I picked this company because of the reviews to install covered gutters, very disappointed. When I made my first appointment, I stated several times that I wanted to be at my house when the job is being done. They cancelled my appointment I was ok with that about a week before they were suppose to start. When I made a new appt, again, stating I wanted to be there. My appt was at 8:00am. They arrived at 7:42 AM ( per my RING) I was not there, by the time I arrived at 8:00 there were no vehicles. I waited for 20 mins Thinking they got coffee or something. After a couple of attempts I finally got through to the main office. I was told they (3 of them) already completed the job I said, " in 15 mins or less"? Replied "they are quick" I explained that it doesn't make sense no one can do a good job in 15 minutes or less and I stated that I wanted to be called when they were there and they were not suppose to start until eight. After I repeatedly said this just doesn't make sense, I didn't get anywhere with her, and really no apology. I then had a person take photos of what he could without actually getting on the roof. The photos showed gaps. After showing the photos to the owner he came out and completed the job. Because the trust was already gone at this point I had to hire a handyman to inspect which should've been done in the first place. Weeks went by before this could be accomplished due to rain and his schedule during November 2019. I was relieved when I was told no more gaps. This is exactly why I want to be there when jobs are performed. Bad enough no sincere apology, and wasn't offered a reduction from the original invoice. We needed to replace the trim along the roofline due to dry rot. Contractors and roofers did not want to touch this job due to our steel roof. Western Sierra not only specializes in steel roofing, they came in with the best bid. Other roofers wanted to replace the roof for three times the cost. Western Sierra was honest and said we had many more years left in our current roof. We had no trouble with the roof just the wood trim. Western Sierra's response time was excellent, they kept us informed while we sheltered in place, then got right on the job when restriction was lifted. The team of four guys was hard working, polite and professional. They took time to answer all our questions, took care of some roof maintenance things we weren't expecting and cleaned up nicely after themselves, all in two days! I needed a new roof, and was planning to get a solar system installed after the roof was fixed. I knew I wanted Costco's solar provider, but was not sure who would do the roof. I got estimates from many Angie's List companies, all had A's in Angie's List. A couple fell out right away, but most were fairly comparable in price, terms, etc. Western Sierra owner Tony Farber was punctual and professional at initial meeting to assess the job. He was offering a substantially different product than the others, a steel shingle roof, which is somewhat more costly up front, but is much lighter and longer-lasting than conventional composition shingle, and is far less expensive roof over a much longer period of time in terms of total cost of ownership, which is the best way to estimate and assess an investment option. By simply, calmly and quietly describing his products and processes, and answering all my questions clearly and in a manner I could understand, Tony persuaded me that his product was the best quality and the best value. Gutters were fairly comparable, but Western Sierra makes their own seamless gutters at a competitive price as part of a comprehensive package. He also offered to provide a solar system comparable to the one I was planning on, but which had micro-inverters for each panel, and online monitoring / performance reporting. The steel shingle roof allowed for an attachment system for the solar panels which required no holes or penetration of the roof. The Costco provider offered a system with a similar purchase cost, but which also involved an option for leasing the system. This resulted in very low up-front costs for the homeowner, but also less ongoing savings for the homeowner, who has to pay for the lease of the system every month. Also, with this program, the tax incentives go to the provider, who owns the system, not to the lessee. Furthermore, because Costco's solar provider did not have the specialized attachment system Western Sierra uses, they would not install their system on a steel shingle roof. I decided to go with Western Sierra for the entire job: roof, gutters, and solar.. Tony Farber and the Western Sierra team were ready to go almost immediately, and were on site and on time every day until the job was done. They were polite and professional and they all worked tirelessly, efficiently and as quietly as possible, completing the job on schedule, and leaving the site looking clean and tidy every day. Tony managed the permitting process for both the roofing and for the solar system. It was entirely painless and effortless for me. The solar system, which is practically maintenance free, is producing power as advertised. I can track production online, right down to the individual panel. PG&E has installed the special meter to enable it to track power PG&E receives from my system. With tax credits and dramatic reductions in our electric bill, the system will pay for itself in a few years, after which it will save us thousands of dollars annually, indefinitely. To sum up, the roof and solar system I got cost me more up front, but the quality and ownership (solar) will save me a lot of money in the long run. I highly recommend Western Sierra for roofs, gutters/spouts, and residential, homeowner-owned solar. read more

I called up Western Sierra because we needed new gutters. We started talking about solar for the house and he gave me some great information. He was honest, professional and didn't pressure a sale. After discussing with my other half, we decided to get a few estimates over the next few months. His was one a the lower estimates, but the kicker was he was able to evaluate my roof and gutters. The roof was in great shape, but the gutters needed to be replaced (which I knew already). It's been a year already since my solar was installed, and it was the BEST decision ever. I had my gutters cleaning done by Western Sierra 2 years ago. Only one guy came by, climb up the ladder and just threw away the debris that he saw. Charged me $300. He didn't run water through it. He didn't check if the downsprouts were cleared. Now one gutter is majorly clogged, and water was overflowing like a waterfall. It's a 2 stories building and I don't have any tall trees nearby. I don't believe the gutters/downsprouts could be clogged up so badly. He even tried very hard to sell me their solar panels. I am glad I didn't go with it. read more

I called Western Sierra Roofing based off of a recommendation from a co-worker. I am sure glad I did. I was close to having a company install leased solar panels. Which I now realize would have been a terrible idea. Tony promptly came out and gave me an estimate. To say he was courteous and professional is an understatement and on top of that, he was not pushy. I very much appreciate that type of attitude. A few days went by before I called and approved the start of the project. Western Sierra has been above a 5 star company in my opinion. The owner of the company worked directly with my wife and I from start to finish. When we originally had Tony out for a quote, we knew wouldn't be able to start the project for a couple of months. Tony was more than happy to give us a price and stuck with that number to the end. His professionalism was unmatched by any other contractor we had look at the project. We purchased the roof first in January 2015 and once that was complete and we refinanced the home, we were able to purchase the solar. Sierra Western did an amazing job on the roof, and an even better job on the solar installation. We have neighbors and friends that have done solar through other companies and their jobs don't look half as clean as ours. They did a truly amazing looking job all throughout. No owner of a company can promise to be on-site every day, but even when he wasn't here his employees didn't skip a beat. I didnt actually hire Western Sierra to have my gutters cleaned. I got several other estimates. Western Sierra wanted $450 for a single family home. To me that seemed way out of line. The other estimates came in between $160 and $200. Consequently I didn't hire them. But I cannot say anything about their work, they are probably excellent. read more

It has changed the curb appeal of my home, making a dated roof design more current. Tony was prompt on every level- he came to see and measure the roof, was prepared with material samples and available colors which he left with me; I had his quote that afternoon. He worked closely with another contractor to coordinate his schedule, the work was completed on time as promised. The installation team was here every morning, quieter than I expected with a roof installation and cleaned up every afternoon, Tony was on the job every day to oversee the progress. I don't usually review products or companies unless I am dissatisfied with them and believe my feedback can help others make informed decisions. But Western Sierra has been so good that I feel compelled to go the other way, again hoping my feedback can help others make informed decisions. My first experience with Western Sierra was in 2008 when I had a new roof, gutters and down spouts installed. They did a fine job installing my new stone-coated steel roof, but the new down spout locations didn't match the old ones, resulting in exposed unpainted areas previously hidden by the old down spouts, up high near the roof on my 2 story home. When I brought this to Tony's attention, he offered to paint the spots for me if I would supply paint matching the exterior of the home. Within a couple of days, Tony did as promised and the blemishes could no longer be seen. In 2015 I was shopping for solar panels. After talking to several "mainstream" solar companies, I called Tony and found out that Western Sierra does solar as well as roof installations. Let me tell you what went right... 1) Immediately my comfort level increased, as it just made sense to have to the same company that installed my roof also install solar on top of it. With anyone else, I'd have been apprehensive about damage to the steel tiles that I might not discover for a decade or more. 2) Tony was willing to match the best price I had previously found for comparable equipment. 3) Tony was also willing to extend his warranty to match that of a competitor. This made a statement to me about his confidence in the product he was installing. 4) The price and warranty were not haggle points - once I made him aware of the competition's points and substantiated them, he simply offered to match them. 5) When Tony went to his supplier to pick up my solar panel order, they had just discontinued the model we had planned to purchase, forcing him to buy a newer upgraded model for more money. He did NOT pass the extra charges on to me. 6) Tony volunteered ahead of time to paint the new conduit and any other exposed parts to be installed along the house walls. Yes, I still had the paint from the down spout repainting. 7) Shortly after the roof/down spout installation, one of my dogs chewed up the bottom of the one of the new down spouts. When Tony saw this 7 years later, he offered to replace the down spout at no additional charge. 8) 8 months after the solar installation was complete, following a recent storm, I found the spark arrestor from my chimney on the patio in the backyard. Yesterday, I asked Tony to come out and check the solar panels for any damage it may have caused to them while being blown around on the roof. He came out today, found no problem with the panels, and reinstalled the spark arrestor, all for no charge. In summary, Tony is a guy who seems to see things from his customers' perspectives, and then takes the extra steps to see that they are comfortable and satisfied with his product. You can't do better business than that. If I could award one star for each of the things that went right, I would. read more

I had a good experience with Tony and Western Sierra. I had a stone-coated metal shake roof that sustained tree damage during a large windstorm. The original installer had gone out of business and the roof manufacturer referred me to Western Sierra. Tony came out and got back to me with a quote promptly. He was able to find the exact same roofing material and assisted me in ordering some extra in case there were future repairs. He was good about scheduling around the tree trimmers and stayed in regular contact through email. When it came time for the repair, he squeezed me into his schedule even though it was a small job, and he was fair about the price. When my extra materials came in, I was about to hop in my truck to go get them, and Tony pulled up to drop them off. He had another job nearby and was thoughtful enough to throw them in his truck and drop them off. I liked the way he did business and these folks are going to be on my short-list when I finally get around to doing solar. read more

We recently had new gutters installed by Western Sierra and were impressed by the punctuality and work ethic of the Western Sierra team. My message was answered within the hour and we booked an appointment within the week. Marshall looked at our needs and gave us a detailed estimate. The workmen arrived early and cleaned up thoroughly. As they started the job, the workmen recommended some changes which they discussed with us and managed to complete these with no changes to the estimate. Our house was damaged when 200 year old oak tree fell on it, pretty much took out one corner and 20% of the existing steel roof that was on the house when we purchased it 5 years ago. Long story short, our contractor ( who was assigned to us by our insurance company) is outside of this area and needed a roofer who specialized in steel roofs. In came Tony and his crew Tony was professional and kept an eye on our job from start to finish, his crew was pleasant and professional and they were SO neat and tidy. Our only other experience with a past house and roofer was a mess, we were finding nails and debris for years afterwards so we prepared ourselves for a similar experience and were beyond pleased that this wasn't the case. it was all going so well we even had them replace a skylight and add an additional vent to our attic, Tony was really helpful in helping me place the downspouts and pick out colors that matched the house.
