I finally tried these guys. It was pretty wild…read more Meats Gone Wild is a food truck - well, more of a jumbo-sized trailer - that often makes appearances outside such Henderson businesses as Lovelady Brewing and Khoury's Fine WIne & Spirits. I've also been seeing them at the annual, free-admission Sunset Park'd lately, and I finally felt like shelling out the dough to try them today. They do usually offer simple hot dogs for the not-so-adventurous, but their signature items are a variety of "exotic" meats, i.e. the not-so-commonplace game and fowl meats. Their sausages ($10) tonight included alligator and python/rabbit, but I went for the elk w/ jalapeño and cheddar. I once tried an elk burger, just a few years ago actually, but it wasn't very impressive. It turns out that if you make it properly, it can pop with meaty, non-gamey, delicious flavor. The sausage had the right snap on its skin too. I didn't taste too much jalapeño or cheddar, but you really should be letting the meat stand on its own as much as possible anyway. The bun was plain but supported the meat sufficiently, and the raw diced red onion added nice texture and a complementary bite. I'll definitely have to pony up (not literally, as far as I know) for more offerings by Meats Gone Wild the next time I come across them. They are unique in the food truck landscape, if not the entire local restaurant realm - let me know if anybody else advertises a camel offering!

The restaurant is located downstairs at the Venetian (you may need to ask for directions). The…read morespace is large and very nicely decorated although it is a bit dark and loud. They have plenty of tables and an open kitchen where you can see them grilling steaks. They also have fridges full of different cuts of steak you walk by on your way to the restrooms. They have plenty of staff and the staff are really great. Our waiter Josue was excellent. As a group of 5, we tried the sloppy joes, pan con tomate, embutidos (different charcuterie), A5 cheesesteak, neptune's pillow and gazpacho as starters. Everything was tasty but the sloppy joes were incredible. So much flavor and a great mix of textures. We loved them so much, we got a second order. Highly recommend you order these if you go (two come per order). This was my favorite dish of the night. For entrees we ordered the lamb bacon, arroz meloso de cangrejo and a 2lb Washugyu steak with sides of mushrooms (setas al ajillo) and butter potatoes. Important note, all of the steaks are priced per pound, but the smallest size they offer is 2lbs so it is double the price. The lamb bacon was not good and I would not order it again. We should have known it would be fatty given that is called lamb bacon but it was roughly 90% fat which was far too much for our liking. We also did not enjoy the cheese sauce it was smothered in. The arroz meloso had decent flavor (was actually spicy which we enjoyed, but is not noted on the menu so beware if you are sensitive to spice) but had pieces of crab shell in it. When we mentioned it to a server, he said that is normal and the manager came by to repeat what he said and offer to make us another which we declined (kudos for very attentive service). The steak however was phenomenal. Cooked perfectly and extremely tasty. I really liked eating it with the mushrooms which were delicious. The butter potatoes are billed as having butter, butter and more butter and they are not lying. While others loved them, they were way too buttery for me. The steak takes awhile to cook and Josue rightly recommended we order that first then figure out apps, sides etc so that we would not be waiting too long. The meal was spaced out nicely and we really enjoyed it. It is quite expensive, but the quality of food and service live up to it.

Foie gras is a product that is almost always produced by inserting a feeding tube into the ducks throat and force feeding them, however there are two producers in Spain that don't use this method. Willing to give them the benefit of the doubt I contacted them to inquire where they source their foie gras and if they could shed any light on the methods used to produce it. Sadly, I received no response. (And given Andrés' past comments and fundraisers in support of foie gras, it seems unlikely its sourced using ethical means.) Because of this we had to cancel our reservation and book somewhere else. While there are many conversations to be had around the ethical consumption of meat, I simply must draw the line at eating at a restaurant that serves a product that is produced by force feeding ducks.

Food came to us quickly and there was even a point where they cooked one of the premium meats for us, so we go the best cook we could. The menu is great. We really liked the high quality meat and interesting items. The Korean tartare was super interesting and really delicious. Fried kimchee was something I didn't know I needed in my life. The banchan was also really good. I liked they had flavors of melona that I had never heard of. Can't wait to come back in to have this excellent food at a very reasonable price.

I even noticed small drips on the wall that looked like sauce stains, so yeah...not the kind of spot you come to for ambiance. BUT. The food? Absolutely makes up for it. I saw a steady stream of DoorDash drivers coming in and out the entire time, which already told me this place is popular for a reason and after eating, I get it. The food is really good. Like, seasoned all the way through, flavorful, not dry, not bland everything just hits. The chicken was juicy and tender with that perfect grilled flavor, and the portions are generous. The rice was fluffy, the mac salad was creamy and balanced, and everything together just felt like a solid, satisfying plate. No shortcuts, no watered down flavor, just good food done right. Vegas has a LOT of Hawaiian BBQ spots, but hands down...this is one of the best, if not the best I've had out here. So yeah, don't come here expecting vibes. Come here because you want a plate that's actually worth your money.

Place is showing zero pride. This was our favorite go to spot off strip that we visit every time we come to Vegas and that we recommend to everyone. This trip I brought my mother and bragged about it on our drive. She refused to order anything there as soon as we walked in. So there were No ribs today and they don't know when or if another location they will have them?? Spam musubi is premade but did not look great once opened. My son took one bite and said it was disgusting- No musubi sauce and tasted like it has been sitting for a while. Like just make them fresh if they're gonna sit all day. I also decided to haphazardly order a very sad and pathetic side of Mac salad that didn't taste like anything. 2 OG musubi and a side of Mac salad for $11 that went straight into the garbage. We Debated coming back on a different day on this LV trip to see if it's an off day but not sure I can after seeing how dirty it was and that they are ok to sell crap to loyal customers. This is so sad and disappointing! Hope they can bounce back because the food truly was so awesome.
