I have been accustomed to which we also appreciated. Julie was very helpful with the process of picking out frames. I did not feel like they were trying to upsell or that that was the focus of their practice which is something I have experienced in the past. All the staff is very friendly and COVID protocols were definitely in place and observed. I like this type of practice where it appears the staff are all very happy working there. The staff is competent and qualified however, Dr. Minie seemed impersonal and annoyed when he was asked questions. He doesn't Seem to be much for socializing and he is rather short with all conversation. If your looking for competent optical service this place does quite well with all services. As my doctor, he made himself available to me by phone during off-business hours when I really needed his help with an eye infection I was having. I came into the office because I had driving glasses years ago and hadn't had a chance to get them updated until now. My first time going here was great. I had a wonderful experience. Dr. Chowdhry was great. She gave me options, she listened, she let ME choose what I wanted to do but gave me her professional opinion. Overall great. I left feeling accomplished and wonderful. I paid for my glasses and left. A few days later I received a phone call that my glasses were ready(1 or 2 days before they were supposed to be done [PLUS])! SCORE! I went home happy. A few days later I realized that my glasses had glare. Dr. Chowdhry said that I should get anti-glare, especially since i'm on the computer all the time and reading with sunlight, etc. and i thought that she had written it and I had discussed it with the receptionist/the girl fitting the glasses. So, I went back, had to pay because apparently they didn't charge me for the anti-glare. I believed them, so i paid left my glasses with the original case they gave me and had to wait about a week..this time it was about 7-8 days. *sigh* FINALLY, my glasses are IN, YAY! I was excited because I could never be able to afford Calvin Klein glasses, I felt super cool! When I got my glasses, I got them in a cheap 99 cents case. My original CK case was gone :(. I didn't get my cool CK case back. I still feel a little jipped because no one told me that there may be a possibility of not getting it back. I LOVED that case! I know, i know..giving WVO 3 stars for not giving me my CK case back is kind of dumb, but it's not just that, the waiting...pretty much 2 weeks, the not getting the original prescription right..and of course, not telling me that "maybe you want to hang on to the case." Overall the service was great, but the delays and the errors and the sadness makes me a little weary about how they service their customers.Also, it could have just been me. I've definitely learned from this experience, but I will go back in the future. read more

I came in here for the first time this last weekend, and all I can say is that this place was an absolute pleasure to do business with. Prior to coming here I had been going to LensCrafters for years and will never go back. For starters, Dr. Minnie was great and very professional. He methodical in his approach and explained every step as he went through the process. It was great knowing what was going on. After the exam, Patricia helped me pick out frames and was very professional and kind during this process. She helped me pick out the right pair of glasses based on my budget, and had no problem calculating the total cost for me, despite me picking a handful of frames. What I loved about Patricia and the other staff was that nobody was being pushy with sales, and were all very personable. Patricia helped me along every step and answered all my questions and was willing to work with me. I praise everyone here and could not have been happier with my visit. Linda was amazing and so was Dr K! The exam was easy and Linda explained all the tests as she was conducting it for my wife and I. Then during the exam, the Dr asked if we had anymore questions~ they have a great selection of Calvin Klein frames, Raybans, Nike, Fendi, and lots of others. Went in the morning, no line. Oh and when we paid, we left, and Linda called us back up to say she accidentally charged us a bit more and voided the charge and took our cc over the phone and saved us $20. So I needed an eye appointment to renew my NYS drivers license and I came here. The ENTIRE staff was amazing.. I did all my testing quick and easy. Turns out I have 20/20 vision but the doctor recommended glasses for driving. I have vision coverage so I got some glasses.. No hard sell.. This place was a amazing. The girls in the front are very nice. My wife's eye glasses had broke and I could not fix it. I called and the girl who answered the phone told me to bring it in. They repaired the eye glasses and cleaned it up for no charge!! This is what I call service, I will bring all my optometry business to West Valley Optometry from now on. It's way beyond time to write a review of our experience with Dr. Minie. We've been patients of his for around 25 years; I think we were among his first upon his graduation from Optometry College. Dr. Minie earned our loyalty many years ago with his thoroughness, knowledge and dedication to his patients. When our family first started seeing him, we lived only a few miles from his office. For the last 13 years, we've lived about a 40 minute drive away. He is worth the drive. I don't think you'll find a better optometrist! read more

Great optometrist. I've been going here for several years now. They have state of the art equipment that assists with your exam - all of which is painless, quick and non-invasive. The staff is very friendly and helpful and Dr. Minie is very nice, thorough and does a great job explaining the current condition of your eyes and answering any questions you may have. They have a nice selection of frames, but they don't pressure you to buy. I've also referred my 89 year old dad to Dr. Minie and dad is very happy with his care. This review should have been written 6-7 years ago, but better late than never! Dr. Minie is a very dedicated and professional doctor, with an outstanding staff. I personally believe Dr. Minie saved my life and I will always be grateful. I came to his office for glasses, and when they arrived, I tried them on and they were fine. One week later I put the glasses on and everything was blurry so I went back to see Dr. Minie and explained the situation. He asked me if I had ever been checked for diabetes (and I had not) but I went to my doctor and got checked. Low and behold, they diagnosed me as diabetic! Luckily, with proper nutrition and exercise I have been controlling my diabetes since, but things could have gone in a very different direction had Dr. Minie not suggested what he did. I can't thank Dr. Minie enough, he should be called Dr. Mighty! I would not hesitate to recommend his office for quality care. read more

My problem with them is that they twice couldn't answer a question but promised they would call me back with an answer, but they never did. Once by the front desk, the other by OD Francisca Escobar who did my exam.This leaves me with an unresolved issue that will only be solved by me having to "kick and scream" to get their attention. Dr Minie is wonderful. His eye exams are very thorough. When I get glasses I never go back for adjustments, the glasses are perfect. He is very knowledgeable. Dr. Minie is so pleasant. I took my mom in, she's just a couple of weeks shy of turning 98 and she loves him. She was very impressed at the time and patience he gave her. Best place to go for glasses. The optometrist spend a long time with me and tried very hard to get my vision corrected to as near as 20/20 as he could...not successfully but I appreciated the effort and time spent. horrible horrible!!! stay clear of this office. the front desk staff seem nice and friendly however they have no idea what they are doing. the doctor is just plain rude. this office charged me for frames i never even received! the doctor in office then tells me that "cashing that check should not be a problem that i should have the low amount in my account". he was completely out of line and rude. i will not ever return and will advise my insurance company of what rude and unprofessional doctor's they have in their directory. stay clear of west valley horrible horrible horrible!!! read more

I am amazed by the extraordinary level of customer service this place has. It is not surprising that they are experiencing phenomenal growth at this time. I recently had an eye examination with West Valley Optometry and I was completely floored by the size of the office as well as the knowledge of the supporting staff. I did not have to wait for service and a young lady by the name of Beatriz demonstrated above expected knowledge of the products their company had to offer with regards to my eyeglass, frame and lens of choice. I didn't feel like I was being sold to I felt like they were catering to my individual needs! Dr. Minie is a professional who shows through his rapport that he loves his work. I just moved to the canoga park area a few weeks ago and was in need of a new optometrist for my family of 4. This office is like 5 minutes from my house and the reviews on here were pretty good so I decided to give it a try. I was at lowes Thursday morning so I figured I'd stop by and check the office out and make my appointment in person. It was like 8:30 and the sign said they opened at 9 so I waited in my car. So it's now 9:00 and it's still closed. 9:05 and still closed and now there was a person standing outside waiting. It was like 9:10 or 9:15 when they finally opened which annoyed me so I just left. Super unprofessional to keep people waiting outside. Will take my business elsewhere. read more
