Went today for the fish and chips. All I can say is WOW. Really really good fish and chips. Very fresh and cooked to perfection. We also had an appetizer the Bang Bang Shrimp. Awesome shrimp and very large shrimp. Most restaurants use small frozen shrimp not here. A MUST try appetizer. Go try the food and you will not be disappointed. I also want to add the owner came to the table. Listen that means so much. Most owners stay in a back room and you never see them. An owner coming to the table to ask how are things mean so much. My first time here in a long time. Pleasantly surprised on how good everything was. We ordered the lobster bisque and clam chowder and both were very good. Had a sushi grade "tuna stacks" appetizer and really enjoyed it. Baked stuffed shrimp, seafood pasta entrees were both very good. To top it off we have mud pie for dessert and holy crap it was good. Our server was friendly and helpful even though he said his favorite thing was the "chicken Sandwich " at a seafood restaurant, LOL If you're looking for well prepared old-fashioned Seafood this is the place. This is right down the street from us and we sometimes forget it's there and go to route 5 but on the way there if we pass by we always stop because the food is so good and the bartender is amazing they make a great drink called a dreamcatcher definitely ask for that. So we decided to get take from Westbrook Lobster, we've eaten there before the foods ok not bad alittle pricey for the portion sizes but whatever times are changing but this time i just had to comment because i got the baked stuff shrimp for $27.00 we decided to splurge alittle we i couldnt believe it when it came, only 3 shrimp well really 2 1/2, the 3rd one was so small, rice pilaf was all gummy and mixed vegetables were hard not cooked which in most cases i dont mind the veggies alittle hard thats where the vitamins are but come on did ya cook them at all?!! I was visiting this area for the first time and didn't go wrong stopping at this restaurant. We had a party of three and I ordered the lobster roll, another person ordered the head lettuce salad with crab Rangoon's to go with. Our last person ordered the swordfish. We were all very content with our meals that were very tasty and Pleasing to the eye. The interior of the building had a lot to look at including a 8 foot size lobster. The building looks like it may have been an old manufacturing plant with antique looking brick walls. Service was fast and menu prices were reasonable. Met up with some friends here for a late night dinner and to check out their Sunday happy hour! We spent all of our time in the bar so this review will be reflecting that. Appearance/Atmosphere: Not much to see on the outside but some vinyl siding, a big sign and welcoming entryway. The private parking lot is huge plus. Wood floors, wood bar and antique-looking chandeliers hang over the tables. The dim lighting and soft music creates a very calm and relaxing mood that makes you want to stay to hang out. Minimal wall decor gives a very mature feel as well as the formal-ness of the staff. Service: Miller was cool. He was super attentive, checked in on us often, made sure we had everything that we needed and overall did his job like we expected to see except for honoring something that we saw on the restaurant's online menu, but apparently out of date? I'll explain in the next section. Food: Food was okay. We had read online that their wings were on the happy hour menu only to find out that not only were the wings not a part of the happy hour, but that they were a part of their "Bar Bites Menu" and only had 2 orders left. Really dude? Sunday night during happy hour and you only have a total of 16 wings left at 8:00pm? We couldn't even try all the flavors they had to offer with just 16 wings. Not that we wanted to, but it's the principle! We were able to try their Buffalo sauce and their Honey Chipotle (yes, we ordered the last 2 orders of wings). Lol. They were okay. Nothing to write-home about, but were decent. Crispy skin, a burst of flavor, but no original taste. We also got an order of their Margherita flatread which was better than the wings in my opinion. Value: Decent. Wings were basically $1.00 per wing and come in orders of 8 though we thought they were going to be much cheaper. The flatbread was $6.00 and was a decent size for 1 person. Good amount of alcohol in the $5.00 well-drink and a great pour for their $6.00 house wine. Worth the money if you make it in here. So we RESEARCHED places that had happy hours on Sundays and this was one of those places. We looked at the menu on THEIR WEBSITE and saw they had wings featured on their menu. THIS was the reason we chose to meet ALL THE WAY in Wallingford with our friends, the wings on happy hour. Because, why not?! Wings are expensive so when we can find them on special, we're in there! But when we get there we are told that the website is out-of-date, that they don't keep up with it and won't honor what we saw on the website. That's messed up. That's how you do business and keep customers coming back? This has happened to me before where I've seen something on a business's website that differed in the restaurant, they honored it without a question. I'm torn between giving WL a three star review or a four star review. Overall, service, food quality, speed of service was all very good. The CT lobster roll was busting with lobster and butter and was very good and enjoyable. The reason why I went with three stars is more based on my experience, which was hopefully isolated to just me however, my experience none the less. I was visiting my in-laws in the Wallingford/ Cheshire area recently and everyone mentioned the CT lobster roll at Westbrook Lobster. I was traveling from NC so the only time I get a lobster roll worth mentioning is when I go to the northeast. I had been traveling all day and didn't have much time to grab food so I was starving. My brother in law picked me up from the airport and my first request was a stop by WL. We placed an online order about 20 minute from WL for two rolls and fried shrimp. The order went through, I received an email confirmation and all was good. When we arrived a few minutes before 6pm we were greeted by locked doors and a sign advertising they were undergoing renovations on that day. The next day I placed an order over the phone, fool me once..., the staff were all very friendly and quick to take my order. When I arrived my order was ready and everything went smoothly. I mentioned the transaction and the hostess went back to talk to the manager and when the hostess returned she said "they found the transaction and credited back the transaction". I would have expected some credit towards the meal for the mishap or something but apologies were we received. When I returned home and checked my credit card there was the charge...still on my card and never credited or deleted. I spent a good amount of time with the credit card company trying to undo this mess. read more

This place is sooooo good!!! The food was so fresh and the service was insanely good. James was so welcoming, his timing for everything is impeccable and he truly made us feel catered to. The two other lovely waitresses were super accommodating after we received the wrong salad. I honestly should have just kept it because it looked amazing. I did have the goat cheese salad with salmon and let me tell you....this was the best salmon I've ever gotten on a salad. So tasty, cooked to perfection and seasoned amazing. First time here, for lunch. We sat outside and were served immediately. The food came out very quickly as well--our server was exceptional. We had mostly appetizers this time around: New England clam chowder soup, lobster nachos, and a half dozen cold oysters. Thankfully, there seems to be a "minimum bar" for the quality of clam chowder at restaurants around these parts, and the soup was excellent--just the right balance of clams to everything else. The oysters were served on ice with cocktail sauce, and were suitably fresh. The lobster nachos were the standout here--the restaurant's choice of tortilla chip, lightly fried, blended beautifully with the beans, corn, salsa, and sour cream, topped with generous portions of lobster. I'd recommend getting this no matter what else you try. My kid had the cheeseburger and fries. This is usually pretty "ho hum" fare at restaurants, but interestingly it's a superb item on the menu. The beef is very flavorful and juicy, the bun is pillowy and fresh, and the serving size is substantial for a child's meal. We'll be back! read more

I went with my family, since we were on a short getaway to CT. My child had a pizza with wild rice which was under the kid's special. He ate it all, so no complaints there. My mother had the risotto, and it was flavorful. I always go for fun seafood options, so I had a dozen of the raw oysters...which were fantastic. The hostess and waitress were both friendly and awesome, and I felt excited to be there. It did have a bit of a date vibe, but it did seem kid friendly. Great casual atmosphere in the bar setting area. Fish and chips are fantastic and this is my favorite place to go for my "fix."

My husband and I ate on the newly renovated patio last weekend and had a wonderful experience. We arrived early and sat at the bar and they had Athletic brewing NA beer which isn't the easiest to find but really hit the spot. We shared calimari and shrimp cocktail appetizers and I had the CT lobster roll and my husband had the lobster mac and cheese. All were excellent. We barely had room for dessert, but we went for the ice cream sundae to share and it was fantastic. Service was top notch, ambiance was great, will be back soon! read more

3.5 stars. So I have now been here about three times. I like the atmosphere so so much. The views are lovely and make for a nice and relaxing time. Westbrook is very rustic and has a great atmosphere. And we really wanted to try it because it's been voted best everything practically. And we love good seafood and had not yet been here. So for our first visit we ordered so much food. Among the goodies that we ordered include baked stuffed shrimp, Whole belly clams, and lobster lobster lobster! Everything was scrumptious. The atmosphere was so nice and the food was fresh and fortifying. We really enjoyed ourselves. Since then we have been back and though still yummy, it is not quite as good as our first visit. I love me some whole belly clams but they are a bit greasy here although with deep fried clams that is going to happen at many seafood places! Now the service has always been wonderful and in general I think it is a really pleasant place to dine. They are sort of far from me so I cannot be a regular but I do like them and would absolutely stop by here again. read more

Yesterday, we had lunch at Westbrook Lobster's Wallingford location, and paid $5.50 for a cup of lobster bisque that was hard to believe. It must have had a quarter of a pound of meat in it. It was ridiculous ! Every spoonful had a giant hunk of lobster in it -big chunks -not mini shreds. What an incredible value !. Our overall lunch experience was equally favorable. We each went for a $19 lobster roll plate (CT style (hot with butter) and not MA style (cold with mayo). Generous lobster portions on the sandwich, alongside a BIG portion of excellent French fries, and a small cup of cole slaw. We ate outside on the big deck and checked out the table top flipcharts promoting their Happy Hour specials. If you are a lobster freak, get your self over here stat. read more

So I must say right off the back that the service here is just marvelous af! The second you walk in through the door your greeted with kindness and a smile you can see through the masks. I forget to get a pic of the beer menu but they support small local breweries it's great. Your wondering why tf I gave four stars... I was looking for a place that serves great Lobster Rolls in Southern CT. It's a casual restaurant, but you have to have sleeves to dine here, so no tank tops. We were able to get a table right away because it wasn't busy. We ordered the zucchini cakes which were a special of the day, Lobster Roll, and Lobster Carbonara. The service was good. The server was attentive and filled our drinks. I might come back here again, the food was decent but more on the expensive side. Zucchini Cakes: This special was not good. I think when they cooked it they didn't pull out the liquid from the zucchini, making it mushy. It also didn't have any seasoning, so we had to add some table salt to it. The aioli was good though. Lobster Roll: Ordered the New England Lobster Roll and it was decent. The lobster pieces were on the bigger side and not over cooked. The bread was nicely toasted and buttery, held up until the last bite. It is a decent size for the sandwich. I got it with onion rings, which were good but lacked seasoning. They also give you a huge stack of onion rings. Lobster Carbonara: This was a decent and filling dish. It came with a good amount of lobster and bacon. The sauce had lots of flavor and was seasoned nicely . The noodles were cooked all the way and not al dente. read more

Brooke, our waitress, and our food, was absolutely fantastic. Six stars if I could. Three stars deducted for the hostess and manager. I was traveling from out of town and came here with family on a Monday night. We had called earlier and was told by the hostess there was a 0min wait. We arrive around 6ish, party of 7, and the hostess with long blonde hair was not enthused upon our arrival and told us the wait was 20-30mins despite multiple booths being empty. We offered to put our name and # down for the waitlist, which seemed to shock her beyond belief. Our diverse company was not her usual clientele that she wanted to serve. ~5 mins later, we get a text stating our table was ready. She grimaced and sat us down. Fast forward to the end of our dinner and the manager was making his rounds to tables to check-in on food and service. He promptly skipped our table and eyed us on the way out from the bar. Came in for happy hour and it was packed. We figured the wait on food, drinks, and service would be long but our waitress, Karalyn was great! Very attentive despite how packed it was. The happy hour deals here are pretty good, both for food and drinks (and the house wines are very good). We got the Rhode Island clam fritters and they are to die for! I also had the mussels - very good and ask for extra bread to soak up the suace. My husband had the fish tacos and he loved them - fish tasted fresh and it was nice and hot and crispy.
