He gets a dozen every Friday for his staff and I stop in daily on my way to work (before I hit the freeway) for my "toasted onion with cream cheese, lettuce, tomatoes onions and cucumbers, open faced, to go with peach tea snapple"...yum. The employees always smile when they greet me and boy howdy do I love manager Jackie! She's a very hard worker and has great attention to detail. Now, I live in Anaheim Hills and drive to the nearest Western Bagels, which is about 50 miles away. Because I usually buy three dozen at a time, I write out my flavors and quantities before I walk in...goes much faster. Imagine my frustration when when one favorite is out...they bake fresh. So, go figure, this Saturday...NO SESAME BAGELS! The clerk says how many you want, I will bake some up now, but you'll have to wait 10 minutes. Felt stupid asking for a special bake of SIX sesame bagels. Okay, after all I just drove 50 miles to get bagels. Well, the bagels come out in a couple of large covered boxes, steaming hot, smelling heavenly. I was expecting a bag of bagels from the counter. Instead, the clerk had freshly baked my ENTIRE order, with generous toppings of all my varieties! WOW! I was shocked. I went out to my car and thought, I do not have that young man's name and I must talk to his manager. I had left a nice tip but, butCustomer Service like that should not go unmarked. I used to go to the West Hollywood location when i was younger so I was already familiar with their menu. stopped in and grabbed a breakfast bagel on a garlic bagel with egg whites only, turkey, and added avocado.. it was DELISH!! The customer service is not very good as they seem disorganized and uninterested. They are kind of rude in fact and don't acknowledge customers. When I ask for coffee it's like I've asked for gold and I'll get a sigh or a cup aggressively thrown to me. The customer always comes first! I guess they are too focused on Uber and door dash orders to give attention to actual customers. The place closes at 2pm and they get very sloppy in the last half hour and disinterested. The bagels however are delicious so that is good at least! But they need a more friendly attitude! read more

Update: The CEO reached out to Jayson yesterday and apologized for the behavior of his staff & management/customer service team. He informed him that they received an email from another customer present during the exchange that claimed Jayson's dog was "clearly not a service dog" and that's why Tim was "put in a tough spot". While I find this excuse irritating, seeing as how this means his staff was trusting a random stranger's alleged expertise on what a service animal should look like and, thereby, dismissing the claims of the person who this behavior actually affects (not all service dogs are golden retrievers, contrary to popular belief), I am happy to report that he says there will be discussion with HR about ensuring employees are aware of ADA requirements, and action taken to remedy the handling of service animals in the future at Western Bagel locations. I truly hope these promises will come to fruition and that substantial adjustments are made. Jayson has gone out of his way to prove himself as legitimate, which is well beyond what is legally required of him-- please ensure no one else has to ever go through what he has moving forward. I also hope staff members will take this as a lesson learned and do some research prior to making potentially illegal and damning claims that could cost the company thousands in legal fees and fines. I thank the CEO for calling Jayson personally to handle this situation and for actually listening to him. His humility and professionalism truly shone through when it was needed most. The owner Tim and staff members (specifically Jose and Jackie) are discriminatory against people with disabilities!!! My boyfriend (an ex-US Army Ranger & disabled veteran) and I came here for breakfast on Sunday and brought our service dog with us. Upon entering we were quickly asked for papers to PROVE his dog is a service dog, and then the employee, Jose, proceeded to ask us to leave because we refused to provide such papers (we know our rights). This practice is extremely irritating, causes him IMMENSE emotional distress (especially when in such a crowded space as it draws unwanted attention to his disability) and is also AGAINST THE LAW!The Americans with Disabilities Act states that when it is not obvious what service an animal provides, only limited inquiries are allowed. Staff may ask two questions: (1) is the dog a service animal required because of a disability, and (2) what work or task has the dog been trained to perform. Staff cannot ask about the person's disability, require medical documentation, require a special identification card or training documentation for the dog, or ask that the dog demonstrate its ability to perform the work or task. When Jayson called to make the complaint the owner had the audacity to imply that he was lying and said that others "thought" he was lying too. If Tim had been smart about this, he would have taken a minute or two to google the name of the person he was speaking with and found out that he was, in fact, NOT LYING! He would have found that he has been an active part of the veteran community, a PTSD activist, and trained with his dog Meisha at Shelter to Soldier in San Diego. Seeing as how this is a fineable offense (up to $50,000), I highly recommend you train your employees better to not only KNOW the law, but also know that when speaking to people with a potential disability, they need to be conscious of the way they are doing so. The treatment Tim and his employees displayed was extremely insensitive and unprofessional. The least you could do is apologize when you and your staff mess up!!! Spot is always open. So that's a plus. I don't usually go to this location. First thing you notice is blank stares if you're not a usual suspect here. I was trying to take my time to figure out what I wanted which didn't seem to make the woman that was helping me very happy. Eye roll city. So immediately off put by the lack of patience. So I was going to get a few different styles but cut it off short by only getting 4 bagels. Now the quality of the bagels.... meeeeehhhhhhhh. Super hard like these were sitting for awhile. I asked for strawberry cream cheese and the woman helping me rudely told me to grab it myself. She asked a question which I didn't really hear because we are wearing a face mask plus silly plastic walls. I asked her to repeat and she rudely yelled it at me that I needed to grab the cream cheese myself and asked what size, followed by an eye roll. Lol. Over all the experience was shit. What seemed like regular customers didn't get this treatment before me. I ASKED for strawberry cream cheese they sold me regular.
